This was nearly a poor review, until I learned my lesson about choosing a plumber and discovered it is best to go with the honest option that knows what they are doing, which is what Ritz turned out to be. I called Ritz to look at my leaking shower & bath, I have one of those in-bath showers where you have to pull the little switch to get the water to switch from the bath tap to the shower head and both were dripping constantly (and water pressure sucked too). The guy who came out explained what needed to be fixed and said it would cost $620 including the new bath faucet I needed. I wasn't expecting it to cost that much so to be honest i made up an excuse about having to get to work and procrastinated. I also checked the Yelp reviews here and got a bit scared off. I then called 2 other plumbing companies that I won't name, and BOTH asked what I had already been quoted before giving me a quote - funnily enough, $550 and $500. I went with the cheaper one, figuring they would all do about the same thing. MY MISTAKE! The new guy arrived, took a look and said sure he could fix it - $500 PLUS the part PLUS the call out fee of $130, total $720, so MORE than what Ritz had quoted. He then proceeded to "fix" it because I couldn't be bothered calling anyone else. My mistake again. To cut a long story shorter, turns out this guy didn't even replace the faucet, so 2 days later it was leaking again. I tried to get him back to do it properly but after 3 tries gave up. In end, I called Ritz again because in hindsight they were the most up-front about everything and are clearly a more established company than the bum I let in the first time. I didn't like having to pay that much, but then figured what the hell do i know about plumbing prices? I learned the hard way what happens when trying to get something like this done on the cheap. Everything is now working great, including the water pressure. So I'm leaving this review because I want everyone else to learn from my lesson... when you need a plumber, it will almost always be for a problem that you didn't budget for. So you're gonna be annoyed. You're not going to want to pay whatever they quote. But if it was easy to fix, you'd fix it yourself... so really the important thing is to just get it sorted out as quickly as you can with no messing around and failed attempts to fix. If I'd stuck with Ritz on this job the first time, it would have been sorted in less than 24 hours and I probably wouldn't even have left a review. Instead, this ordeal went for over a week and cost me a bunch of time and money stuffing around. Lessons learned for me, and 5 stars for Ritz because they did what they said they would do, no messing around, even after I had to admit I had tried someone else first (which was pretty embarrassing). read more

I recently had a main sewer line backup and called Ritz out to snake it.  They came when promised and initially things went well.  They were able to fairly quickly (with my help locating the best access point) unclog the pipe ($169).  They then put a small camera down and said that there was a lot of buildup in the pipe and it would likely block up again quickly if not cleaned properly with their high-pressure washing system.   Let me say now that these folks are not really interested in solving your problem unless they can eventually convince, bully, or scare you into agreeing to a $6,000 relining of your sewer line.  This is their end-game. They will be nice and work with you until they get the slightest resistance, or question, or proposal for an alternative solution, and then it all changes.  They become rude, belligerent, and threaten to abandon you claiming they are doing the camera work for "free" when you have just agreed to pay them in excess of $700 to unclog and then "clean" the pipe. Don't you think complete camera evidence of the successful cleaning should be included in this exorbitant price? So I agree to the additional $575 for the power washing.  Afterward, the camera goes down again and things look better but there is still gunk that obscures the lens. So I can't get the information I want as to the condition of the entire pipe down to where I know it was relined years before.  At this point the leader of the "sales" team (there were four of them there at this time, so more intimidating) demands either more money to continue the camera work (when they obviously did not clean the line well enough) or I agree to the $6,000 relining project.  To be truthful, they did find a defect in this ancient iron pipe that will likely require further work in the future.  I suggested that there might be other (aside from relining) less expensive ways to fix this long term (for instance abandoning this very old section of pipe and rerouting with a new pipe). The lead guy only listened enough to then proceed to ridicule the suggestion, presumably because it did not conform to his "end game" of selling me the $6,000 relining job. In the end I paid these folks $744 to unclog a pipe, partially clean it, and give me a high-pressure sales pitch.  I will definitely be thinking of another long term solution and will definitely NOT be calling these folks again. WARNING: Stay away from these people. They are only interested in your money and will scare, push, and bully, and even ridicule your alternative suggestions if they do not align with their desire to get $6,000 out of you. Correction, i live in Marina Del Rey, Ca. Not San Francisco. I had a wonderful experience with ritz plumbing and with their very experienced and knowledgeable plumber named Oscar. The water in my main shower just wouldn't turn off. It was leaking from the shower head and one day it was just a drip, the next day it turned into what i will call a small drizzle, and by the third day that drizzle was worst. It was a Friday and i was afraid by the weekend it would then turn into a huge gush and flood my bathroom and go downstairs to the other units in my condo complex. I called Ritz plumbing and Oscar showed up in about a hour but was forced to leave because I couldn't find building maintenance to turn off the water so the work could be done. Finally i reached maintenance, and called Oscar back and Oscar coordinated a water shut off with maintenance and a time when he said he would be at my unit to do the work. Oscar was at my home 1 hour later, and he actually had to go through the trouble of going downstairs and turning the water back on! Beautiful plumbing job, no mess! I want to add on that i had a different plumbing company come to my home the day before i found ritz plumbing. Horrible scary experience!!! This plumber was so dishonest. He wanted to tear out a wall, and also tiles in the shower to find the leak/bad pipe! He then said dont worry my brother is a tile guy and he'll give you a good deal putting everything back together. None of what he wanted to do was necessary and needed to be done. It was only a problem behind the water on and off handle. That other plumbing company that i didn't use {thank God}thought they found some old lady who didnt know any better to make a whole bunch of money off of and NONE of what that company said i needed to have done was even needed or necessary! Ill be honest to say i was genuinely concerned when my toilet and shower filled up during a dinner party Tuesday night so i called for my usual plumber at Jim's plumbing. Mario always came out to my house by my request but he unfortunately no longer works there and when i read on yelp that they were under new management i nearly called someone else instead but i decided to give the new workers a chance to impress me and let me tell you i have never been more impressed with a company then i was these last few days! Jesus was extremely knowledgeable and made me feel like i was in good hands even with sewage all over my bathroom floor. The issue was larger then he anticipated and he needed a helping hand but their new supervisor Larry came over and immediately identified the issue and was in my opinion one of the sweetest and caring servicemen Ive ever met. He was amazingly easy to understand and a true professional. He took the time to explain the problem to my son and also my brother over the phone and even after the project was finished he stayed for almost 20 minutes to install my new DVD player for me free of charge! Finding an honest plumber is hard to do but finding someone who you feel cares about his customers and workmanship as much as that young man is nearly impossible. So i stand by my decision to give them a chance and even though i pray my plumbing woes are over i will always call Larry and refer him to anyone who asks. They came to our house today with Ritz truck, I guess that is because they charge the "Ritz". The woman on the phone asked for my credit card before she would even schedule me. The two technicians came in and I told them the pipe was kinked underneath my boys bathroom sink not allowing the hot water to come out on full force. They promptly told me it was calcium buildup. I asked why only on the hot side and furthermore, why isn't this happening on the other sink? He said I needed to replace the whole assembly, and also needed a water conditioner from the street or this would keep happening. I asked how much that was and he said $6795.00!! And, then he left and didn't fix anything and charged me $90 for about 5 minutes. This is ridiculous. Lucas Plumbing has been bought by a dishonest company just looking to make a quick buck. They will come to your house in a RITZ truck. Lucas NEVER asked for a credit card up front. Lucas always said "we want to be your plumber for Life". Lucas was honest and always did the right, forthright thing. They never asked for money at the visit, they billed you after the visit was complete. I called back and told the woman on the phone how upset I was and that I would write a bad yelp review. She didn't care and hung up on me. I feel pretty upset that I wasted time off of work to be here and let them in and lost $90 and worse they tried to swindle me as well into nearly $7000.00 of "extra" work. WHEW!!! BEWARE! ! ! ! Irresponsible, dishonest and unprofessional. RItz plumbing was called to perform a leak detection on a town home. The first technician came hours late, he waited even longer till the second one arrived. They talked to each other in a low voice and the second one, apparently more seasoned told him what to say. He also made a hole in the wall, could not find the leak in pipes, and could not say if the leak came from the roof because they would have to perform a test they were unwilling to do. They pretended that it could damage the place even more, which was not an issue with me, they jut did not want to do it. So they were paid $750 by check to write a report they never wrote and they never gave a diagnostic on the leak, not even by email. They made me wait a whole day, left after getting the check and never send me the report I paid them for. I was told the report would come. Weeks later, I talked to the owner who said he would look into it. I texted him a week later and my text was ignored. This is real reap off, unreliable and dishonest. An outrageous price ( as far as other companies would have charged, I learned, too late) for a service non-rendered. Yes Ritz has been in business for a long time, but since they keep buying other companies , they don't care about their customers, they have more than they can deal with. I recently had a sewer line back up that started to flood the house. I originally called Roto Rooter but they were unable to send someone out until the next day. I called Ritz plumbing and thankfully they were able to send Abraham and his guys who were at my place within the hour! I had some other plumbers come out recently for other misc plumbing items but there was always a delay of at least a day or so. Ritz was always timely and arrived when promised. Abraham and his guys were able to fix the sewer line within a day. unfortunately I had a toilet that was on the fritz as well, and Abraham again was there the following morning. Not only did he pick up the toilet from Lowes that I selected, but was able to install the new toilet, replace my galvanized line with copper, as well as replace the drywall that needed to be opened to access the pipes. Finally, I called Abraham on the following day to repair a problem I was having with water pressure in my upstairs shower. Again, Abraham was there as promised that morning to install a new shower valve that fixed the problem. Ritz may not be the cheapest but the service from Abraham in my opinion is as good as it gets. read more

After 3 long days of putting in a major new pipe line under our 65 year old home and then running a new 50 year guaranteed pipe material 40 feet more my wife and I are finally talking again. Just kidding but the whole process was truly very emotional and stressful. Thanks to our project manager Alex, A TRUE PROFESSIONAL, he kept the entire process under control.. The man made us feel very comfortable the entire time. Side bar: My wife even gave him a bit of breakfast as he had been working so long he was truly needing some nourishment. Each man that came to the house;I believe there were 5; during the 3 days were all very knowledgeable. Very brave to get so dirty. Naturally, we had to swallow a little hard at the price but we all know when working on a 65 year old home, surprises are nothing new. Now we can live comfortably knowing that we are safe and may I say very happy customers. We have used this company for over 15 years and will continue to use them, hopefully not very often. I had a Plumbing Emergency at my brand new home in the middle of the night and called a couple of plumbers who heavily advertise 24/7 service. None were capable of helping me until the next afternoon. I then remembered seeing a Ritz Plumbing truck on the freeway and called. Maria, the receptionist, listened to my problem and said that someone would be there in an hour. 45 Minutes later 2 vans pulled up and Jaime, Edwin and Rene went right to work. They actually removed my toilet and ran a camera down the pipe to show me the problem, a huge solid mass, and recommended a system clean out with a Hydro Jet. After cleaning my system and resetting the toilet, Jaime gave me a detailed analysis of my pipework, including going under the house to check on all the other pipes. Edwin, found that my Natural Gas meter was missing a Siesmic shut off switch. Jaime showed me camera footage that revealed that Siesmic activity and overall age had caused an offset in my piping that'll need further repair down the road. The gentlemen cleaned up and then departed while I actually paid 100 dollars less than estimated. Awesome Job Ritz! read more

READ the reviews below... I ignored them to my dismay. Ritz was called to fix a backed up bathroom. We have three kids, so we weren't in a great position to have no plumbing. They came out and said we needed to hydro jet, flush and run a camera. $750+$120 for the visit. We didn't feel that was right, so we called for a second opinion from LA Hydro-Jet. They cabled the main clean out and we were good to go. ($145) I contacted Ritz to have them explain the discrepancy and they said, that's the work they recommended and my $120 visit fee wasn't refundable. How could such a well know company be so incompetent. I understand the $120 fee now...Your vulnerable because you need a professional to fix your pluming and willing to try. You assume they will give you a fair assessment and price. Then, they hit you with the work order and you are stuck! Your going to pay them whether they do the work or not. Spend an extra 30 minutes an call a few plumbers that don't charge a fee just to come out. They will likely give you a fair and correct recommendation since they want to do the work! read more

These guys are thieves. They are essentially a fraud and what they do is a crime. They need to be reported to the authorities and someone should eventually hold them accountable for how they stiff people. When I called, the lady assured me that if no services were performed, I wouldn't be charged. But she insisted that I gave her a credit card which I stupidly did. The guy came, spent 5 minutes checking the water pressure regulator and gave a high price of $550 to replace it, which I smartly declined. Yet the company took it upon itself to charge my credit card $120. The thing is if you check their website, it says "free estimates". I also verified that with the lady who answered the phone and she guaranteed that there wouldn't be any charges on my card if no services were performed. Also, I never agreed to any service being performed, never signed anything and was never given an invoice or a receipt. Stay away from these guys. I will be disputing the $120 charge. After 3 days of waiting for my landlord to have someone clear/snake my drain. I called Ritz Plumbing at 5:52pm for a bath tub that was taking 12 to 16 hours to drain after a shower?! The woman on the phone was courteous and let me know that someone would be at my apartment in half an hour. -it was too late in the day for other companies I called to come out. Carlos and Gustavo arrived in under half an hour. I explained my drain had been slow for weeks and that I had done 2 rounds of natural drain cleaners and 2 rounds of draino over the last 2 weeks. They said they could snake it and that possibly the draino had eaten away at the brass -just so if something happened I was aware that the draino had caused the issue. (1st time ever using draino, won't do that again?!) They were able to clear the clog. YAY! And they were very informative when I asked them questions (just because I was curious) and were extremely professional. I'm very grateful for their kind, quick, and efficient service. read more

last night (saturday) at about 9:30 pm, i walked into my downstairs bathroom which was totally flooded with blue water. turns out it was my neighbors bathroom that has the blue water and both of our places were underwater. she called a few plumbers, none of whom responded. it was sheer luck that connected her with ritz plumbing and SPECIFICALLY adrain a. they showed up within an hour. all 3 guys were great. they didn't do the once-over-fix-the-surface repair. they were here until way past midnight making sure that we could at least use our downstairs bathrooms until they could come back this morning (sunday) and fix the total problem. i've lived here through over 40 years worth of plumbers, who sometimes knew what they were doing and a lot of times didn't. i would not trust anyone else to repair the plumbing in our building again. adrain a and his team were not only professional but great guys as well. i'd ask for them if you want your work done correctly. read more

Yesterday I came home to by bathroom sink half filled with water. I called around many plumbers but the first part of locating a plumber was the woman who answered. She was sweet, courteous and extremely helpful. I was then scheduled an appointment very promptly Like within the next hour and it was between 10 pm and 11 pm and he was there at 10:20 pm! Excellent and Awesome! Frank C. who showed up was extremely prompt and professional. It is nice to have an honest provider in the service industry who does not overcharge for services. Frank C. showed us tricks for drain fixes and a great options to avoid this from happening again. He taught my girlfriend and I about what went wrong and felt very very satisfied with the service. Plumbers can cost a lot of money, i feel very comfortable recommending to friends. Ritz is a known repeat offender of scams and shoddy work, often against trusting older folks. They also do business as A & B Plumbing and Jet Speed Plumbing. The California Contractors State Licensing Board (CSLB) sued this company in 2017. I and around 6 or 7 other parties were subpoenaed as witnesses, having been scammed by them. I have a file 2 inches thick, and lost countless hours of my life documenting their fraud. The suit somehow was settled to CSLB's satisfaction without MY having the satisfaction of going to court. I managed to get all my money back by filing a claim against their bond. This company should have all their fake DBAs and licenses taken away but somehow they manage to stay in business. Gustavo, the head of the team and his partner showed up at the promised time and found the problem right away, main line backing up the entire house caused by tree roots. They called in additional guys with specialized equipment and worked every minute on 6/19 the 112 degree day in the valley and finally called it a night at 9:30 to let the glue set that was injected into the long pipe connecting into the cities street line. Gustavo then showed up on his own the following morning and completed the job expediently, and professionally and fully explained throughout the entire repair. They gave me different levels of pricing up front based on the degree of work I wanted completed and all went flawlessly. I highly recommend Gustavo and Ritz and finally after years of my problem emerging to be fixed with bandaids it is fixed and no more worries on this one. read more
