Can't speak to the hair services, but I had a Brazilian wax from hell at this place. The owner really should not be offering waxing services at this salon, it was so unhygienic and unprofessional. I am in the area temporarily and this location was convenient for me, so I decided I would try it out. A couple of red flags from the get-go was the room was not clean to the standards one would expect (towels seemed unwashed, sheet on the mat was dingy), and the owner was really flustered, since she seems to be doing everything herself--she stopped two or three times during my waxing session to attend to the front door (and didn't wash her hands upon return). I was horrified to see that she was dipping the wooden stick into the hot wax over and over again--at least 10 times. She would dip it in the wax, apply it to my body, and then re-dip that same area of the stick back into the wax, apply to my body, etc. It was disgusting and un-hygienic, and I tried not to imagine how many people had been here before me getting that very same wax applied to their bodies. I then panicked when I realized she was not actually going to use waxing strips. She literally spread the wax all over my area in one giant glob, and I internally started crying when I realized she was waiting for it all to harden before she started waxing. I braced myself for it, but nothing could have prepared me for the kind of pain that came next. I was literally sweating as she tore the hair from my body in giant, excruciatingly painful globs. I never screamed like that in a waxing salon before. She was clearly upset for me and I could see she felt bad, but the whole thing was just unacceptable. After the hair had been torn out, she began scratching the remaining wax off of me and plucking the remaining hairs out with a tweezer (there shouldn't have been so many remaining hairs if she had done it properly). It was taking so long that I had to tell her to just leave it so I could go home, shower, and do it myself. She then spread aloe vera all over me from a bottle that looked unclean--I asked for a tissue paper to wipe it off because it was a gloopy mess and I didn't want it in contact with my clothes. And after all that, I still had to come home and epilate the area because the job was not completely done. I gave an extra star because the lady was quite nice. But, as I said, the whole thing was unacceptable and she should not be offering Brazilian waxing as a service. read more

A friend recommended me to get my hair done by Jae, my new stylist! I am SO happy with my new look and even happier that I found this place. Initially, I felt skeptical getting my hair done at a small salon with only a few reviews. I definitely underestimated her talent! Not only did she deliver more than expected but also took the time for a consultation beforehand; she gave me helpful tips (very politely) on particular hair styles/cuts/color that she'd recommend since I wasn't sure what hair style would suit me best. She was very accommodating, as well as the whole staff. She cared a lot and even gave me recipes on home remedies to improve the healthiness of my hair. I had awful experience with River Place Salon & Spa yesterday afternoon. You should be careful of the lady who wears glasses. In my humble opinion, she is not qualified to serve anyone. Here is why. She asked me what kinds of haircut I would like to have. But she completely failed to deliver what I requested. She just did whatever she would or could. Even worse, I noticed that she was rushing to finish my haircut right after another customer who walked in. And She did not even ask if I was okay with the haircut simply because she would like to have one more business as soon as she could. What a joke! This place has a reasonable price for a haircut. But allowing an unprofessional stylist to serve its customers is a red flag. I will never come back. If you have still have any hope, be sure to avoid the lady wearing glasses. As a girl with a pixie cut, this place is super easy to go to and I'm always happy with my haircut. The stylist is a kind lady that seems to do it all on her own and is very handy with a razor. Have to say, it's a no-frills type of place where she works diligently. I can only speak to her work with super short hair, but she does great work in that regard. The place is cash preferred, but you can pay with a card. I would say if you want a clean haircut this is a great place to go! read more

This is my first time to go there for RETOUCH and BLOWOUT for $60 before the day that they did examed my hair to make sure clearly it up. Two Korean ladies did my RETOUCH and BLOWOUT same time less than 2 hours. The place is style cleaned included restroom, fantastic but they're friendly ladies. Guess what, I will NOT come back there second time. I found out that they're damaged my hair by an iron flat with very very hot. I was very upset and hurt that I didn't know what it was. I'm very disappointing in them, oh well. I guess that those are good with men NOT women. read more

Got an excellent men's haircut, including warm shaving cream with a straight razor on my sideburns. At the end, they use a warm towel and give a mini neck massage that feels amazing. And the best part...they did it all for $15! If you live in Rosslyn, I highly recommend it. read more

So glad to see this beautifully remodeled space serving the modern needs of River Place residents! I needed a deep tissue massage to relieve acute neck pain and overall back and shoulder tightness. I usually take metro a couple stops to get a massage, but this spa was conveniently right on the premises of my apartment complex and had been displaying a grand opening (20% off through March) sign and balloons in recent weeks, so I decided to check it out. I was pleased to learn that the masseuse had 15 years of experience with a variety of massage practices, and had worked at a doctor's office, a gym, and other spas over the years. Her experience showed in her understanding of what needed to be done to relieve my pain in connected areas. She used some variation of Icy-Hot therapy - massaging a cooling creme on my back while using a steamer to allow the creme to seep into my skin easier. She also had a little bit of lavender on hand for relaxation. I will definitely be going back there whenever I need a tune-up, until I succeed in adapting a wholly ergonomic work and life routine resulting in a pain-free life. I also noted that there were two gentlemen getting their hair cut, and two other people came in requesting a pedicure, which, if I recall correctly, they offer Tuesday-Saturday.
