This restaurant is adequate, at best. However, I'm with a group that has been coming here for well over a year, monthly, for birthday celebrations. We typically have 15-20 ladies that attend. Sometimes smaller, but averaging about this amount. Sunday, when we went for the lunch, the manager was rude and treated the woman in charge of the event TERRIBLY! He told her "he wasn't sure he could accommodate us. He wasn't used to a group that size." He claimed we had never had more than 6 at an event. (WRONG!) She was so shaken she called the leader of our group for him to speak to her, and he started bullying the first lady after he got off the phone, and literally almost physically pushed her out the door. Considering this restaurant is typically almost empty of patrons every time we have been there, I would think he would WELCOME a recurring group that always eats, orders drinks and tips well. We will now move on to a new venue for our monthly event. I won't miss going to Riviera Dunes. About the only redeeming quality was the lovely view of the boats. We can find that at a number of restaurants in the area. I kind of feel like Julia Roberts in the shopping scene in Pretty Woman. "Big mistake. Big. Huge." Maybe there are more than one reason this restaurant is often virtually empty. It's called customer service. read more

Best burger around! Big, thick, juicy, and cooked perfectly. I frequently have trouble around here getting burgers cooked "my way". I like them rare, with Swiss cheese and grilled mushrooms. Gabriel, our server, assured me that he would ask the chef personally to get my burger right. Excellent! Kudos to Gabriel and to Daniel, the chef. The fish and chips here are my FAVORITE. If you want absolute perfection, try the corn risotto as one of your sides. We've had good table service here but the bar service is where it's at. Sit at Kay's bar and you'll never be lonely. She's so personable and makes the best recommendations. My boyfriend and I decided to go here after we found out there was a long wait for another restaurant, and I am so glad we did! The food was very good - I had got the blackened Mahi salad and he had the mahi dinner. We started with the Volcano shrimp, which I highly recommend, though the portion was somewhat small with only 6 shrimp. Really disappointing experience tonight. We made reservations a week in advance for dinner. When we arrived, the hostess told us it would be 45 minutes to an hour. I let her know that we had a reservation (we were 8 min early) and she let us know they had overbooked and the kitchen was backed up so it would be 45 minutes to an hour even with reservations. Had a great time celebrating my brothers birthday here. Nothing crazy just a meal with 4 of us sitting outside enjoying views of the marina. We were welcomed by friendly women at the check in area and Gee Gee took us to our table outside. She made great recommendations and was honest about items she hadn't tasted. Between the 4 of us we had bbq wings (app), grouper tacos, the chicken bruschetta sandwich and 2 of us had the fish and chips. All of us truly enjoyed the food. Gee Gee was fun and bantered with us quite a bit. Will definitely be back. At first I was concerned that we were not dressed appropriately. The place looked like it could be very upscale from the outside and entryway. Cute ambiance!!!! Soooo much potential!!!! Ok food, but expensive, and terrible service. Our waitress was nice but not attentive. Tables were left dirty for extended periods. Food arrived but no condiments like ketchup until we asked but that arrived after the fries were cold. I ordered the coconut shrimp combo. There were two pieces of cod. One was perfectly fried. The other piece was soggy. It came with three large coconut encrusted shrimp but they were WAY over cooked. The marmalade was delicious with the shrimp. The coleslaw was very good. The romaine wedge was fantastic. The buffalo chicken egg rolls were fantastic and HUGE!!! Very tasty!!! I probably won't go back. Dirty tables, HOT dining room, poor service, bar tender dropping dishes with EXCESSIVE noise...while the food was ok, the rest of the picture was not so great. read more

Dockside is arguably the best restaurant in Palmetto. Great outdoor seating on the marina, inside seating is great for couples or groups. Nice inside seating that gives an upscale feel, and the menu is both varied and reasonably priced. Food is great, rarely disappoints. Thd servers are friendly and attentive. Disappointing. We went for brunch on a Sunday. We ate outside near the marina. It really wasn't that busy. They didn't seem short staffed. Our waitress was just unfriendly and inattentive. We had to coax her over to answer a question and for our check. She also never offered refills on our sodas. We had a Blackened Mahi salad with greens, mango, avocado and balsamic vinaigrette. It was good. We also tried the peel and eat shrimp. It was fresh and tasty. The wings however were not worth almost $1.80 a wing! Dockside is a hidden gem. Located at a marina, with a great outside. Dockside also provide live music with an area for dancing. The menu is full of options, from fresh fish and pasta to great tacos.
