My wife and i have been coming here for approximately 13 years now since the sidewalks were still wooden! People are saying "it's all old fashioned comfort food and if you want to come home, eat at Roady's!." Great friendly staff, I think Beverly has a pocket full of lollipops, attentive and fast service. There's plenty of tables close to the front, more tables in the back, a long counter by the front if you feel like dining alone on a stool or a drink. They also have outside seating if you have a dog or a goat or if you want to enjoy the outside old Town traffic. Parking can be a challenge at the back, but you can also park on the streets. The food is nothing special to talk about, simple but delicious, awesome sandwiches, steaks, waffles and pancakes. No special sauces or ingredients to spoil the taste of old times recipes, family dishes I should say. While you wait for your food prepared, you tend to look at the wood panels all over with native American decor on the walls which brings you back to history. I had the usual Denver Omelet with added mushrooms and biscuits w/ hot gravy and their special sauce on the side. The hash browns tasted a little stale, like it was shredded yesterday, IDK. No biggie though! Orange juice and my coffee cup were always to the brim, thanks, Beverly! When you get waffles or pancakes, ask for extra crispy, it's really better I think. My wife likes it that way and she talks about them all day, it's that good! It can get expensive but where else can you get service like this, not rushed, get fast service with awesome smiles and they remember you if you're regular! After dining, we usually drop by "San Dimas Grains" next door. Yes, we would definitely come back and support our family owed businesses in San Dimas. Monday October 9/2022 My husbands first time here, and my second time since 2007 Service was a "10" Salad crisp & cold. I couldn't eat the homemade croutons, no big deal. (2) Chicken fried steak was crispy, cooked well. Very HOT! "10" Mashed potatoes OK. My husband had the baked potato, corn was good. NO roll. Why the 4 stars ? The restaurant is so very tired! Entry needs lots of love!!!!!!!!!! The dinning room ; The carpet needs a deep cleaning. The tables & some chairs need to be replaced. There was a smell. Could be the carpet or the old oil. Tables were very clean. Windows spotless. Silverware was clean, plates very clean. Regulars were all pleasant. To our server, You were delightful, so attentive, thanks. Delightful young lady. First, the location is so nice. Old town San Dimas is so quaint. If you're looking for a nice walk after your meal, there's a few shops you can stop into. The food is home style cooking. You can sit at any of the tables you choose or eat at the breakfast bar. If you smell something unfamiliar as you walk in--I think it may be the yeast from their biscuits. It was strange at first, but then when my biscuits and gravy arrived, the scent was explained. Overall it was a nice breakfast with enough food to share. I have been eating at Rudy's restaurant for nearly 20 years. It is as advertised a roadhouse. The food is well prepared quite tasty. The waitresses are all friendly after a while. But the inside decor hasn't changed - it's an old-fashioned old town diner - and the service is always friendly and prompt. Our grandson loved the coffee, and the server's frequent refills. He also liked the huge Country Breakfast. Hubby liked the hash browns that came with his eggs; he liked the biscuits but not their thick gravy, which our grandson liked. I should've known better than to order an omelet made with egg whites - small portions of egg white with small amount of spinach and a tasteless small slice of processed Jack cheese (I requested no cheese but didn't want to ask for a remake). My wife and I came in here, and let me take a second to say that downtown San Dimas reminded me of being in that 80's film "Night of Comet"; seemed very depopulated, but added to the experience in a interesting if not mysterious way because I don't like crowds anyway. So back to the point the ambiance was like walking into a diner back in the 1940's. It's been around a lot longer. I had a Florentine benedict and my wife had the wagon wheel turkey sandwich. I am all for supporting local non chain eateries. But goodness when you pay $43 for two plain waffles. A small piece of chicken breast and a couple of tenders, that's pretty ridiculous! I mean $11 for a plain waffle . Then, when you ask if you can substitute the 3 pieces (leg, wing, and thigh, which are fried, of course) for the breast and wing, well, what do you get a grilled breast. Then, I had to ask several times for different condiments because the server dropped off and left. Frankly, it was my 1st time here and last. My experience was actually not what I have had with local dinners. This was more like an assembly line... I'm very disappointed. Needed to kill some time before my morning appt and feeling puckish, decided to grab some breakfast. What I ate - Country fried steak and eggs: Pretty standard country fried steak and eggs you would expect from a greasy spoon. The steak was thin, but well cooked, crispy, and completely smothered in country gravy. I opted for a side of hash browns, which had the perfect crispy crust and soft fluffy cooked potato interior. Pros: - Pretty standard greasy spoon diner menu with all the great diner hits - Staff was amazingly friendly, cheerful, and sweet. They all seemed to dote on you, even if they weren't taking care of you. Each time a server passed by they'd ask if you needed anything. Went to breakfast here for the first time. The service was nice and it's cute ambience but the food was not good. I ordered a Spanish omelette with try sourdough toast, hashbrowns, and coffee. The hashbrowns were under cooked, and the food was very bland. My Spanish omelette was odd. It came smothered and a weird tomato sauce with undercooked onions. I could taste the tin can from the tomatoes and I shouldn't have eaten it but I ate half of it and got food poisoning. Been spending my Sunday vomiting all day. I am immuno compromised because I have low grade lymphoma, so this is worrisome. This restaurant needs to take food safety more seriously. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

We ended up at this old school diner by accident after two other places had long waits. This is a large place, so there was plenty of seating. Their menu is huge and they serve breakfast all day. I had corned beef hash and eggs with biscuits and gravy. It was just ok. My sister had the country breakfast and she liked it. My other sister had the special chilaquiles, which were actually pre-made tortilla chips. She said it wasn't very authentic. None of our food was salted. We were told this is a popular spot for seniors, especially the early bird dinners. Between the non-descript food and the smell of Pine-Sol, I probably won't go back. Haven't been here in several years. It's really close by so I decided to try again but unfortunately nothing has changed. The food is mediocre at best. Prices are higher. Staff fortunately are mostly the same friendly people. Roady's seems to have a small local following which I guess keeps them in business. The breakfast diners we visit now are much busier and food quality is so much better and affordable. Went in with my family today.. and I must say the service was incredible! Very lively, very fast-moving; It's Fathers Day weekend of course. We were greeted with a warm smile by the cashier who told us to sit wherever we would like. Couple minutes pass and the cashier brings us our menus. I noticed only three waitresses working with the large crowd, needless to say I was very impressed with how quickly they were moving and working to get to their customers quickly. Rachel was our server today, she got us our drinks in a timely manner, she made sure our food order was taken correctly, and she made sure our cups were never empty. When I left our table to go pay for our bill, the cashier was very friendly and personable, starting a small conversation while waiting for my card to process. I was surprised to hear that it was their first day working as a cashier on their own since being hired a couple months ago! There's usually two of them and I was very impressed to see how well they were working on their own with the crowd. However, as I was leaving, I had overheard a woman expressing how disappointed she was with the cashier. I was a bit taken aback by her comment, considering how well the staff was doing given the circumstances. Overall, it was a very welcoming and pleasant atmosphere and we will certainly be returning! If you know the very basics in your own kitchen you can make the breakfast I ate here. Biscuits and gravy was not good at all. Hash browns were barely cooked. Best part was my sprite and sausage. There aren't too many reviews for Roady's since the pandemic hit. I visited in April 2022. I provided some pictures of the current menu because there are no current menus posted online (the newest photos are 2 years old). The food is as good as ever. Roady's is the only restaurant I know that will cook your eggs exactly the way you like them. They have never made a mistake yet. If you ask for over medium, over hard, or sunny side up that is exactly how they come out. The home fries are special. You have to try them. I recommend the breakfast. That is what they are best known for. Their pancakes are tasty. The dough is slightly sweet and made with wheat. They are not bland and doughy like they are everywhere else. You don't have to cover them with tons of syrup in order to make them taste good. The biscuits and gravy are highly recommended. You pretty much can't go wrong with whatever breakfast item you decide to order. Roady's offers better food at a better value than Denny's or IHOP. So why not 5 stars like I rated in the past? I understand it's hard to find good help now and restaurants are suffering from staff shortages. I'm taking that into consideration. That said, I still need to let people know that service is not as warm, friendly, and attentive as it used to be. Our server took our order and dropped off our food. She did not check on us to offer refills or to see how our food was tasting. In the past, Roady's had very sweet ladies like Tweety and the owner's wife (Yup, that's how long I've been coming here haha) that would call you "hon" and make sure you were being taken care of. The current staff doesn't check on you often and aren't particularly warm. If attentive service is important to you, this is something to be aware of. This may change and I'll be happy to update my rating at a later time. I would still recommend coming to Roady's because for a yummy affordable breakfast there really is no better spot. read more

One of my new favorites, especially being so close to where I reside. I've passed this place up many times over the years. I finally gave in as I found they have one of my favorites, chicken fried steak along with biscuits and gravy. To be honest, this was the first time I did not have to add salt and pepper. My wife enjoyed a Spanish omelette and my little girls ate every last bit of their spaghetti. They have good coffee too. I wish I could remember my servers name as she was really good with my terrible "two's" baby. Looking forward to our next meal here. Ooooo, yum yum yum!!!!!!!!!! Haven't had a burger from Roadys in so long. Used to go and sit in the back of the restaurant and study when I was in college. The SAN DIMAS go to diner FOREVER! I have memories as a little girl going for breakfast with dad after his milk route, the local milk man in the 60's, who became much much more then that in the 70's and citizen of the year in 1985. Obviously san dimas OG's, Roadys is a nostalgic place. Haven't been out much for three years because during the shutdown I adopted a rescue and retired. I am with her 24/7 and never leave her home alone. Stopped by Roadys at almost closing time and ordered a Roadys cheese burger to go. Greeted by the biggest sweetheart and last minute order perfectly fine. About my burger. I've had lots of burgers from lots of places that are called burger places.
