These types of reviews I hate leaving but it's a must for the community and future customers to look out for. Unfortunately this is the 4th different time going to this Roberto's and EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY MESS UP MY ORDER!! it's really frustrating this isn't rock science. I ordered a simple CARNE ASADA BURRITO PLAIN JUST GUAC SOUR CREAM AND CHEESE AND THEN A CALI BURRITO NO PICO ADD SOUR CREAM AND GUAC. The carne asada burrito was for my pregnant wife.. anyone that has delr with a hungry pregnant woman knows how bad this can be. For starters the cashier repeated my order right but then I get home cut the burrito and there's no Guacamole on the carne asada burrito and on the Cali they didn't put sour cream. I check the receipt and the cashier didn't add guacamole to the order when she clearly repeated my order back to me twice how it was suppose to be. Funny thing is right before I paid I joked around telling the cashier I hope you guys don't mess up my order like you normally do and she said we have new cooks and they're doing good... GOOD AT STILL MESSING UP PEOPLES ORDER. I never had any problems with this spot, on the contrary, I always recommend coming here because it's still one of the few spots in SD with reasonable taco-shop prices and the food is ( should I say WAS) pretty good. HOWEVER, Today I asked for a cali burrito but switch carne asada to adobada, and a combo plate which was the beef taco and carne asada burrito. The lady had the nastiest attitude. I understand it's a high stress environment, but there was literally no one behind me and there was no need to be rude, she slammed the window on me as well when i gave her my card. I was like ok, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and hopefully the food compensates for the rudeness (lol) I was wrong. I was given Burnt ass fries and they tasted stale. This is the best Roberto's in San Diego! I believe this may be the original store too. They have the best shredded beef burrito in town. Other good items on the menu are the rolled tacos, shredded beef tacos, all other burritos (carnitas, adobada, carne asada), and their combo plates. All of them are good portions, and delicious. It's 2:15am on Wednesday 5/24 and we just left Roberto's taco shop after being refused service. We waited for 5 minutes at the speaker and finally drove around to the window when we saw a man walk out of the lobby. As we pulled up to the window he came back in and walked to the back but never came to help us. After 5 more minutes my boyfriend went inside the building. We were told by the man inside that the cooks closed the kitchen. There was a man standing there as well 2 people in the back playing cards or something. My boyfriend told them they're supposed to be open 24 hours and the gentleman said they were closed and refused to take our order. He was loading a bag of food for himself though. This place always hits the spot, I've been coming here for years and it's always been consistent. I have yet to have a bad experience. Ive tried almost everything on the menu , but my go to is always the Cali burrito, rolled tacos or hard tacos. On this particular visit we stopped in on the way back to Bakersfield , I haven't been here since the pandemic started so I didn't know what to expect . Everything was clean inside as usual and there was two open tables , with the rest being taped off due to social distancing. We opted to sit outside it was a beautiful morning with nice weather, why not? I had my usual Cali burrito , the family had rolled tacos and carne asada quesadillas . At Roberto's I always go with the green salsa it adds that tart flavor that sets off the burrito. The red salsa here is good as well , but the green is fire. On this visit they didn't have the fresh jalapeños which was kinda of disappointing but it was ok I didn't need them. There food is always fresh and there they don't play skimpy on the meat or cheese. I can't believe Im barely getting around to reviewing this spot , but better late then never.
