We just bought a 2022 Honda Civic hatchback EX-L from Riverside Honda on Saturday 10/1/22. During the purchase process we were told that the add-ons were already installed and that none of them could be removed. We questioned this logic multiple times and the sales manager finally said he was able to decrease the price by $700. When signing the documents, I noticed he crossed off a R-Plate add-on for $995; something we were told couldn't be done. So to reduce the price by $700 he removed a $995 add-on? Doesn't make sense and after pointing it out and complaining, I finally got the other $295 removed. Point being, they will straight up lie to your face; I wouldn't do business with them again. read more

I went to the Honda dealership because my transmission was going out in my Civic Hybrid and I wanted to know how much I could get on a trade-in. I knew that I should not have walked into that dealership alone. Before I knew it a sales person, Barry Haluch, had me sitting down in front of him showing me other used cars I could purchase. I was hooked. Barry Haluch showed me on his computer a newer Honda they had in stock. In the computer, it had a price on it. When they pulled the car around, it was a different color than the one they showed me in the computer. I asked Barry Haluch if it was the same price. He said, "Yes." It was the same year and model. Then he and the manager started talking in front of me. They mentioned a different price. I asked the Mr. Haluch about the price he quoted me. He told me not to worry. Long story short, I was there for six hours. They had me sitting in a room by myself for three hours. No one came and talked to me. Finally a woman walked in and started printing out the sales contract. I was tired and hungry. I had not eaten all day and was confused. I just wanted to go home. Nothing about the contract made sense. I went ahead and signed it and drove home. All the way home I knew I had been royally screwed. I got hooked in because I knew my transmission could go out at any time and I needed a car. When I got home, I called a trusted friend who referred me to his friend of many years who has worked in the auto industry for decades. He went over the paperwork with me. He asked me if there was a Buyer's Guide on the car when they brought it out. I said there was nothing on the car anywhere that had the price or anything. We went through my paperwork, there was no Buyer's Guide provided for me. I was told that it is against the law to show or sell any car without the Buyer's Guide posted visibly on the car. Everyone at Honda from Manager to sales people to the girl who presented the contract to me flat out didn't give a crap about that. Neither the salesman nor the manager ever returned to me in all that time. They also told me that I had to pay for a non-optional LoJack tracker and an alarm system which came to a total of $1974.88 after taxes. I told them several times that I did not want either of those items on the car. I was told by the manager and the sales person very adamantly that it was Honda Corporation's policy that I had to accept and pay for both systems if I wanted to do business with them. On the contract it says both of those items are OPTIONAL. So they flat out lied to me repeatedly. In fact, badgered me when I said that I did not want to pay for them. The next morning, I took the car back and told them that they broke the law, and that the contract was null and void. I let them know that I knew that the car they sold me had obviously just been traded in - old tires and no proof of being smog checked (they planned on replacing tires after three days because they claimed they had to order the new tires, and which is conveniently after my legal ability to change my mind. In addition, I could cancel the contract but with a $500 restock fee). They let me out of the contract and took the car back and gave me back my hybrid. I went to Toyota and got great service, was treated with absolute respect and bought a brand new car from them. I also got a very good deal in the fleet department instead of dealing with a salesperson. I will never do business with Honda in Riverside ever again. What a bunch of crooks. I would go to a completely different Honda dealer if I ever had to be in a position to do business with them again, but I never will. Beware. I would give them zero stars if that were possible. They don't even deserve one star. ** after I posted this review, I received a correspondence from the Honda dealership. It told me that they had turned me down for funding the purchase of a car for an insufficient credit score. First of all, I was funding it through my credit union. They ran an unnecessary credit check for me when I was there. My credit union had already checked my credit and approved funding. I wasn't even going to fund it at the dealership. After they ran the check, they acknowledged that I had a score well above above 800. What a circus! read more

The Honda Service Department here is horrible. I had two bad experiences. First, I bought out my lease for my honda. I was told by sales that I'll get free car detailing and it may take a few hours. I scheduled an appointment on the weekend. I took my car in and the rep at the service department told me they don't do detailing. I explained to him about what sales department had told me and he stated that "sales don't know what they are talking about". This mean this had happened numerous times before. I demanded to speak to the manager. I spoke to the sales manager and explained my situation. He went over to talk to service department. Meanwhile, the other sales manager stated that the service department is always passing the buck. He stated that these types of issues have happened with service department before. Today, I bring in my car for an emergency. My car keeps shutting off. I explained to Supervisor Paul Hamilton about my situation. He said they can't even look at today and they'll have to keep the car till next week. I don't have an appointment. These people won't even prioritize for an emergency. I asked for a rental, and he said he can't provide me with a rental. I spent $3000 for honda warranty and these people won't even offer me a rental. This is a safety hazard and an emergency and this guy doesn't even care about his customers. read more

This place is a joke seriously!..they have alll these awards from years ago posted up on their service Drive wall supposedly awards given to Honda when I spoke to a Honda representative from American Honda in Torrance I was told they don't give out those awards. Those are franchise dealerships they're privately owned. This place has horrible customer service in the service department, your technicians spill oil in the engine compartment when I do an oil change and don't clean up after the mess they make on your car you leave the dealership and on the road you start to smell burnt oil. And oil drain plug was loose. SRS light is on for air bag took it in and they charge me close to $300 to check and reset the SRS light. they had informed me that the wires underneath my driver seat were short and that I must've been hitting the l when I vacuum the car which is bullshit, And they never gave me a code of what the issue is. That was in June 2023. Light came back on 1 week later. At that time they had informed me it was gonna cost me around $2900 to have the car rewired. After the light came back on again after I got out of a Riverside Honda, which is around July 14 of 2023. I park the car in my garage and I have not moved it since last week which was Monday, September 25 and I got my car back this past Monday.This place is a joke they soak you for money and do Mickey Mouse work. Took my car to Riverside Complete Auto Repair the technician that used to work at Spreen Honda. He opened up his own auto repair shop. Called Riverside Complete Auto Repair behind the Riverside airport. I took my car to him on September 25th 2023 and he had it for a week he found out that the short was coming from the clock spring behind the igniter in the drivers steering wheel. The SRS light was on, and he gave me a code of 11.5, which is the clock spring in the steering wheel behind the airbag igniter. Riverside Honda never told me and or anything about a code number at allllll. All they said meaning the service advisor at Riverside Honda Debbie had informed me that it was a short underneath the wires in the driver seat and that's what they stated on the statement copy that they gave me from Riverside Honda. Any person on here that's giving any high compliments of this dealership is a lie. A friend of mine, bought a brand new car from them, and they soaked them for more of a down payment, and he had to come up with a balloon payment of $4300 a month later thanks to the finance department. I would give this dealership a zero star they don't even deserve one. Here is a picture of my copy of my receipt of the service I had done at Riverside Complete Auto Repair that shows the code. It explains what the issue is with the SRS airbag light from the driver side, airbag clock spring wire behind the igniter in the steering wheel. I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau,and to state of California state board bureau of automotive motive repair. and when I got it out from Riverside Complete Auto Repair, my mechanic there reset it the code and he said there was no short coming on yet and the light was reset to shut off the light he said, however, it'll come back on again when you drive the car, because the problem is the clock spring behind the igniter called American Honda and Torrance. They will not assist even though this driver side airbag had two recalls due to the Takata airbag recall Honda will not make good on this and neither will Riverside Honda.I also wanted to mention when you complain to the service advisor and or service manager. About the Mickey Mouse work and service mechanics not tightening the oil drain plug and the oil they spilling on your engine compartment. When you inform the management and then they get pissed off at you and tell you not to bring your car back to service to them please there's a one squad fault with a Mickey Mouse work in the shady employees there. Please don't take a shit on me and then wipe off your ass on me and walk away when this is your fault not mine.!o read more

I never had any problem on my Pilot until lately when it shows signs of aging. Paul was quick to give me his advice and did all he can to accommodate me on my budget. No pressure and just clear cut advice. I came in because My alternator is not working , need a new battery, my timing belt is due for replacement, spark plugs have not been replaced and other needed repair for a 16 year old Pilot. Well, unfortunately there is no 0 star option. I am in the marketing industry and i know how much reviews effect businesses. So i tend to never leave negative reviews. HOWEVER this was the WORST experience I've ever had purchasing a car. This story is actually pretty comical ... grab some popcorn. Let me make an extremely long story short and say that i purchased a BRAND NEW car, the day i took it home it was not cleaned or detailed due to the hour of the day. Keep in mind it was one of the cars they kept in the dirt lot. So i was told to take it back the following day to get detailed waxed etc. Ya kno...make it look new like it should. So i dropped it off and when i picked it up three days later (that's how long it took them ) the car was still dirty lol. Had like wax residue and some white chemical solution dripping down the side. So I shrugged it off and was like ok whatever this is a dealership not a legit car wash, whatever I'm over it. They insisted they would keep it longer to do it again. So i allowed them too. When i picked it up AGAIN another 3 days later lol the car looked like it had a basic wash lol. At this point all i could do is laugh. I've never been that person to fuss about the small stuff or call "the manager " So i get home. And notice MY ENTIRE CAR HAS DEEP SCRATCHES ALLLL OVER. it looked like they waxed it with a Brillo pad. I immediately took pictures called and they told me to rush to take it back. They said it could be "buffed" off. So i returned it once again and was careless for 1 week. Phew, this story sounds too good to be true right lol? Soo Guess what i picked up my car AGAIN and the scratches ..still there. But wait there's more ......MY HEADLIGHT ...completely scratched like someone crashed it or bumped it on something. My side panel had PAINT OVER SPRAY ...(where did that come from idk) MY FRONT PANEL HAD PAINT CHIPS ... At this point i was like ok Ashton come out. I'm being pranked right ....then i was like okay did someone like take it for a joyride lol cus none of it made any sense and till this day it doesn't. I spoke to the GM Brian. Told him i hasn't even had the car a month. Hadn't even made the payment. And he urged me to let them "replace" and fix it all. So basically now i have a refurbished repainted "NEW" car. Lol. I asked to just trade it back in for a new one but "they didn't have my car at their location ....*not my problem * So he said they'd take it to their EXTRA SPECIAL AWESOME BODY SHOP this time and make it new..... So yet again i leave my car, no one calls me to tell me where it's at when I'll get it what's being done etc. At this point I'm like ok now i feel like i wanna be those pain clients and make a fuss after me being nice till this point. Finally get the car back. "New taillight " and the paint chips they literally filled in with like touch up marker LOL oh yeah and the scratches all over the paint. Yup still there. I threw in the towel and kept my mouth closed and took my refurbished scratched "new car" home. Now I'm stuck with for 5 years. I feel like these things are like freak accidents or rare but the way it was handled and never resolved. I'm sure it's happened before and will again. My review is solely to share my personal experience and to hopefully allow others to be more aware now I'm stuck with a purchase that i painfully regret. read more

I made an offer on a vehicle as allowed on the Auto trader website with NO response from Riverside Honda. The website states, "Bring the dealership to you" and allows to complete the sale online. I contacted Internet Manager Nalani Daprile at Riverside Honda regarding the vehicle. She informed me that the vehicle was being serviced for sale and was NOT ready and would inform me when ready. In addition, she stated that the sale couldn't be completed online despite what the Autotrader website says. I contacted her every day for a week stating that I will purchase the car when it is ready. On Tuesday 2-25-2025 at 4pm, Nalani again told me the vehicle was NOT ready!!! Today, 2-26-2025 at 10 am, I contacted Nalani and was informed that it was sold yesterday. How does that happen? I was told the car was NOT ready for sale. This is a very unprofessional way to do business. I waited on the Riverside Honda to complete their service since I can't buy a car when it's NOT ready!!! read more

We discussed numbers then OMAR comes in speaks to us tells us exactly how things looks n they were able to help us get into a vehicle within our budget. We are first time Honda purchasers after being Nissan customers for the last 12 years. We have herd so many good things about Honda's that we decided to go with Honda and are satisfied with our decision. Our precious experience at a different Honda location (Penske Honda in Ontario) made us feel like our time and money was not worthy. Customer service was the worse. This review is for Andrew Ruiz service advisor. He went above and beyond, was courteous, professional and thorough. Also, he's very cheerful and energetic which is good (bc everyone always seems to be in a bad mood when they bring their car in usually bc something is wrong). I brought our Odyssey to check out a delay upon acceleration. Andy explained that there would be a fee to have their guys test drive and examine our car for a $129.00 cost. We felt it was best to stay safe and just do it on case something was wrong. He called an Uber for me which arrived within 5 minutes. Fast. Efficient. It turns out nothing was wrong with our car, but that because I had it on the Eco gas mode it shifted differently. He explained very thoroughly all the tests they ran through a computer and test driving. At the end, he said everything was great and not to worry, they wouldn't charge us, even though they spent all that time checking out my concern. He had the car washed and ready to go and everything was complete in a timely manner (around a couple of hours). Wow. I was so blown away. Usually dealers have a bad rep for not taking care of their loyal customers, but honestly, I've had nothing but exceptional service from here. They also have an awesome coffee machine with many options to choose from, a soda machine and a nice assortment of donuts displayed in cake stands (not just left out in a donut box), all complementary. All of this makes for an otherwise stressful trip to the dealer a very pleasant one. Thank you! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER at RIVERSIDE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT. NO HELPFUL HONDA GUY HERE! Spent four days of my life in the last week trying to get a relatively simple, but important, repair done at Riverside Honda. I got nothing but excuses, rudeness and the run around. Not to mention I was quoted three different prices in the same day for the same exact repair from this dealership! I haven't been there in years and now I recall why (besides the fact that they will have you bend over and grab your ankles). I HAD to get this repair done but the mechanic that I trust and go to regularly was on vacation. So due to the urgency of needing to get this repair done, my mechanic on vacation, and other circumstances, I ended up at Riverside Honda. Luis the "Service Consultant" (AKA Service Writer) was the first red flag. I basically had to drag him out to my car (so lazy) so he could see for himself what I was trying to describe. He was in agreement that what I thought needed to be done actually did need to be done. Luis slid the paperwork across the desk to me and I looked at the area that says "Customer Complaint:" He was not specific as to what my complaint was, and I asked him if he would put in a couple more words (less than one sentence). He said the technicians will see it when they work on it. And I told him that I wanted that to be specifically pointed out to the technicians. He REFUSED to add those few words and told me "we don't have to make this into a big deal." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Who talks to a customer like that and still has a job? I escalated this to the assistant service manager (Scott), who I was led to believe was the service manager. Scott was extremely defensive, rude and argumentative. Scott kept bringing up ridiculous arguments that had nothing to do with my repair or the issue with Luis. I'll give you one example. He said because of Covid we're still dealing with supply chain shortages. Mind you, I know this is a rather lengthy post, so I'm trying to give a high-level explanation because all the details would make it impossible for me to post here. I then spoke with Sean, who is supposed to be the director over parts and service. I wasn't planning on having my car serviced there after what I had experienced, but I thought management should know how these two employees were treating a customer. Sean tried to say all the right things. Because of my need to have this urgent repair done, and my thought that Sean would take care of this based on what he was telling me, I decided to let them work on the car. Big mistake! Although Sean is supposed to be the boss over the parts and service departments, he was letting his service writers call the shots. Long story short, Sean wasn't able to deliver, but they lined their pockets with what they charged me (a good $200 more than my mechanic or even another Honda dealer I checked with by phone would charge (my mechanic, and the other dealer quoted me a price within about $10 of each other). Not once did Sean or anyone even apologize for the treatment I was getting. Four days of complete frustration and wasted time with these people.
