I did enjoy my meal here, with a very friendly staff! Going here with my friends, we had the fried rice, pad thai, volcano roll, a wrap, panang curry, and a few other things. We have no complaints whatsoever! I did thoroughly enjoy my food, great portions at a reasonable price! The Panang was especially good, it was sweeter than usual, but it is a refreshing taste! The only criticism I do have is that the beef was overcooked a bit, this led to chewy leathery textured beef. And the crushed peanuts were a bit excessive, but the flavors were spot on! we ordered lunch from here today.., for curbside pickup . Firstly, I am happy that they have a curbsite pickup option as we are not comfortable entering restaurants yet. The food was great. Ordered a california roll, a shrimp tempura and a couple of their soups. Their miso soup(i asked for it to be made spicy) was amazing- the perfect thing for a cold afternoon. this was our regular joint before the pandemic. the tom yum soup-not so much, it was sour for our tastebuds . One thing irks me though, if you place an online order , they add a 17% tip which can't be edited , and if you call them they say the complimentary stuff(an edamame on order over 20$) is not eligible. So either way you have to pay .I am happy to support local business , but I dont like it that the tip is made compulsory on a to-go order. My boyfriend and I were craving some Asian food when we discovered this place on Google Maps! We came here for lunch and they gave us 5 menus each! They had a lunch special going on so we both ordered the bento boxes which were around 10 bucks. I got the tonkatsu and my boyfriend got the beef. Mine was better. :P It also came with miso soup, your choice of shrimp tempura or spicy tuna or salmon roll, salad, and the appetizer of the day (we had 2 pieces of gyoza). I'm not sure how this restaurant has achieved anything greater than one star. The food was so terrible that I had to throw it all away. I'm not kidding - it was by far the worst food I've ever eaten. Both the chicken and the beef were so over cooked that I felt like I was eating 10 day old meat. I will never ever ever eat here again. You should avoid it to like the plague. Anyhow, I'm a total foodie and I use GrubHub several times per week. I've only had three bad experiences and unfortunately this restaurant is one of them. Here's my response after the restaurant's response: It's amusing that this restaurant thinks GrubHub gives refunds at a drop of the hat. As I mentioned earlier, I've ordered more than 150 times from GrubHub in the last two years. I've only taken issue with three restaurants, including this one. I think this manager needs to spend more time learning how to improve their food and customer service than throw darts at me:-( I was not provided a complete refund. In fact, they refused. You know what they say about a bad review? One bad review loses 15-30 customers! Here's my 2nd response to the restaurants 2nd response. We wanted to get take-away for 'Order the Yelp' but since we had to dine-in to take advantage of the deal, we had to go in. What started off as a Rocky start Wrapped up as Rolls of Fun! I brought my son and the restaurant is NOT wheelchair accessible so we had to carry my son in his wheelchair up the steps into the place, then sat at the wrong table, then were re-sat at a dirty table and waited for a few minutes until it was cleaned....and I would have ended this experience there, but after we were settled in, the rest was Good! Our server was attentive and the food not only tasted Great, but looked Chic! The Grilled Squid was first up, plated on a lovely red starfish glass plate with the spicy chili garlic sauce in the middle. The charbroiled squid was perfectly cooked with a tender chew and prefect sized bites. The Miami had jalapeño, shrimp tempura, lettuce, crab, and unagi sauce topped with spicy mayo. The tempura was light and not greasy, and the lettuce added a subtle level of crunch. As a fan, I just Had to order the Beatle! It had tuna, avocado, cilantro, jalapeno, topped with masago, and had a Colorful Dragon made of Mayo! I love this place! Me and my wife come here at least 2-3 times a month during lunch for their half off maki specials. Also if you go there make sure you get the wrecking ball appetizer. It is 4 balls of rice deep fried topped with spicy tuna with dipping sauce. They also do specials on the thai and chinese parts of the menus as well. The maki is some of the freshest maki i've ever had and i eat a lot of maki. Service is great. There is always a place to sit. read more

They weren't kidding with the 60-70 min delivery wait.... I've been spoiled on deliveries that arrive well before the ETA, but occasionally there are experiences that go way outside the time frame. 80 minutes later I was famished, and called the restaurant to get an estimate. Anything longer than 5 more minutes and I was going to pick up some snacks at Walgreens. I called and they immediately explained the driver would arrive in a few minutes and apologized for the delay. I hunkered down and continued my waiting game. But the food guys. They are not messing around. I ordered enough food for a small army and every thing I ordered was quality. I got two different curries, a yellow curry with tofu and the green curry with chicken- these were chock full of spices and flavor, wow. And the chicken was the best cooked chicken I have EVER had in a curry, it was so tender and juicy. I also got two sushi rolls, a rainbow roll and a mango roll dusted with shredded coconut and sunflower seeds... so fun!! I can't wait to recreate something like it when I start making sushi of my own. Was a wonderful healthy "dessert" sushi roll. I also got a Thai coffee. I've never had a bad Thai coffee but this was the cherry on top of my meal. Good casual sushi place with a huge variety of rolls. It's a great place if you love a big menu, but I imagine it'd be hard if you were a first time sushi-goer trying to figure out what you want in your sushi. There are two different menus, one with Japanese specialties and rolls and one with Thai specialties. Then there's another menu with more specialty rolls. So it was a bit overwhelming at first to figure out what to order. I ended up getting a Samurai roll and a Philadelphia Maki and both were great and came out quickly. Though, like some of the other reviews, I was disappointed that neither of the rolls came with a fun design on the plate. Neither did my friend's. Overall though, the atmosphere was nice and colorful and the service was fast. We polished off: Thai Pork Skewers (delicious! don't forget to dip), StrawberryLicious Maki (asparagus, sweet potato, avocado, cream cheese, strawberries, cashews), Green Day (sweet potato, broccoli, mushroom, avocado, sunflower seeds), Mango Tango (tofu, avocado, mushroom, mango, almond), Mexican (shrimp tempura, cilantro, jalapeno, avocado), and Snow Flake (crab, unagi, coconut), thai iced tea, green tea ice cream, and chocolate fudge lava cake (perfectly cooked!) with vanilla ice cream. Everything we ate was delicious. Fresh and tasty. Some of the combinations of rolls sounded odd, but they really work well together. Each roll I tried had either a sweet or spicy dimension that was not overpowering at all. All of today's makis also had a crunchy component from either tempura, nuts, or seeds. Extremely courteous and attentive service from our waitress, who was doing double duty as the social media coordinator and possibly also manager and/or owner? The sushi chefs offered friendly smiles but didn't talk much (then again, we were at the opposite corner of the restaurant). My kids polished off the leftovers and were looking for more. Rock Wrap and Roll was a recommendation from a friend for my birthday dinner with a few people. It's BYOB and doesn't charge a corkage fee. They even offered an ice bucket to chill our wine. The staff was polite and upon discovering it was my birthday gave me an appetizer and ice cream at the end to celebrate. The place is small and cozy and the sushi was top notch. I recommend the Blackhawk Roll (which was delicious, even though I do not order any variety of spicy items, it was minimal in spicy), Strawberry Signature Maki Roll & Volcano Special Maki Roll. I don't remember the other 2 sides as well as the other shrimp (maybe tempura?) roll we ordered, but they were delectable. The presentation of each roll was a visual spectacle. See the photos I attached. That was my birthday roll and the shrimp roll came on a round wood platter. They gladly obliged when my sister asked for extra sauce they put on one of the rolls. When last call time came, they politely asked us if we would like to place any last orders. Across the street is a Jewel, so if you didn't bring BYOB or need more, someone from your party could run across the street. Next time I go, I plan on trying other menu items besides sushi. This trip was a sushi only trip. They were attentive servers, but didn't bother us every two minutes, nor did they disappear. They have Groupon deals and they deliver. Sadly, I wouldn't be able to dine here often because it isn't near my home. But after reviewing the menu at home, I would definitely come back. We both agreed that the TNT Roll didn't taste fresh and was very bland, and we didn't care for the Volcano Roll at all (we each only had one bite). One of my favorite sushi places in Chicago - and that's saying something because there's a lot. It's definitely a hidden gem and if you haven't been there, you need to go asap. I've dined-in as well as ordered delivery from here and the top-knotch quality and service has never failed. First of all, the service is incredible. They're so nice and accommodating and personable when you come in. The times I've been here I've definitely been able to observe a friendliness and familiarity with customers that goes the extra mile. The rolls themselves are delicious as well. They have such a large variety from your standard basic rolls (my faves) to more complex and super creative combos. I must say that I tend not to be that adventurous when it comes to sushi but each roll I've tried here has been worth it. The flavor combos are insane and the fish is always very fresh. Plus the sushi art and presentation is always worth a picture and really compliments the experience. Don't sleep on the rest of their menu though - sushi isn't the only thing they serve. I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday last Thursday because the place had caught my eye while driving down Clybourn the week before. The hostess seemed a little bitter as she sat us but it was nothing too ridiculous. Shortly after arriving the other couple in the restaurant headed out and we had the place all to ourselves until about 8:30pm when business suddenly picked up. There was no hassle with the BYOB as the kind waitress quickly brought us a corkscrew and some glasses while we looked over the menu. There was a good selection of both Thai and Japanese dishes. The restaurant has a nice feel and good ambiance too. The only drawback was that they had the radio on the music system and we had to sit through what seemed like an interminable and very loud commercial break before I politely requested that they put a CD on or something. The waitress shyly said that the radio was on and that it was just commercials (no, really?) but a little while after she talked to the hostess they put on a techno/trance CD which, although cheesy, was much better to listen to than ads for mattresses. We ordered some Goyza (standard but good) and my girlfriend ordered some Tom Kha soup to start with. I'm not a big fan of Thai/coconut based soups but she urged me to try it and I will admit that it was pretty tasty. We ordered the Beatle Roll and the Dragon Roll and both were pretty good. Not the best sushi, but worth the price. So yeah, it was really an a-ok experience. I'm not sure we'd come back. We arrived to the restaurant at 11:30am, when the restaurant is supposed to open up. Just as I was about to drive off, a group of 5 people showed up to unlock the restaurant at 11:40am. When I walked to the bathroom, there were dirty glasses stacked from the night before. It easily took 10 minutes before we got our menus... Around 5 minutes after ordering, some random guy came off the street, to have lunch with all employees. The kitchen seemed more concerned with providing them with plates of food, before prepping for customers. Random guy was behind the counter grabbing glasses, plates and napkins, without ever washing his hands. The food was ok: crab ragoon was crispy, volcano was tasty (even though the presentation didn't look great) and spider was edible. But I would avoid the spicy tuna. read more
