Wow ! There is a new steakhouse in Glastonbury (been here about 4 months). The company already has a location in Middletown. The bartender (Misty, not here on Wednesday and Sundays) even shook my hand here to greet me! The music in here is perfect too (Frank Sinatra, etc). Red Fox Restaurant is a Mediterranean/American restaurant in Middletown, CT. The space at Red Fox is diverse: In addition to dining rooms, we have a bar, banquet room and alfresco dining on a patio - often accompanied by live music. The bold and delicious food hints at the Montenegrin roots of its chef and owner, Fico Cecunjanin - though he's expertly adapted his cooking to Italian cuisine. Red Fox is a premier and authentic Mediterranean Restaurant that has been proudly serving the Middletown area and beyond since 2015. Since then, our mission has been to provide high-quality food for all those that wish to combine fun and enjoyable ambiance with skillful cooking into one extraordinary dining experience. For my first drink , I'm having a Manhattan. This one is made with Maker's Mark (their "well" for whiskey?!). What's better than that?! House cocktails are 1/2 price from 3 PM - 6 PM 7 days a week! That's unbelievable! This is a great tasting drink let me tell you! The Manhattan is one of six basic drinks listed in David A. Embury's 1948 classic The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks. For my first food item, I'm having the Angus Prime Beef Parmigiana Mini Meatballs in fra Diavolo sauce (off of the Happy Hour menu). These are delicious ! It's a big bowl with a lot of sauce. I mean a LOT. What's interesting is that bartender calls me by my name! That's a good memory. It is unclear how "Fra" became attached to the name of a deviled (i.e. spicy) sauce, but the name was possibly influenced either by the nickname of celebrated Italian guerilla/bandit Michele Pezza, or the opera of the same name by Daniel Auber. For my next food item, I'm having the Classic Wedge salad which is a refreshing cold wedge of iceberg lettuce topped with crispy bacon , tomatoes crumbled blue cheese and topped with a blue cheese dressing. I'm having half the normal amount of cheese . It looks about right! This came out in record time! It is delicious ! For my next item, I'm having a bowl of Pasta Faglioli. This is a homemade soup made with onions , prosciutto (uncooked, unsmoked, and dry-cured ham), beans and pasta in a rich, tomato herb sauce. This is real good ! For my entree, I'm having a 10 Oz Filet Mignon (cooked medium) served with a side of fresh spinach. I'm also trying the horseradish cream sauce. All of the steaks are wet-aged 60+ days. This is delicious ! Cooked perfectly "! The sauce is great! The portion of spinach is huge! Wet-aging has been around for less than 60 years Due to the small amount of filet mignon able to be butchered from each animal it is generally considered one of the most expensive cuts of beef. For my next drink , I'm having a Cosmopolitan. This one is made with Luksusowa vodka. These are real good brands for "well" drinks during a Happy Hour. A cosmopolitan, or informally a cosmo, is a cocktail made with vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice, and freshly squeezed or sweetened lime juice. In 2010, W.J. Deutsch & Sons, Ltd. became the exclusive United States importer for Luksusowa. Before my meal shows up, they offer complementary bread and roasted, red pepper relish (butter is optional). That is a LOT of bread ! I also got a clean knife for my entree. This bread is fresh baked every morning at their bakery in Middletown. It is warm, soft and moist. Wow ! For my dessert , I'm having their creme brûlée with Grand Marnier. Look at this presentation! There is a pastry chef ‍ who is absolutely phenomenal! This is yummy ! For my after dinner, dessert drink, I'm having the Red Fox Signature Martini made with coconut vodka, cranberry juice and orange juice. The smoke is caused by dry ice . This is off-menu and only available to "special" clients like me! It's light, not too strong and overall a delicious drink! I'm near the end of the drink and it's still chilled . To wrap it up, I'm having a cup of black coffee . I need it! This place is awesome! You will not be disappointed!

We went for happy hour and stayed all night! Food was spectacular! The clams at $1 for happy hour and drinks half price were a win win right there! We stayed and had the pork chops that were amazing stuffed with fontina and spinach. Amazing. We added the stuffed shrimp for $18. The burger on happy hour was Incredible too. Cooked to perfection and quality meat! Misty, Arta and Omar all were amazing. Each lovely and attentive! The vibe is relaxed and ready for you to enjoy tHe quality food!

Husband and I don't get date nights away from our toddler often. I wanted it to be special. Red Fox was the PERFECT choice! The aesthetic was great and the food was absolutely delicious. Meadow was our waiter and he was so nice, attentive, etc. Husband got ribeye and I got chicken tortellini, bread for the table, glasses of Moscato... YUM. I cannot wait to go back!

    Ravioli from the bar menu

One of the best happy hours we've been to! Omar was very nice, attentive and gave great suggestions for food and drinks. He also makes an amazing espresso martini- highly recommend. We sat outside on the patio, very cute and spacious. We will definitely be back.

Steak was perfectly cooked with a lovely crust, but just a tad on the salty side. Mashed potatoes were delicious and the brussels were done really well. The ambience in the restaurant is lovely and the music was wonderful. The wine list is extensive and the price points are accessible. If you like Frank Sinatra and wine you will want to stay a while.

Went for lunch and had high expectations. That may have been my mistake. Asked for a bottle of wine that was on their menu but they did not have it. Ordered their filet mignon. The masked potatoes and mushroom gravy was delicious. The mignon was good. Just not out of this world. Also got the chicken and steak tenderloin tips. It didn't come with the Barney rice mentioned on the menu and for some reason the waiter didn't tell us and didn't consult with us to offer alternatives. We just got another plate of mashed potatoes. The thing with bring an expensive place is that with high prices comes high expectations for quality service and good, both which were ok but that's not enough given the price tag. The host did try to make things better but it's not an experience I'm seeking to repeat.

I'm back! The restaurant is located on 389 Main St. in East Hartford, CT. It's been a few months…read moresince I was last here (December) which is a crime. Carmine's is a fresh from scratch kitchen that is ALWAYS open. Their appetizers, pastas, entrees and desserts combine old-world traditional Italian flavor with a modern flair for presentation, and the freshest ingredients around. Menu staples like rigatoni bolognese, fettuccine carbonara and chicken Milanese are coupled with unique recipes like chicken ala vodka and toasted almond cake. They've staffed the kitchen with a dream team of chefs and you can tell instantly! They also do parties, catering and online ordering/delivery. The restaurant is well known for its live music. There is never a cover and parking is always free. This place and produces absolutely amazing food and drinks. I have noticed quite a few menu changes. The Happy Hour menu has expanded. It's also no longer all day Monday. The main menu no longer has prices on featured drinks (although that's the tre d these days). Note that the Bar Bites menu is available open to close! The Main Menu looks the same although there is a new Wine List (that's a first here). The music is very pleasant and the right volume level. It's always a big cool in here too. For my first drink, I'm having a Pratt N Whiskey. This is made with Woodford Reserve Bourbon, sweet vermouth, red wine and sour mix. It's definitely an unusual drink. It's not garnished, but it tastes great. The wine sticks out for sure. It's clearly a shaken drink not often found with a whiskey component except for maybe Whiskey Sours. For my first item, I'm having the House Salad made with spring mix, basil, tomatoes, julienned (thinly sliced) carrots, cucumbers and house red wine vinaigrette dressing. This is a big portion! I love this dressing! This tastes great! For my next item, I'm trying the Carmine's Secret Tenderloins. These are off of Carmine's "Secret Menu." They are pan seared, caramelized chicken tenderloins, made with wine, olive oil, cracked black pepper (dried black peppercorns broken into coarse, uneven pieces), kosher salt (a coarse, flaky salt named for its use in the Jewish koshering process of drawing blood from meat), shredded Parmesan and a very special "secret sauce." I'm curious as to what this sauce tastes like. Wow! Nice presentation! These are good! I love that sauce! There's a good crowd in here (20 people). Only one worker (bartender and server). She's damn good at what she does! For my next drink, I'm having a Connecticut Cosmo. This is made with Litchfield Vodka, Wild Moon Cranberry, Triple Sec and lime juice. This vodka is the Gold Medal Winner 2018 & 2019 at the New York International Spirits Competition. Silver Medal Winner at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition! Our Gluten-Free Batchers' Vodka is distilled from luscious corn grown during the beautiful summer months in Somers, CT. We distill 4 ¾ times and use a gravity-fed charcoal filter that takes 12 hours to filter 100 gallons. The longer the vodka sits on the charcoal, the more impurities are removed, which creates an incredibly smooth taste. Bottled at 80 proof. It is impeccably clean, slightly sweet, velvety smooth mouthfeel and sweet buttery overtones. It's smooth with a warm finish with subtle notes of sweet ripe corn at the end. I actually sat down next to the owner of the Distillery at a wine pairing dinner at Flemings in West Hartford about 7-8 years ago. This looks nice! Wow! This has great flavor! For my next item, I'm having the Rigatoni Matinara. Rigatoni is a large, tube-shaped pasta with ridges on the outside and straight-cut ends. Marinara sauce is a tomato sauce usually made with tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and onions. I don't eat pasta all that often. This will serve as my appetizer before I hit the main course. This is a BIG portion! It is very good! For my entree I'm having the Pan Seared Salmon which is "hand cut" salmon with zesty orange glaze served over mashed potatoes with seasonal vegetables (broccoli). Add LOTS of crushed red pepper. Nod that's "LOTS." This is spicy! My kinda spicy! The plate is nice and hot! I like the presentation. This tastes great! What a great meal here!

This may be, perhaps, the best Happy Hour I have ever seen anywhere. It's EVERY DAY from 3:30-6. The food item options are huge (20-25) plus three dessert choices. There's are also seven quality mixed drinks, three beers and seven wines! OMG! The bartender recognized me! I haven't been here since January 2025 (1 1/3 years ago). She is even knew where I sat! The menu is unchanged except for a few minor things. For my first drink, I'm having the Max Manhattan made with Old Overholt Rye, Cinzano Sweet Vermouth, orange bitters and orange twist. This has a nice garnish and tastes great! For my first food item, I'm getting a Caesar Salad made with romaine lettuce, garlic croutons and Parmesan cheese. The smell of cheese is quite strong! It's a good portion. This tastes good! Crunchy croutons and tasty lettuce. For my next food item, I'm having a Salmon lettuce cup. Nice presentation! It's on a bed of ice and a lemon to sprinkle. This is quite good! Next up, I'm having a Cup of Clam Chowder. I believe these are house-made croutons. This came out quick! It's nice and hot! Tastes great! Well, with a little hot sauce that is...I like the classic music here. For my next drink, I'm having an Old Fashioned made with Old Forester Bourbon, simple syrup and Angostura bitters. Damn! Nice presentation (the Amarena cherry on the wooden stick) and a great tasting drink! The bartenders are good here! Very attentive! For my next food item, I'm having the Steamed Mussels made with soppressata, capers, shellfish stock, spring herb butter and Pernod butter. I love the focaccia! It is heavily buttered. The mussels are real good! For my next food item, I'm having the Scallops A La Plancha made with mustard spatzle, pea puree, asparagus and mushroom cream. This is good. It's heavy due to the pasta. It's like an entree. To wash this all down, I'm getting a bottle of Pellegrino sparking water. I like this stuff! For my next food item, I'm having four (Buck a Shuck) Cherrystone clams and four Oysters of the Day (only $1.95 each). These are good! I love the cocktail and vinaigrette sauces (with the crushed pink peppercorns). Sprinkle that lemon! For my next drink, I'm having a Happy Hemmy made with rum, grapefruit juice, lime and vanilla extract. What a great drink! Very unique taste! This has kick! For my food item, I'm having the "Baltimore Style" Shrimp Cocktail made with Old Bay Seasoning and stone ground mustard. OMG! The shrimp are big These are great! I love that mustard! For my next good item, I'm having the Blackened Fish Taco made with pineapple salsa and aji verde. I love it! This is easy to eat. For my last appetizer, I'm having the Happy Burger made with lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese. I miss this badly! This is delicious! It's a well-seasoned burger let me tell you! For dessert, I'm having the Creme Brulee. This is the cutest Creme brulee ever! On a Happy Hour menu?! This is a first anywhere! My favorite dessert! This is great! For my final drink, I'm having the Gin Gimlet made with Greylock Gin, simple syrup and lime juice. This is good! It's light so it's easy to drink at the end of my meal. That's 11 food items I ate and 4 mixed drinks. What a fantastic meal here!

When I arrived I was told it would be a 45 minute wait. Basically my reservation was useless. The 2 greeters made no attempt to address this whatsoever and didn't care at all. We decided to wait at the bar 2. The bar was not crowded with a couple of bartenders. We placed our order. The bartender looked like she didn't know what she was doing and greeted us with about as little enthusiasm and happiness as possible. (Maybe she was having a bad day). She didn't seem to know how to mix two drinks; a manhattan and a Negroni. She couldn't answer our question about what gin she had at the bar and just told us to ' look' as she pointed behind her. Then it took about 10 minutes for three drinks to arrive; the poorly made Negroni, a Coors light in the bottle (she never asked if I wanted a glass), the wrong glass of white wine that she had to redo with the correct one, then after 5 more minutes the manhattan arrived, also made poorly. She didn't charge us for that drink due to the delay saying she had to wait to get the vermouth. That's an odd excuse from a bartender. I've been a paid bartender, I know what to expect and she was just horrible. I'm sorry but that's a plain fact. If she worked for me I would have fired her on the spot and took over myself. 3. By this time, about 7:50, we were seated at an outside table. The crowd was dying down but our waitress was less than attentive and certainly not prompt. We have dietary allergies that she promptly noted but did nothing about as she said she would check wth the kitchen about of couple of possible choices we had interest in, but never came back to give us the answer. Now being quite impatient, we ordered anyway based on the menu description. One appetizer could not be eaten because of the allergy. We asked for the wine list, that never arrived, and it was 10 minutes until she came back to the table, but we ordered without it. The waitress seemed like she could care less about how we were doing or how she was performing her job. After dinner, ironically, the manager stopped by to ask how everything was, but we quickly said things were OK only because it would have taken too much time to make note of everything that had gone wrong. By now it was after 9 and my reservation was at 7. We had to leave. Suffice it to say, we won't be back. A sad overall experience indeed. I don't expect this restaurant and or management will be around for long as I have no reason to believe we were the only party to endure this horrible dining experience.

My sister made a 6:30 reservation in advance, fully aware it would be busy, and it was. When we arrived, the wait for walk ins was already an hour. At check in, my sister went to the host stand because her phone was having trouble checking us in. The manager on duty at the time, Will, confirmed that he checked us in manually and assured us everything was set. About ten minutes later, my sister approached the host, Liv, because she continued receiving texts about checking in and seating. She simply wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue. Liv told her we were checked in, everything was fine, and to ignore the messages. Important detail: we were a party of five plus a baby. Fast forward nearly an hour later. My niece was understandably losing patience, so I went to the host stand to ask about our table. That's when LIV told me they had texted us, we "weren't ready," and they gave our table away. Let me be clear: they were calling parties by name the entire time. Our name was never called once. And LIV was the SAME PERSON who EXPLICITLY told us to IGNORE the messages. At this point, we were obviously upset. Will and others acted confused and tried to piece together what happened, as if what we were explaining didn't make sense. Eventually, we were told that a large party was about to leave and that table would be ours. Even then, we still waited another ten minutes. Shockingly, NO ONE apologized. The only explanation offered was "miscommunication." Once seated, our server was great, genuinely the only bright spot so far. Unfortunately, when the food arrived, everything was cold. At that point, it was almost expected. Another manager later came to our table, clearly in a higher position than Will. He listened to our side, apologized, offered to remake the food, and gave us a discount. When we paid, our server informed us that an additional discount had been applied. It wasn't until I was literally walking out the door, as the last one to leave, that Will finally said, "Sorry about everything. Have a good night." At that point, it felt far too late. If they're working, count me out.

First time at their Newington location. We were seated a booth - very nice - extra roomy. It's nice that you aren't on top of other people in this restaurant. Nowadays they just pack people in which takes away from the dining experience. Started by splitting a Caesar salad. Forgot to take a picture - probably because it was so good and we were lost in conversation. My boyfriend got the filet with twin lobster tails special. He enjoyed the filet and I had the lobster tails. The lobster tails were huge! The waitress mentioned they normally put some sort of a spice on them but I asked for it to be left off as lobster is delicious on its own (I just asked for butter on the side). Unfortunately, they put salt on the lobster tails which kind of ruined the flavor, however the lobster was nice and fresh, so I just dunked them in butter to mask the salty taste. Lobster is so flavorful and delicious by itself - it doesn't need anything other than lemon and maybe some butter. Chefs are always trying to do different things with lobster and they don't need to. Perhaps they put too much salt in the water they cooked it with. We also split the Au Gratin Potatoes. I must not have read that it had three cheeses in it. WOW was that a lot of cheese. A bit much. Very tasty but too much cheese. It was also quite small. We got the flourless chocolate cake for dessert and I have to say I normally love these, but this had an espresso flavor to it. Like lobster, chocolate is good as it is - no need to add different flavors to it. I hate tiramisu/espresso flavored desserts typically, so that flavor ruined this for me. I wish they mentioned it had an espresso flavor in it. I will ask in the future when ordering at restaurants. Service impeccable. Just a few things that kept this from a 5 star review. We did bring in our own bottle of wine so they will allow that, you just have to pay the $25 corkage fee. Nice evening. Will be back.

There's no Happy Hour here and the mixed drink menu has no prices. For my first drink, I'm trying the Mine Hill Manhattan made with Mine Hill bourbon, Mine Hill Amaro, cherry (garnish?) and Angostura bitters. This tastes great! Nice Amarena cherry garnish too. We are trying the Nacho Platter made with tortilla chips, melted cheese, pinto beans, tomatoes, black olives, scallions, sour cream and fresh salsa. This is a big plate! These are really good! I am having the Thai Lettuce Wraps with chicken). You can also have panko fried avocado. It is also made with carrots, charred chickpea quinoa salad (red bee honey from Weston, CT), sesame noodles, cucumbers, bibb lettuce and crushed peanuts. They use a house made Thai peanut Asian ginger and orange ginger sauces. This is real good! It's light and easy to eat. For my last drink, I'm having the Peach Mint Whiskey made with Ole Whiskey Peach Whiskey, ginger beer, fresh mint, lime juice, agave nectar and a lime garnish. The mug is nice and cold. This is light and delicious! What a great time here!

I'd be more understanding if the place was slammed, but there were plenty of open tables and a solid number of waitstaff walking around. Things started off with an excruciatingly long wait just to get our drink order taken--a beer and a cider, nothing fancy--and even longer for them to actually arrive. No exaggeration, it was over 30 minutes before we had drinks in front of us. The food itself was pretty good. I had the barbacoa tacos, she had a burger. The quality and flavor were about what you'd expect from a place with a huge menu--solid, satisfying, no real complaints there. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and pleasant, which made the painfully slow service even more confusing. It got to the point where I basically launched my credit card at them just to avoid another 20-minute wait to sign the check. I like this place and the food is decent, but I wouldn't come back if I had anywhere else to be--or couldn't devote an entire afternoon to lunch. If they checked in more often or offered another drink, it would've gone a long way. And pro tip: definitely don't come here for a first date. If you run out of small talk, you're going to be sweating it out.
