This restaurant has been open for 18 years, and this is the first time I've ever heard of it. First I want to thank Yelp, because without this app I would never find all these fabulous places to do what I love to do... And that is dine! Where do I begin, dining here is like having a great meal in a specialty restaurant on a cruise ship, those who cruise will know what I mean, all the best of ingredients and preparation under one roof. Eating here is like being back home at Grandma's 25 years ago, thanks for the memories, all dishes prepared with the utmost care and a touch of love. Bella!!! Beautiful atmosphere, very intimate,still decorated for Christmas and a gorgeous Nativity on a mantel above a burning fireplace. Thank for you putting a Nativity in your restaurant. Now to the food, Warmed Italian bread, Arthur Ave style if not brought in from the Bronx.. So very good. Dishes filled with pitted black olives and roast garlic cloves in EVO to spread on this Devine bread. Spinach salad with sliced avocado, bacon, and a side order of rigatoni bolognese (pork ,beef, and veal) sauce, so homemade! We had two veal dishes, veal saltimbocca, veal chop Milanese( pounded on the bone). Both veal so tender, melted in your mouth. As I said earlier this is home cooking at its best. Ernesto was our waiter, and what a great guy. Funny at times and a true professional. He has been here since they opened 18 years ago and I noticed as the other tables started to fill Ernesto was hugged by all. Great wine list, very unique martini list... Never heard of a cannoli martini... Have to try it next time around. Finished with a dessert called Migliaccio ( Italian cheesecake with raspberry drizzle) great way to end a memorable evening or come to thing of it, a great way to start a new beginning at Ristorante Gemelli. Visit Date: June 10, 2016 Came here with hubby for a romantic dinner that turned out to be a little weird. I was a little upset about that because I've been wanting to try this restaurant forever. It is a good restaurant but it's meant to be a place you will spend a few hours in, drinking some wine or other drinks and eating your meal very slowly. Because we didn't have any drinks with our dinner we did not enjoy the languishing over our meal that we were supposed to enjoy. For an appetizer I had the pizza which was great. But I had to pick prosciutto off of it because I'm a vegetarian and didn't realize they topped it with prosciutto. I'm not sure if they mentioned that in the menu and I just didn't notice. I didn't get mad at them though I just picked it off and hubby ate it. For our main course he chose the salmon and I chose the rolled lasagna with spinach. It took a long time for our main course to arrive and hubby started to get mad. He's not friendly when he's hungry. When our main course came out he just wanted the check. So we asked for it. The manager did come by to see if we were okay and if everything was good so he did try to speak to us to find out about the slight disappointment but hubby just wanted to settle the check, eat up his main course and leave. The food was good I did enjoy it very much, the tomato sauce on the rolled lasagna tasted like fresh tomatoes. So, after hitting the Gemelli store, I notice that a block away is another place called Ristorante Gemelli. We went in for dinner and it was a good choice. The place looks kind of, sort of like a Tuscan villa. The waiter was a bit slow out of the gate, but he recovered and did an admirable job. For instance, he took my order for a bottle of wine, brought it and the wine bucket out, and then disappeared for like 5 minutes with the bottle unopened- maybe he was trying to let it chill? The food was very good- we had a risotto appetizer that was just dandy. The waiter, to his credit, paced our meal perfectly- he asked me to let him know when we were ready for the main course which I just love. The main courses were incredibly good and the support staff were johnny-on-the-spot with the water refills etc. A great find, I will definitely go back. read more

A Babylon community staple serving excellent Italian cuisine in a cozy setting. Most recently arrived for a reservation but were asked if we could wait 10 minutes due to current shortage of staff. Despite the short wait, the staff were attentive, helpful and a pleasure to talk to. As always, food was excellent. Portions may be smaller than expected for some like others have said in their reviews, but I personally found them to be more than enough food and there is always dessert. read more

Well this is probably my Third time there. I must say I was very disappointed, but not the server. The food. Perhaps they hired a new chef? I ordered a pretty common dish. Linguine with red sauce. The pasta was floating in the sauce and the clams had what I referred to as "flat tires". The dish was $26.00 not worth 26cents. That's what it cost them. The rest was profit. Have been going here occasionally for years. Always very pleased. Not so much on our last visit about two weeks ago. Service was good as usual. Food however was not. Although my wife's Shrimp ScampiPasta was OK, baked clams were also good as expected but my Veal Saltimboca dish was probably the worst restaurant meal I have ever had. The Veal was smothered in lemon and salt while the spinach side was inedible from over salting as was the potato croquet. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I don't know a better way to get owners/managers attention. Just left Gemelli, and was extremely disappointed. Our appetizer, and both entrees were so cold. No exaggeration. I ordered chicken cacciatore $25 - this dish should have been priced at $12. It was one piece of an undercooked cutlet with watered down tomato sauce, onions, and green olives... alongside that were crispy hard polenta circles... why in the world wouldn't you serve that dish with creamy polenta? I don't understand. My husband had chicken marsala $24 - again, should have been $12-$15. It came with spinach, and a salty potato croquette. It was my husbands birthday, so I really wanted it to be special. But dinner was $92 after tip, and I truly feel like I wasted my money. So upsetting. read more

My husband and I were one of the many engaged couples who had to alter their wedding plans due to the unforeseen events of 2020. Instead of postponing our wedding we decided to move forward and have a smaller (20 people), socially distanced reception/dinner at Gemelli's. We had such a wonder experience from start to finish. Five adults dined here on 11/24. The food and service were mediocre. Small Veal chop with a side veg was $50. Seafood Amalfi had no taste and contained mussels and little else. Grouper was over cooked and portion small. Risotto with lobster contained a few pieces of lobster meat. Another seafood dish had little taste. Several things ordered were never received. Last night my boyfriend and I went to Gemelli's for dinner and we had an incredible experience. The ambiance was cozy and romantic. We got baked clams and the burrata which was delicious to start. We both requested chicken parm and spaghetti which was not on the menu, but was easily accommodated. I wish we had room for dessert, the apples in puff pastry is on my radar. We got a bottle of Riesling and it was the perfect addition. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and warm. Service was perfectly timed, it's so refreshing to be at a restaurant that isn't trying to shove you out the door. This restaurant is more expensive than typical but well worth the extra money. After a long day of wedding dress shopping and hotel room block viewing in the city, my weary family and I stumbled into Gemelli's for a much needed meal and glass or two of wine. From start to finish, everything was awesome. Our waiter was personable and was joking with us all evening in the same way that you think your grandfather would joke with you. Now, onto the main event: the food. For appetizers the table shared the fried calamari, polenta, and mozarella romano. All of them were great but the standout for me was the mozarella romano - sometimes its the simplest things that are the best on the table I guess. Being the pain in the ass orderer that I am, I ordered the Rigatoni Polo with shrimp instead of chicken. This was accommodated without a problem and came out tasting AMAZING. Lucky for all you Yelp readers out there, I enjoy eating off other people's plates so I can tell you first hand about the rest of the food. Puff pastry salmon: My least favorite dish of the night, this was still incredibly tasty. I think, though, that the pastas overshadow the fish options at Gemelli. Pesto linguine with shrimp: SO EFFING GOOD. I loved this dish - thankfully, it belonged to my fiance so, in the interest of getting ready for wedded bliss, I was able to treat it as a "what's yours is mine" deal. (In reality, my poor, patient man has been dealing with my food thievery since our first date so its expected at this point). Seafood and pasta with fra diavolo sauce: I can't really speak to the seafood because of my bivalve intolerance but the sauce on the pasta was perfectly made with just that little kiss of heat. Ristorante Gemelli's is a nice spot for an authentic Italian style dinner. The restaurant's appearance makes it appear like you are sitting in a small Italian village. They have landscape paintings on the walls and a high ceiling which has a few small windows on the upper level just like the beautiful towns of Italy. Eating outdoor is also an option on those beautiful summer days. The attire is semi- dressy so you can get away with simply jeans and a nice shirt. The service is very traditional and professional. Now for the food... You are originally seated with just the wine lists in case you would like to enjoy a drink prior to your meal. The bread is then served first with the oil and olive dressing in the middle (no butter). FYI - The bread is delish, just the right amount of crisp to it. The waiter then comes over, provides you the menus and takes the drink orders. The meals on the menu are in Italian, but the descriptions underneath are in easy to understand English. After much deliberation, I went with the traditional linguine and calamari. The dish had an unexpected zest to it.. It was OK, but not as delicious as I was anticipating. For dessert I had the creme brulee.. don't ask me why. But it was pretty good, my friend got the canolli which i regretted not getting instantly. All and all it was a good meal. The food is five stars hands down. It's a beautifully designed restaurant with five star service. I wouldn't be able to afford up eat here all of the time but it's definitely a great place to splurge. Probably the BEST Italian food I have ever had in my life! (Besides mom and grandmas). We were so excited to try this restaurant and were completely disappointed, dissatisfied and hungrier than when we came in, the appetizers were great and we were excited for our meal, the ravioli was in a grey/brown sauce, inedible, we said forget it let's get dessert and get out of here. The creme brûlée was completely black on top and cold on the bottom, when we received the check, we were charged for the ravioli that the server stood and watched my significant other take a small bite of and spit back out and said he couldn't eat it, the waiter took it back in the kitchen and apologized and then tried to charge us for food that we didn't eat. What a great meal! We have been here before and are never disappointed. Tonight we have a great server - Nicky - who was attentive and very friendly. She was acutely aware of my wife's gluten-free needs. The cockles had a great sauce. The grilled octopus was perfect - tender and in a nice arugula salad. The lobster risotto was great. It had a bit more liquid than I expected but it was amazing. My wife had a gluten-free fusilli with prosciuto, shrimp, grappa and a cream sauce. Perfect. Always a good meal. read more

It is really pleasing to see so much improvement in this restaurant. I have had three recent dinners at Gemelli's and all have been very good or better. I see improvement everywhere. Physically the space has always been good but that was the high point. Now the food is good, service is excellent and management seems to show a renewed interest. My latest dinner was Friday night - 6 people. No complaints at our table which included some very hard to please diners. Prices are moderate as are portions. Everything better than in the past. We were greeted by a manager (owner?) when we arrived and shown to our table. During the meal he came over to check on us and as we were leaving, he again came over to say good night. Wow! To me this improvement deserves a raise to four yelp stars. Another couple of good meals and Gemelli's can rise to the five star elite. read more

I had a very enjoyable meal here. So many things sounded good, I had a hard time deciding what to order. For an appetizer I decided on a greens salad with a poached pear and candied pecans dressed with some honey amaretto concoction that was amazing. Pasta, of course, for the entree, went with the Pappardelle with a Veal Ragu. This was very tasty and the portion was gigantic - I ate about half and took the rest home. Perhaps I ate it later that night, cold, standing in front of the open fridge, with my fingers, because utensils are optional when eating leftovers. That is how I roll. I tried some of the lobster risotto that my parents ordered, which was lovely, full of briny lobster chunks and veggies. We all shared a canoli for dessert, and it was one of the best I can recall eating in a while. The ricotta was delicately sweet and the shell was crispy and flaky. Ive been there three times and its always been great. Ive been there as a couple and with family (over 7 of us). The food is delicious and probably some of the best italian on the island. Sure its price, but you get the best treatment. Ive even gotten comped on cordials and coffee from the waiter. How often does that happen? The service was fabulous. We even sat with fireside seating. The specials are really different. We brought our own wine and had them cork it for us for a small fee. The ambiance is great, tuscan as the other review described. Bar area a little small but suitable. On to Dinner, once seated greeted by what has to be one of Long Island's finest waiters. This was our first time back since the beginning of the Covid epidemic. We were surprised to see the restaurant half full on Mother's Day late afternoon. The menu was very sparse and we were disappointed that they no longer offer the hot and cold antipasto appetizers that were our favorites. The dinners we ordered were satisfactory, but nothing exceptional. Their prices seem to have increased quite a bit, but I guess many restaurants are trying to recoup their losses of the past year. Babylon has many other restaurants that we will probably now choose over Gemelli's. It still has a wonderful ambiance and great waitstaff, but overall for the money we spent we are not looking forward to returning any time soon. read more

After our dining experience, my whole family felt like this was a bait and switch restaurant week scam. We looked at Gemelli's special restaurant week menu that was on their website and saw two appetizer's that we were interested in (classic Neapolitan rice balls and the butternut squash soup), and a spaghetti dish with lump crab that sounded delicious for the main course. After a strenuous week, we were really looking forward to this meal. When we arrived, we got seated by a lovely fireplace, that was a good start. We were handed a drink menu but it was at least 15 minutes before we were given food menus, so that was a bit strange (the waiter did apologize). What was even stranger was that my mother and husband had different restaurant week menus than mine! My menu had the two appetizers and entree we were going to get but the rest of my family had menus that didn't have those items! This got me a little nervous, so when the waiter arrived, when I ordered my meal, I showed him the items I wanted from my menu. My mom and myself ordered the spaghetti dish with the crab and the rice ball appetizer, and my husband ordered a ravioli stuffed with pork and the rice balls as well. The waiter took our order so I breathed a sigh of relief as it looked as if there weren't going to be any problems - wrong! The waiter came back a few minutes later and told us that the menu I ordered from had been changed. I told him that I had looked at their online menu just a few hours earlier and that was the menu that was there. He said that it was a last minute change. Well, I wish that we were told about this change a lot earlier because maybe we wouldn't have stayed. But we had already been served our drinks, now we know not to order drinks until we see a food menu. We were very annoyed at this "last minute change" in the menu. It felt like we were enticed into dining at this establishment under false pretenses. My mother and I were looking forward to having the spaghetti with the crab, that was the dish that made us decide on going to Gemelli instead of one of the other restaurant week places. We felt that this switch was unscrupulous. How could you change to a different menu at the last minute like that? And by the way, as of 6:00 pm today, the day after we had this dinner, the original menu was still on their website, http://www.gemellirestaurant.com/WinterRestaurantWeek. I would like a manager or owner from the restaurant explain why the menu was suddenly changed. Did they think that the dishes that were removed were too good to serve during restaurant week or were they serving those dishes and then ran out of them so they suddenly had to make up a new menu? I would love to know the reason why. Any way, after feeling very disappointed and conned, we had to find alternative dishes to have, it wasn't easy after having our hearts set on our original choice. Instead of the rice balls for an appetizer, I selected the broccoli soup which I have to say was one of the worst and weirdest soups I have ever had! My mother couldn't even eat hers because she felt it was so strange. I finished mine only because I was very hungry at this point and needed something to eat. I can't even describe how it tasted, it didn't taste anything like broccoli though. I should have had the winter salad, my husband said it was pretty good. Next came the entree, I had selected the ravioli stuffed with pork, mushroom, and sage, with charred leeks & radicchio in a Madeira wine demi. It was pretty good, the only problem was that there were only four small ravioli, it wasn't enough to feed a child. I'm not a big or fast eater but even I was done in about five minutes and was still quite hungry. I have never seen a portion that small, most appetizers have more food than that. My mother had ordered the pan seared chicken which she said was a bit tough. The dessert was actually the best part, we all ordered the Sicilian cassatelle which was very good. Unfortunately, it couldn't save the day. After the bait and switch with the menu, and then the absurdly minuscule portions, none of us were very happy. The interior of the restaurant is lovely, the fireplace and decor provide a cozy atmosphere. It's just too bad the rest of the dining experience is so lacking. Now we went during restaurant week so I don't know if ordering off their regular may be a better experience. But I can say from my experience, avoid restaurant week at this place at all costs. read more
