This review is about pharmacist Chaza Nadoor at this soon-to-close Rite Aid -- and why I believe she should not be licensed to practice. Due to Rite Aid's major error, my essential medication was never picked up by me, yet they marked it as "dispensed" in their system. This blocked my mail-order refill through Aetna for weeks. I had to call multiple departments, go through text threads, and finally convince Rite Aid to check their store cameras and internal system -- which proved I never picked it up. Only then did they admit fault and told me my prescription would be ready. When I returned the next morning to pick it up, I was met by Chaza Nadoor, who immediately dismissed me, cut me off mid-sentence, and refused to listen. When I finally said, "you guys really f***ed up," (which they absolutely did), she became enraged, aggressively responded, and then taunted me by shaking my filled medication in my face and saying, "I'm not giving it to you until 1PM." Let that sink in: she refused to give me life-sustaining medication that was already paid for and ready, simply because she didn't like the vocabulary I used when referencing a legally documented pharmacy error. I had to call non-emergency police and request a store manager, who thankfully was calm, professional, and gave me the medication after I explained what had happened. But by then, I was in tears, late to work, and mentally shaken. I've filed a formal complaint with the California State Board of Pharmacy and am demanding an investigation into her license. What she did is not just unethical -- it borders on patient endangerment and retaliation, and I will not stop until it's addressed. read more

One star for today's experience. Made an appointment for a Covid booster. The CDC and my doctor say that every four months is fine. But I had my last one here five months ago and the pharmacist took it on herself to decide it was too early for me and canceled my appointment. She decided I would be "fine" without it. I didn't realize that the pharmacists here think they are more qualified than the CDC on my doctor. Went over to another pharmacy and got it right afterwards again as long as it's been four months it is none of the pharmacy's business! Very disappointing. I've had ups and downs with this & other pharmacies but not coming back here for a vaccine. read more

Why hasn't management (and most of their employees) been fired??? Most of their employees seem to hate their jobs. They are rude and don't care about offering any sort of speedy or helpful customer service. Expect long lines. Rude, nasty "brainless" employees. Alway unaccountable. Expect supply shortages. They lie about your Rx being ready causing you multiple visits and long waits... UNTRUSTWORTHY... I am surprised this company has not gone out of business. IMO. (In my opinion). Update: Would give this Rite Aid zero stars if I could. Staff looks like they are in day one of Covid and one of the last places I have seen where staff are still wearing masks. Covid test kits are now in this sort of clearance bin instead of behind the counter locked up like the early days, pretty ironic now. My doctor put me on a NEW medication and sent the prescription to the Del Mar Rite Aid on July 11, 2023, while I was out of the country. The RX was never processed, billed to my insurance or filled. I returned on the evening of the 15th. When I called the pharmacy on the 16th to confirm that it was ready for pickup, I was told that it wasn't filled, and as I waited on the phone, it was processed, the claim was rejected and I was told it required prior authorization. I was given no satisfactory answer when I asked why the prescription was NOT processed the day it was received. I needed to start the medication the next day. So far, this is abysmal care. 5 days wasted- time that could have been used to get the prior authorization. In addition, the medication was not in stock. It had not been ordered. The next day, Monday, I proactively contacted both my doctor and my insurance company to secure the prior authorization. By Tuesday the prior authorization had been approved. Still no medication in stock. I was told it would be ordered again. This brings us to today, Wednesday, the 19th, 8 days since the prescription was received by the pharmacy. I received a phone call in the afternoon- medication still out of stock. A Rite Aid about 40 minutes north of me had it in stock and I approved the transfer and said I'd pick it up there. This medication is in the form of an injection pen and pen needles are required to administer each dose of medication. At this point I'm told there are no pen needles for me. Apparently the doctor neglected to send the required prescription for them. This entire situation is completely unacceptable. Why did none the Rite Aid's healthcare professionals put 2 and 2 together and realize that there is NO WAY FOR ME TO ADMINISTER MY MEDICATION WITHOUT NEEDLES!? THE PHARMACIST WHO INITIALLY RECEIVED THE MEDICATION PRESCRIPTION WITHOUT A PEN NEEDLE PRESCRIPTION TO GO WITH IT, SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED THE PRESCRIBER. I am currently without medication. I messaged the Rite Aid corporation on social media last night at 9pm, with the above, in its entirety. I received this stock message at 4:59 am this morning. I supplied my full name, my phone number and my email address at 5:37am. It's now 6:56pm. No one has contacted me, from Rite Aid to resolve this situation. The ineptitude and the colossal failure to provide satisfactory service is breathtaking. Fortunately for me, this completely unnecessary delay in starting this medication will not result in any permanent detriment to my health. But, jeez, Rite Aid, you only had one job... Update Friday July 21 I received a text yesterday stating the the pen needles are out of stock, have been ordered and a text will be sent to me when the prescription is filled. I just called the Rite Aid store 40 minutes north of me. They have the pen needles in stock and will contact the Del Mar store to transfer the prescription over and fill it today.... 10 days after the pharmacy first received the prescription...... read more

It's interesting reading some of the negative comments about this Rite Aid pharmacy's wait times. I've never had that issue. In fact, I specifically don't go to CVS anymore for my prescriptions because of how along the lines always are and how chaotic it is in there. Rite Aid is a calm and relaxing environment compared to CVS, and I've never had to wait long at all. The staff that work the registers are so nice! Reduced hours and mostly alcohol now, not really a pharmacy. The frontend is also understaffed, but at least they have self checkout. There are also shelves that are half-empty and they don't really stock or sell much out front of the store anymore. Just picked up a prescription for my husband tonight. This pharmacist did not catch a major drug interaction between a long time medication and what his doctor recently prescribed. His doctor prescribed him post-surgical pain medication, and the pharmacist did not tell me that there is a potentially dangerous interaction with one of the other drugs that he is currently on. I am grateful that I double checked both medications compatibility. I wouldn't trust them to pay enough attention to what they are giving you. read more

This is a Rite Aid almost like any other Rite Aid. The lighting is dim. Some of the items in the refrigeration units may have a pale shimmer of ice on the outer packaging. At *this* particular Rite Aid, however, you might be treated to an employee insisting that the term cracker is the same as a certain pejorative for Black people. Understaffed pharmacy, minimally-informed trainees operating the cash register and not familiar with procedures, long lines, overall friendly but truly substandard service. On more than one occasion prescription was not ready for pickup despite phone notification. I dread coming to this place. Unless I can time my visit to avoid the morning and evening rush, I can look forward to wasting 20-30 minutes going through a line and then waiting for the agent to sift through a few hundred bags looking for my prescription. Perhaps their way of doing business may have been state-of-the-art in 1973, not 2023. And no, I don't want a consultation with their registered pharmacist . I just want to pick up my prescription and get on with my life. Overall, I consider a rating two stars to be a gift. read more

WARNING This rite aid pharmacy is awful!! The other poor reviews are very true. Management NEEDS to get their act together with staffing AND customer service. It's a shame they don't execute on any of this. Originally I thought maybe they are just having a few off days... nope, it's actually EVERY DAY. The pharmacy seems to be generally delayed in refilling prescriptions and over half the time I go.. it's never ready when they say it is! And if I call in... they never pick up! Or they forget to give me half the medication when I bring it home.... It's absolutely absurd how poorly run this is. I tried to be patient with them and go every month for the past few years... When I come in to pick up my grocery's, Phil has always been accommodating and very helpful. I asked to have inventory checked on a certain glucose monitor that I needed and couldn't find the right one, Phil stopped what he was doing and assisted me! Phil seems to be genuine and certainly helpful when I come in to shop. He works to help others whenever possible and always has a positive attitude towards the other people shopping in the store. This review is about the pharmacy - have been going here for decades since the place was a Payless. There has been a dramatic downturn in responsiveness of the pharmacy over the past few years. No one pics up when you call, they are insanely delayed filling prescriptions and they make medication errors on the regular. Not sure if they're understaffed or underpaid but it seems like both. I would avoid this pharmacy if possible unless it's an emergency situation. Even then I would try to avoid, you will leave feeling frustrated and possibly with the wrong prescription. read more

My son got sick at 1:30am last night, and we needed some supplies. There were limited options available so I drove down here to this Rite Aid to get some things. Super awesome that they are open 24/7. I picked up some children's Tylenol, a thermometer and a Pedialyte type drink. Prices were a little bit on the high side, but whatever, the cost of convenience I guess. The guy checking me out was friendly and I was on my way pretty quick. I wish this pharmacy was just incompetent but it goes much worse than that. I came in today to ask for a "behind the counter" item that most pharmacies carry -- bacteriostatic water. What is this? It's just sterile water with .9% benzoyl alcohol to keep germs out after being opened. What's it used for? To dilute medications and intermix medicines for injection. Well the sweet counter girl had no clue what that was so she asked the manager of the pharmacy. And came back saying not in stock! I said ok I'd like to order it.She went back to the manager and returned asking if I had a prescription? For water! I was a bit flabbergasted so I explained to her that nobody needs a prescription for this EVER! Then the manager, Roya, approached me. One glance I could tell she was loaded for bear looking at me like I was some kind of lowlife scum bag looking to do what? Make a heroin fix? Does she think heroin addicts care about using tap water? I explained to her I don't need a prescription for water, she retorted in a haughty higher than god attitude telling me that I do! I said, who says so! She responds "I SAY SO!". I ask for the manager! She responds that she is the manager and waves me off. Now she has my blood boiling. Obviously she took one look at me, after a hard workout at the Bay Club, and decided I was an ignorant lowlife and she could lie to me and push me around. You could tell this is her status quo in how she runs things around there. She refused me service and this I drove to CVS to pick some up. What can I say about this? Well this location has the lowest Yelp reviews for a drug store in all of San Diego. I came back later to talk to the store manager, a real dishrag who refused but then grudgingly shakes my hand. I guess they were also out of hand sanitizer? He had absolutely nothing to say so I explained my dissatisfaction and left. I'm not done with this place. I came in looking for travel supplied for a trip and did find what I was looking for. I actually took some extra time scoping out the rest of the store because it looked clean and well organized. It was noticeable that this Rite Aid is poorly staffed. Because of this, people would go up to the cashier up front and ask questions. Cashier would then leave with the customer and find whatever product they were looking for. Of course when I get up to the front of the line there were no more cashiers. Even the security guy was just standing around. After several minutes of awkwardness, and a growing line behind me, another employee (manager?) came up and addressed the situation. She called for "Angela and Joe" twice but they never came... She then started ringing up people. - Clean - Pretty good selection of everything including drinks and snacks. - Lack of employees helping people around the store. read more

I live within walking distance, and absolutely avoid this place when I can. The parking in the area isn't great, but like I said I typically walk here so it doesn't really come into play on this review. This review is on the store and the employees. I've been here a handful of times, and every time I come the employees seem unhappy to be working there. Last time I came in I waited 10 minutes (with no line) for someone to come scoop the ice cream. The person that does it comes straight off the cash registers, and though they wash their hands it is an odd set up. The ONLY thing that gets me in here is the single scoop ice cream, so I pop in here every once in awhile to switch up Swirls. Unfortunately with the cleanliness of the employee that scooped my ice cream last week I'm not sure I'll even be back for that. I got the butter pecan and the pecans were pretty stale. Very disappointing because other Rite Aid's are great, so I think this is an individual location problem and not a Rite Aid overall problem. read more

It is absolutely ridiculous that you go to a Rite Aid pharmacy on Delmar Heights Road two days in a row and they still can't get your medicine ready for you. My husband went yesterday waited in line for 30 minutes and they told him it would be ready tomorrow. This would've been OK but he called ahead of time and they said it was ready. So he went back today and they said that they had only one ready and that he would have to come back in 20 minutes. He went back in 20 minutes and it still wasn't ready. He is now standing in line behind 15 people because they don't have enough people working there. This happens almost every time. Something needs to change. With the cost of drug prescriptions right now they should do everything in their power to make things easier for the customer. read more

The absolute worst excuse for a pharmacy anywhere, except for any other Rite Aid store. Basically, set aside 30 minutes to wait in line, whether you need to pick up or drop off. Don't get confused by multiple registers that appear to be available to be manned by the many other employees you can see milling around back in the pharmacy. They will not help. Instead, the single cashier or intake person will attempt to handle multiple intakes or operate multiple registers, as though that in any way speeds things up. read more

This must be one of the worst run pharmacies in this area. It may have been better a year ago, but the past 6 months have been a nightmare every time I come for refills. The pharmacists are not helpful and the other staff seems to have no knowledge about much of anything related to insurance, etc., no one EVER answers the phone and they always screw up my order no matter how many times I have it filled with the exact same 4 scripts!! The only thing good about the long lines at this pharmacy is the other customers that suffer through the wait with me have always been very nice people.
