I love Roaming Rooster. Whenever someone asks me what my favorite local fried chicken is that is not a massive national chain, I usually say this one. Long ago, when I was working in dc, I remember their food truck being all that they had and I would walk 15 minutes just to get their sandwich. And then they popped up in a food hall nearby, and now they have several locations around the DMV! I love their chicken tenders, but I am obsessed with the honey butter sandwich. And give me all the heat! I can easily handle the hot, but medium is a safer choice for me. And it's Black-owned! I saw on the menu that they have the summer refreshers, so I'm sure those are great. It was hottttt in there, and I'm not talking about the food -- I mean the temperature of the actual store. Uncomfortable from the moment I walked in. On top of that, people were just loitering all over the place, which didn't help the vibe at all. The food was decent, nothing that knocked me off my feet, but it held its own. Now the tea -- the tea was goooood, that part I can't argue with. Being that it's a newer spot, I'll chalk most of this up to growing pangs and give them some grace. I have visited other Roaming Rooster locations but this was my first time visiting the Woodmore location. I went around 12:40 pm on a Monday and found a parking spot quickly, however, the parking spots in this area can fill up quickly. The restaurant was bright and more spacious than I expected. Surprisingly, it wasn't too busy when I went. There was plenty of seating available inside. I ordered an OG Nashville sandwich and fries to go. I spent about $16.40 for the food without a drink which seems a bit pricey but honestly, I think that's pretty much normal these days. There was about a 15 minute wait for the food which was fine. They have a great music selection playing as you wait. As expected, the sandwich was delicious. The fries are like that Five Guys style and I forget that every single time I go to a Roaming Rooster. I personally am not a huge fan of that style of fry but you get an insane amount. Overall, I had a good experience. The customer service was great, the sandwich was fire, and it was quick. While they forgot my pickles lol, I'm not mad enough to skip a good review. Lord knows I love my pickles, but this chicken! So good. I haven't been to the physical location since I ordered through a delivery app, so I can't speak to the in-person service or environment. What I can say is that I was really impressed by how crispy the chicken was and how amazing it tasted. The fries were low-key a miss, but I'll give them another shot when I go in person. I was happy to see a new restaurant in Woodmore, and have been excited to give them a try. I ordered 3 whole wings with a side of fries. The wings came with a slice of bread, and a few pickle slices. I have to say, I was pretty disappointed with the wings. While they had a nice crunch and were cooked perfectly, they lacked flavor. The fries were good taste wise, but extremely oily and all the pieces were tiny. I maybe had 5 pieces that were normal fry length and not tiny bits. I'd probably visit again to give the chicken sandwiches a try. Service was good. The person at the register was kind and attentive. I did ask a question about the rooster sauce, and she had no idea what the sauce was like (mild, spicy, sweet...), but gave me a sauce to try with my meal. Was excited to see this place finally opened and decided to venture over for dinner after working late tonight. I should've given it some time before venturing over. The wait time for my food was insane. I was quoted 20 minutes and figured ok- that's not so bad. So I went ahead and placed my order, which was a Chicken Club spicy, Veggie Roo mild and an order of fries. Mind you the lobby and dining area was full of patrons also WAITING...but I said to myself, "the cashier said 15-20 mins so it can't be that bad." About 40 mins in- honestly I wanted to just cancel the order and go home! The store was clean...brand new...I mean today was really the second day of being open... When I finally received my food- my fries were soggy and drenched in oil...was very disappointed in that. My Oyster Mushroom Veggie sandwich was pretty tasty. I asked for mild, however it was really spicy & the chicken club, that was for my husband. I'm sure we'll venture back over eventually. Got takeout for the family as we were passing by Woodmoore Town Center. The online ordering was easy. Our order was ready just when they said. The staff was friendly. Our daughters (9 and 11) really enjoyed the chicken tenders and fries (they are chicken tender and french fry connoisseurs). My Chicken Club (medium heat) was great. What in the absolutely amazing chicken sandwich is this! It was my first time visiting but I have no clue how, I've been hearing about this place for years but I guess I was never close to one until now. When I say hands down the best chicken sandwich. The customer service was great, I couldn't decide on what sandwich to get buy they explained it to me and a guy that works there sealed the deal and said, "Butter Chicken" and that was the best decision.
