This place is the perfect example of a small town keeping a restaurant in business because the location is great and they minimal choices, so they let the poor service and quality slide. The food was very good-- we had grilled salmon. I had sides of broccoli and okra and my husband had a salad and baked potato. Our server was attentive but not annoyingly so. We've eaten here a few times over the years when in the area and always enjoyed it. The place looks a little more worn every time we come, so some refinished tables and fresh paint would be a good thing. The downside this visit--and a significant one--was the faint sewer smell that occasionally drifted through the dining area. We noted a strong air freshener scent by the door when we arrived, but didn't think much of it. We were then seated toward the side windows and didn't notice the sewer smell until our meal came, but a party of four who came in after us and were seated toward the center must have had it much worse. We noticed them looking at their menus, then several visibly sniffed and looked around curiously. They talked briefly and then abruptly left. Just enough to keep the air cool and bugs away but not so much that your food cools too quickly. Had great entertainment below on the water with families boating Very quiet and relaxing on the patio as we discussed the days events and enjoyed our meal. Chicken fried steak w white gravy was delicious. Full of flavor and tender. Loaded baked potato was the epitome of loaded baked potatoes, and the okra was not bad either. The chicken strips were flavorful and tender. Nothing special about the fries. Our server was tentative to our requests and served with a smile. Overall great first experience! We stopped in for lunch on our road trip there was 8 of us , resteraunt not over crowded . We had Isiah for a waiter and what hard working young man . He was everything today , hostess , bar tender , waiter . He did all with a smile and very nice . Give him a raise or promotion !! Wonderful spot! We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful view of the river. Started with onion rings and a cup of baked potato soup. The beer and cocktails we had were very good, refreshing and cold. Had a steak salad, Lakeside salad, Reuben sandwich with fries and Buffalo chicken tacos with fries. All meals were delicious! Michelle was an excellent waitress! She was very sweet, kind and attentive, even through a mask you could sense her smile. This was our 2nd time visiting, and we will be back a 3rd. read more

I had the Chicken fried steak large Broccoli it was great. MIL had the same small BIL Chicken quesadilla. All hot fresh and fast. We shared the Cheese potato slices for an appitizer. Very good. MIL had a Miami vice it was excellent and the server Zack was very polite and attentive. To be honest I am jaded he is my son in law. He did great watching him work the bar area. The food was great despite the low reviews. Had the rib eye which was cooked medium in the center and medium well on the ends just how I ordered. The broccoli was cooked perfectly just needed salt but not complaining. Also ordered the pork chops which were cooked perfectly. Cole slaw is delicious but it is sweet. We have driven past here a few times, but never stopped until yesterday. Location wise, this is a great stopping point for a pre-Fredericksburg wine tasting afternoon. The ambiance at River City Grille is great. The waiting area is probably one of the nicest that I have seen. Comfortable chairs and sofas, flat screen Tv, lots of dark woods, decorated in a Texas theme. They really make it nice while you are waiting for your table. About 15 minuets later we were seated on the back deck. If you go be sure to sit outside as the view out over the lake is fantastic. The sun was setting and we had a nice breeze as well. Very comfortable. I ordered the hamburger and fries. Sadly I have to say my hamburger was disappointing. I was expecting a thick hand-formed juicy burger topped with a thick slice of sharp cheddar. What I received was a very thin frozen style of patty topped with what looked like a craft signal. This burger was no different than you would get at BK. The fries were run of the mill as well. I was really expecting more from this restaurant. My wife had the salad topped with grilled sirloin. I tried a piece of the steak and have to say it was very tender, cooked perfectly, well seasoned and had a very nice flavor. This is what I should have ordered. Service was lacking and our waitress was clueless. She spent most of the evening chatting and laughing with the customers at one of the other tables. My wife asked if she could change her drink order and was told it was too late. Really??? She just placed it a minute ago. Some quick math for you... Instead of us spending 7 dollars on a glass of wine we were going to spend 30 on a bottle. More money for the restaurant and more tip for you. But instead we got to listen to her talk about how she doesn't get enough hours and how it's the end of tourist season with the table next to us. I have been to this restaurant 4 or 5 times over the last 3 years. The food has always been mediocre but edible until my visit the other day that was with my wife. My sweet tea tasted like catfish and so did the green beans. I was very disappointed. My wife had a steak sandwich which she couldn't eat either. If your a fan of catfish then this is the place for you. I am not and don't want want my sweet tea to taste like it was brewed in the lake nor the food that I ordered. We both did not feel well after our meal, maybe it was just in our minds because the meal was such a disappointment or maybe it was because everything was cooked in the same grease as the catfish? read more

For the people who have had a bad time at this restaurant I'm really sorry but I love this restaurant! First off this restaurant has an amazing view and to top it off a great wait staff. The bar tenders are truly friendly and every time I have had a meal at River City Grille my experience has been wonderful from beginning to end. Being that this is one of the few restaurants that are open at night in marble falls if you have a large party or if you don't want to wait at all on a Saturday night a reservation is definitely needed. Otherwise I have seen people wait for over an hour to get a table on the weekends, especially when there is live music that night! My personal favorite meal is the pork chops ( they ave a delicious rub on them) and since I'm under 21 my favorite drink the the delicious hand squeezed lemonade that is served with sugar around the rim, As far as the rest of the menu Id recommend the BK salad or the Steak salad (which come in large portions) or the jumbo shrimp which I prefer prepared coconut although they have regular and fried I believe. I hope anyone who comes through marble falls that chooses to go to River City Grille enjoys there time! read more

I just sat down to eat. I'll let you know how it goes. So far the host told us he didnt have anything available outside for seating but sat us at a window that looked outside where we saw plenty of empty tables for two. We asked a waiter passing by if they were available so he checked and happily sat us outside where the view is very nice. Food review next. Still waiting for a waiter to take drink order 4min in. Ordered the Colorado Margarita because the young waiter recommended it over the Skinny. It was too tangy for me but was a very large drink. Needed a better taquila and a tad more of it. Gonna send it back and opt for a sweet tea. Sweet teas wasnt too sweet but the color was light so it lacked flavor. The chicken fried steak is fresh not frozen but it was chewy...the risk you take. Maybe it needed a little extra tenderizing. The gravy was good but the steak had too much batter for a medium sized chicken fried steak. I wish I ordered the Paul's chicken which was really good! It wasn't super juicy but it still had great flavor, was tender and the crust was original and great. Dripped in the awesome tasting green chile queso set this chicken over the top. The rice with the chicken lacked salt but was light and tasty. I don't cook with a lot of salt so my taste buds are sensitive to over salted food. The rice needed it. I sided the fried steak with a baked sweet potato which was really good. It just needed a dash of brown sugar to make it elite. The side salad was limp and not perfectly crisp but still good and the chipotle vinegerette was a nice, one of a kind, spicy dressing. Service from the young waiters were good and the food didnt take long. Four stars thanks to the Paul's Chicken! Enjoy! read more

We ordered our food and shortly the manager came by and told us dogs are not allowed and we had to leave. Will not stop by again after the manager being rude to us.
