The restaurant is not easy to find and in an office building. With that said the restaurant looks very nice once inside. The view is the bank of the river. Nothing special. It took forever to be seated and then another 10 minutes for someone to come over with waters. We were there 1:00 on a Saturday. No one had eaten yet and we were all very eager to try this new restaurant. The menu in front of us was a brunch menu. With a few breakfast items and then 4 or 5 lunch items. That's it. When our waters finally came I asked to see a lunch menu and the waitress said it was brunch and this was what they were serving. Needless to say we all got up and left. I have never seen a restaurant only serve a brunch menu. Especially on a Saturday. The mini was also limited. Highly disappointed. This review is based on one night. So a good friend of mine wanted to celebrate her birthday here. Ambience / atmosphere: I was underwhelmed what the atmosphere inside of the restaurant. Simple decor, modern cables and some dim lighting. The most impressive part is the riverfront View and the riverfront deck. The restaurant was Extremely Loud. It had no proper waiting area. The bar was full of loud people LOL. The crowd was mostly late forties and up. Service: The hostess appeared to be extremely busy but managed to find a table outside for us. Our server was adorable and assisted us with questions. The problem is that the food took forever to get to our table. Food We ordered an antipasto platter for the table. It was pretty good. We also had complementary bread. We ordered a lot of different dishes. One person had the calamari as their entree. They stated it was pretty good but not the best I ever had. Another person ordered the Lobster ravioli. She said it was delicious but disappointed she had to pay $20 for five raviolis. One person ordered fish with the white polenta. She stated it was okay. I had the chicken scarpariello dinner. I honestly did not like it. If you're going to put chicken thighs in a skillet I expect the skin to be crispy. I'm not sure how they prepared it but it tasted as if it was boiled and thrown into a convection oven for a little color. I did not taste the garlic cream flavor day stated on the menu. Sadly not a great experience. Had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table outside, totally understandable seeing as it's a Friday night and they were busy. The male host was excellent and extremely nice! Got sat at our table and waited about 15-20 minutes before anyone even came over. When the server came over we just ordered some wine and our entrees. It wasn't until another 30 minutes went by that we got the wine, along with some glasses of water. Can't say I've ever been to a restaurant that took 45 minutes to get water onto a table. The food came out relatively quickly and was extremely good. But pretty surprised there were no managers on the floor checking in with guests at the tables. I will preface this by saying that it seemed like they were short staffed or in between shifts when we went in (Friday around 5:45) as the service was not the best. Hoping maybe we just caught them at a bad time. The person that ended up serving us was very nice and efficient but we were at the table we were seated at without being greeted or even served water for a good 15 minutes. What a total disappointment on Easter Sunday...Went here 1st time in November. . Food and service was great, . Bill around $150.00 Beyond bad this time out. We had called twice to make sure the regular menu was also in effect in addition to the Easter menu. Twice we were told yes. We wanted to make sure before we drove 157 miles. Upon arriving, we were informed that the regular menu was not available. Told the manager we were very unhappy, had come up especially to go to River for both Easter and my wife's birthday. We decided to order off the brunch menu for appetizers. None of the items we loved were on the menu. We then planned to order the leg of lamb Easter specials as our entrees. The order came out after about 20 minutes. My wife had asked the waitress in advance if what she wanted was spicy, she can't tolerate spicy food. She said no. I ordered the eggs, sausage, waffle and potatoes. When I tried the food, it was very cold. For more than 10 minutes we tried to get our waitress who wasn't in the area. We asked a waitstaff person to get her, he never came back, finally we spotted him and he brought Michelle, the manager over. If there was ever a person unsuited for customer service, Michelle is its embodiment. Instead of addressing that my wife couldn't eat hers, she referred to the menu and said it was explained there, where they used the word "zesty" Yes, but zesty can mean many things, that's why we asked the waitress. She had no comment on the cold food. She did reference to us that their website had listed there would be an Easter menu (When we first called, nothing was up on the website, that's why we called to make sure it would also have the regular menu.) We weren't going to drive 2 1/2 hours to have eggs or items we might not want. Michelle was totally blase, we figured if the first round food and service was this bad, we would leave and try to find another place to eat last minute. Most managers would have done something, anything, to keep an obviously unhappy repeat customer. Michelle's answer was "I'll bring you the check.", even though we hadn't eaten anything. Got there for happy hour, and we're guided toward the charming deck overlooking the Connecticut River. Limited menu choices are reduced from regular prices, so we also saved a few $$$. My wife had a delightful Sangria, and I had a local-brewed Mail Truck beer. We shared a White Pizza with all kinds of marvelous toppings. Melissa was a charming server, offered suggestions to steer us to each of our selections, and followed up with excellent service. Ordered food and drinks at 7:10, had to inquire about the appetizer we ordered at 7:45, and when the appetizer was delivered about 10 min later we were then asked again what we wanted to order when we put that order in at 7:10. Fantastic place. Matt the bartender is extremely knowledgeable about liquor and made sure to check on me as I ate. I had The River martini one night and the apple cider martini the next night. Both were awesome and I love how the apple cider martini had the cinnamon rim. For food I had three appetizers: thick cut bacon, shrimp cocktail and steak skewers. All were superb (especially the bacon). The skewers were a little lukewarm or maybe just didn't hold their heat as I was trying different things (I ate pretty quickly though). My first entree was the lobster roll. They accommodated my dairy/egg intolerance and had no problem checking ingredient lists. I had also had the asiago salmon which was really good, including some delicious and atypical vegetables like whole yellow carrots. The next night I had two orders of their signature burger. Also really, really good. My patty was more medium than medium well so they cooked it more. I was able to get their house made fries without extra salt which was a huge plus. Came in with a small group of my girlfriends and it was the most bizarre night. Let's start with the pros: Amazing view and patio is very well heated. We all had our jackets on, but were still comfortable. Lights on the trees made a very pretty scene. The food itself was to die for, as were the drinks. Decent wine selection. Now time for the biggest con, which was the service itself. Ilene started off pleasant but as time went on, it was very obvious she was getting more and more hostile. I didn't think we were being demanding and we even made an effort to not be once we noticed her odd irritation. She started getting sarcastic and her whole demeanor was different. It was confusing up until my girlfriend was on her way back from the restroom. Ilene must not have noticed her coming and was talking to the bartender and another woman how the heat needed to be turned off outside so we could hurry up and get out because she needed to leave and get a drink. Maybe she started that process before her work night ended and that's why the out-of-the-blue mood change. We realized we were one of the only ones in there besides a man at the bar top, but we thought we were fine to finish our drinks quickly and go. The bartender wasn't rushing her customer out the door. We just paid and left. Definitely a horrible experience towards the end. What started off as a great night turned so bad because of one person. My husband and I came here early-ish (around 5pm on a Saturday) to be outside and enjoy the patio, and we didn't make a reservation because on OpenTable it said outdoor seating was non-reservable and only available on a first come first serve basis (see picture attached); however, when we arrived the hostess said all the outdoor seating was booked for the evening. First time here. My husband surprised me with this location for our anniversary. The view is beautiful. There was a limited menu and I chose fried clam strips, which were so salty, I couldn't finish my dish. Although the waitress was very nice, she didn't offer to refund our dish, seeing that I didn't eat it. Our drinks also had to be sent back because they beyond sour. They added sweetener and we drank it. Also, when my husband first called and made reservations, he mentioned it was our anniversary and nothing was mentioned when we got to restaurant. Visited here on a Thursday evening, without a reservation (which is frowned upon btw), but the hostess was able to find a table for our party. The restaurant was busy and bustling. Had to ask 4 times for another chair to be added to the table, but once we started to review the menu and get bread with oil and cheese (had to ask for more bread as they gave us two bread sticks for 5 people).... things went smoothly. Pina Colada was really delicious and a man who I can only assume was the head waiter or owner (?) paid special attention to the details with us which was nice. Food was very good, too much to eat in one sitting which made lunch the next day enjoyable. Did not feel crowded at our table, although craving to be outside, it was raining. Nice view! I ordered Pan Seared Tunisian Chicken (parmesan risotto/ spinach/Roasted peppers/ Moroccan cream sauce). Had an amazing time at this hidden gem! My sister and I went there for dinner on a rainy evening. It was sunny the whole day but when we got there it started to rain and we were afraid that we won't get to sit outside. Turns out it was a covered patio and we were able to sit outside and enjoy our meal while watching the rain. There was pleasant jazz music playing in the background which made the ambience delightful. I got the hot lobster roll (you can also get it cold) and my sister ordered Caesar salad. Staff were polite and everyone was wearing masks except at the tables while having dinner. In fact- we are going back there tonight! The food is horrible. We've tried this place a few times because of the potential with the great setting and location (live just a few miles away). To the owners...Please fire the chef, go to J Gilbert's, Carbones, burtons grill or many of the other good area restaurants and taste their food. I think you'll notice the difference. We ordered pretty safe hoping for a good experience. Burger, Caesar salad, and clam strips. Strips were salty, over seasoned (maybe because of an out of the box fish fry) and cold. Burger had a weird taste (was it to much smoke in a bottle?) and the Caesar salad tasted like a low budget store brand dressing mixed with feet. The menu is small enough with a couple dozen items that every dish should be amazing. Heard good things from people so I tried it out. Came for happy hour on a Monday with my wife and sat at the bar. Service was great at first but then our bartender disappeared. We had to flag another down to put in food and 3 of the 4 dishes came out quickly and tasted alright hence the 2 stars, but we never saw anyone again or that fourth item. I wanted to order more food and drinks but couldn't get anyone to look at me, no one came to clean up the empty plates either. My husband and I went for the first time for our anniversary. I was glad that I chose to sit outside, even though it was raining, because it was a really nice view and was the highlight of our meal. We ordered 3 apps, the crabcakes, the shrimp cocktail and the clam chowder. I always order crab cakes when they are on the menu. These cakes were meh. They were not very flavorful and certainly not worth the price. The shrimp were a bit overcooked. Maybe they would have tasted better if that weren't the case. The chowder was good. They put their own spin on it and a had a slight "kick" to it but not overly so. Just know that it's not your usually chowder, My husband had the Neptune Special. They were kind enough to allow him to substitute the calamari for more clam strips. Sadly, again, the shrimp were overcooked, as well as the cod. Were just not into rubbery seafood. And, the clamstrips seemed ok at first but then left me with a weird taste in my mouth. I had the braised short ribs. First of all, I've never had braised ribs in perfect circular, 3" medallions. Second of all, it was tough and the flavor of the gravy wasn't pleasant for me. So between that and being tough, the waiter took it and offered for me to choose something else. He was very apologetic and really wanted to make me happy, so points for that. I just really wasn't impressed with anything that I had eaten thus far, so declined anything else. I love this place. The food is amazing, drinks are yummy and I love the patio. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the water. Today our server was Erich. He was the best so far! Funny, courteous and very attentive. He recommended drinks and food choices, which all turned out to be so good! Seriously can not say enough good things about him. I hear stories around town about the manager being a jerk and not being accommodating to their patrons (like this one time I ordered a new drink, took one sip and did not like it but the manager made me pay for it), but service like we got today from Erich keeps me coming back! We went in spite of the many reviews that made it sound like the front-of-house is a disorganized mess. Guess what? The front of house (i.e. service) is a disorganized mess. I'm giving one star for the view (no point sitting inside) and one star for the food - which was pretty good once the right food finally came. Details: Sat at the bar to start with a drink. 4 people working frantically behind the bar. It was a solid 10 minutes before anyone even made eye contact with us. Got a table outside (where the view is lovely). It took us a little while to realize that the hostess had handed the 4 of us 3 different versions of the menu. One with two pages of appetizers, two others outdated versions featuring dishes not available. I overheard other tables having the same issue. It was a solid 15 minutes before we saw a waiter. We asked for water. 5 minutes later, a different waiter came by with a pitcher to refill our water glasses (we still hadn't gotten any). One of our party noticed someone at another table having something that wasn't on the menu - scallops over risotto. The waiter assured us it was something they could provide, so she ordered it as her entree. Just a few minutes later, a server gave her a bowl (like a cereal bowl) of scallops. Just scallops. What kitchen thinks that's something to send out? The server apologized, left the scallops, and went back to get risotto. 10 minutes later, the original waiter came, apologized for the mix up, and took them away. Good thing too, because it was about 45 minutes before we saw the waiter again or any food. We had arrived at the restaurant at 6:30pm. We were served our food at 8:40. The whole time we were there, I could hear waiters apologizing to patrons for this or that screw-up. Our waiter was very personable, and gave us a sincere apology for each screw-up. I'm afraid he gets a lot of practice doing that. I actually felt bad for him. In summary, I can't recommend this restaurant. It's too bad because it's a good spot with decent food. But the service experience we had was so consistently screwed up, that I have to conclude they don't have the leadership, training and/or staff to get it right, and I would have no expectation that a 2nd visit would go better. read more

I wanted to like this place very badly. Unfortunately, I am compelled to give it one star. The food itself deserves more but there were so many things wrong that I would NEVER go back nor recommend that you try it. 1. Made a reservation on Open Table and when we got there they said we did not have a reservation, despite receiving an email from open table after our dinner asking us why we didn't show up for our reservation. 2. They had no pinot noir available either by the glass or the bottle. 3. We were brought an appetizer that we did not order and that was intended for another table. 4. There were at least five occasions that I counted where the weight staff was unable to locate where to deliver the food they were carrying. 5. We ordered a bottle of wine (pinot noir), that they finally said they "found" and the bar staff brought a glass instead of a bottle and when we corrected the order she didn't even leave the glass of wine that had been poured. 6. I order the bottle of wine and they brought it to my husband to make sure it was "OK" and to have the taste. Grrrr... 7. THEY WERE OUT OF SIRLOIN STEAK and did not inform us ahead of time which delayed our order. What restaurant runs out of sirloin steak and pinot noir? 8. We waited a VERY long time for our entrees to arrive. Our server kept coming over to tell us that there was a back up in the kitchen but she did not offer to bring us anything while we waited. 9. A glass of wine was delivered to our table, that we didn't order, with cork in it and the bar staff said she would take the cork out and bring it back even though we didn't order it. She never brought it back. 10. The roasted cauliflower was cold. 11. The mushrooms were cold. 12. We were not comped for ANYTHING, not even offered a free drink or dessert. The ambience outside on the deck was nice, not awesome and our waitress was nice and apologetic but the look on her face was like this happened all the time. We asked for water and she brought out three glasses instead of four. The fourth glass didn't arrive until later. During the meal, she hardly checked on us. Water glasses were not refilled. We could barely flag her down to let her know we had an issue with our order. When the new order came out, they didn't offer to clear the table to make room for the new dishes. When we were ready to just get out of there, I had to flag her down again to ask for our check. What is so annoying about that is that she already knew we were done so why not just stop by and ask about whether we want dessert or the check. Food: We only ordered entrees. We ordered t-bone steak, chicken saltimbocca, and two lobster raviolis. We waited a half-hour for our food and were not offered any bread or anything during the wait. When the food finally arrived, the lobster ravioli was flavorless. My son and I tried to eat it but it was just an exercise in chewing. We were almost half-way into the entree when the incredibly absent server stopped by and offered shredded cheese. I said "Pour it on!" That helped a bit. Then the manager came by and said she learned about the ravioli and offered us something else. We ordered buffalo chicken pizza. After about 10 minutes, the pizza came out and it was good. It had blue cheese dressing on it instead of ranch, so it threw the flavor off but it was good. The t-bone steak was not seasoned. Very disappointing for a $42 entree. read more

We had a very nice dinner and Cody was an excellent waiter. My husband said his eggplant Parmesan was a bit too salty, but the rest of us loved our meals. I had the braised short ribs with pappardelle pasta, it was heavenly. My son had a burger and fries with no complaints, and my MIL had the eggplant as well, and ate every bite happily. Don't be caught of guard by the fact that this restaurant is located in a corporate office building. Once you walk through the building you will find a lovely restaurant that sits directly on the Connecticut River. My overall experience was five stars. Our waitress Amanda was excellent. She walked through the gluten free options and was very honest about entrees that she hadn't tried. For starters our choice of New England clam chowder and maple glazed bacon was delicious. Our entrees, which included braised short ribs and salmon was also delicious. The ambiance was so nice that we talked for an hour before ordering dessert. The creme' brûlée did not disappoint. First time at this restaurant. I would give 1 star but the service was very good (Our waitress Rose, very nice). However everything else about our experience was not so good. We ordered our food and appetizer at the same time like we usually do when we go out, expecting the appetizer to come out first, however at first we were brought the wrong app, so it caused our correct app and food to come out at the same time. We got the NY Strip and Seafood Linguini. The steak was supposed to be medium rare, however it came out over cooked, almost medium well. The seafood linguini was super fishy tasting in a bad way and the shrimp was super tough to crew, so much that I couldn't eat it. I will say the mashed potatoes and fried mozzarella were very good, but that was the only good part about our meal. Quality of the food does not match the price... will not be going back. read more

We had a great experience! As many have pointed out, this restaurant is in a bizarre location. You'll keep thinking "Am I in the right parking lot? This is an office building...". Nice view BUT be prepared to pay $2.00 if you want ice cubes in your drink. Plus for a table of 6, driving 2 hours from different locations to meet for a special occasion ..an AWFUL experience. Service almost ok, but drinks were suspect, and they only delivered 4 of the 6 meals and then disappeared-two orders for swordfish were never brought to the table and after asking continuously for almost 1-1/2 hours what the heck was going on the "manager" Elizabeth came over and was basically inept, and said she couldn't do anything just pay the bill" . Then the alleged "owner" finally came over (after we were told she wasn't around) and she was more of a moron and kept saying someone was lying ???? and refused to do anything about it other than say they would "comp" us for the meals that they didn't deliver-neither one cared at all and basically implied they could care less -just give us money-and never offered anything in the way of any consideration-as far as a professional organization I would say the more people they treat like this the more they will get what they deserve-nothing!!! If they are a professional organization-they are screwed because people like their staff will kill them!
