My insurance company uses them somehow and it took them FOUR HOURS to finally pick up my car. They had originally quoted 60min, I called after 60min had gone by and was quoted another 45min, then called back another 2x asking where my tow was and I kept getting pushed back until finally after 4hrs he showed up. This is by far the most unreliable towing service ever!!!!!!!! if I can rate negative 0 star... I would! They had me waiting for more than 3 hours and still didn't get tow, I just force to drive my car home even though I'm having transmission issue. They have delayed my tow schedule 3x and don't even give me an update every time it's delayed I called about 3-4 time for an update and the people who answers the phone have no etiquette. They don't even apologize for the delay and makes it sound like you're bugging them by calling for an update. Well flash news ladies ... if you don't like working there then quit. AVOID ! AVOID ! AVOID ! Completely UNETHICAL and DECEPTIVE business practices! I would give them a negative 1 million if I could. They are NOT A REPUTABLE company at all. My battery was dead and I called my insurance company for a jump start. A man from Roadway Towing of Escondido came out and he said he could not jump my 3 year old car. I told him this did not make any sense and that I had already called my auto shop, who I have dealt with for 35 years and they said to bring the car down and they would check on my battery and replace it if needed with a 5 year battery for $185. The man told me the only thing he could do was to replace the battery for $385 with a 3 year battery and that 5 year batteries do not exist. We discussed the matter at great length and I felt very taken advantage of. He then was haggling with me on the $385 price, which was a ridiculous price to begin with. I told him my insurance company was paying for them to come out, so why was the $385 so high. After about an hour of discussing this matter with the man, he finally gave me a price of $306, which again was way too high, but I did not have much choice since I had a non-drivable car. He charged me $90 for labor to change out the battery. Again, ridiculous as it takes at most 10 minutes to do. I have replaced my own car batteries in the past, so wow what a rip off. I had Roadway Towing of Escondido come out a little over a month after replacing the battery, because my car battery was dead again. When the man sold me the battery he said it was fully guaranteed for 3 years and if I had any issues to just call them and they would take care of the matter for free. The same guy who replaced my batter came out to jump it. I told him I wanted a brand new battery. He said he tested the battery and it was good and that I must have left something on in the car. I told him that this was not the case and I wanted a new battery. He refused to install a new battery and wanted to charge me $90 to come out and jump my car. I refused to pay this outrageous charge, when he told me originally that the battery was fully covered for 3 years. I had to jump my car two more times in 2 days and took it to my auto shop. They tested the battery and told me the battery had a bad cell and gave me the printout showing me this. My auto shop, which is very reputable replaced this Roadway Towing of Escondido battery with a 5 year fully covered battery for $185. Please never call these people for help. Also, I called my insurance company who sent Roadway Towing of Escondido to jump my car and my insurance company said that Roadway Towing of Escondido should not have done anything, but to jump my car and they are not allowed to upsell customers, which my forcing me to buy a new battery is what they did. Again, the worst company I have ever dealt with, so please DO NOT ever use them. Lastly, I called their office to report this issue and the woman told me that too bad for me and that the battery was a final sale, so Roadway Towing of Escondido would not do anything to help me. My truck broke on the freeway, called my insurance and they hired this company to tow my truck to the dealer. When the driver came to the dealer he said it was closed, and couldn't drop it, which was a TOTAL LIE! The dealer have an open parking area for situations like this. All of this to charge me for "STORAGE". I paid them directly with my credit card for the storage, and they told me they will drop my truck at the dealer at 8:00am. Well, I called the dealer at 9:00am and the truck wasn't there. I called the towing company and they told me the truck was already dropped since last night. I told them: "how? You charged me for storage!" They kept me on the phone for more than 15 minutes to tell me the driver took my truck to his house and wasn't answering the phone, probably he was sleeping as he worked the night, and asked me to call in 1hr. I called in 1 hr as I'm already afraid for the safety of my new truck. Then they told me they were able to locate the driver, but that they could NOT bring the truck to the dealer as I haven't paid for STORAGE and for the TOWING. My GOD !!! They couldn't even find the receipt where I paid them for the storage the previous night. They brutally and rudeness asked me to call my insurance so that they can confirm with them that the towing was paid. When I was talking to this towing company over the phone, they didn't even let me talk, the 2 ladies I talked to were nasty and without any kind of education whatsoever. If the owner of this towing company would know how they treat their customers, they would be fired on the spot. So I called my insurance one more time and had to wait on the phone for over 20 minutes, because nobody at the towing company was picking up the phone. When they finally did, my insurance had to open another case so that the towing company could drop my truck at the dealer. It's already noon, and I'm still waiting for the towing company to bring the truck to the dealer. I don't even understand how an insurance company can hire pity towing companies like this. It's 5:00pm, and they still have the truck at their lot in Escondido. They have told me and the insurance company that there were issues with the traffic, then that we were next on the delivery list, all lies and excuses. My truck has a tracker and I can still see it sot at their yard. They now have HIJACKED my truck! I called them once again at 5:05pm, and now they have hang up on me telling me that they will not talk to me but only to my insurance company. What's going on with them ??? I decided to go straight to them. When I got to their location they didn't allowed me to go inside. I had to call the insurance company to make them turn the track into the street so that other towing company would take from there. A TOTAL NIGHTMARE !!! I wish that our car insurance company didn't contract with the Khati Brothers. Two days in a row we called our insurance company for a tow. They contacted Roadway to come pick us up. After waiting 3 hours the first day I called and they say "another hour." So we call our insurance company and they send another company to help out, ASAP Towing. ASAP came within an hour. The next day we call the insurance company and they initially send Roadway again. This time it took 4 hours and after a few calls with the same answer from Roadway, we contact our insurance again and they send ASAP Towing. Guess what, ASAP shows up within the hour. I was sitting in my office and watched out the window as their truck pulled in to my driveway and immediately turned around and left without stopping or getting out of the truck. I'm pretty sure they get paid by the insurance company just for showing up at the address. They're just driving around claiming that people aren't home and collecting from insurance. If I could give less than one star or no stars I would. I have travelers insurance and they used roadway towing to get my vehicle which was in a residential area towed to my mechanic It took over 2 hours for a tow truck to get to us. We had scheduled for a tow truck at 4:00 and after an hour of waiting I called the tow truck company and the girl Rachel who answered was laughing with her co-workers and did not answer the phone professionally when I asked her for the ETA she said 30 minutes. We waited another 30 minutes and the tow truck didn't show up I called again same service and was told another 30 minutes. When the tow truck finally got to us they told us we had to pay $8 because we were over our miles we called to make the payment and the girl told us it was going to be $608 then she said oh sorry I'm on a good one It will be only $8. After this type of service I did not feel comfortable going home so I went to the mechanic shop to make sure our car was towed to the right place. An hour later the tow truck guy showed up!!!! On August 13th 2018 at 3:45 in the afternoon, I called State Farm for towing assistance. They facilitated an order for a contracted tow company out of Escondido. You guessed it, Roadway Auto Towing. After approximately two hours waiting in 92° heat, no tow truck showed up. On a call back, I was told it would be another hour. Another hour goes by and no tow truck. I called State Farm back and asked them to look into the matter. Afterward,I was contacted by Roadway Auto Towing and was told it would be an additional hour because it was a very busy day. The tow company never showed up or called On August 14th 2018, I started making calls. The first call I made was to management of Roadway Towing in Escondido. I spoke to a male who identified himself as a manager named Tony. Tony the manager's response to me was "if it was my wife who was stranded, I would have ordered a private tow instead of going through your insurance company" Tony the manager went on to explain how busy they are and how sometimes you just have to have a private company tow you. I became suspicious of his remarks because I only had to have the vehicle towed 5 miles to the repair shop. Maybe not enough money to earn away from the insurance company. It looks like poor customer service by this tow company and I would not recommend them at all. I should have paid for a better tow company then got reimbursed from State Farm. read more

So this is for tow service (Roadway)and my insurance company, 21st(Century). Called for tow and get a text from insurance company saying Roadway would be out in an hour. Good start I thought. Then at 1 hour, another text asking if they've showed. I replied no, and they respond they're gonna call Roadway. 10 minutes goes by and then i get another text that another company is coming, but with. 75 minute wait WTH! After calling, guess Roadway had to cancel to go to a cop dispatched accident. BS..so the insurance uses a network of services 10 miles within my location. So, they dispatch one from Esco initially, who then bails, but doesn't call, then inerrancy dispatches one from Oceanside..I live in Oceanside and the 2nd one they dispatched , is 2 miles from my house. Mercury Insurance picked these guys for me, after my wife's car broke down on the side of the road. Initial ETA was 45 minutes (according to Mercury) and 60 minutes (according to the text message). After 75 minutes I called the company and they said they were 30 minutes out. After 45 more minutes I called them again, and now they were 45 minutes out. At the 3 hour point, I gave up and managed to limp the car home at 30 mph with the engine light on. At the least, their dispatcher should be texting or calling me to let me know they're running over. But they didn't bother. At this point, I'm ready to cancel my Mercury roadside assistance (hopefully I can get a refund for some of the years I've been paying). Don't call in an emergency situation, cause they could not care less here. We called through our insurance emergency roadside assistance and waited an hour only to find out that they decided to cancel the dispatch because they couldn't locate our vehicle. Of course we provided our location when we submitted the request for service, but they could've at least called us for directions if they were having a difficult time finding us or at the very least, notify us that they canceled the dispatch. Instead, they decided that they couldn't be bothered and they left us out on the side of the road with a flat tire at 1am. Horrible, unprofessional and very apparent that they don't care. This is a scummy company. Be very careful in any dealings you have with them. I was auto-connected to this business through my credit card's roadside assistance service. Under those terms the service company bills the first $50 of the cost of the service to the card issuer, and I pay the balance. The driver diagnosed a dead battery, and offered to install a new one. The battery was an Interstate M-35, which he offered at $149.99, but would "knock $10 off for me." That was such a red flag, I looked it up on the internet while standing there, and found the MSRP was $104.95. The driver said he couldn't do anything about it. I figured that the driver is just some guy, his bosses are the ones setting the mark-up. Given the $50 subsidy through my credit card, and the convenience of getting it done at the side of the road, it was worth it. AFTER installing the battery, when writing up the receipt, the driver informed me that there was also a $60 installation charge. He claimed to have mentioned it before. I don't remember this at all. It's possible he said it, but it was either fast, muffled, or both. He definitely didn't get a clear confirmation from his customer that I understood the charge. Fine. His word against mine, and it's possible that I misheard something. He took my credit card details, and we parted ways. When I checked my my credit card statement, it turns out they billed me the full $211 of the service cost! They did not deduct the $50 that is supposed to be paid by the credit card. When I called their office to get a refund, they claimed that the $50 was eaten up by the price of sending a driver out to my location. (I have a feeling that you could break down 30 seconds from their HQ and it'd still be $50 to send a guy.) The person on the phone claimed that, "Most of our customers know that the $50 only covers the roadside, and the battery replacement is completely separate." #1. Even if true, MOST customers isn't ALL customers, and upstanding companies explain their pricing up front. #2. "Completely Separate" is a joke. As if they could have replaced a battery in a car without sending someone to the car. It's a service call - you go to where the service is needed and then you perform the service. If the price is going to be different than what was understood before, you explain how, and why. Moral of the story - use someone else if you can. These people are making a living by double-billing customers and credit card companies for the same service, $50 at a time. read more

There could not be a worse company with even worse customer service. We were out of town for a soccer tournament and our battery died. Our insurance road side sent roadway towing. They were over an hr past there already ridiculously long service window and put a hybrid battery in my Armada. This was only discovered 2 months later when I was having battery issues again. I reached out to roadway for resolution and got the run around. I was promised a partial refund and that never happened. I reach out to their customer service email and have been ignored for months. This tow company blows. Thru my Good Sam membership, they were to pick up in Carlsbad and tow my Expedition to Oceanside. I had broken down and barely made it safely to a parking lot. It is very rare, but on this particular day, we had an extreme heat wave so temps were well over 105 degrees. This company confirmed by text saying it would be 60-90 minutes for their arrival. No worries. I locked up the EXP and walked for a snack and then returned. I continued to receive several more texts saying they were enroute and still on track to arrive during the time window. And that their primary goal is to provide excellent service. I was stoked. How cool that a tow company communicates so well. Woo hoo. Then the text updates stopped. 20 minutes after their 90 minute window passed I opted to call them (they include their phone number on the texts in case you have a question). I was informed that they had not left. In fact, they were not going to be enroute for another 20-30 minutes. From a location well over an hour away. Moments later, in the same conversation, the guy said 40-60 minutes before they leave. He rudely told me that if I had an issue that I could call my insurance company back. I called Good Sam back They then called this company, and the woman she spoke with said it would be at least an hour, but likely more. She had the audacity to tell the Good Sam gal that Good Sam was not their priority and they have the option of taking other clients first and moving us down their queue. In this case, their explanation was that there was an emergency and they sent their trucks there instead. I understand that. Emergencies are more important. However they did not call me or Good Sam to let us know so that we could get another truck out to me. They said they were not required to (courtesy clearly is optional). Good Sam refuted that and explained that indeed they were required. As well, Good Sam explained to her that they have a contract and they are obligated to those conditions. When working with your insurance provider, and you have a need for a tow truck, I recommend asking where the tow company is based. Sometimes the provider is in another part of the county. Which is problematic in California. As well, should your provider tell you that this company is one of the options, skip it and ask for a different company. If they have the option to push tows down their queue and to not inform anyone so they don't have to wait for 5 hours, then you have the option to choose differently. read more

I called my insurance company for a tow and was quoted 55 minutes. Right at that 55 minute mark, I get a call from a rude girl at Roadway Auto Towing saying that the driver is delayed, it's going to be another 45 minutes and that the driver would call when he's close. Another 55 minutes go by (nearly 2 hours now) so I call them back. Same rude girl, puts me on hold for 3 minutes, comes back and says it's going to be another 45 minutes. By then, I'm livid, hang up on her and call my insurance company. The guy calls them and says he was told that the driver was pulled off his route because of a police call. The first time I used roadway auto towing, I had an appointment at 2 pm for a device swap in my car and could not be late so I scheduled a tow 4 hours in advance. They told me 60 minutes, 90 minutes pass and still no show. It also said on the app that my car had been serviced (that the tow had already happened) and it was NOT. so I called and was disrespectfully told that I must be mistaken and the car was taken. I was staring at my car in the driveway, disregarded her attitude and said please send another tow. I waited 2 more hours before I canceled. Unfortunately this is the company nationwide uses, so if I want to be covered, I have to go through this company. So I scheduled another tow for a couple days later hoping there would be no issues but the tow was 45 minutes late once again, and to make matters worse the technician locked my keys upon tow back to my house. I could not be there physically, so I assumed the technician would leave the keys underneath the seat and leave the door unlocked but when I called, the supervisor (who is just as unaccommodating and rude as the representatives) told me it isn't there fault and I would have to pay for a locksmith to unlock the car. Wish the technician would have told me that because I am not covered for a locksmith. If the call center representatives weren't so rude, I would have been ok with the experience. So on a good day it sucks to have your car breakdown especially getting off work when all you want to do is get home. Who knew the bright spot was going to be Courtney the tow truck driver. He made the process seamless and yes I'm you to say it, Pleasant. He offered me to get in the truck which was clean and cool. This co was dispatched to me via Chevy Roadside Assistance. The tow guy had NO idea how to jump my hybrid/electric car. What a waste of my time! He proceeded to watch a Utube video on how to jumpstart my cars battery. Then after he was unsuccessful he wanted me to sign his paperwork. I refused! Customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I spoke with a rep named Angie (i think thats her name) and before I even said a word she sounded so rude and upset. I typically dont argue with people, but her lack of compassion, basic customer service, and just plain old common courtesy was just too much. You would think she understands people calling a for a tow truck are having a bad day and quality customer service is important. When I told her that her tone was rude and sarcastic and that she didnt need to talk to me like that her response was "Well thats how I talk" lol. Never again will I use this company. After 30 mins wasted of him trying to figure out how to tow my car, yelling into his phone to his 'manager' in Farci, then telling me he couldn't tow my car because it was in neutral, the guy just left!! Clearly too lazy and unsure how to tow a car. ***Beware of this driver*** The dispatcher, Mayra, though was amazing!! She apologized for the driver's poor behavior and had another driver at my house in less than 15 minutes. The driver, Cesar, showed up and had my car hooked up in less than 5 minutes. No problem. I requested the service to open the hood so that I can jump-start my car (the hood is unable to open), and fill in some air to the tire. The person came to my place for two minutes and then left without anything done. He just asked me to tow my car to the car shop.
