We had previously tried to dine here twice, but we're unsuccessful. Their website said they were open and their dood hours said they were open but they were not. This time I called and they were open. I had the gnocchi and sausage with vodka sauce. The sausage and sauce were good, but the gnocchi were chewy dense dough balls. My wife who does not eat meat ordered the fettuccine and had them sub shrimp for the chicken. There were 6 shrimp which were undercooked and the fettuccine was mush. The waitress who was nice said she would take half off of that dinner. When we got the bill they had billed $9.00 for adding the shrimp. This is a one and done for us. No desire to go back. I don't know why this place has such a low Yelp rating based on the number of reviews, it's excellent! I'm in town visiting family and my cousin insisted we go. The restaurant is kinda in an odd place attached to a roadside motel, and it could easily be dismissed, but it's definitely worth your time and money. Reservations are recommended, so be sure to call, and for those that need it, they have GF pasta! This place was easy to find, had a very clean dining room and was tastefully decorated. Prices weren't too shabby and the food was delicious. Laura, our server was excellent! She took my dietary needs seriously, and our entire meal from start to finish was 100% correct. She was very attentive, polite and accurate with literally everything. I have enjoyed the food and service when it was on Horizon Drive. When I heard it was moving to the old Dos Hermanos/La Cabre building I became worried. La Cabre did not last very long. I was beginning to think it was now a bad location. I've gone twice now to the new location. Not only is the food good, its better than ever. So don't let this place pass you by. Staff were attentive. The owner came to ask how we liked our food as is typical in a good Italian restaurant. They purchased the restaurant 9 years ago. The food was really good. Bread came out first w olive oil and basaltic. The bread is definitely better hot. I had a lemon drop martini and it was delicious and fresh. My husband had a Chianti that he likes. Both were brought out quickly. Then came the delicious salads and we had blue cheese dressing. It was clearly home made with chunks of blue cheese. He had lasagna which was super cheesy and moist. It had a nice meaty flavor. It was awesome and there was enough to take home. I had veal Marsala. It was also super flavorful and a huge portion. The veal was perfectly cooked and tender. This restaurant is connected to the Clarion Hotel and was recommended upon check in. It was a good recommendation. We sat in the bar, it happened to be happy hour, we were so happy about that, coming from Utah "happy hour" is a bad word. Anyhow we decided to share our meal since we were told they give you large portions. We started with the Calamari appetizer 1/2 price mind you. It was just as good as if you were next to the ocean, clean tasting, deep fried, lightly battered not greasy, the tomato based sauce was made fresh and complimented the Calamari perfectly. We were given a basket of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, it was hard to stay away from the bread. Next was the salad, it was plenty for us both to share. Our main meal was the Eggplant Parmesan, I've had eggplant parm at many places and I have to say this was the best I've ever tasted. It was lightly breaded, with layers of cheese, fresh tomato sauce with a side of spaghetti cooked al dente. For drinks I had the house Pinot Grigio, cold, fruity, non acidic, it went well with the calamari, and the Mr. had a Colorado Red Ale on tap, it was ice cold, a little too malty for me but perfect for him. This restaurant was recommended by the owner of Lemon Lodge in Colorado Springs. We didn't go inside for dinner because we had our dog with us on the trip. But we learned from the owner of Restaurante Pantuso that they are about to make the patio dog friendly.So on our next trip to Grand Junction, we will be sure to eat on the patio. My spinach and cheese and sausage calzone was just cheese. There was no spinach and no sausage. 4. Server said, I'll bring you over some sausage. She brings over sausage but no SPINACH server then says they have new kitchen people. The problem: they didn't even have many customers and the price is too high for what you order. The calamari was excellent. The salad had brown lettuce, the spaghetti sauce was terrible (too sweet and spicy), the eggplant parmigiana was too cheesy. The atmosphere was okay, with Italian music. We had to ask for appetizer plates, grated cheese (canned not fresh) and the minestrone soup had large chunks of vegetables served in a tiny cup. We were barely finished with the calamari when we received our salads and soup. After about 5 minutes, our entrees were delivered. *Timing of food delivery was not good! We were so excited to eat at the new location and left feeling very disappointed. *We took the spaghetti home and watered down the sauce and then it tasted okay. Have been to this place several times and it has a nice little happy hour menu and discounts on drink prices. If you get the right bar tender it can be pretty enjoyable for conversation (not always the case with some working the bar). It does leave a bit to be desired in a bar as it's attached to a hotel. Friendly and knowledgeable of his menu. I looooved the Prosciutto Cotto Gnocchi. So yummy. A little creamy, salty, and completely satisfying. My husband got the veal cutlet sandwich special and enjoyed it, liked my Gnocchi dish better. Great wine selection for local wines.
