Carnitas lovers, this place is definitely worth trying. The burrito is consistently flavorful, the meat is tender, and it scratches that comfort food craving every time. When everything comes together, it's an easy favorite. My only frustration and it's happened more than once is ordering through Uber Eats and opening the bag to find there's no salsa. Normally that wouldn't be a huge deal, but their salsa is honestly one of the best parts of the meal. The burrito just isn't the same without it, and it's disappointing when you've already paid for delivery and can't exactly run back for it. The food keeps me coming back, but I really hope they start double checking delivery orders before they go out. Showed up at 11:45, waited in line for nearly 20 minutes until 12:02 I finally got to pull up to order. When I tried ordering chicken tacos(the Wednesday deal) they told me it wasn't Wednesday anymore and couldn't do that. Even after I told them I had been waiting 20 minutes, they told me they wouldn't do it. Made me wait at the window another 5 minutes before telling me it would be 26$ for my tacos instead of 8. Never had a worse fast food experience in my LIFE. YOU make me wait until 2 minutes after midnight and then don't honor the deal? I'm never coming back. Owner: I showed up after I got off work for the day. That's as early as I can get there. I arrived with plenty of time and they took so long to get ONE car their order, that I could go up to the window. I'm fully aware there were cars in the line, but that's no excuse for taking 20 minutes to move a single car space. I told myself I wouldn't go back to a Rivas after having food at one location that, we'll say afterwards didn't sit well with me. I love their breakfast burritos. This location does it right. We decided to hit the drive through although inside the restaurant didn't look very busy. You could tell there were happy patrons inside enjoying their meal that evening, a very chill setting this evening. Fritz had the ham breakfast burritos and I had mine with bacon. Man--weighty, packed with eggs, plenty of protein and potatoes! Their salsa de verde (the green sauce) creamy, spicy, delicious. It's the second time I had a burrito from their location and for whatever reason I didn't leave a review I had to correct that mistake tonight. That hit the spot. The graveyard shift is ripping people off. Any other shift this place is great. Ordering 3 beef rolled tacos seems to be too much for the graveyard shift because both times they screw it up by saying they only sell 5 and not 3 and upon agreeing to 5 both times they screw up which kind, first time i got 5 cheese only rolled tacos and again tonight same schpeel with the only selling 5 and this time i got chicken, no beef. Riva's Mexican Grill is definitely a step up from Taco Bell--maybe around the level of Del Taco. It's not mind-blowing, but it gets the job done when you're craving late-night Mexican food. The best part? It's open 24 hours, and the staff is super chill. The guy at the drive-thru window is always ready for a conversation, which is pretty entertaining--especially if you're rolling through a bit tipsy and nothing else is open. Drove past on our way home and decided to grab dinner out since I forgot to defrost protein. Rivas is definitely middle of the line Mexican food and I'm never sad after I eat. I am full and enjoy the taste but it isn't my first pick every time. I must say they make a really good torta so I get that every time. The horchata was very sweet and not my style. The taquitos were okay but not very flavorful. The restaurant is clean and simple but the seats are uncomfortable. The cashier is always pretty short with us and will try to make you order quicker even if you have questions about the menu. So I always go in knowing what I want to avoid that interaction. The kids and I met my hubby for dinner the other night and we were optimistic about our first visit. A friend of ours lives nearby and recommended we try their food. They offer a variety of selections on their menu and there is something for everyone. One of my kids is super picky, so when we select any restaurant it's somewhere she'll eat. Their salsas both green and red were spicy, but like the rest of the food, they lacked flavor and every entrée was drenched in lard. Came in for a quick take out bite to eat. Upon entering the dining room, I noticed that it was empty, but clean. Nobody greeted us when we came in or while we were reviewing the menu. When we stepped up to order, the man at the counter walked away and a younger guy came back to take our order. I ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito and my wife ordered the pastor combo plate. While we were waiting, we grabbed a couple containers of salsa, one red and one green. The food was ready a few short minutes later. The burrito was a good size and packed with yummy goodness. They contain potatoes, eggs, cheese, pico and the protein of your choice. We also asked for green salsa as well. When we opened the bag we discovered these breakfast burritos were huge! My wife had the bacon burrito and really enjoyed it. I had the sausage burrito and enjoyed it as well. It's cool that the drive-thru is open 24-hours too! Riva's is our absolute favorite mexican food in Reno! Granted, I've never been in-person so I can't speak to service or ambience, but the takeout is always quick to deliver. The menu is extensive and everything we've ordered has been amazingly flavorful and fresh. If you're looking for recs, the shrimp or pastor combo add cilantro, onions, and guac is my go-to, and any of the quesadillas and nachos. They always give plenty of red and green sauce, overall they're very generous with portions and proteins! Can a person write an accurate review after one visit? Possibly. That's like assuming you know a person after a first date. With that being said, I have made numerous visits here. I have never had a bad experience or meal. My order has always been fresh, hot, and accurate. What I appreciate is the chicken is grilled, not shredded. Also, the chips are made in-house and are always warm with a perfect crunch, which makes the nachos a fantastic choice. The staff is exceptional. On my last visit, a lady came in and was visibly upset because she placed an online order, and it wasn't ready. After looking at her confirmation email, the employee pointed out that she had placed the order for the Carson City restaurant. The employee then called Carson City, canceled the order, and fulfilled her order there. This lady came in hot and to see how the staff was patient and still helped her, showed how amazing they are. Highly decent Mexican food. Prices are on the lower end and the portions are gigantic. My husband got the steak chimichanga and he really liked it. It's heavily stuffed and he was only able to eat half of it. I got the chiles rellenos. The red sauce on them is so unique and slightly spicy, which I loved. The chiles are also ginormous and I was only able to eat one. Such a great find. We ordered through the Drive-thru and the cashier was polite and pleasant...great customer service. First time my wife and I have eaten here. Got a doordash delivery which was pretty quick, so I'd say the the quality was about the same. So what do I think? There is potential here, but also some disappointment. First, crunchy chicken tacos. Great crunch, nice fresh tortilla. Chicken tasted great. Lots of cheese and toppings and such. Only downside? A little expensive. Almost $4 for one. Not very big for that price. Now, the Al Pastor wet burrito? Not bad. But a little weird. I was kinda confused eating it. The pork wasn't bad. Had a good texture. The sauce covering it wasn't bad. But the whole thing just didn't sense to my taste buds, all put together. Felt like I was eating two different dishes mashed together in a smothered tortilla. Would I try it again? Probably not with the Al pastor. We also ordered carne asada fries, which I did not try, but my wife said were "hella good" We also had the rolled tacos, but again, I'd describe them as weird, not good. Covered in sauce and whatnot.
