Ruth Chris is known for being one of the finer dining experiences. I don't think it's my favorite steakhouse, but it's good a little bit pricey for the quality of the meat. However, they do have an amazing happy hour with the best burgers I've ever had.

I visited Ruth Chris's for the first time with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. I have driven past this restaurant thousands of time and now I understand why the parking lot is always so full. We had a good dinner experience! Our waitress, Eileen, was super welcoming and did a great job explaining the menu and specials. Also big shout out to the busboy Anthony who also made us feel welcomed and was very friendly. For appetizers. We got the sizzling crab cakes that were super flavorful and delicious. We also got the French onion soup which I loved the cheese melted on top, the broth was tasty but I did not like the soaked bread in the soup - it had a weird texture. It was taking a long time for our entrees to come out. After about 45 minutes after we placed our order, our waitress informed us that she misplaced our order and asked us to give it to her again. She was extremely apologetic and said she would comp our drinks and dessert. We really appreciated how apologetic she was and it didn't impact our night at all. Once our entrees did come out, they were tasty. I LOVED the bone in NY strip steak. Super juicy and delicious, I literally was eating the steak off the bone. The truffle mac and cheese with lobster was more watery than expected but the flavor was great, especially if you like truffle. For dessert, we had one of the specials - the apple pie a la mode. It was SO GOOD. I literally couldn't stop eating it. Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience at Ruth Chris and would recommend.

My boyfriend and I came here after a coworker recommended it. Let me tell you, everything was AMAZING. Service, food, ambiance- top tier. We had two services, Kasey (and I'm sorry I forget the others name!) both INCREDIBLE. I had the best time here. We even got dessert on the house which is the way to my heart Will definitely be coming back. Thank you for making our first time here so special!

We were greeted promptly and sat at a booth next to loud talkers. On a Wednesday night in January, we could have had more space between parties. Bloody Mary was good, loved the garnishes. Shrimp cocktail was yummy and the sauce was super spicy like we like it. We asked to share the chop salad and they divided it for us which is nice. Steaks came out sizzling, which is interesting but I feel it was too hot. Sides were definitely too hot but when cooled were tasty. Overall we didn't feel it was worth the money.

Food was amazing and staff was friendly! The ambiance was just right. Came here for an anniversary dinner and they even put flowers on our table.

A very good experience . Easter Sunday dinner, well spent here . We sat in the bar area which was nice and chill. Started with the Caesar salad which was a perfect start . The bread was nice and warm alongside with whipped butter. The bread is addictive. For entrees we went with truffle Mac and cheese add the lobsta lol! We also ordered the stuffed chicken. Man oh man it was all so good ! Sizzling dishes are always yummy. Everything was really great in taste. We couldn't get dessert too stuffed. Our server John was absolutely great. Very polite and people friendly, shout out to him. I'm glad we stopped in !

I'm back to one of the best steakhouses (#2?) In Connecticut. By the way, the door on the left leads to the bar area, but all roads lead to Rome. The bar is newly renovated. Ironically, I'm sitting at the same table the last time I was here almost a year ago. It's nice and cool considering it's 90+ outside. The Happy Hour menu is basically a huge selection of their regular menu simply discounted. This is the biggest (and best) menu I've EVER seen for a Happy Hour. Right off the bat, I'm served a glass of complementary water and with a couple minutes the server drops off some bread . Notice it is served covered up and it's a pretty big roll cut into trouble pieces. There is whipped butter too. This is good ! For my first drink , I'm having a Woodford Manhattan made with RCSH Woodford Blend, Antica (misspelled on the menu "antoca" - yes, I told them) formula sweet vermouth, hint of orange and an amarena cherry . Wow ! What a fantastic drink! Note the single, large ice cube. The amarena Cherry is speared using a toothpick. A stirring stick is also included. It is strong , but is probably the best Manhattan I've ever had! For my first food item, I'm having a Caesar Salad made with romaine hearts lettuce , parmesan and Romano cheese and creamy Caesar dressing. This is the main menu version (which excludes shrimp ). This is delicious ! I get the distinct feeling I am ordering the same items the last time I was here! I'm just too lazy to look. For my next food item, I'm having the Lamb Lollipop Chops. Where else can you find this? These are 3 chips served with a mango chutney marmalade. Lamb lollipops are simply individual chops cut from a rack of lamb. They are called lamb lollipops because you can hold them in your hand and eat the meat right off the bone with no utensils needed. OMG ! These are delicious ! No wonder I ordered them last time! The marmalade is good too. For my next drink , I'm having a Ruth's Saxarac. This is made with Knob Creek Rye, spicy brown simple syrup, Peychaud bitters and mist of Pernod. Yummy ! I love the taste of liquorish! Nice lemon twist garnish. This is the official drink of New Orleans I believe. Knob Creek is an American brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced by Beam Suntory (a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings of Osaka, Japan ) at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. It is one of the four Jim Beam small batch bourbon brands targeted for the high-end liquor market. Its siblings in the line are Booker's, Baker's, and Basil Hayden's. For my next food item, I'm having the Fried Oysters . I believe this is a first for me. I don't usually eat fried oysters . These are lightly breaded, fried oysters "accented" with their signature remoulade and a spicy Thai chili pepper sauce. I've asked for extra spicy . Let's see what happens! Well, not so much. These are very good ! The remoulade and Thai spicy chili pepper sauce (shrimp cocktail sauce?) are both delicious ! For my entrée, I'm having the 6oz Filet With 3 Shrimp made with tender corn -fed beef (cooked medium) topped with large shrimp and served with mashed potatoes . The shrimp are like glued together! OMG they are good ! I like the seasoning. It's got some kick! That's a generous portion of mashed potatoes and it is yummy! It is cooked perfectly! For my final drink , I'm having a Ruth's New York sour made with "Ruth's" Maker's Mark barrel-aged bourbon , house-made simple syrup (water and sugar), fresh lemon juice and St. Germaine, Rosa Regale served over crushed ice (on the rocks for me). This drink is good ! Replacing the crushed ice with regular ice reduces the dilution time of the drink dramatically! You won't be disappointed! As usual, I've been here longer than anyone. I'm still going strong ! Next!!! What's there to eat around here? I'm starving! For dessert , I'm having their creme brûlée. You just can't go wrong here. Crème brûlée or crème brulée (also known as burnt cream or Trinity cream, and virtually identical to the original crema catalana), is a dessert consisting of a rich custard base topped with a layer of hardened caramelized sugar. It is normally served slightly chilled; the heat from the caramelizing process tends to warm the top of the custard, while leaving the center cool. The custard base is traditionally flavored with vanilla in French cuisine, but can have other flavorings. It is sometimes garnished with fruit. Look at all that fruit! I've never seen so much! Yes, it has vanilla bean on the bottom (which it should have here). OMG this is great ! I love this place! To finish it off, I'm having a cup of black coffee . Ahhhhhhhhh! Yep. It's official. I ate and drank more than anyone (or two!) that came in tonight! What's new?

Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.

My sister made a 6:30 reservation in advance, fully aware it would be busy, and it was. When we arrived, the wait for walk ins was already an hour. At check in, my sister went to the host stand because her phone was having trouble checking us in. The manager on duty at the time, Will, confirmed that he checked us in manually and assured us everything was set. About ten minutes later, my sister approached the host, Liv, because she continued receiving texts about checking in and seating. She simply wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue. Liv told her we were checked in, everything was fine, and to ignore the messages. Important detail: we were a party of five plus a baby. Fast forward nearly an hour later. My niece was understandably losing patience, so I went to the host stand to ask about our table. That's when LIV told me they had texted us, we "weren't ready," and they gave our table away. Let me be clear: they were calling parties by name the entire time. Our name was never called once. And LIV was the SAME PERSON who EXPLICITLY told us to IGNORE the messages. At this point, we were obviously upset. Will and others acted confused and tried to piece together what happened, as if what we were explaining didn't make sense. Eventually, we were told that a large party was about to leave and that table would be ours. Even then, we still waited another ten minutes. Shockingly, NO ONE apologized. The only explanation offered was "miscommunication." Once seated, our server was great, genuinely the only bright spot so far. Unfortunately, when the food arrived, everything was cold. At that point, it was almost expected. Another manager later came to our table, clearly in a higher position than Will. He listened to our side, apologized, offered to remake the food, and gave us a discount. When we paid, our server informed us that an additional discount had been applied. It wasn't until I was literally walking out the door, as the last one to leave, that Will finally said, "Sorry about everything. Have a good night." At that point, it felt far too late. If they're working, count me out.

Throughout our meal, several staff members checked in to make sure everything was good and asked if we needed anything. The attention and hospitality made us feel very welcome. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend Prime Burger. In fact, I've already been back and will continue to return.

Crispy on the outside, packed with well-seasoned chicken inside. Good spice, not overpowering. Came with a salsa and a ketchup-mayo style sauce, both worked, but the salsa had a little more life to it. Before that, warm ciabatta hit the table with a house-made dipping sauce. Oil-based with garlic, blue cheese, and a few other layers going on. The blue cheese gave it a subtle kick without taking over. Nice way to start. Now to the burger, the Luger Burger. I'm assuming it's a nod to the classic steakhouse, but didn't get full confirmation. The sauce is made in-house: slightly sweet, a little acidic (I picked up balsamic), smooth texture. It's a good sauce, it just needed a bigger voice on this burger. The burger itself is large. And I mean large. Menu said thick-cut bacon... that wasn't the case. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. Now I'm going to get a little critical, because this is where it matters. The burger needed more salt. There's a lot of beef here, and it can absolutely handle it. Even something as simple as salting the tomato would've helped bring things together. If the bacon had actually been thick-cut, that alone might've bridged the gap. This was a very beef-forward burger, to the point where the supporting flavors barely showed up. The patty felt a bit too tightly packed, which gave it a denser bite and let the beef dominate the whole experience. A looser grind or lighter hand forming it would've made it more tender and allowed everything else to come through. It also needed more acid. The Luger sauce was applied lightly, so either lean into it more or bring in something else, a pickle, a sharper onion, something to cut through the richness and balance it out. The bun was soft, nicely toasted, and held up well, which isn't easy with a burger this size. Fries were hand-cut, properly salted, and exactly what you want. No complaints there. Overall, this is a great spot. Clean, comfortable, nicely decorated. Staff was excellent. Food was good, with flashes of being really good. With a few small tweaks, mainly balance and execution on the burger, this could easily jump to the next level.
