After my vet called in an order at roadrunner pharmacy, I looked them up and read some reviews that were concerning. My cat is very ill and my vet chose roadrunner so I could have the medication shipped overnight. Unfortunately it was the Thursday before 4th of July weekend. Even though UPS was open on Friday, July 3rd, Roadrunner was closed Friday through Sunday for the holiday. I called and asked about the prescription status to see if there was any way the medicine could make it out in Thursday's shipment. The service representative was very professional and courteous. She said she couldn't guarantee they would have it prepared in time to go out that day but she would do her best. I was incredibly pleased and grateful when I received an email from UPS later in the day, saying my order would arrive the next day. In my situation, it was well worth paying $20 for overnight shipping and roadrunner came through for me - and most importantly for my cat. read more

So, my precious black and white Shitzu angel STILL does not have her compounded antibiotics from Roadrunner due to the lies they told me (see previous post) and NOW we are snowed in and UPS can't deliver it the meds to us- we had great weather when the order was taken Dec 22 and now this is JAN 7th. Consider yourself warned: Do not order from Roadrunner Pharmacy because, in my experience, they are incapable of filling a simple order in a timely way. A little background: They quoted a very good price for my cat's meds so I gave them a credit card number and all the other required info and placed an order. The order didn't arrive on the day they said it would so I called them. I will spare you all the details regarding the number of phone calls we exchanged and how much time I invested trying to find out what happened to my order. Suffice it to say that more than a week has elapsed since I placed my order and now my cat is a day away from running out of medication, all because Roadrunner Pharmacy was so inept. Yes, you might save money using them, but you will need a boat-load of patience if you attempt to place an order and it disappears into the ether, as mine seems to have. Our veterinarian ordered medication for our cat. I paid extra to have the medicine sent 2nd day air to our home address. The medication has not arrived-4 days later. Now it is Friday and the pharmacy will not be open until Monday. Our cat is suffering as a result of not having his medication. It's very easy to get medication for my pets that need a special formulation. When I really needed to get something quickly for my pet and I was willing to pay for faster shipping the gentleman on the phone said he couldn't promise it would go out before the weekend since it was already 3pm on Friday, and I completely understand that. I was surprised when I got it so quickly and appreciate the effort he must've made so I could get it sooner. They are always reliable and easier to deal with than my regular pharmacy. This pharmacy has amazing service, excellent prices and even sent a toy for my dog in each shipment. My dog required an antifungal medication for the long term. My veterinarian set me up with them so save on the medication. I ordered it in 60 day supplies and phoned in my refills. The phone reps were always pleasant and helpful and I received my shipments quick via UPS Air. My dog ended up passing away so I no longer order from them. If they can't reliably get me a prescription refill in a reasonable amount of time, I simply can't use them or recommend them. I called almost 2 weeks ago for a refill on a daily prescription that my cat has had for months. For some reason they said there were no refills when there were. They said they would call the vet and get back to me. A week later and nothing. So I call again and they respond with oops, you're right, there are refills, we will get that right out to you. A few days go by and, again, nothing happens. So I call a third time and they respond again with oops, we will get right on that and ship that to you overnight for free. They even went as far as to say they would call me back if they couldn't get it to me the next day. No call, so I assume they shipped it out. The next afternoon, nothing. So I call a FOURTH time and again they respond with... you guessed it, oops, we didn't ship it out in time so it won't be there for another 3 or 4 days. My cat will have been without his medication for 4 or 5 days by the time I get the refill. He will get sick in that time, so now I have to run around trying to find someone who has his prescription. I'm done. I can't have a pharmacy have that many "oops" moments and feel comfortable with them handling medications. read more

But if you must go there because your vet has told you to go there, be sure to call the pharmacy as soon as your vet calls in the prescription because the pharmacy will not start to prepare your medication until they have got you to pay for it. My dog has Cushings Disease and his Vet started him on Trilostane whic, is a compounded RX that we ordered from this pharmacy. After 2 months and hundreds of $$, our dogs health declined as his Cushings grew worse. On Thursday Aug. 17, 2017 we get a call from this pharmacy stating that they have suspended their Trilostane shipments due to "Quality Assurance" issues with this medication. Beware of this place. Getting my dogs medicine made into meat tablets that she will actually eat has been a lifesaver for me. When i first started getting her medication from them, it came in a neat little slide out case with a spatula for scooping out the tablets. The only downside was that it needed to be refrigerated. They came up with a new formula that didn't need to be refrigerated. At first this was great. I was able to order them and rush the order if necessary...even after the formula change. I never had any issues. I don't know if they changed formulas again, or due to covid they are understaffed, but it is no longer possible to get her medication expedited. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that my vet clinic can't get their act together and respond to requests for updated rx's. Another issue i'm having with them lately is the tablets are drying out because the bubble pack isn't being universally sealed. I was tempted to rate them 3 stars, but decided to bump it back up to 4 because i have spoken to them about the issue and they have stated that i can keep track of the number of tablets that are going to waste and they will credit my account for them. I am going to have to start doing this because i have been throwing a lot of them away, it's such a pain to keep track, save, take pictures but i'm sure it will make a difference financially because these suckers are expensive! But my BIGGEST complaint....and the BEST thing about this company....is how they care about the pets they are helping take care of and send them a toy with every shipment. My dog has learned what the package looks like and is always anxious and excited to see what new toy awaits for her. Sadly, she has been disappointed with the last two shipments. The first one arrived with a cat toy instead of a dog one. And the last shipment had nothing at all. My heart broke for her as she kept barking waiting for her toy and then searching the box. My vet sent my cat's prescriptions to Roadrunner, even though we're in San Francisco, because the little beast won't take medicines by mouth. Roadrunner makes her transdermal gels I can rub into her ears (which she also doesn't like, but tolerates), and she seems to be perking up. The reps I've spoken with are always friendly, and the compounding and shipping usually take only 2 business days. I always forget to contact the vet before I run out of refills, and these folks call my vet to confirm they can refill! Sometimes it takes longer than I tend to think it should, but as long as I remember to be calm and allow a few minutes, it's a pleasant experience. All in all, Roadrunner takes a lot of the stress out of having a senior cat with chronic health issues. Plus including a toy in the med box is a very nice touch. I cannot fathom the negative reviews; I've had nothing but extremely fantastic service since starting with Roadrunner almost a year ago. It was very nice of my Vet to tell me about them. Roadrunner's price on my dog's heart medicine was 1/3 what it would have cost to have the vet fill it. Even though they advertise fills within 5 business days, I've consistently re wicked his med within 3 calendar days! (Don't risk waiting till last minute though!) Customer service has been awesome every time I've called - quick to answer, kind & personable, efficient. Rep on last call took time to ask my dog's age/breed/name & when I told her how much he loved the toys, she asked me to send her a pic. I really feel like they care about my dog. This place is awful. Really rude and if you have a problem they spend more time telling you how it isn't their fault instead of helping you fix it. My vet faxed them on 3 separate days and Road Runner told me they never got the faxes. They blamed my vet's fax machine for not working right. Then they said they get hundreds of faxes a day so maybe it just didn't go through. The supervisor then told me, "Personally, I don't trust faxes." It took me 6 days of constant calling to finally get my cat's medicine set right. They then offered to expedite it for me for only $17 instead of the usual $27. I declined. This place is awful. Even one of the people I spoke to told me the system is a mess and no one knows what's going on. Find someone else, trust me. read more

I have been dealing with this pharmacy for a couple years now as my vet doesn't trust any other pharmacy for compounded meds. On the package it says give up to 5 days to receive a refill. It has never taken less that a week if not more to receive my order. They claim 5 days but its 5 days for them to refill before its shipped. Its very misleading and not fair to the pet owner to not be honest with the 5 day refill label. In addition, I have had them send the wrong prescriptions even when prescription number was used to order it. When I called they admitted the mistake but forgot to send the needed medication. I had to call and order it again and I had to wait almost three weeks to get his medication. One of my cats has pet insurance and I have asked time and time again to get a payment receipt put into his order so I can submit to his insurance. I cant get that to happen no matter how many times I ask. I always have to call a second time and request it separately. This place is a pain to deal with and I would give anything to have another, more reliable option. I would much rather have a more reliable company than a free toy in every order. Sometimes I receive a large dog toy which is worthless to my cats anyway! read more

Horse people beware: If you order compounded Pentosan from this place, pay attention to the 'made' and 'use by' dates. I've been ordering a 30mL by autoship for monthly 6mL doses unfortunately and realized later than I'd like to admit that I've been giving my senior horse with Osteoarthritis expired meds via IM injections. Why? Because often the meds don't ship for a couple of months after Roadrunner makes them and the there are only a couple or a few doses left during the six month period. The parent company Covetrus, who bought out Roadrunner offered me partial refunds on expired meds, which I appreciate, but the bigger issue here is: why deliver medications to people with a 6 month shelf life with nearly half the shelf life spoken for already? I've been a Roadrunner customer for about four years, and I've rarely had a problem with them. Once or twice the meds came in a day or two later than they projected, but they're always boxed very well, are in great condition, and come with a little cat toy in it, which I donate to the poor cats because my own have more toys than Richie Rich. Once, when the dosage was changed and the syringes as well, a representative spent a patient 15 minutes on the phone with me explaining which little lines I should pay attention to. If you have an on-going prescription that needs to get fulfilled for your pet, then Road Runner can be a good alternate to more expensive pharmacies. I was happy with their service until recently, and which had a pretty bad impact on my poor cat, Howard. Howie was diagnosed with lymphoma and the cancer center I was working with in California called in 3 or 4 different prescriptions for him on a Monday afternoon. Normally I hear from RR pretty quickly, but when I hadn't heard anything by Wednesday morning, I called in and spoke with someone who basically said, "oh- so we never called you about a prescription?" I told them no, but I was calling in about it. She said she found the prescription was put into a "box" that no one looks at, which seems less than helpful. I'd like to mention that the meds I was waiting for were to help my cat with his appetite. One was an anti-nausea med, another was an appetite enhancer, and also a steroid that was supposed to help my Howie feel better. So, yeah-- all extremely important to an extremely ill cat. I asked her to charge the card I had on file, and to please get the meds sent out. End of that week-- still no meds. My Dad had to take my cat back into the cancer center for another $700 because of not receiving any medication. Howie of course was miserable and had continued to lose weight because of not receiving his medication. We finally received Howie's meds late Monday afternoon-- a week after they were called in. I figured it was partly because of the time it took to ship from CA, then I found out they sent it out late Friday afternoon with overnight shipping. Really? Overnight shipping on a friday night? I called them on Monday Nov 11th to talk to someone about this because I was so upset. The person I talked to said that they would look into the issue, she would contact her supervisor and maybe the owner to see what they could do for me. Guess what-- I've NEVER heard back from them. Oh- and I had to have my Howie euthanized on Saturday the 16th, which obviously he was ill anyway, but I firmly believe that his life could have been extend. I'm heartbroken and completely disgusted with the disregard on Road Runners part for this. Big time fails through this whole process and zero contact from them. I'm really disappointed as I had used them for a couple years prior to this. I will absolutely never use them again after this. They don't deserve my money and my animals deserve better than their crappy service. OH-- and just as an update. I still have not spoken to a supervisor- but they made someone else come back and email me after an additional email I sent, and say basically "too bad.. so sad. nothing is our fault." We took our sick kitten to the Vet. late on Monday evening. We were told a pharmacy would call us next day to arrange delivery for medication. They didn't call until 3:00 pm CA time..4:00 AZ time. too late to ship the meds that day. I asked about expedited shipping and the operator said all they could guarantee was that the meds would leave Wednesday, Thursday was Thanksgiving, and I should get it Friday or Saturday at latest...Today is the following Tuesday, a week later..I just called and the was told that "it should leave today"" WTF??? what happend to guarantee it will leave last Wednesday...not to mention the following Monday?? I have used this pharmacy for years. They use to be awesome. Now...not so much. First if your refills have run out and they need to contact your vet you had better have more than two weeks of meds left. Be prepared to make numerous phone calls to get them to connect with your vet. Make sure when they tell you that they have contacted your vet, to call your vet yourself. This will happen multiple times until you finally find someone at the pharmacy who will actually make sure that your vet is receiving the order. After much frustration you will finally get the refill order and then you can wait another 5 days to get the meds. So sometime after two weeks from first phone call you get your pet's meds. So sad that they have gone downhill. But my pet needs compounded meds so.....I will set aside time and effort each time to get his pills. read more

Called Roadrunner pharmacy to get information about a medication for our dog because our previous compounding pharmacy had closed. I am a new customer and simply asked for the price of the medication. The rep on the other end told me that they needed a prescription from our vet before they would quote me a price. I would have to pay for a visit to my vet in order to have them send the Rx, only THEN would Roadrunner reveal the price to me. When I mentioned to the the rep that if the price is not acceptable to me then I have to call and have them transfer the Rx again, she could not care less and kept saying, "it's our policy...." Poor customer service. When a company starts spouting "policy" my immediate reaction is to take my business elsewhere; which is exactly what I did. Called another pharmacy (Stokes in NJ), who was very professional, quoted the prices and could mail my dog's Rx to us so we would receive it within two days. read more
