I think the exorbitant price of things has been normalized to the point that it reflects more poorly on me for complaining about it, then it does for the business charging these ridiculous prices. I just don't understand why it's standard practice to charge $11 for a GLASS of Mark West Pinot Noir, when a BOTTLE is $12. I can understand SOME of the entrees; I had the ahi tuna noodles at it was like $25. I figure after buying an ahi tuna steak, some soba noodles, sesame seeds, seasoning and sauces, and cook it, I've spent close enough to that cost to justify the extra expense. But how hard is to open a bottle of wine? I say all that to say, Riverwinds is overpriced. It's decent. The outside view was really nice, the wait staff was ok; (our waiter was pleasant, but didn't bring our bread [I had to ask for it, after seeing other tables get it], didn't tell us the specials, and didn't really check on us.) But it just wasn't a $90 lunch, which is what I paid. As mentioned, I got the Ahi Tuna noodles, and the wife got the "crabby delight," which is like a crab meat pasta dish. Those entrees, one glass of wine, and one chocolate martini came out to over $75. After tip, we spent almost $100 for lunch. The food was good, but it just wasn't a $100 lunch day. Parking is free, and there is a little trail and stuff that you can walk, if you're so inclined, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. The view is incredible especially in the evening hours!! Riverwinds offers one of the very best visual experiences of any restaurant on either side of the Delaware in the Philadelphia area. My dining partner noted that residents of Philadelphia should consider crossing a bridge and eating at Riverwinds where the parking is free AND SAFE, the road traffic non-existent, and the view of the Delaware River and Philadelphia at night amazing!! Dining out should always involve the visual and Riverwinds clearly provides the view but the interior is truly appealing as well. Someone gave a lot of thought when designing the restaurant's interior and lighting; a perfect romantic setting. And, the food presentation is so eye appealing that you almost don't want to ruin the image by eating but .... the food will make you want to come back over and over again! When you enter you are greeted with smiles and warmth!! Throughout your meal you are cared for as if you matter!! It just adds to the entire experience!! So, so good! If you already aren't planning a trip to West Deptford New Jersey then perhaps you need to know how good the food is! The menu has a variety of options that should offer something for everyone. WE chose the lobster-shrimp bisque (Ok, I chose that.). My entree was the Asian Ahi Tuna and my dining partner went for the $33.99 House Selection Grilled Angus Ribeye. We both chose the Caesar Salad. Starting with the bisque was the right choice because it was luxurious with the perfect hint of lobster (Not quite sure where the shrimp was but given the choice give me lobster!). Now you may have noticed a surprise rating below the fifth star that you might think would be shining due to this review well it starts with Mr. Caesar's salad. Perhaps the Riverwinds' kitchen thought the salad should be related to the famous comedian Sid Caesar rather than with Caesar Cardini because the dressing on top of this salad's romaine was unusually sweet. There was no Parmesan on the salad but Parmesan would have made the taste even more unusual. It was passable and we both ate the salad but Caesar it wasn't (No hints of anchovies, garlic, Dijon, pepper, Worcestershire or Parmesan)... we were disappointed. Another disappointment were the croutons that come from the pedestrian football shaped rolls served with dinner; bland and non-descript but we didn't come to dinner for the rolls. Now the Asian Ahi Tuna was truly perfection on a plate with more tuna than I would have expected prepared exactly medium rare. The soba noodle salad's soy/saki wine glaze was yummy and the snap peas added the needed "crunch" texture to the dish. The House Selection ribeye featured flavorful melt in your mouth steak over a smashed blend of red bliss potatoes with "snappy" asparagus. We were both smiling ... until ... the discovery moment of the meal. The kitchen somehow thought that a 1 inch by 1/2 inch piece of grizzle would be an attractive touch to a delicious steak. Perhaps someone thought it was "eye candy" to be added to one's selfie of the night because everyone enjoys seeing grizzle, right? Little bits of fat cannot compare to chunks of grizzle for meal satisfaction! So, we decided to just enjoy the meal and leave the grizzle for the chef's photo display. That grizzle combined with the salad eliminated any possible fifth star to this rating. Now, the House Selection came with dessert so we chose the strawberry ice cream and it was creamy smooth and served with a good strawberry sauce. The meal was filling so two desserts were not needed. We learned a long time ago to skip the bottle of wine when eating out due to inflated prices. So, this commentary is just an advisory ... RIVERWINDS, like all too many restaurants, triples or quadruples the price for their bottles of wine. When I arrived home I did a search on more than a half dozen of their bottles and found the same bottles at my local liquor store for prices well below what we might have paid but we are smarter than that. So, if you are looking for a romantic dinner out or if the world has worn you down and you just want to escape for dinner or lunch think the RIVERWINDS! If you want to escape the city ... think the RIVERWINDS!! Just ask that the grizzle remains in the kitchen and plan for your wine once you get home. read more

Only downside of the experience and it's not of the restaurants control is the overwhelming amount of spotted lantern flies outdoors which makes it impossible to enjoy dining outdoors near the river. The food: ordered the crab cake sandwich with steak fries and grilled chicken stir fry. (Lunch menu items) Crab patty was meaty and full of crab..little filling. The stir fry over jasmine rice was perfect. Nicely seasoned and not too salty. I found it very tasty and filling. Pricing was decent considering the type of environment. Well worth it imo. This is a restaurant that proves advertising is important. There were several times when I had intended to dine at this restaurant however so many other restaurants came to mind before this one. So one day on my way to an Atlantic City casino, I see the big sign as a reminder. This large billboard boasted a beautifully picturesque waterfront. I'm in! The grounds are beautiful the view is spectacular. Everything about this restaurant is large I mean things are really big. The entrance is large the foyer is large, the chandelier is large the piano is large, the host stand is large. You get the picture! LOL but everything is bright. pretty, extremely clean and open. And that picturesque waterfront scene? It can be viewed from almost each angle or room. NICE! I started with the mussels in a picante red sauce absolutely divine and more than one person could possibly eat. They were leftovers and shared later that day with a family member who also thought they were delicious. For my main course I had steak it was good however, I believe it was finished with a port wine sauce it wasn't wet but the next time I dined it was omitted. DELICIOUS! We opt as a party of four, for the whole turkey carved at the table experience. The turkey was tender and moist and came with five sides plus desserts. Our sides included, stuffing, mashed potato, mashed turnips, green beans, and cranberry sauce. For a starter we had the CheeseSteak Rolls and Buffalo Shrimp. The rolls were delicious and came with two sauces, I preferred the ketchup. The Buffalo Shrimp weren't really spicy and had a light sauce on them, I would have preferred a little more Buffalo. For my main entree I had the Lamb...so tender. The mashed potatoes were good not a fan of the broccoli rabe. Overall, I would go again and would definitely try other items on the menu. Service was average. I moved away from NJ years ago, and I always wished a nice restaurant would open up in the Paulsboro-W Deptford area. The River Winds area had so much potential, and they are definitely capitalizing on it. What a wonderful addition to this area. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner or just going out with friends. Others love the cheesesteak springrolls, but I found mine to be somewhat dry. The roll was did not have much flavor, or than a deep-fried taste. I liked their twist on bruschetta, with the mozzarella base. The soba noodles compliments the ahi tuna perfectly....one of my favorite dishes. The salmon was perfectly prepared. Thankfully, not overcooked. It was moist, flaky, and flavorful. My buddy loved the shrimp tacos, but they're just not my thing. I am glad I got dessert. The balance of flavors with the peanut butter chocolate cake was perfect: mostly chocolate flavor with the background taste of peanut butter. The venue itself is beautiful, service was great, food was outstanding and drinks were delicious. The room had so many windows and offered a beautiful view of the Delaware river and Philly skyline. I absolutely love The Riverwinds. I need to go there more often. I have been there on many different occasions and have never been disappointed. It sits right on the Delaware River where you can see Philadelphia across the river and some planes go back and forth because PHL is nearby. I had a great meal. I've never stopped in Jersey to eat, only drive through. Luckily I was able to visit for a business lunch. The view was incredible! Watching the calm waters, boats, birds, and planes landing was really nice while waiting for our meal. I ordered the smokehouse burger which was really good. It comes with onion rings, which I don't like, but actually enjoyed. There was a nice smokey taste and it was just very delicious. For dessert I got some kind of chocolate cake with mouse. That was also good - chocolatey, light, and I believe it there was cream cheese and/or white chocolate in the middle. It was amazing. The dinner- we had a reservation and we weren't seated until 15-20 mins after. No big deal! We grabbed a drink at the bar. Once we were sitting we had two servers..? One took our drinks and apps then another came up and asked for our drinks and apps, it was confusing but they seemed to work it out. The apps we had were the cheese steak eggs rolls, clams, and calamari. The calamari was good cooked well, with normal marinara sauce. Cheese steak eggs rolls were huge! There was a ton of meat in them but they were dry... WHERES THE CHEESE?! Lastly the clams were a nice size, it's hard to mess up something you don't cook. Now time for the entrees. Overall they were subpar. Everyone was pleased but for the price I was expecting better. The one dish that was amazing is the lobster ravioli with crab meat. That was the best dish on the table. The desserts were fine as well, the peanut butter pie thing was the best! If you were looking for a fancy night out this is a place with a good view. However, the night turned out to be a pretty pleasant one after all. I enjoyed my drink and starter salad. I got the crab cake as my entrée- it comes with lobster cream on top so I ordered it on the side. The dish was so yummy. I am very picky about crab cakes, but they were perfectly full of lump crab meat. There was very little filler in the cake. Scallops were cook perfectly but did not pack enough punch even with the mango salsa. The chicken cobb salad was very good but the salad dressing did not taste like anything just oil, i would suggest requesting additional dressing like the raspberry vinaigrette which was very good.
