My fiancé made reservations here for our anniversary and I was super excited to go. I've heard great things for years about Ruth Chris and couldn't wait to try it. The restaurant is beautiful, very clean and the serving staff was excellent. Unfortunately the food was not so fantastic. They gave fresh bread and butter to start. Prob the best part of the meal! We ordered the stuffed mushrooms to start, they were good, nothing exciting. We both ordered the ribeyes; one with seasoned butter and one with grilled shrimp and decided to split two sides. The augratin potatoes and the creamed spinach. The sides were on the smaller side for the price and neither had much flavor. The ribeyes were dry, a bit chewy and not a lot of flavor. We ordered med rare, so they weren't over cooked. Just a very disappointing experience for a special occasion. We spent around $300 with tip and had no alcohol. Not worth it. read more

Excellent evening a few weeks back on a rainy Saturday night. Beautiful restaurant. Great service. Had been to the Fort Lauderdale location a few years ago. First time at their Newington location. We were seated a booth - very nice - extra roomy. It's nice that you aren't on top of other people in this restaurant. Nowadays they just pack people in which takes away from the dining experience. Started by splitting a Caesar salad. Forgot to take a picture - probably because it was so good and we were lost in conversation. My boyfriend got the filet with twin lobster tails special. He enjoyed the filet and I had the lobster tails. The lobster tails were huge! The waitress mentioned they normally put some sort of a spice on them but I asked for it to be left off as lobster is delicious on its own (I just asked for butter on the side). Unfortunately, they put salt on the lobster tails which kind of ruined the flavor, however the lobster was nice and fresh, so I just dunked them in butter to mask the salty taste. Lobster is so flavorful and delicious by itself - it doesn't need anything other than lemon and maybe some butter. Chefs are always trying to do different things with lobster and they don't need to. Perhaps they put too much salt in the water they cooked it with. We also split the Au Gratin Potatoes. I must not have read that it had three cheeses in it. WOW was that a lot of cheese. A bit much. Very tasty but too much cheese. It was also quite small. We got the flourless chocolate cake for dessert and I have to say I normally love these, but this had an espresso flavor to it. Like lobster, chocolate is good as it is - no need to add different flavors to it. I hate tiramisu/espresso flavored desserts typically, so that flavor ruined this for me. I wish they mentioned it had an espresso flavor in it. I will ask in the future when ordering at restaurants. Service impeccable. Just a few things that kept this from a 5 star review. We did bring in our own bottle of wine so they will allow that, you just have to pay the $25 corkage fee. Nice evening. Will be back. read more

Suck my mother here for her 90th birthday and it is the only Ruth Chris in Connecticut so we were not expecting a whole lot but we were very very surprised and the service was good. The food was good. They actually cared about you are enjoying your meal which was wet Ruth had originally intended this restaurant to be, and so I was not disappointed. I visited Ruth Chris's for the first time with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. I have driven past this restaurant thousands of time and now I understand why the parking lot is always so full. We had a good dinner experience! Our waitress, Eileen, was super welcoming and did a great job explaining the menu and specials. Also big shout out to the busboy Anthony who also made us feel welcomed and was very friendly. For appetizers. We got the sizzling crab cakes that were super flavorful and delicious. We also got the French onion soup which I loved the cheese melted on top, the broth was tasty but I did not like the soaked bread in the soup - it had a weird texture. It was taking a long time for our entrees to come out. After about 45 minutes after we placed our order, our waitress informed us that she misplaced our order and asked us to give it to her again. She was extremely apologetic and said she would comp our drinks and dessert. We really appreciated how apologetic she was and it didn't impact our night at all. Once our entrees did come out, they were tasty. I LOVED the bone in NY strip steak. Super juicy and delicious, I literally was eating the steak off the bone. The truffle mac and cheese with lobster was more watery than expected but the flavor was great, especially if you like truffle. For dessert, we had one of the specials - the apple pie a la mode. The bread was nice and warm alongside with whipped butter. The bread is addictive. For entrees we went with truffle Mac and cheese add the lobsta lol! We also ordered the stuffed chicken. I'm back to one of the best steakhouses (#2?) In Connecticut. By the way, the door on the left leads to the bar area, but all roads lead to Rome. The bar is newly renovated. Ironically, I'm sitting at the same table the last time I was here almost a year ago. It's nice and cool considering it's 90+ outside. The Happy Hour menu is basically a huge selection of their regular menu simply discounted. This is the biggest (and best) menu I've EVER seen for a Happy Hour. Right off the bat, I'm served a glass of complementary water and with a couple minutes the server drops off some bread . Notice it is served covered up and it's a pretty big roll cut into trouble pieces. There is whipped butter too. This is good ! For my first drink , I'm having a Woodford Manhattan made with RCSH Woodford Blend, Antica (misspelled on the menu "antoca" - yes, I told them) formula sweet vermouth, hint of orange and an amarena cherry . Wow ! What a fantastic drink! Note the single, large ice cube. The amarena Cherry is speared using a toothpick. A stirring stick is also included. It is strong , but is probably the best Manhattan I've ever had! For my first food item, I'm having a Caesar Salad made with romaine hearts lettuce , parmesan and Romano cheese and creamy Caesar dressing. This is the main menu version (which excludes shrimp ). This is delicious ! I get the distinct feeling I am ordering the same items the last time I was here! I'm just too lazy to look. For my next food item, I'm having the Lamb Lollipop Chops. Where else can you find this? These are 3 chips served with a mango chutney marmalade. Lamb lollipops are simply individual chops cut from a rack of lamb. They are called lamb lollipops because you can hold them in your hand and eat the meat right off the bone with no utensils needed. OMG ! These are delicious ! No wonder I ordered them last time! The marmalade is good too. For my next drink , I'm having a Ruth's Saxarac. This is made with Knob Creek Rye, spicy brown simple syrup, Peychaud bitters and mist of Pernod. Yummy ! I love the taste of liquorish! Nice lemon twist garnish. This is the official drink of New Orleans I believe. Knob Creek is an American brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced by Beam Suntory (a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings of Osaka, Japan ) at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. It is one of the four Jim Beam small batch bourbon brands targeted for the high-end liquor market. Its siblings in the line are Booker's, Baker's, and Basil Hayden's. For my next food item, I'm having the Fried Oysters . I believe this is a first for me. I don't usually eat fried oysters . These are lightly breaded, fried oysters "accented" with their signature remoulade and a spicy Thai chili pepper sauce. I've asked for extra spicy . Let's see what happens! Well, not so much. These are very good ! The remoulade and Thai spicy chili pepper sauce (shrimp cocktail sauce?) are both delicious ! For my entrée, I'm having the 6oz Filet With 3 Shrimp made with tender corn -fed beef (cooked medium) topped with large shrimp and served with mashed potatoes . The shrimp are like glued together! OMG they are good ! I like the seasoning. It's got some kick! That's a generous portion of mashed potatoes and it is yummy! It is cooked perfectly! For my final drink , I'm having a Ruth's New York sour made with "Ruth's" Maker's Mark barrel-aged bourbon , house-made simple syrup (water and sugar), fresh lemon juice and St. Germaine, Rosa Regale served over crushed ice (on the rocks for me). This drink is good ! Replacing the crushed ice with regular ice reduces the dilution time of the drink dramatically! You won't be disappointed! As usual, I've been here longer than anyone. I'm still going strong ! Next!!! What's there to eat around here? I'm starving! For dessert , I'm having their creme brûlée. You just can't go wrong here. Crème brûlée or crème brulée (also known as burnt cream or Trinity cream, and virtually identical to the original crema catalana), is a dessert consisting of a rich custard base topped with a layer of hardened caramelized sugar. It is normally served slightly chilled; the heat from the caramelizing process tends to warm the top of the custard, while leaving the center cool. The custard base is traditionally flavored with vanilla in French cuisine, but can have other flavorings. It is sometimes garnished with fruit. Look at all that fruit! I've never seen so much! I member when I was younger I used to save up for months to take my wife to this steak house ,back in the nineties it was so much better. Are last and I mean last time there was so disappointing just a slew of back of the house mistakes that made our visit horrible! But the worst is I remember when they bought your steak out on the sizzling plate and you took a bite it was the best ever!! This was one of my favorite steakhouses of all times, I ordered creamed spinach in a large quantity for Christmas dinner. Two catering trays were $90. When it came time to reheat I opened the tray to see a watery mess. I drained it three times in the colander before reheating and it was still soupy. It was tasteless which was even worse. After the wait, a plate of sizzling steak arrives and average looking sides. The presentation is plain. They serve food on a plate. The taste of the food however is OUTSTANDING and unexpected. The steak was perfectly cooked to our liking, very hot. The meat was juicy and tender. The sides though normal looking were very well prepared and very well seasoned. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our dinner very much. Up to the dessert, we ordered the chocolate lava cake. It was impressively good. This 5 star review is based only upon our recent curbside takeout order. I must drive by Ruth's Chris Steak House at least 8 times a week and I don't give it a thought. It's a very good steakhouse and it's a nationally respected name, but I like to grill at home. When I need to, I can get close enough for our purposes to a Ruth's Chris-type steak meal experience for a fraction of the cost. And at the cost we've paid for a Ruth's Chris steak dinner with apps, nice steaks, and a la carte sides, Ruth's Chris would have to knock every part of the meal and service out of the park to earn a 5 Star review. They've done it before, but there's little margin for error. But Ruth's isn't working against a hard grading curve tonight. The reason is, that I discovered very reasonable prices on their curbside takeout menu that allowed my wife and I to split a great $18 filet sandwich, $16 mushroom caps filled with crabmeat stuffing and an $11 chopped salad for a total pre-tax, pre-tip cost of $45. At that price point, Ruth's crushed this meal. The online ordering system was easy. I arrived early in the designated curbside take out area and called the number. My call was immediately answered and the order was delivered prior to the scheduled time. My contact with Ruth's employees was friendly. The Chopped Salad was great. The standout elements included fried onions, above average croutons, hearts of palm, blue cheese, bacon crumbles and a unique lemon basil dressing. It was better than and cost less than a similar salad I ordered from a fast casual place this week. The stuffed mushrooms were very good. The mushrooms were cooked through and juicy and the stuffing was very good too. The grilled lemon was a nice touch and oozed acidity when squeezed over the buttery crab stuffing. They had other good appetizers for similar prices. The $18 filet sandwich was an absolute revelation. Do you ever order a steak sandwich (rather than a thinly sliced cheesesteak type sandwich)? I used to. I don't anymore, because they're usually bad chewy, often have unexpected gristle or fat and they can be difficult to bite through. This sandwich had melt in your mouth lean filet - and a lot of it too. Plus, they'll cook it to your requested temperature (had to compromise on medium tonight since I was sharing it). It comes with bearnaise sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. The website also says that the sandwich is served with chips. I don't know why, but we were upgraded to high quality French fries. These fries were legit better than most French fries you'll order at most restaurants and they did not get at all soggy in the take home container. At this price point, Ruth's moves to our short list of top take out options in the area. Based upon this curbside experience, I enthusiastically give Ruth's 5 Stars. read more

I was honestly disappointed during my visit here. i have been to several Ruth's Chris and usually know what to expect when dining here. Our waiter was not great, he seemed very flustered our entire experience and he was not attentive at all. We tried ordering a bottle of wine and it took him at least 20 minutes to understand which year of the bottle we wanted, how to decant it, and serve it. He rarely came to the table to refill our waters, ask about another round, and take our orders. We were at this restaurant for 4 hours, with an hour of that being due to the slow and not great service. We started with appetizers, most of which weren't good. We got calamari, crab cakes, fried oysters (a special), lobster bisque, and a salad. The crab cakes specifically were over cooked, soaked in butter, and sitting on a scolding hot plate even though they were lukewarm. Our main course was better, but my steak was over cooked. I opted for a medium-well, and the filet was well-done. At that point, it took a while for the food to come so I just ate it. I was honestly just very disappointed for the quality of food, and service we got with the prices we paid. Would not recommend visiting this location if you're in the area. read more

I had the steak with mashed potatoes which were delicious and the spinach which I couldn't get enough of. Sorry for lack of photos it's was too delicious to photograph. We had a great time at RCSH a few weeks back. Being new to the neighborhood but a legacy fan of Ruth's Chris it was our mission to try just about every location we come across. We used to go to the locations in NJ (where we're originally from) many times over the years and not all locations are the same.. sooo walking into Newington was a welcomed experience. Sure it doesn't have NY views or upscale attire like other locations but it still evokes a classy experience. We intentionally went during happy hour because we read alot of good things and it certainly didn't disappoint. The happy hour menu was pretty extensive. Maybe not the cheapest but you are at a steakhouse. I was happy to see some of my legacy staples included on the menu. We sat in the bar area and the service was great. The food was comforting and nostalgic and I think we danced in our chairs a bit. Since I appreciate my cocktails they were good but not amazing. Phenomenal dining experience last night! We were there for our 4 year anniversary and it was better than I could've imagined!
