Well, yes! Yes indeed. We stopped by unexpectedly since we were out gallivanting. The appetizers beckoned to me and they did not disappoint. I had the Short Rib tacos as an entree. My partner in crime had the Fish & Chips. I also had the Michigan Cherry Salad as a side salad. My goodness the food was amazing. I later learned that the tacos can be ordered individually. The appetizer comes with 3 which felt a tiny bit scant for a meal or an app so I ordered one more. The presentation was perfect! I might not have needed it but it was so flavorful it was worth it. My companion's Fish & Chips was very tasty with huge portions, three large pieces of fish, coleslaw and fries. The service was excellent. We were seated immediately, which makes sense for a Monday night. The place was moderately full, with diverse patrons but mostly a blue haired crowd which seemed fascinating to me! Several tables of older couples dining together. It was nice to see. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable. Timely with offerings, and very friendly. My experience here was my ideal dining experience. A great wine list, by the way, and the Sangiovese was on point. But there was no pressure to be anything other than ourselves. We didn't order filet or anything major from the menu and we were treated as if we had. And that? That makes for a great experience. Thank you! read more

I like this restaurant. However, I had dinner there with friends this evening (a party of 5), and I had the special which was written on the board and on the website, as I looked at the specials before I left the house. This was the special I chose "PAN SEARED WALLEYE with Coconut Cilantro Rice, Hominy Veracruz 28. The walleye was delicious and a generous portion. The Hominy Veracruz was also delicious. However, it just hit me two hours later, after I got home. There was no coconut cilantro rice served with my meal. The hominy Veracruz was good, but a little acidic. The coconut cilantro rice would have cooled it off. I wonder now if they just forgot it...hmmm... read more

Not too impressed. Tried this place out for dinner with a few friends. Nothing on the menu was very impressive, just an average grill. I got the salmon on a cedar plank. The salmon and the glaze were good. The green beans and potatoes that came with it were not so great. The green beans were barely cooked and potatoes had no flavor at all. Service was pretty slow as well. Also the placement of the bathrooms was not well thought out. Way too close to tables, I could see into the men's restroom from my seat. read more

Very enjoyable evening. Staff was friendly and very attentive. Food was fresh and full of taste. We enjoyed the guacamole to start. A cup of the tomato bisque soup followed. The soup is a must try. The cars in the parking lot were better than the food. i ordered the short rib tacos and my girlfriend ordered the Buffalo shrimp Caesar salad. The food arrived quickly, but it was mediocre at best. The short rib tacos were overdone, soggy, and stringy like a pot roast that was in a crock pot all day. The salad came with 5 large, soggy breaded shrimp. I really wanted to like it, since it's a 5 minute drive from my house. read more

This has been where we can count on an excellent meal, until the other night. The pasta specials have always been great in the past. Tonight's lobster mac & cheese was bland. No detectable seasoning. The ratio of cheese to mac was anemic. Milk, flour, butter...forgot the cheese it seems. Also almost forgot the lobster. Nice panko crunch. Good cook on the macaroni. But someone forgot to taste it. One of us always orders the panko chicken entre. It had been our favorite. This time the breading was really soggy. No crunch. It hasn't been like that before. The dish still has a great taste, but disappointing texture. Sadly, something has changed. In the future, choosing Roadhouse B&G won't be the no brainer that it's always been unfortunately. LeRoy: We met at the Roadside B&G for lunch and it was a very clean and nice atmosphere. We had a good waitress that supplied our meals - the girls ate their whole meal because it was so good. I can't say the same because while my ribs had a nice flavor but they were not falling off the bone. But overall it was a nice place. Katie: I got the steak stir fry that was on special and it did not disappoint! There were not as many vegetables as I expected but it was still very delicious. We used to go here every Thursday night and really enjoyed our regular spot. The staff was very friendly and we'd enjoy a glass of wine while we waited for our perfectly fine dinner. One night I got really sick afterward, then COVID, and we hadn't been back for a few years. So tonight we went back, thinking surely it's the perfectly fine comfort food we remember. No. It's really not good enough, even for low expectations. My entree came with jasmine rice (interesting, now that I think of it I don't think it was jasmine rice), which was sometimes crunchy. A chili sauce which was that sweet red sauce you get with egg rolls, seemingly unrelated to anything else on the plate and quite frankly kind of nasty tasting. "Slaw", which was 6-8 slivers of cabbage. And tuna, which was too thin to be properly rare and cooked too low to be seared. Was it fine? Ish. It was too salty, the sauce was dissonant, the rice was crunchy, the fish was innocuous but chewy. Other plates on the table: a burned and replaced salmon burger, where the replacement came at dessert time for the table. Unsalted polenta. Perfectly ordinary burger. My wine was good. Simple without being ordinary. The chips were good. In the end, this is not going to be an option for us for a casual night out. Not even "good enough", TBH. read more

I met a friend at Roadside B&G on a frigid winter evening. We were seated by a window (I moved from the window seat to the aisle seat while I waited for her to arrive), where we could watch the wind blow the snow and be glad we were inside. The restaurant is smaller than I thought it would be, and it's also a bit fancier. They had several specials that looked good at first glance, but they "ruined" all of them ith several ingredients in each that I don't like. So, I ended up having the salmon burger ($15) and the chopped Roadside side salad ($5). My friend had fish and chips($16) and French onion soup ($7). We each had hot tea, and they were very good about refilling the hot water an leaving the basket of tea bags for us, which is something that many restaurants don't do. We also shared the chocolate ganache cake ($5). The cake was good, and we were pleased that the raspberries and sauce were on the side, as neither of us particularly likes fruit on chocolate. It also came with a little dish of whipped cream. I thought that the food was ok, but pretty expensive for what you get. The salmon burger was fine, but not spectacular, and nothing that I haven't had for half the price at other restaurants. The same goes for the salad. I only ate half of the sandwich, so I took the other half home. I decide to remake it into a salad -- just the fish, not the bread, and I decided to crumble it and have it cold. I was most disappointed to find a large bit of what i can only describe as gristle in that half of the burger, and it made me wonder if I ate a lot of it in the other half. I would go back if someone wanted to, as the service and atmosphere was nice. But, if I were choosing, it wouldn't be the first restaurant I would pick. read more

Came in for a bunch dates with friends and really enjoyed this place!! Their butter biscuits really stood out to me and I crave them to this day! I ordered the chiquilles brunch which was a Mexican twist breakfast with shredded chicken, tortilla chips, avacado, pico and a nice tomato sauce topped with an egg. The taste reminded me of an enchilada. Very tasty indeed. I also got a side of tatertots with bacon, cheddar cheese and scallions. My friends food did not look disappointing to say the least either. Roadside B&G sits on Telegraph, past dealerships and suburban malls. It has the industrial look that seems to be the preferred aesthetic in restaurant design these last few years. This means exposed ductwork, iron support beams, and cinder block walls. On the outside, vintage metal cars decorate one side of the building. Similar cars are placed throughout the restaurant interior. During warmer weather (which this weekend definitely was not), outside seating is available, enclosed in a clear barrier. There were several interesting brunch items on the menu, including banana pancakes. They sounded delicious but I was in the mood for comfort food, specifically Lobster Mac & Cheese. The ditalini pasta, small pasta tubes, was liberally coated in a béchamel sauce that included 3 different cheeses: Mascarpone, white cheddar, and parmesan. The topping was crunchy and buttery, what you would expect from crushed Ritz crackers. The sauce was assertive enough to stand up to the garlicky, anchovy Caesar salad starter that I had. The sauce did overwhelm the delicate taste of the sweet lobster claw meat, though. There were several options for dessert but the Pineapple Upside cake looked interesting. Hot yellow cake with a coarse crumb, similar to coffee cake, included chunks of pineapple. It has an incredibly sweet and crunchy crust. The accompanying premium vanilla ice cream was covered in a caramelized sugar sauce. In all, this meal was fine but the menu was fairly indistinguishable from those of other restaurants in the area. UPDATE: I left a one star for my previous experience. This is my second time here, and decided to update my review. This time, I really enjoyed the patio. Beautiful greenery, which keeps you away from the busy telegraph traffic. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad sandwich. It was pretty good and something that no one else offers (that I know of). It was served with homemade potato chips, which I thought were over salted. I really enjoyed their homemade biscuits (served complimentary). No complaints about the food, but our sever was pretty awkward. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but she has no clue what silent service is. My husband and I just recently tried this place with a few friends. We put our name in and the hostess said it would be about 30-40 minutes. So we waited at the bar while we ordered a few drinks. 40 minutes passed, so I went to the hostess and she said any minute and our table will be ready. Another 20 minutes went by, and still no table. I went up again, and she said 5 more minutes. Another 15 went by and we finally got a table. So that was the first problem. The food wasn't good. The salad was mediocre, but my husband's chicken was undercooked and had to be sent back. When they brought it back, it had no flavor whatsoever. The waitress was friendly about it (not her fault obviously), no complaints there. Our friends didn't enjoy anything they ordered. I would definitely not come back. A friend suggested this cute place for brunch/lunch on a Saturday around 11am. I was surprised to find that the restaurant was almost empty besides a couple seated tables. I ordered the short rib hash. Before that came out, our server brought out these amazing freshly baked biscuits and jam. So good! Our food arrived shortly after. I absolutely loved my dish. I saw a few people order bloody Mary's and other cocktails that looked great. Would love to try those when my pregnancy is over. One thing that kind of bothered me (not a huge deal) was the rush to clear our plates from the table. The bus boy and servers would stop by every few moments to ask if they could take something. Some still had food that i was slowly grazing on. I'm pregnant! I eat a lot! LOL. Overall a nice place and I'd love to try their dinner menu sometime. read more

It's a solid ok, not fantastic. I recently went with a few friends for dinner. The place was slammed for a Tuesday night, but the wait to be seated was only 25 minutes or so. I waited at the bar for the table, and enjoyed a raspberry mule. Two enthusiastic thumbs up. I ordered a filet for dinner. It took over an hour to get our food from the time we ordered. In the meantime, they brought precisely 4 pieces of bread for the 4 people sitting at the table. No efforts to refill the bread basket were forthcoming. Anyway, on to dinner. On the plus side, my steak was a perfect medium rare and the sauce was fantastic. On the negative side, it was room temperature. Maybe a few degrees above, but no more than that. The truffle tater tots were homemade and delicious. But getting 3 whole tater tots was a bit underwhelming and, again, they were not remotely warm. And asparagus is just asparagus. I didn't complain or send it back, mostly because I was starving and didn't want to wait any longer than I already had. read more

I been here maybe 4 times since their inception. Bill Roberts is a smart man and I like his restaurants. This restaurant could use a little room for improvement on the menu, a bit average in my opinion. However the food isn't bad at all. It's kinda out of the way from where we live. I tend to frequent cafe ML, town tavern and streetside seafood, those are A couple of Bills other establishments. The service here is hit or miss. Today on my visit our server was very intrusive and socially awkward toward us. We didn't care for her approach. I enjoyed a cup of creamy tomato soup and a chicken Caesar. The salad is good and pretty much follows the same recipe as his town tavern location, however I feel it needs something extra. For example, town tavern allows for buffalo shrimp to be added to the salad which is fantastic. Everything here on the menu seems to be a more simplified version of what Bill offers at his other establishments. Again not terrible, the food is fine, but it's average at best. I do like the design and the patio was wonderfully executed with tall shrubs giving you privacy from telegraph rd. Brush up on the service and place a couple of unique jaw droppers on the menu and this place would be a hit in my book. (For example: Town Tavern has the best truffle fries I have ever had) but I cannot say the same for anything here. Anyways, 3 stars isn't a bad review and leaves room for improvement. My husband and I had the Turkey Rueben and a Short Rib Grilled Cheese sandwich. The food is delicious and well priced.
