I've been to Robke's a few times now for lunch and each time I enjoyed the food and experience very much. I have tried many different things on their menu and I have been very happy with almost everything that I have tried. the only menu item that I thought was a little lacking was their steak sandwich. I tried a menu item that was like a shrimp marsala with cheese on top of it and it was excellent. I highly recommend this place. The music can be a little loud and the place has been packed every time I dined there. The servers are all on point. I follow them on social media and they do a great job keeping up with that. read more

We finally had an opportunity to try Robke's after many years, and it may be a one time experience. First, if you dont want to wait long, you should come for lunch or by 4:30-5pm, otherwise it could be a very long wait. This place is PACKED. Tables are so close to each other, no room to walk around and it is so loud. The service was meh, felt very robotic, no personality. For an appetizer we had the baked clams which were very tiny and not worth the price. The entrees are what made the visit for us. Mac and cheese with chicken cutlet, pork chop martini and chicken milanese - all phenomenal. It's a kind of a "try it once to say you did" type of place. If you are wondering whether Robke's lives up to the hype or not... it totally does! Parking here is hard and the restaurant isn't huge but you can tell a lot of their customers are consistent so you get that true Italian family vibe here. The food is incredible and their drinks are strong. We came here for my birthday and it was a great decision. I got a Cosmo and it was great! We had fried calamari and spicy shrimp for apps. They were both so well executed- the fried calamari was light and perfectly fried while the spicy shrimp had the perfect kick. I ordered the Bronx style chicken parm. It comes in a vodka sauce with peppers so it has the perfect cook and is so flavorful. It comes with a side of rigatoni ala vodka. My boyfriend had the ravioli and he loved it! My mom had one of their specials which came with risotto, asparagus, shrimp and scallops. She loved it. The service here is fast and friendly. I wish I caught our servers name but he was great. We had a fantastic lunch here! The food is delicious and the portions are extremely generous. They don't take reservations so we decided to go during the week so have less of a wait and we were seated right away. We ordered then spicy shrimp which was pretty good, the fried calamari, cooked perfectly! For entrees we got the baked lasagna, the Bronx chicken cutlets (this was my favorite, had a little spicy to it but it was the perfect amount). My brother got the shrimp bruno and I also really enjoyed it. Service was pretty good, the guys are super attentive. CASH ONLY at this establishment. Had to fight my way through the bar to take out money from their ATM which was right next a person eating. I felt like I was sitting in their lap as I was trying to make a transaction. Please start taking credit cards. The parking was atrocious, you basically have to park across the street at the supermarket and try not to get run over crossing the road. The shrimp cocktail was good, however, there could have been more on the plate. The mac n cheese was very good for the kids. One of the best we've ever had. The sole francaise was excellent and they let us add shrimp from the lunch special menu for a slight additional cost. Fresh sauteed spinach was very good. Side of linguine with francaise sauce was $12, but it was good and needed. Artichoke oreganata was pretty darn good. Halibut Oregenata with mushroom risotto was insanely good, probably the best I've ever had. These chefs know what they're doing. The server Matt was very friendly and helpful. Robke's -- I'm impressed with your advertising, your Instagram ads definitely got me through the door. But that's pretty much all I was impressed by during my meal. The pros: the servings are massive, the menu has a nice range of hearty Italian meals. Servers were pretty good as well! The cons: everything else. The food was a rare combination of both heavy and bland. Fried mozzarella was nothing noteworthy, and The Robke's Mac and Cheese Chicken dish (not pictured) literally had oil pooling in one corner, before anyone placed a fork into it. Not a great start. The penne a la vodka was so bland, it tasted like overcooked pasta with breaded chicken on top. The vodka sauce was forgettable, and the cutlet had zero taste. The chicken parmigiana was the only decent entree of the lot, the pasta sauce had a nice little kick of spice to go with a nice, cheesy chicken cutlet. Food aside, the environment was a negative -- $30+ entrees, yet the busboys would take dishes without asking first, and would place dirty utensils back on the white tablecloth, tomato sauce and all, as a nice way to tempt you into getting sauce on your clothes. And yes, as other reviews noted, this place is LOUD. The ambient noise makes conversation a challenge, and the owner thinks that shouting is the only way to communicate. Yikes. Arrived at 2:30 pm. Our Waiter told us Lunch was over. Lunch was still ongoing but he gave us Dinner Menus. Appetizer of Pan Fried Meatballs took almost an hour to Arrive. They were Greasy and Dried out. Another 30 min later the Main Course Arrived. I had the Steak Sandwich which was not good. My wife had the Penne Mia and it was tasteless. After striking out at a few too many "wannabe" spots around Northport, I was just desparate for an old school, great plate of simple pasta. My wife and decided to go back to an old standby tonight--Robke's--since it had been awhile, yet it absolutely delivered. No question, the real deal. Yes, it's crowded. Sure, there's hype. But here, it's earned. We split a Caesar salad--fresh, crisp, exactly right. Then we both ordered the pappardelle Bolognese, and it was outstanding. Rich, slow-cooked sauce, perfectly done pasta--no shortcuts. First bite in and I had a full-on "Talladega Nights" Ricky Bobby moment, thanking "Dear 8 lb 6 oz newborn infant Jesus..."--that kind of good. Visited here on a weeknight and was able to get a seat outside right away. We are not from the area but have been seeing this restaurant on social media more so we took a 35 min drive. Con: the parking. There's like 8 spots in their lot. And then there's shopping centers around that have signs don't park in there. We were also under the impression it was a bit fancier but it's actually super casual. Food: we started with baked clams and fried calamari. Both were good, fried calamari had a light breading but crispy and baked clams had a good dipping sauce. Entrees we shared- spicy pork chop (not thin which we prefer but had a good kick and taste), spicy pasta in a red sauce/vodka sauce with peppers (good but our least favorite) and rigatoni vodka with cutlet (our favorite). Dessert we did rainbow cookie cheesecake with espresso martinis and we'd come back just for this course! This was truly a social media experience, I never would have known about Robke's until I saw the videos explaining how I must try, pretty much everything! I follow the "Laitalianprincess" on Instagram. She's usually munchin' on Italian specialty sandwiches and spending time with her Nonna. She posted a clip about her visit to Robke's in Northport. I have a free night tonight and I'm craving a good meal. I have lots of great restaurants within my 5 mile radius, I decided to drive to Northport and try something new. First off, parking? Suckks. I had to park in the supermarket parking lot. Another Pro Tip: Robke's is cash only! It's Wednesday and the bar is slammed. The waiter says he has a table for me, not to worry. Once seated, the specials are on the chalkboard. I'm thinking about the fettuccine the Laitalianprincess ordered but blackened skirt steak is calling me. I ordered a Ketel One Vodka Martini and the Blackened Skirt Steak. The restaurant is tight and all tables have seated patrons. On a Wednesday night? Buona fortuna! I'm sippin' my Martini and just enjoying the vibe. I see lots of people are enjoying this neighborhood joint. The table next to me, a woman ordered a huge Veal Parmesan that also came with spaghetti. Not huge, Yuge! My steak comes out quickly. The charr on the skirt steak is really good, the cook on the meat is perfect. It was a nice size portion that I was able to finish. I forgot to grab cash so I had to use the ATM by the bar. I see Louie from the videos and he asked me if everything is ok. I arrived at 11:45 after hunting for somewhere to park note that there's a daily $15.95 lunch deal every day the place is packed I get to pickup in the chaos of this restaurant to be told it will be a few minutes right up. 1 1/2hrs later still smashed in the chaos because you can't even move to leave my order is still not ready obviously the order was misplaced which I understand it is chaotic with no system in there but be honest own up to it catering is full price I do realize the lunch deal for an entree is very appealing but the noise decibel, the seating and rude service outweighs going there. Staple in the area for a reason. Classic, family run, popular Italian spot. The food is fantastic and there are so many options - always a good looking special. Service is quick but good and attentive, the place is always packed so most of the staff is running around but a well oiled machine. First off there's no sign that says, takes only cash. Then when I went to hand him my card he told me cash only, and that the ATM machine was right over there. A very nice ATM machine. Do you realize the money they make when you use the ATM, but luckily I had the money for the bill. I don't use ATM's only the ones at my bank. Then the bill came and it wasn't itemized. And it seemed higher than it should have been. But what got me was the fact that I was having a nice time with my friend and we were told we had to leave becasue people were waiting for the table. So basically, all you all allowed to do is eat and then you have to leave. And tables are right on top of each other. And the parking is the worst. Eager to finally get to Robke's after so much fanfare here on YELP and constantly on a dine Long Island Facebook page. Did not meet the expectations for me. Service was just okay, 2 members of our party of 7 have diet restrictions and were seeking reassurance that there were gluten free options. Our server seemed more put out than helpful. One member asked for the chicken parm with vodka sauce and no peppers, was steered to a dish that ended up to be twice the lunch price and was essentially the same dish as the lunch special (without the peppers). My blood orange Negroni good but serfed more like a brunch drink than the classic cocktail it is. Either take reservations or don't! Don't be flip floppy and seat walks ins before your reservations are taken care of! There was absolutely no rhyme or rhythm to how people were seated as I was probably the first one to come for my "reservation" and last to be seated (and told the kitchen was closing as I sat down). Don't half a*$ service (had to ask for water 3x) to get turn around on your tables to generate revenue (or be HONEST and tell your customers there's a max of 2 hour when seated). Would've been more appreciative and thankful to be told the truth instead of being strung along so my family and I could enjoy a meal together. The place was cute. Wait wasn't bad. The staff were very friendly. The food was amazing. I got the seafood salad for appetizer and stuffed flounder for an entree'. I couldn't finish my entree' cause the portions were so I took it to go. I couldn't resist saying no to dessert when I heard they had rainbow cheesecake. I had to try it and I'm glad I did cause I never had amazing cheesecake like that before it was so fresh, light and not heavy at all. Yelp is asking me to explain my experience, so here goes...My teenage son and I didn't have an experience unless you consider putting your name on a "list", waiting an hour, then seeing people come in after you and be seated before you at a restaurant that doesn't take reservations. This is a members only club where the limited seating is for friends, family, and family friends.
