I went down to Eastern Market this morning since I'm dog sitting in Warren. After spending time walking around, I saw that Farmer Franks was serving breakfast, and it's exactly what I needed. Walking in, there was plenty of seating and people eating breakfast here on a nice Saturday morning. I reviewed the menu and had questions about a few of their dishes. I decided to go with the breakfast burrito with chicken instead of chrizo which they happily subsituted. The portion was large, and it was more than enough food for me to feel full afterwards. (not all breakfast sandwiches are made equal, let me tell you.) Their prices are sort of expensive, and closer to $20 a person. I did have to ask a few times for extra napkins, water had barely any ice in it, and they charge a 3% upcharge if running your card. I enjoyed my time here but I do feel like their prices are a bit high for what they're serving. Overall a reliable breakfast and lunch place if you don't want to leave the market. read more

Portions are too big and that's the only critique I'm gonna give the place. Good location for early morning Easter Market shoppers. Staff efficient and pleasant. Large variety on the menu. Should satisfy any family with kids or adults. My Philly omelette was great. read more

Ordered a Huevos Rancheros skillet, added turkey sausage and added a bagel and cream cheese, no substitutes at all. Everything is an add-on. Also ordered a Greek salad with feta on the side, they would not allow me to get a turkey Reuben, because it's not on the menu as such, even though they offer a turkey avocado melt. $49.29 Guess I will only be eating a salad for lunch today then. We will have to go elsewhere then. They only allow you to order off the menu on the weekends as is, seems rather rigid. This is a first to be told that a place doesn't want my money for a turkey Rueben when the beef version is on the menu and they have turkey sandwiches as well. Odd that my hubby's plain black coffee comes in a styrofoam cup, my green tea is in the usual expected ceramic mug. My husband will wait for a ceramic cup. The extremely rude waitress brought out a ceramic mug, after I asked for a ceramic mug. She made us feel most unwelcome during our entire visit. The staff member that brought us our food and brought me the Greek dressing were much more pleasant and warm. They do charge you for using a credit card here, around 4%, of course they do. Seems kind of high for a CC charge. Huevos isn't bad. They only gave us three flour tortillas. My husband wanted one more, but this place is so cheap, so we figured they would charge us for that, since they don't allow for any substitutes of ingredients or charging just an up charge instead of charging for full price item sides. Got the Greek salad, but no dressing at all. Am I supposed to eat this thing dry? I had to ask another waitress for some dressing 7 minutes later, since our waitress had no clue she hadn't brought any dressing at all. The red onions look so old and are thick cut rings, tossed them on the side. The tomatoes aren't ripe. Salad core in the salad. At least they use Romaine, spinach and greens. Salad is not special, dressing tastes like ranch with some beet juice added to it. Green tea is meh, coffee too. I believe our waitress needs some retraining on her job, she's not so good at it. Our waitress never checked on us once after the order and bringing our coffee and tea. She couldn't be bothered it seems. Not a good experience today at all, made worse by our main waitress. Odd her name is Tootsie, would have thought she would be a tad nicer though. Huevos was decent. Greek is worth a pass. Try to get anyone else but Tootsie, unless you like being treated indifferently and invisible. read more

I really enjoyed my breakfast here. The customer service was very top notch in what looked like an 'in town' industrial area. I later found out the area serves two purposes...1. a huge farmers market on Saturdays and 2. a big safe area for tailgaters for the sports teams. The servers and cooks were A1. It was quiet, but I'm sure on other days it probably gets a little loud. Overall, this reminded me of the 'greasy spoon' restaurants along the highways that have really good food. Except in this case the food was good and no greasy spoons anywhere, lol. I would definitely come back here for breakfast or even lunch (menu look yummy) if ever back in Detroit. They were open on 4th of July! Food did take a little to come out but there was only one waitress working the grounds and one server. Plenty of parking outside. They have soo many beautiful big flower pots in the front! I like their paintings inside as well. We ordered the Corn Hash and Nutella Crepe with a side of fries. All were delicious!! Stopped here for breakfast today around 1030am, was pretty busy but got a table quickly. We ordered two breakfasts, one classic and one the farmer franks big breakfast. Our food took about 35 mins to come out which was surprising since it was just breakfast. I ordered my eggs over medium. They were well done, the yolks were cooked through completely. I asked for the potatoes to be well done and they seemed like they barely hit the grill. Seems like for a breakfast place they would be able to cook eggs to the right likeness. The toast was good and the sausage was also good, but it's deep fried which I haven't really seen before. Overall probably wouldn't come here again, can get a quicker and better breakfast from a local coney. read more

My experience today at farmer franks, was very distasteful. The food was okay but the ambience & waiter was subpar at best. I brought My grandmother there for lunch and we were met with waiters yelling at the kitchen using awful language throughout the restaurant being overly aggressive and not attentive enough. My family and I have been coming here for a while because we usually enjoy the food, but lately the service has been disappointing. Every time we come, the food seems dry, and the wait is much longer than it should be. On our most recent visit, they forgot part of our order. My grandma ordered a combo, but they forgot to give her the sides that were supposed to come with it. We also had to wait longer because our food wasn't prepared correctly. This place has good potential, and that's why we keep giving it another chance, but the slow service, dry food, and forgotten items are becoming a pattern. We did not like the food not even the coffee. Would have done better and better taste from McDonald's and saved money. First time and last time. Place smelled like dirty mop water and the cheese in my omelette had a sour taste. Hungry jack boxed pancakes from home would be better. Coffee tastes just like water not even sugar and fake cream would make it better. I don't know how this place received 4 stars. I guess you would have to like hospital food. We finally tried Farmer Franks- and we are happy we did! Located in Eastern Market, there is always a wait line out the door. We now know why. The portions are huge, the prices are low, and the food is delicious! There is plenty of cozy seating & the food is served up fast & with a smile. I opted for the Eggs Benedict Florentine, serve with a side of delicious ripe fresh fruit. I was amazed how perfect the dish was cooked. Probably the best I've ever had in a restaurant! He opted for the cinnamon roll pancakes. Amazing!! I couldn't keep my fork off his plate. We shared a side of potatoes. There were also cooked to perfection. All I can say is, "Wow!" Stopped into Farmer Frank's yesterday for brunch before shopping and it was my first time there. I got the Nutella french toast and I was amazed with the flavor of it all! Service was great! Two nice ladies served our table. The ambiance is nice, updated, clean and inviting. The food was just okay. I'm am avid breakfast/brunch eater. My favorite type of food to eat. The English muffin was hard and over cooked. The tomatoes in my omelette were whole slices and not cut up. The omelette was also heavy veggies not much gyro. The grits needed salt. Food was decent. Service was not good. I do understand it was a busy Sunday morning but the responses we got for not having cheese in an omelette were wild. My fiancée got a western omelette (which comes with American cheese), I mean the cheese is a big portion of the omelette right? After receiving her omelette which was already cut up and more like a scramble (not a big deal, but weird), we told our server that there was no cheese in the omelette. The server came back with 2 slices of cold American cheese on a separate plate. Server did not apologize or anything for the mistake. The thing that really ticked us off was the comment she made after we were done eating. "Was everything good with the exception of the cheese?" Wild comment. I grew up in Detroit in the 70s thru the 2000s , and I always enjoyed coming sown to Eastern Market on Saturflday mornings to shop and to get breakfast. Being back home this past weekend, I wanted to come down and experience it all over again. Now, the historic breakfast place that was here for years did close, and I tired Framer Franks. It's been around about 4 years, and I see the loyal following. My waitress was good and attentive to my every need. The only issue I had was with the kitchen. I placed my order, and with the open kitchen concept, she informed them of my order scrambled eggs soft with Pepper Jack cheese, matter of fact it was 3 tables in front of the house that were seated and I know they heard the order to. The kitchen was efficient with getting my food, but they ignored my waitress and minds request. That's why you see two eggs in the picture. She had to request the order again, and they still didn't get it right. He gave me Swiss cheese instead of pepperjack. At this point. I just took the eggs for what they were worth. One of the cooks was so concerted on a customer that he walked in partial half naked that he stopped preparing food orders to come out of the kitchen to stare at the young lady. And the orders started to back up, which created delays in people getting their food. The food was good, but my waitress made the experience so much better, I even paid for a senior couples order who were seated next to me. Although, I won't be coming back here, just personal choice. Walked in on a Tuesday late morning for breakfast. Service was great even though they were short staffed. There was one waitress for an entire section. She was up and moving the entire time we were there The food was good, nothing that really popped out. My eggs benedict had to be remade because the eggs were cooked hard instead of poached. It was quickly fixed, so that was no biggie. My omelette was made perfectly. So I would order both again. The corned beef egg rolls were good, but EXTREMELY oily! You can see in the attached pictures how much oil came out of half the egg roll. That was not appealing what so ever. I was told the corned beef skillet was mainly full of peppers and onions, so there was not really great feedback on that. The French Toast was just okay. Got back to my office, literally only meat and cheese, nothing else (including no fries). If you have a half hour to one hour lunch, you might consider another option. read more

The location is great, but this isn't anything outside of a typical diner. It gets really busy on Saturday and Sunday morning, so make sure that you get there early! Service is a little slow, and again, the food isn't anything special. But it's in a convenient spot if you just need something to fill your stomach. read more

They advertise that they are farm to table. They aren't. It's just basic diner food. Heavily processed. You can't even get real maple syrup here. Jelly packets on the tables...the creamer in the little plastic containers...Log Cabin brand maple syrup that's basically corn syrup. This is just like a Coney or a Denny's. The wait was 15 minutes long but it seemed shorter than that. The place is kinda small, and it was super busy when we went in and left out. The food was great. Everything seemed fresh and it came out in a timely manner. I got the French toast breakfast and upgraded to Nutella French toast with eggs bacon and hash browns. I ordered the Powerful Eggwhite Omelette with Skillet Potatoes and Rye toast and it was absolutely perfect. It was so good that I ordered another one today and it was meh. They added so many tomatoes that both my omelette and potatoes were soggy. There was so much juice in the bottom of the bag that I had to wipe my desk down and my clothes! I am quite disappointed and feel that I did not get the quality I received on my first order and wasted my money. If I order again, I will definitely ask that they omit tomatoes! I wish I had taken a video to upload to show just how soggy it was! read more
