Great food, great service! Really needs a good cleaning. Back room extremely dirty, dead flies and dust, shades are filthy. At the entrance the cigarette butts and empty cigarette packages are scattered around. Not very appetizing. Put empty cans at least maybe smokers can put their butts in. Food was not worth the overinflated prices. Very dirty inside. Appears floors, counters etc. have never been cleaned. I was looking for a good old fashion breakfast. I was not disappointed. I was a little skeptical when I drive up. The staff was very friendly and knew most of their patrons by name. The waitress even turned down the ceiling fan for a customer. Before he asked knowing that it was the only booth open. I loved my corned beef and hash. The service was great. Husband and I stopped in on our way home, we always pass this place but have never been inside--we were missing out! It's very clear that everything is homemade, after a bite of simple scrambled eggs I was in love, the bacon was amazing, French toast was of bakery quality, I am still very impressed! Dinner / Dive for sure. I'm kind of a stickler on clean places to eat. This is not one of them. Parking is super easy, they have gravel lot.... park anywhere. We were there about 10:00 with 6 of us, including 2 kids. Seating was simple.... seat yourself. The table was dirty and not set for us, when I told the waitress she was super apologetic and came over right away to get it taken care of for us. The floors and chairs were Disgusting and incredibly dirty. No vegan items on the menu... but they were very accommodating by allowing me to create my own dish. I had a breakfast burrito with hashbrowns and all the veggies. I asked to have fresh tomatoes instead of cooked, they just left those off. I got a side of house potatoes and sour dough toast. 8.99 my husband got the sausage, biscuits and gravy. He said the b&g were ok but the sausage had a weird taste...... almost like it was chicken or turkey sausage. He wouldn't order that again. The waitresses came over often to check on us and our food came in an average time , pipping hot! This is defiantly a locals only dive cafe. If we are meeting people there, we would go again... but not if we had other options. Just sayin. read more

We stopped in here on our way back from touring around Virginia City. That was a tourist trap waste of time, but that's another story. I found the Roadrunner café and the reviews looked good. Though mostly for breakfast, we were here for lunch. We sat in a nice booth, the counter seats seemed like for the locals. All the rest of the reviews seem like they were for breakfast. Service was right there and friendly and water was served. I decided on the Mushroom Swiss Burger and my friend had the Patty Melt, both orders with fries. They were both around $8.50 each. Our food arrives and both burgers look fab. Generous amounts of fries is always a good thing. The burgers were made with 1/3 lb. patties and my Swiss cheese was nice and melted covered with sautéed mushrooms. I forgot I shudda asked for grilled onions too, but oh well. My friend really like the Patty Melt, with just the right crunch of a coarse rye bread buttered and grilled. Our fries were crisp and tasty too. This was a good stop to make. I don't know if I'll be back, but if I ever get back to this area, I'd stop in here for lunch for sure. Most people seemed to have breakfast, but the lunch sandwiches are great too. So let me start by saying I have been craving a real breakfast burrito for weeks now, and have not been able to find one. You know how that goes when you want something specific but can't seem to find the place to satisfy? Well, thankfully for me - this place satisfied! The location is very homey, and close. It's not a large location so that's something to keep in mind if you bring a large group, I'd say 3 or more. But that doesn't detract from the attentiveness of the waitress. There is only one waitress, but she is amazing. Her ability to interact with children, the frequency she checks on everyone, and her general demeanor is awesome. I could even go as far as to say her attitude is infectious, she's just so damn happy! Now, one thing that was very awesome to me was the willingness for them to make our needs met. I had my three kids and sometimes ordering food for them is difficult. We ordered the French toast sandwich for our two youngest - 3 slices of French toast, 2 eggs, and either 2 sausage or 2 bacon. She offered to separate it so we wouldn't have to do so when we got the food. That was immediately helpful, as it's always a hassle to try and adequately separate their food. Both of them are almost everything on their plate, which is astounding since they never have big appetites, so you can see how good it was. Then my oldest got the pancake sandwich - similar to the French toast sandwich, but two whole-plate-sized-pancakes instead. I swear they were as big as her face if not bigger! She ended up having left overs but loved what she had. Then my boyfriend had an omelet but with no meat. The waitress said since he wasn't having meat, he could have any other addition for free. That was pretty damn cool, because he's used to spending a lot for meatless options! He had no complaints about his omelet. Then to my breakfast burrito. I got a bacon breakfast burrito, added the hash browns inside, and mushrooms. Good grief was this amazing! I was so happy to finally have my craving satisfied! The ONLY complaint I have and what dropped my review to 4 stars - drinks do NOT have free refills. Since there were five of us, with five drinks, and four got refills - that hiked the price up REALLY quick. The big part, we weren't even notified that refills were the cost of a full priced drink. We ate here years ago and we were excited to come back and see if it was still as good They did not disappoint! The ladies are so nice. Now this place is kinda small. So u may wait for a seat when u arrive. However I haven't had to wait very long. We were seated immediately and placed our drink orders. We were seated in a booth that had like two tables put together and made into one booth. So it seemed like we were far from my dad and his wife and it was hard to hear each other at times when we talked bcz there were other people near us and they were kinda loud. No biggie. The menu is a great menu with plenty of choices. Being breakfast I opted for pork chips and eggs with hash browns. My wife had a ham and spinach omelette. I also opted for a biscuit with gravy instead of toast. The food arrived pretty quickly and smelled amazing. I was even happier that the food tastes as good as when we last came here. The coffee was equally good. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Dayton Nevada is just outside of Carson City. When u come into town the cafe is on your right as u drive in. U can't miss it. But get there early cz it can get packed. I haven't had lunch there yet. So I can comment on that. Beep Beep! Yelp once again came to the rescue. Jean and I are in Carson City visiting relatives. Hankering for a good breakfast, we consulted yelp. None of the places in Carson City looked very good. I like a place with more than one or two reviews. We decided to look at some of the neighboring towns. Drove out to the Roadrunner. Passed it by the first time down Hwy 50, the turn off for Douglas Rd is a bit hard to see. Looks like the entry to a gas station. So if you look for the gas station, called the S&S then the turn off is easier to find. Parking lot was full of pick up trucks and cars all with Nevada plates. A good sign! Nice place, clean and friendly folks. All locals, which we loved. Decent coffee but the water out here is a bit flavorful (well water?) so it's a little strange tasting but it was hot and it kept coming. Our cups were never empty thanks to our friendly host. We ordered bacon and eggs and a side of biscuits and gravy plus one of the daily specials, a homemade cinnamon roll. It was outstanding. The bacon was cooked perfectly crisp, as I had requested. (you'd be surprised by how many places don't cook bacon crisp-well, maybe you wouldn't be surprised!) The eggs were nice, over easy. I didn't love the home fries, but had plenty of other food to make me happy. The biscuits and gravy were delicious. All of the pork family was represented in the gravy, ham, bacon and sausage! Huge biscuits and plenty of gravy. The cinnamon roll was gigantic, slathered in frosting with a big pat of butter melting on the top. Decadent and satisfying. We really enjoyed getting away from touristy Carson City and away from cigarette smoke. Huge, inexpensive breakfast served by friendly folks. Take a drive to the Roadrunner and enjoy! read more

We were in Dayton early in the morning. Needed somewhere to have some breakfast and didn't want to go to any casino or chain so we fired up the Yelp app and looked for breakfast. Roadrunner came up and had good reviews so we headed over there and gave it a try. We were NOT disappointed. This is a small restaurant with a small town feel where it does seem everyone knows everyone. That said we were warmly welcomed, and service was great. They have good old fashioned breakfasts here - great biscuits and gravy, tasty eggs, hash browns and everything. Great experience here and next time we're in town we'll definitely be back read more

I live in Dayton and the Roadrunner is my go-to place for breakfast. In the last couple of years I've become a regular and Davin, Shannon, and Rachael recognize me when I come in for coffee or breakfast. Their food is really good, and in my opinion they have the best home fries in Northern Nevada. Maybe the whole state! Shannon and Rachael are awesome waitresses who give their customers plenty of attention, even when the place is packed. My coffee never gets cold! A couple of my favorites on the menu are the Sausage and Egg breakfast, and the Veggie Omelet. Their Smoked Sausage breakfast is pretty darn awesome as well. I love this place. I eat here often. And the thing that is most amazing about this place is the quality of their ingredients. Their bacon is unbelievable. My favorite thing on the menu is their chili cheese omelette. I am a crazy insane lover of hashbrowns, but here I get the home fries, they are awesome. Much thanks to the cop sitting at the counter next to me one morning, who ordered them. I thought "man, if he has been eating here for a long time and he prefers home fries over the hashbrowns, I have to try them". Boy was I glad that I did. I highly recommended this place.
