The place has enough seating to dine-in and the young lady that took my order was very pleasant. I ordered the medium heat chicken sandwich which has a vinegar based slaw on top and a side of fries. The sandwich was cooked fresh and had lots of meat. It was very crisp and the medium heat was not as hot as I like. But I was playing it safe. Although it was good, I felt it lacked flavor. It needed a bit more seasonings. I feel a creamy slaw or some mayo or sauce of some kind would had made my experience more enjoyable. Overall 3.5 stars. I'd go back if in the area but don't think I'd make a special trip. However, if I did it would be for a different sandwich...either the Nashville Hot or the one with honey butter. read more

Some of the employees were really rude to my brother a few months ago and embarrassed him in front of a huge line of customers by saying he was lying about not getting the fries he ordered (he later showed them the receipt and they didn't even apologize). Holy heaven on a bun! Our visit was during the pandemic, so ordering was exclusively online/advance or walk up to the window. We did the online ordering option, which was very easy to navigate. When we picked up our order, the wait was a little longer than expected given the time we were quoted, but not a huge deal. Customers were asked to wear masks and space while waiting outside, which most did (also plenty of room to move further out as comfort dictates). The chicken is lightly breaded almost like catfish and seasoned well, then they go the extra mile with the honey butter sauce or whatever flavor you choose. The sandwich is huge, you can ask for an extra bun and now you legit have enough chicken for two sandwiches. The hand-cut fries always taste fresh and they give you plenty. Some of the reviews say the service is slow and it takes time to get your food, I have been in twice and have been served promptly both times. Very personable as well. This chicken sandwich spot very well could be one of the top fried chicken sandwich shops in the DMV. Prior to this year all of my experience with this restaurant has been with their food truck which used to pull up in SW DC, serving the government offices in the area near the National Mall. I never had a bad experience at the food truck and actually I miss the food truck experience. The chicken sandwiches were always hot and fresh. This year I became a repeat customer for their breakfast biscuit sandwiches. I wanted to get in a few visits before giving it a 4 star and thankfully they've been consistent every time. Their biscuits are very thick and dense which is how I like my biscuit sandwiches. It makes for a very sturdy base to hold together eggs and meat. You'll notice with other biscuit sandwiches that they fall apart, crumble and can't hold the egg, meat or toppings because the biscuit is too thin and not thick or dense enough to withstand. Roaming Rooster clicks on all cylinders with their breakfast sandwich. I've tried the bacon and chicken varieties. They've also been very open to accommodating my request for fried egg. My only wish is that they'd offer a cheese other than yellow cheddar. It's still a good sandwich however white cheddar or white American would suit this breakfast sandwich so much better in the flavor category. Overall a very good breakfast sandwich. This spot deserves all the hype and attention it gets! For starters, it's hard to simply pick one sandwich because they all sound amazing. My girlfriend and I decided to try it out (our first time) and the sandwiches did not disappoint. I got the Nashville Hot and the honey butter. The spicy level of the hot was enough that you felt the heat, but addictive to the point that you kept coming back for another bite. The honey butter was also great, the addition of the cheese was strange to me (so next time I'll probably remove it). My girlfriend thought her sandwich was overall good. She did highlight that she wished the sandwich was a bit "more juicy" but loved the nice kick that the jalapeño spice brought for the medium heat level.
