I read a review that said the only thing going for this restaurant was its view of the lake. They were right. Perhaps we pissed off the staff. Having never been here before, I noticed the patio was open only after they seated us. We asked to be reseated on the patio. It took our new waitress forever to come out to check on us. The table next to us saw their server on several occasions and was even visited by the manager. Not us. Our server Loraine came to the table 4 times - once to take our order, once to bring our food, once to bring the check and again to bring a to-go box that was too small. She never brought requested napkins, more tea or the ranch dressing my son asked for. The steak I ordered was overcooked and thin for the $22 price. The kids liked their sandwiches and broccoli. I had high hopes stopping in for my birthday on an "adventure" down from Dallas with my kids. I believe the most accurate review I've seen for this restaurant on Yelp says it's hit or miss - good or crap. I'm a terrible gambler and lost my appetite and $60 on this place. We chose this place because we wanted a place where we could see the river and the reviews were pretty good for here. We had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra and let me just say it was wonderful. The steak was fork tender with a nice crispy crust, the potatoes were homemade and tasted like it and the okra tasted like it was freshly breaded. Our waiter, Jeremy, was very attentive and took excellent care of us. If we're in the area again we will definitely be back. read more

We've been there a couple of times since the original review, and both of the aforementioned issues have been taken care of. We were seated in a prompt and friendly manner, glasses were promptly refilled, etc. And as always, plenty of good, hot food - we never can finish it all! One thing that might help everybody is using bigger glasses for the iced tea. The little 8 oz. glasses they use, after being filled with ice, are good for 4 good swallows, then it's refill time. Remember, we're in the Highland Lakes country, the heat and sweat capital of the world! I can gulp down a quart of iced tea in nothing flat. At least with bigger glasses, the poor waitress wouldn't have to refill it 6 times. Again, though, overall this is a great place. read more

We drove into town from Kingsland during the Aqua Boom (4th of July) festival and stopped in to try this place out. The location has a lodge feel and backs out to a lovely lake view. We particularly liked the middle sitting area which featured a column of outward facing love seat type half booths, nice for couples but able to seat 4. My fiancée had the steak salad- she loved it. She's rarely impressed by the quality of "rare" steak but was quite pleased by the quality that arrived. I took a pricey risk and ordered the Hawaiian ribeye ($22). It paid off- the steak was a perfect medium on the inside and featured a nice sear on the outside, resulting in marblization that melted with the tangy teriyaki flavor. Good stuff! read more

Two of us went here on Friday 10/26/18. When you get out of the car you are slapped in the face by the overwhelming stench of the river out back. Interior is a bad 90's throwback, extremely loud too; due to high ceiling, no soundproofing, and lots of heavy drinkers at surrounding tables. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich & pulled pork sandwich, both came with fries. Chicken sandwich was ok, extremely thick chicken breast was at least cooked through. Pulled pork sandwich was inedible, tasted funky. We elected to not eat it for fear of getting sick. We asked to take it off the bill, waiter was very sweet but manager copped an attitude: "no one else has complained, I'm going to the kitchen to taste it myself right now!". I told her I wouldn't, it might make her sick! She took it off bill and even comped the one beer I had. Too bad, we would have been happy to pay for an edible and enjoyable meal. read more

We were hesitant to even try this restaurant based on many of the reviews posted, but since it was so close to our destination of the Christmas trail of lights at the Lakeside park, we figured what the heck lets take a chance. I think that many people are quick to give a bad review when they had a bad experience rather then write a good review when all went well. I know that it's possible to have a bad experience at any particular restaurant every once in awhile, but this may actually be the exception rather then the rule. Our experience the day we went was great. The food was good, the service was great, the restaurant was clean. I would recommend River City Grille in Marble Falls to anyone of my friends. The prices were very reasonable as well. I rarely review business, and I am sure had I had a bad experience, I may have come here and given a negative review. Since I have seen so many, I thought I should report that my family and myself had a very pleasant experience, and hopefully more people will be inclined to visit and come to their own conclusion. read more

We were able to dine out on the deck and caught a wonderful sunset. We had the smoked sirloin which was great. It is done perfect medium rare and had a great smoked flavor. I don't know how many times I've driven right past River City Grille (RCG) on my way camping or to spend a day at the slabs. First off, why is there an 'E' on the end of Grill'E'??? By definition Grille: "a grating forming a barrier or screen; especially : an ornamental one at the front end of an automobile" Ok...grammar lesson and nitpicking over! Regardless of how they decided to spell it...R, C, and G spells awesome! This last day trip to the slabs with visiting nephews and senior parents in tow, I decided to make a lunchtime pit stop here. Pro tip...sit on the deck. Seriously, you'll thank me when you see why. The decks are over the water with one of the greatest views you will ever experience. The view of the Colorado paired with the prefect breeze made for a relaxing and serene setting. Our server was friendly...not the overbearing fake type, but relaxed and casual type. She's someone I could see myself sitting around drinking a beer with. The food was pretty solid... Reuben sandwich. The pastrami, while a little salty, was full of flavor and was perfectly balanced by the sauerkraut, cheese, and dressing. The sauerkraut was crisp and actually sour! Yay for real sauerkraut! The meat was a little on the scant side, but I realize this isn't meant to be a deli sized sandwich. Not the best I've had, but a good selection. Calamari. Perfectly fried and mildly seasoned. Nothing extraordinary, but a good starter. Green Chile Pork Tacos. Hot damn! Three generously STUFFED tacos, full of tender pulled pork. Mild, yet flavorful, these were the showstopper for me. There was a great balance of smokiness, creaminess, and freshness in every bite. Green Chile Cheese Fries. My nephew ordered these. He wasn't pleased. What the hell does he know! I thought they were great...more like home fries, they were smothered in green chile, queso, and bacon...mmmmm, bacon... Great chicken fried steak. (my husband had this. Smart man!) AWESOME bread pudding. I had the BK salad because I was getting a little carbed out during our weekend mini-vacation. Horribly disappointed. Cold rock hard 'grilled chicken' (clearly cooked hours before and stored in a cooler.) on a soggy wilted plate of iceberg lettuce. Threw most of it out. SO MUCH blue cheese (and I LOVE blue cheese!) I was gagging. It was terrible. Sorry. TERRIBLE. Thankfully the Chicken fried steak was huge - and very good - so we shared that. It's a nice place. Hubby and I went for dinner on a Sunday night and everything about our experience with River City Grille was fantastic!!! We were seated immediately...always ask for a table with a view, they'll do their best to accommodate your request. And what a terrific view! Started off with drinks, I ordered the jalapeño margarita (they're shaken, not stirred) and it was fabulous!!! My new favorite margarita ever!! It had enough sweet and spice to make it absolutely perfect!!! Hubby had a strawberry margarita with dos XX and it was good, but he wishes he got the jalapeño margarita. Yummmm. Appetizer was queso and salsa, it was tasty. Entrees: he got chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and okra, can't go wrong there...delicious! I got catfish dinner with green chile corn and squash zucchini medley. Everything cooked perfectly and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Steer clear of this place if possible. I ordered the chicken fried steak and I swear it was a chicken fried flip flop found in the lake. It was the toughest, odd tasting chicken fried steak I have ever eaten. I only ate a 4th of the steak and I use "steak" very lightly. The green beans were taste less, and the fried okra was the high light of the meal. Let's move on to the other meal that was ordered, fried catfish and shrimp. The catfish was undercooked and the shrimp was over cooked!!! Needless to say the bake potato, was the high light of this meal. I will say the location has a great view, but that is it... We are from out of town and we thought we would try something local to Marble Falls, somewhere we had never been. ('We' being my husband, myself and our 2 year old.) To sum it all up.. We will NEVER be back and will not suggest this restaurant to anyone when asked where to go when traveling to Marble Falls. In fact, I will steer people away and suggest they go to the Chili's right next door. Although the food is decent, the service is HORRIBLE! From the hostess to the managers.. Honestly one of the worst experiences we have ever had. We chose to sit inside because it was a little windy and somewhat cool outside. Our server was an older gentleman, who apparently did NOT want us sitting in his section. Other than, 'can I take your order' (like we were at a fast food restaurant) and 'just pay when you're ready' ..he did not say a word to us. At first, I thought he was just having a bad day. (Here he is, in his 50's, having to work as a server on a Saturday during lunch). BUT then, I hear him talking and cutting up with his other tables.. Suggesting what to eat or asking if this was their first time eating there, etc. As we got our bill, I noticed we were charged for the milk I ordered for our son. When he saw that I was questioning it to my husband, he came over and rudely asked if there was a problem with the bill. I smiled and said, 'No, no.. No problem. I just didn't realize there would be a charge for the milk because on the kids menu, it only specified lemonade as not being included as a drink. Not a problem though, we don't mind paying for it.' He responded as if I had just asked to comp the whole entire bill.. When in fact, I was saying the charge was fine! As we were leaving, we had to pass two managers to get to the exit. They never said 'thank you' or 'glad you came in' ..nothing. Not even a little smile! The hostess just let us walk out without even bothering to look up from their own conversation and thank us for stopping by to eat at their restaurant. Like I said before.. Wanted to love this place but wasn't able to have a meal there. Was placed on the waitlist. Told the hostess we would be at the bar. After a long time at the bar went to check on our status. Was told they called for us on the PA but we never responded. We simply didn't hear them. Okay - that can happen - no problem - told her we would be happy to just take the next available table. Was told we would be put back at the bottom of the list. Sorry - not acceptable. We left hungry and found another place to eat. I am only writing this as a caution to others. There really is no PA - not sure how they call names. They don't come look for you at the bar so pay close attention and stay close to the hostess if you would like to be seated and eat. We did enjoy our drinks and appetizer at the bar. Bar service was awesome but we really wanted to sit and have a nice meal. Will likely try again but will have to stay close to the hostess and skip the bar unless management has changed the way they deal with customers on the wait-list. The wife and I come here fairly often and we really enjoy eating at the River City Grille. In my humble opinion they have the best cheese burger in Marble Falls. The wife absolutely loves the pork chops. Honestly we've never gotten a bad meal. The service has always been very good, servers who are good at their job and are personable as well is getting harder and harder to find these days. Prices are in line with area and for what they offer. Not bad at all! Not to mention the view from the patio. Most excellent place to eat. read more

On a day trip with Mom, we stopped at River City Grille on the advise of her cousin. We were seated at a window seat overlooking Lake Marble Falls and the construtcion of the new bridge. We ordered hamburgers, salads, and green chili. I had the Lone Star chopped salad and it was delicious with a spicy ancho dressing. What makes River City Grill a 4 star experience is the service; our waiter catered to my Mom with dementia with perfection. He did not even bat an eye when it took her forever to tell him how she wanted her burger and "oh yes, when she was a little girl she had her first burger at 2-Jays in Austin" and "have you ever had that Angus meat ". I appreciate that so much as I have had waiters walk away and say they will be back when she decides. And both of the guys in our group want to give an extra star for the view as they got to watch a huge caterpiller back hoe get transported across the lake on a barge. Everyone was really friendly. We had drinks in less than 2 minutes. I asked for the kid's meal to be brought immediately. We had it in less than 5 minutes. Kiddo had veggie plate - the green beans were fantastic. The hubby got something like Pete's Chicken with Green Chiles (can't remember the name); anyway, he loved it. The rice with green chilies was fantastic because I tried it. I had the Roast Beef Dip. Fantastic. The fries were pretty tasty, too. My hubby had the carrot cake for dessert. I love it when you don't plan to go to any particular restaurant and the one you happen to pick is GREAT! The family and I took a day trip to Marble Falls for pumpkin picking at Sweet Berry Farm. After the farm, we were famished! We tried going to one of the chain restaurants and the wait was 1 hr -- not gonna fly! So we saw River City Grille - it looked promising but busy. At this point the kids were screeching in my ears: "I'm STARVING!". We waited for 20 minutes and were seated on the deck facing the lake. The view of the lake definitely helped calm this mama's nerves. The food came out hot and pronto! The burgers were gone in a minute and the kids enjoyed their Mac'n'Cheese.
