This was our first time visiting Riviera Maya and the three stars is not necessarily for anything bad, but rather for just being average. The service was fine and the seating was in accordance to new health department guidelines. The decor is straight out of the "Mexican restaurant in a box" catalog. If you have been to Lindo Mexico or El Rodeo or.......you have seen this interior. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and accidentally got it with the shredded chicken. That means it came with all of the peppers and onions in it. That is my fault. The refried beans were good, and the chips that you get for free we're good as well. The salsa was nothing spectacular. Our Margaritas were average normal Mexican restaurant margaritas. If you are on the east side of Lafayette and do not want to travel to El Mason, Lindo Mexico, or some of the other restaurants in town, then your Mexican fix will be fulfilled by going here. The place is brand new and already firing on most cylinders. Good job with masks and distancing. Some of the best salsa I've had in a restaurant. I had the enchiladas Cancun aka shrimp enchiladas. They were amazing. Great flavors and not drenched in sauce. Served with beans and rice, both tasty. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees as well. Service was good but I think they were a little overwhelmed by a big dinner rush. We had to wait a few minutes for refills. Also, so new that their liquor license isn't active. Delicious food, clean restaurant and absolutely lovely people. I was visiting Lafayette & obviously for lunch there is nothing better than tacos. I come across this restaurant. As I park, the staff comes rushing out noticing a smoke trail of fire. Couple bushes were burning but they were quick enough to get water and stop the fire! This place just opened up, so they still have a few kinks to work out. When we visited (10/11/20), they didn't have any soft drinks available, just water and tea (sweetened and unsweetened); this wasn't an issue for us, but I know it could be for some people (I think their machine was down, because they do normally have them). They also won't have alcohol until 10/14, if that's an issue for you. The space is bright and welcoming, with plenty of seating (both booths and tables). The banquettes seem to be custom made, and there are beautiful masks and mosaics decorating the walls. I never would have imagined that this space had once been an Italian restaurant! There is outdoor seating, but it didn't seem to be in use even though the weather was gorgeous. Service was polite, though food was brought out as it was finished, instead of all together. I was a little taken aback when the waiter started trying to take my plate as he asked if I was finished (I wanted a box, because portions are MASSIVE). Payment was done by scanning a QR code, which was convenient, though it wasn't working for us. They do have a handheld card reader they can bring around. We love this place so much that we eat here a few times a month. Everything is reasonably priced, especially their margaritas. My favorite is the Western jalapeño and the Mango. We typically get their faijitas because it's so much food we can share it. With my husband being gluten free, he can eat the corn chips with salsa, and for the faijitas we get the corn tortillas. The service is always quick and we are amazed at how fast the food comes out. They have a cute patio area, where we love to sit during the warmer days. The menu has the standard Mexican-American dishes. I didn't see many surprises or house specialties. I had the flautes lunch special and it was delicious! They were hot and stuffed full of moist shredded chicken. On the side was an ample amount of toppings that included guacamole at no additional cost. The rice and beans were standard. We went for lunch and hadn't eaten that day. I had the stuffed chili pepper had no flavor and there was a taco on lunch special 20. The taco was a taco shell that looked store-bought and a spoonful of meat in it. I didn't taste it, as I said we didn't finish our surprisingly small plates. They don't have the kids menu available yet, but there are plenty of smaller options for children. This place is where the old Spaghetti's used to be located. The food here kind of reminds me a bit of Chi Chi's.... if you are old enough to get that reference. It's a very Americanized TexMex restaurant that serves a lot of food on your plate. For the everyday Joe, this place is fine. If you are expecting anything close to authentic, this isn't it. In fact we started laughing when the waitress asked us what a Poblano was when I had asked her if any of the dishes contained them. I then asked what dishes they had that were spicy on the menu, and she didn't know and 2 other waiters came over when she asked, and they all kind of laughed. Yeah, then we laughed too because here we are at a Mexican restaurant and there's nothing spicy on the menu. Lol ! I got a horchata to drink. It was fairly tasteless. I also got a margarita and that was weak. Dang it, I really needed a drink. *sigh* The chips and salsa were probably the highlight of the meal. The salsa tasted really fresh. The chips looked and tasted made in-house and were light and crispy. My friend got a chimichanga and seemed to like it. I got the shrimp al diablo. The ONLY somewhat spicy item on the entire menu. They did have a salsa they brought out that you could add that was brown and spicy, but I didn't really like it. It kind of tasted like burnt dirt. Haha. They gave me salsa verde and that was fine. This is what I ended up using on my shrimp. Corn tortillas are available, so that's good. Most people get the flour tortillas, but corn is a bit more traditional. The Diablo (devil in Spanish) was missing heat... it had a little; but, well, I did say this was Americanized afterall. The Devil apparently lives in a condo on the lake lol !!! Each dinner was served with lots of rice and beans. So, I gave it 4 stars because it's a lot of food and it's decent. Many people will probably like it. No rice, no garnish, just the burrito and beans. For over 15 bucks that's pretty disappointing. Cheese sauce was fire though. I think you could find better value elsewhere. read more

So this is a new restaurant in town, but it is a chain. I'd say food is on the low end of the spectrum for mexican food. Very bland, basic flavors perfect for the typical gringo palate. I am writing this review on behalf of my friend because we are so upset by her experience here. My friend is vegetarian for religious reasons and she ordered a vegetarian item from the vegetarian menu, as a vegetarian does. However, they served beef in her food and not knowing what beef is supposed to taste like, she unknowingly ate most of her quesadilla. When she did realize something was off, she realized that there might've been meat in her food. When she pointed this out to the server, they laughed and said "It's just a little bit of meat". Since when was inattention to customer needs and disrespect something to laugh off? Yes, she ate it and it didn't severely affect her but she specifically ordered vegetarian for a reason. People have different reasons for their dietary restrictions, and it doesn't hurt to respect them. The lack of accountability, no compensation, and no managers/acting-managers present to handle the issue was also baffling. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be respectful and considerate of people's dietary restrictions and preferences! Dining should be an enjoyable experience for everyone, and this situation could have easily been avoided. read more

the food is always pretty good, but more often than not I am disappointed with the service -- both in house and for carry out. the staff just isn't very attentive, and there have been multiple times that the hostesses have failed to read the order notes when relaying online carry out orders to the kitchen, requiring me to send the food back to be remade. today it took an hour for me to get my lunch due to similar mistakes. they've also changed their policy so that you have to pay extra for chips and salsa with carry out, despite me already paying $20 for my to go meal.
