This Pasadena Starbucks location (Lake and California) is a great spot for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, the entire staff are incredible warm, welcoming, super friendly and efficient. Secondly, there is a lot of communal and smaller tables and chairs inside, along with some people-watching seats and umbrellas for shade outside. Third, the coffee is always brewed fresh and in small batches, based on customer demand. I have always had a good Starbucks coffee here that was a great temperature. Fourth, plenty of parking in the adjacent Pavilions lot, along with free structure parking a short walk away on Lake for other retail. My husband and I stopped by on Sunday, 2/5/2023 right before 3:00 PM for an afternoon pick me up and also because quite a few Starbucks in the area were closed earlier on Sunday. The store was rather empty and there were a couple tables that people were using to study. There is a standard long table right in front of the counter with wireless chargers. I had placed a mobile order before and by the time we headed to the store, it was ready for pickup. I had gotten a slightly more complicated order since I was redeeming my bday drink :) I got the following: Trenta Strawberry Acid Refresher Light ice, strawberry puree, add peach juice, 2 scoops mango dragon fruit, blended. -pretty good, I've never tried this before and usually got coffee drinks. My husband said it kind of tasted like a sweet fruity starburst. If you get this, get it with more ice and water cus it was kinda thicc lol. It's hard to write a review for Starbucks as they are those who love Starbucks and those who don't. I like Starbucks for their convenience, choices and quick service. I stopped by this Starbucks on the corner of Lake Ave and California Blvd last weekend. I got a hot latte ($4.95). The coffee was made fast and tasted good. They still had their holiday menu displayed as well as some holiday merchandise. The only thing I didn't like and took a star off is cleanliness. I went here for my free birthday drink and the service was great. I've never actually gotten a free drink for my birthday, so the cashier explained that he only needed to scan my app and the drink was made right away. This is a great Starbucks, it is super well maintained and very clean. Their restrooms are super clean as well and they have an efficient and sleek design for such a small sized store. The staff are polite and respectful, and the lines are never crowded. The baristas are very fast at taking and making your order, and they are very efficient. This location does not allow customers to use the power outlets. In fact, they have turned them off. When a customer asked the staff about them, they actually said, "they are not available... to all customers." I was sitting next to an outlet, plugged my charger in (to both top and bottom), and no power came through. This is not a good place to do work. read more

Starbucks is a chain so you can't really judge the place by its product but by its service, and by service, I give this place a 2 -- Meh. I've experienced better. Conveniently located at a corner lot on California and Lake, and free parking at the Pavilion. It's one of the few Starbucks in Pasadena that doesn't have a long line early in the morning so the drinks come out quick. Unfortunately, my chocolate swirl loaf was still sealed in the plastic wrap when they gave it to me, and my cappuccino ended up being a latte, filled with milk. Thank goodness they got the non-fat milk right. I would understand the lack of effort if they were busy and the line was long, but considering how the place was half empty at 7am, it would have been nice if they took out the plastic wrap and made my cappuccino right. Just a thought. Service was ok. Maybe it was a bit too early for them, but I've been to many Starbucks earlier than 7am in Pasadena, where the people have been super friendly and nice. Coincidentally, my Starbucks app popped up on my phone while I was standing right next to this Starbucks location. I opened the notification and it took me to the new Impossible Sausage Sandwich. It looked really good in the picture. It's a vegetarian sandwich with the Impossible Sausage, egg, cheddar cheese, in a sesame ciabatta bread. I ordered it on the app and it was ready within 5 minutes. I walked into the store and was greeted immediately. The employees there were on it! They both had their masks on. They were multitasking as they were cleaning, putting things away, and already had several orders ready. I saw that they had just recently cleaned the long table in the middle. The store looked very clean in general. They thanked me as I left the store. I took out the sandwich and obviously it did not look like the sandwich in the picture. The impossible sausage itself was good, but I was not a fan of the bread. I think I am just so used to a breakfast sandwich having with in croissant or biscuit. I've lived here now for almost 2 years and this Starbucks has always been very welcoming. The baristas are always very nice and accommodating and the shop usually attracts very nice customers as well. The environment is pretty relaxing and nice to settle down in to do some studying or get togethers as there are a lot of seats and tables in this particular Starbucks as opposed to most. I don't take pictures often so the coffee pictures are menu items of the past, however I still rate their present drinks highly at this location and will still continue to visit. I recommend the vanilla sweet cream cold brew and/or the salted caramel cold foam cold brew! :) read more

I've always meant to try one of the reserve blends, and yesterday that dream became a reality. I had the best barista I've had at ANY coffee house (let alone any Starbucks) bring all the different reserve blends over, get feedback on what I liked, and gave a recommendation. They know most of the customers by name already and make conversation while you wait for your drink.
