I decided to try Robeks today since I was in the shopping center. I've seen these "skip the line" ordering tablets before and decided to have a look while I waited in line. It was immediately clear they're using facial recognition technology. Even though I've never been in that store before, it said, "Welcome back! We think you'll like these..." and at the bottom of the screen, it reads, "To personalize your menu we try to identify you. Opt-Out Here." I asked the staff and was told the tablet does indeed have a camera--so I walked out. They make the opt out so tiny, so one's going to see it. They'll later sell your face data or try to sell you more stuff. No no no. I don't want to live in Minority Report and you shouldn't either. This is not OK. I'll opt out by not even going into Robeks again. We don't have to live like this. read more

A smoothie franchise that was founded in 1996 and is similar to Jamba Juice and Nékter in terms of smoothies and açaí bowls. The Pasadena location is in a plaza near a supermarket and offers residents a quick, healthy option during the day. I ordered the Strawnana Berry and an Everything Avocado Toast. It was all prepared within 10 minutes. The consistency of the smoothie was slightly thicker due to the frozen yogurt base. This was different compared to other places that use a milk base/ other ingredients. The frozen yogurt and apple juice dilutes the taste of the banana and strawberry. For the Avocado Toast, the Himalayan salt balances the flavor of the avocado. The sizes of the toppings (both tomatoes and avocados), I found were too big to eat. After a few bites, they kept falling off the toast (it still was satisfying in terms of what I expected). Note: They have an app that advertises $5 which is really split between $3 and $2 ($3 for signing up on the app and the other portion will be rewarded after your first visit). I ordered my favorite the "evergreen" juice and it was very refreshing. This place has a great atmosphere with nice lighting. You can order drinks at the kiosk or register. All the staff is kind, especially Justin. He was professional and made sure my drink was perfect. The staff here are always super friendly, particularly a guy who's probably around 35-40 and answers all questions and is very helpful. The menu options have stuff for everyone and the app is helpful, there's some tasty seasonal options and categories for lots of types of drink desires. The only improvement areas are it is super noisy inside with the drink making, and also I wish one of these smoothie places had actually healthy drinks, because when you check ingredients online the sugar is through the roof for here and Jamba Juice. Nah. This ain't it. I've had acai bowls from a lot of places, Açaí joint holds the number one slot. This place wasn't bad. Just not for me. My party and I enjoyed our bowls and smoothie. Made an online order for my aunt who was having digestion issues and really wanted a shake and was grateful for being able to have Robeks as an option on a Sunday night. The main highlight of this review is to give Sophia or Sofia (spell check) a shoutout as I had three great interactions with her over the phone. Her customer service is something that made my transaction so smooth. She was attentive, patient and just overall kind through every conversation. Thank you so much for that! I ordered my aunt two drinks to choose from and drink throughout the evening. She loved both of them. The strawberry date shake was her favorite out of the two. I know it's a seasonal drink so check if they have it before you order it- but the big wednesday was delicious as well. Fresh fruits and juices make it so much more refreshing knowing it's natural sugars. She wants to try the others too! I'm actually surprised there are not that many people coming to get smoothies/ cold beverage. Especially since it's summer. Maybe because this location is fairly new new! I'm so excited they finally opened up. Ive been waiting for this bad boy to open. The staff here are great! They're sweet and outgoing. Inside is very clean. Robeks just opened in the Orangewood Shopping Center. It was actually my first time in a Robeks even though they have many locations in Southern California. The menu consists mostly of smoothies. They also have juices, acai and smoothie bowls, wellness shots, and toasts. You can add supplements to smoothies, juices or bowls. Evergreen juice (Medium, 16 oz, $9.79) with kale, cucumber, celery, spinach, apple, lemon. The juice was made to order. You can also specify whether you want ice in it or not (most juice places do not add ice to juices). I was in the mood for a green juice and Evergreen did not have enough greens in it. It was sweet and didn't have much flavor - mostly tasted like apple and celery. It seemed watered down? They have a rewards program. The shop looked nice - newly remodeled. This has been a great addition to the area. I live nearby and often grab a smoothie and a delicious avocado toast when I go to the Vons next door. I've probably been there about 20 times and everything has been great. I am obsessed with the watermelon smoothie (seasonal) and the classic avocado toast. I have been to this location on two separate occasions and was disappointed each time. When I entered the location, not only was I not greeted but also not even acknowledged. I waited for someone to ask if I needed assistance or offer to take my order. Fortunately for me, I placed an online order and was simply there to pick up my smoothie(s). On each day, at least one of the three or four employees saw me standing there and still I waited. It is important to note that I was either the only customer in the store, or there was one customer ahead of me who subsequently left, yet I was still left waiting for an acknowledgement. During yesterday's visit, I had to get the attention of an employee standing at the register, provide my name, and ask if my order was ready. I do not need to return a third time to see if history will repeat itself, and will take my business to another Robek's location. I have been a Robek's fan for many years. This experience was very disappointing and disheartening. I leave two stars because despite the poor customer service, the smoothie was acceptable. read more

The food and drinks here are consistent with most Robek's. I love the avocado toast here and have come here three times over the last two months to get it. The facilities are clean. The food looks top quality, and the menus are good. Each time I come in, service is bad. It is not that they don't get the stuff out in time, but that they simply have an attitude about it. Some of the clerks act like they don't like customers. They hate making eye contact and appear like they are above working. They don't say 'thank you.' They don't want the business. There has been a "help wanted" sign here for months but always have at least 3 staff members inside standing around. Today was no exception, the clerk who finally came to serve me was prompted by her coworker to do her job. She did not make eye contact. Today, I accidentally dropped my avocado toast. It was totally my fault. As I saw it hit the floor, I turned and looked at the Robek staff and saw one burst out laughing and then turn her head so that one of her coworkers could see her laughing but that I couldn't. I was disgusted. After I threw it away in the trash, another clerk reluctantly said, "I can make you another one." It was said with the enthusiasm of someone asking for an enema. I didn't want one as I felt like it was not worth it. We all make mistakes. Accidents happen. Laughing at people they happen to instead of offering to be helpful is not a place ANYONE would want to be. What was a simple accident became a form of humiliation by the staff. Not all of the staff were laughing but enough to know I was the weirdo in that culture. I made the mistake. The staff treated it like I was a problem or a joke. Over dropping a piece of avocado toast. I now know why there is always a 'help wanted' sign. Who would want to work with people who are so rude? read more
