They truly understand the art of gentle dentistry. The office is clean, bright, and cheerful. Appointments are always on time and the work is superior to many other dentist. I have since moved out of the area but I drive back to Hollywood from downtown because they are that good! I have had a root canal, fillings and cleaning regularly over the past 7 or more years. DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE POSITIVE REVIEWS. I went here a few months ago because the location isn't a far commute from my apartment. I went for a check up and cleaning since i had just moved to California and needed to switch dentists over anyways. This place is SO shady. Not good vibes at all when you enter. I made an appointment and went to the front desk where they had me fill out a few forms. Yes, the person who greeted me at the front desk was "nice" but I just had an all around bad feeling about that place. They escorted me back, greeted me and sat me in a chair all the way at the end of the hall. I was introduced to the dental hygienist which seemed like she had no idea what was going on. I sat there for about 10 minutes and then got moved into another chair in the office. The dentist looked at my teeth before the cleaning took place and said they looked perfect - no cavities. She sent someone else in to do the cleaning. Now this is the part that's straight out of a horror film. I don't have sensitive teeth, I have never had a problem with a cleaning whatsoever. This staff member was DIGGING her metal tools into my gums so hard that I had to grab another staff members hand because of the pain. There was SO MUCH BLOOD COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH that the staff member who was holding my hand had to take a paper towel and keep wiping my mouth up. There was no water tools used or even the brush with the little paste to actually clean my teeth. Just the metal tools making my mouth bleed a large amount. I don't know how i made it through the awful experience. Then AFTER THE "cleaning" the dentist comes in and goes "oh yes so you have perfect teeth besides a cavity". I reply and say "you just told me I didn't have any cavities". The dentist insists that I have a cavity on one of my molars and she said she could go ahead and FILL IT ON THE SPOT. I told her I had to think about it first and almost jumped out of my chair to leave. The person at the front desk didn't ask for any information or co-pay once I left. THE SCARIEST PART is that when I went to a new dentist today to get a second opinion on if I had a cavity, she said she saw NOTHING. NO CAVITY. THIS DENTIST WAS ABOUT TO DRILL A HOLE IN MY TOOTH ON THE SPOT WHEN I DIDN'T HAVE A CAVITY. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Love this office...Staff is friendly and Dr. Margarita does great work. She works her schedule around the patients - love that. Especially when in pain and needed assistance pronto! Pricing is reasonable as well. I have been to other dentists with much higher costs and less personal service. Over the years I had many cleanings and never had one performed by the actual dentist! Dr. Rita Metrikina is a skilled professional and a very nice and caring person. She extracted my infected shaking molar and I did not experience any pain. She called me few times after this procedure to check my condition. She also made a root channel and a prosthetic three tooth bridge for me. The work was excellent. I was very happy with Dr. Rita when I had a couple cleanings over the past year and there were no issues. She was kind and considerate, I was disappointed that they didn't give a free toothbrush but I got over it. Then I had a terrible toothache for the past couple of weeks and let it go until I could no longer stand the pain, so she fit me in on a Friday when the office was closed. This was actually just two weeks ago. She told me I needed to come back on Monday for another x-ray, since English is her second language I had a hard time understanding why I needed to come back for yet another examination and x-ray. I came back on Monday and she had me waiting in the chair for 30 minutes until I got up to ask what's going on?! Long story short she took another xray and then told me I needed to get a root canal. I told her I had never had a cavity but she told me I must have just didn't remember. But NO I have NEVER had a cavity in my entire life. She said I needed an emergency root canal. I finally got a second opinion very quickly and the doctor came to the realization I was grinding my teeth and I just needed a mouth guard. He was way more professional and legitimate. He told me there was a less than 1% chance I would need a root canal especially on a "virgin tooth." I now have a mouthguard and am much more at ease. the pain is way less and I could tell I was actually subconciously grinding my teeth due to stress and anxiety. I do NOT recommend going there, as nice as she seems she is not professional. read more

Dr. Rita is an excellent dentist and very moderately priced too. I'm 64 and have gone to any number of dentists over the years and overall have found her to be the most skilled. Her technique for administering novocaine is pinpoint and the least painful and most effective I've ever experienced. When I needed a root canal she arranged for it (she has a specialist come in while she assists) at a cost that was about half that of a typical expensive Westside dentist. She's also very patient and good at showing you exactly why and where the work is that she feels must be done. If you learn a few words of Russian it's a nice gesture although her English is just fine. read more

I found Dr. Metrikin here on Yelp when I woke up with a swollen cheek and I needed help fast. Prior to her I had a dentist in Tjiuana but I couldn't wait to drive down there with my swollen cheek. Now I'm staying with Dr. Rita, because not only does she have reasonable prices, and therefor saves me the trip down south but - and that's just as important - she's a really, really good dentist! I ended up doing my dental bridge here with her and the bridge looks perfect! The color is so natural, it feels great, and she saved my back tooth from a potential root canal in the process when she discovered that that tooth had a lot of decay due to a badly placed crown, when she prepped my teeth for the new bridge. She's also a really nice person and everybody who works with her in her practice is super-nice and friendly. I'm so glad that I found her and I highly recommend her to everyone from now on. The practice is not one of these fancy places and neither is the building but make no mistake, this dentist is exceptionally skilled, and that's all that matters. She is also very gentle and she really cares for your dental health, unlike many others here in L.A. who only care about selling you stuff. Dr. Rita is an excellent dentist; in fact, I rate her skill level noticeably above all the American-trained dentists I've ever gone to (she was trained in Russia). She's the best (most accurate) at giving numbing injections I've experienced - other dentists sometimes have required 2 or 3 shots to numb the area properly - not her! . Not only that, she works on Saturdays and into the weekday evenings to accommodate her patients. Also, she does some of the routine cleanings herself - doesn't just lay that off on an assistant. She's very reasonably priced - does the same (or better) work as the high priced guys for much less money. I know this from personal experience. A very nice person to boot. I totally disagree with the bad review given by johnny V. I had a root canal at Dr. Rita's office and she brought in a specialist to do it and she assisted.
