Too lazy to cook and on the mood for NY style pizza, we took to Door Dash for this one. It's so hard to find really good NY style pies in the area. It's kind of hit or miss. Well, we were really surprised with this one! Ordered a large with extra cheese and half pepperoni. This place knows how to do extra cheese! The crust was super flavorful and was definitely foldable. We were also fans of the sauce - not too sweet like lots of places do. We rounded out the meal with a side salad and a side Caesar. Both were super fresh and while the dressings didn't taste homemade, they were still flavorful. We'll definitely be ordering from here again! read more

The service was great but don't expect the slice option at night as they only had one slice left, had to order a whole pizza. They did give us free garlic knots though which were fresh, hot and delicious. The pizza was good, but needed salt. The server was very friendly and helpful bringing out all the shakers from Parmesan , garlic, oregano and peppers to our table. Plenty of seating at night. We usually do pizza delivery the first night my son & grandson come to visit. Since I had Instacart food delivery credits that would expire soon, I chose this Sal's rather than my usual location close to home since it was an Instacart choice. Now let me preface this with the fact that there are LOTS of pizzerias in the area called Sal's. And I don't think they share ownership. Possibly many take their name from the popular Sal's on Pleasure House Road that burned & never recovered, having lost their staff to a new closely located Sal's. So a Sal's is not alway's a Sal's. :). Not recognizing the address, I looked closer in the Yelp map. The location is Princess Ann Road in the first shopping center on the east side of the road after turning on PA from Newtown Road. The cross street is Parliament. The location must be new since I own rental property in the area and have never noticed it. The pizza was good. But having spent a lot of time in Brooklyn, I consider (with a few exceptions) that there is no pizza but true NY style. This pizza wasn't exactly that. We chose my Grandson's favorite Margarita Pie & my choice, Margarita Pie with black olives & mushroom. The two 14 inch pizzas were ample for the four of us. But the pizzas were definitely not foldable. And the crust rim around the pizza was thicker & didn't have the crunchy edge that I sometimes have to eat before sharing with the dogs who love and beg for pizza crust. But that said, the pizza wasn't bad. Part of the Margarita top had slid off onto the box. I've never seen that in a pizza delivery before and I've ordered many. I don't know if it was the fault of the delivery driver or the pizzeria. The menu was more varied than other Sal's, which. though unaffiliated, all seem identical. You'll find additions of Greek items rather than just the normal Italian fare. In the future I'll probably just stick with my standard Sal's for a true NY pizza. But those of you who aren't addicted to the style should give it a try. read more

Sal's NY Slice Pizzeria at 5604 Princess Anne Rd It was early Sunday in the afternoon and this pizza place caught my eye while driving by. I figured why not get a pizza slice. I was welcomed with a clean and neat interior with simple chairs and tables with blue, well designed, covers and a friendly woman working the register. After asking for a menu, I saw they offered a lot more than your popular Italian pie. So, I didn't ask for a slice. I got the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and broccoli instead. My salad that it came with was fresh complete with red onions, green peppers, croutons, and crisp lettuce which was not at all soggy. Of course, I had to have ranch with it. The Alfredo pasta was almost authentically perfect with the sauce made from parmesan according to the nice woman. I added more parmesan from the shaker which contributed a more powdered texture to my meal. The sauce was rich and creamy. The shrimp was tender and the broccoli added a soft crunch. I liked it! You can tell the meal had this homemade charm and it tasted like it. It was quite good! The soft bread was delicious with a punch of garlic and butter but not too overwhelming. It was not brittle or dry and it was tasty! Overall, a nice charming takeout or sit down place where you can enjoy a delightful meal guaranteed to leave you full! read more

I smelled the pizza from the street before I walked in, I saw a line of people grabbing to go giant boxes of pizza and folks filling up the dining room. The menu is robust so I will say up front I will return, my slices were HOT with a little crisp to them unlike some places they don't charge tour for parmesean, oregano, red flakes, etc. read more

I stopped by Sal's for a couple slices of pizza. They're a newer location in the area. So i had to check them out. I was greeted as soon as i walked in. I got 2 slices of pizza which cost about $8. Their menu is pretty large with a good selection. They have a dine in area inside with a tv to watch.. There's also one of those stuffed animal grab games to keep you entertained while waiting.. Its clean inside... The pizza took about 10 minutes, which wasn't bad... They also have delivery for a $3 fee within a certain radius. Which isn't to bad. The pizza was hot and fresh, but the crust didn't really have any flavor. If you can get over that, its decent pizza. I'll probably ask for extra sauce next time also. But it was good sized slices. I'll probably try a sub or something in the future.. The staff is friendly and the location is pretty easy to get to. There's plenty of parking out front. Check them out!! 3.5 stars!! read more

only thing that I got to say about Sal's pizza place is that they overcook their wings hard hard hard. I think the pizza are a little overcooked when you leave something in the oven and your crust is hard and it's just not enjoyable. I think they could do a little bit better read more

Service was horrible. I go here at least 2 times a week for lunch however will never go again. I tried ordering a pizza over the phone with 3 toppings and the lady repeated it twice wrong. She was very rude and would not give her name and when I called back to get someone else to take my simple order it went to voicemail twice. I've been here twice so far to test the food. I had the pizza, a freshly made pie. It had a thicker crust than a real NY Pizza does. It was not crispy but done, so again not like NY Pizza "Brooklyn Style." While the owner is from Brooklyn like I am, the pizza is almost as far away from Brooklyn Style as the owner and I are from Brooklyn right now here in VA Beach. Tonight I tried the wings, they were good. I'd get them again. The lasagna however is good but way too greasy. The grease is from the chop meat inside. It would be much better without the grease and the meat from which it comes. The garlic bread that comes with the lasagna is flavorful and very good but like the lasagna, way too greasy. The meatballs are okay. Nothing special, they lack taste. They are firm and just okay. No herbs or anything I can see or taste are in the meatballs.The tomato sauce they came in was water with a tiny bit of sauce, a really tiny bit. Had the sauce been less water and more tomato sauce, thicker, it would likely be flavorful and overcome the lack of taste in the meatballs themselves. As I understand the scenario, this establishment opened about two months ago but the owner has lots of experience in Brooklyn and while not Italian, he learned the trade from Italians in Brooklyn. He was part owner of another pizza place in VA Beach not far from this location but came upon hard times in the partnership, leading him to open this business. I am sorry about the business situation and challenge but I think with a couple of changes (for example, getting rid of the grease/meat, adding more flavor to the meatballs including parsley, maybe onion and garlic, and serving them in a thicker sauce with a good flavor profile) the food will be more attractive and easier on the stomach. That will help "win the battle" over the "other Sal's pizza place." I gave 4 stars, 1 more than I would have otherwise given, because I feel for the plight of the owner who is building this business and hopefully beat the former partners he had a falling out with. We were visiting for the weekend and wanted to get a bite to eat. We found this place near our hotel. We asked the cashier what she suggests and she was so helpful!! We got a combo with onion rings and a slice of pizza! It was so delicious. I definitely would go again when I'm in town! read more

Ordered one of their specials online: pizza, appetizer, drink, and said came with salad. Placed order for specific pick up time. Got to the restaurant and they never received the online order. Was told it was going to be 15 mins and they would expedite our order. It ended up being 45 mins from the time we got there until we left with our food. Once the order was ready, noticed we didn't have our salad. They said since the salad didn't print on the kitchen receipt they couldn't give it to us. When we showed them what we ordered from their website and what we paid for, we still didn't get our salad. After all that, I just wish the pizza would have been better. read more

We ordered a 14" pepperoni and an 18" cheese pizza on a busy Friday for pick up and had quick trunk around time. Uh, that alone was a huge perk. Anyway... Great sauce that relies on the natural flavor of the tomatoes. It was light without being watery, flavorful, not salty or over seasoned. Excellent crust, tender inside, lightly crispy outside not greased, or cornmealed; simply floured. An excellent NY/brooklyn style pizza with HUGE slices! Mmm foldable pizza. Both pizzas had the perfect ratio of cheese & sauce, the pepperoni wasn't puddled with grease & there wasn't any dripping grease. The cheese also wasn't dripping in grease or over sauced. They were just friggin' good pizzas! This is our new neighborhood joint. It's better than the closest competitor or another location with a similar name that's closer to Footers, which we don't like bc ew. Like so many reasons, ew. The staff was incredibly friendly, good natured & have great customer service. Will update next week with a picture. read more

We've never been to the physical location but has become our go to pizza joint unless money is tight. We order our weekly pizza from them 90% of the time. You get crispy crust! Cheese pizza is good, Bianca pizzas are good. Fried mushrooms and zeopoles are amazing too! The staff has always been very courteous. Only issue we've ever had is deliveries taking longer than expected, but that's normal anywhere now a days unfortunately. We even had a manager go back to the store to deliver our pizza after close because they were running behind. They've always gone the extra mile. Highly recommend if you are looking for a regular local pizza joint to support. Better than YNOT and easier on the wallet. read more
