Been here a couple of times and location has nice wrap around for outdoor seating. Great for a drink as well but went for apps and had a great assortment of options. Met a friend for lunch here yesterday. What a wonderful meal and view ( see attached picture). It was a perfect day and there were plenty of tables on the deck to enjoy the weather & sights. Had a chicken salad sandwich and because I couldn't decide which side I wanted, asked our waiter (think his name was David) if I could get both fries & onion rings. He said of course. Had a meal here last Saturday night, wow! The food was so good, best american food i've had since moving to CT in 2018. I had the smoked wings, chicken sink flavor; and the shrimp app. The wings melt in your mouth bursting with flavor, so does the shrimp. I relished every bite! I also tried the Brussel sprouts app, so good and so much flavor. Next came the main course, (at this time i opened the first button of my pants), i had the cajun steak. Now i don't love steak and would always order salmon but wanted to give this a shot since the apps were so good. Best steak i ever had, so much flavor. Only demerit was that it wasn't hot, why do restaurants not serve hot steaks!!! But i ate it ha!, only left a small piece it was that good. Was too full for desert at this point. I went to a networking lunch at Rockledge and really enjoyed my time. The venue is bright and airy, with a beautiful view of the golf course. We had bruschetta for an appetizer, which was okay and a Caesar salad, which was really good. I ordered the Lemon Garlic Salmon, which came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! The fish was fresh, with a few char lines from the grill, which added a delicious flavor to the dish. My one complaint was that the broccoli was clearly frozen, not fresh and it was still very cold when it was served. They served brownies and oatmeal cookies for dessert. Popped in on a cool day for lunch and sat on the covered portion of the patio overlooking the 18th green - keep an eye out for errant shots. One in the party had a Bombay sapphire martini ($11.50) with nice olives. Two salads and the meatball sliders were ordered - everything was fresh and served at the correct temperature. Service was prompt and friendly but could use a little polishing, I.e. Brought a side of marinara for the sliders with no spoon for the sauce. Wish they had the arugula salad that they serve at the Beechland Tavern. I struggled with this review. After all, it's in WeHa and it's my playground. Honestly, some not so good news might be good in the long run. I want the Rockledge Grille to succeed. The location is right and the recent upgrades were overdue. We were seated outside on the deck along with other diners on a beautiful Monday evening. The interior unoccupied, after all it was the first day of the work week. The family & I were promptly greeted and given plain glasses of water without asking. Then asked if we'd like anything else to drink. I replied, "Yes do you have a list?" Response, "No, but we have a full bar...and a hand written list of wines and beers." It was a crumpled notepad sized list. Hmmm. We deciphered the writing and ordered beverages. Next up, our single sheet listing the menu. Standard items to be kind and really not reflecting any creativity. Hmmm. Appetizers ordered: a Hummus Platter with cup of Hummus, wedges of a breaded substance, carrots, and celery with under-inspected ends with age rust celery, secondly a Burrata with Mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and a balsamic drizzle. Nicely done, except a few slices of fresh French or Italian would have kicked this app through the uprights. Our mains: The Rockledge Burger with bacon, provolone, and sautéed onions added, except the bacon must have gotten lost in the rough! The burger was good, but it quickly required a fork because the roll disintegrated after all the juices from the burger and tomato took charge. The other dishes consisted of two orders of the Scallop entree with creamed polenta and the forth a platter of the Mac & Cheese with bacon (must have been mine?). Both Scallops and Mac were approved. Dessert, on this day was reported to be "Chocolate Cake, Cheese Cake, Vanilla, or Chocolate Ice Cream. Hmmm, no thanks. I went during the West Hartford restaurant week. It was a great deal with ample selections and portions. It was $30 (not including tax/tip) for an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The meatball appetizer was delicious. (I thought it was the entree.) I would recommend the half chicken (surprisingly not dry) or the strip steak. Skip the Gorgonzola cheese because it overwhelmed the steak. It was a hearty portion with plenty of leftovers for a 2nd meal. Our server David was very professional and nice. He swapped out the Brussel sprouts (very burnt) for some broccoli. For dessert, the strawberry shortcake or cheesecake was tasty. Bathrooms were clean, but be careful of the unisex one as it didn't lock. Parking was free and easy to find. The only hard thing was finding the entrance to the parking lot. The food is not fresh. I believe in second chances so I have been back more than once in the past year. My family has also eaten here as it is within walking distance. What a shame. The food is gross. I had the poke bowl and the grains were mushy. Left over for too long. On a separate occasion I had the chicken nachos which were covered in some Mayo type sauce (not aioli) that was likely rancid. And the one Pinot Grigio that was available was sour. The beef in the Patty melt wasn't cooked properly and the result was a sick stomach and intestinal issues for my daughter. My son had the bean burger and was up all night. In the era of outdoor patio dining this is surely my new favorite place! This restaurant is seated right above the beautiful rockledge golf course and has a beautiful view of it! On a Tuesday afternoon, 6 of us were seated quite quickly outside on their patio. The food was absolutely delicious. I got the taco salad which was gigantic and so so amazing- it had meat, ranch, sour cream, Jalapeños, pico de Gallo, cheese, a bed of mixed greens and all packed inside a crispy light tortilla bowl (might have been the best ever!)- get this item!! My husband got their Mac and cheese which was also very good and even better when he asked to have buffalo chicken in it the server quickly obliged and was extremely accommodating to his request! The only issue was this poor server was working all alone so we didn't get our waters or other requests very often or not at all. Regardless it's a great place and I will definitely be back! I originally intended to start this review differently- however mistakes happen and Rockledge Grille did a wonderful job rectifying theirs which is not common enough nowadays. With that being said, how was the food? To put it simply, it was delightful! I opted for the seafood risotto which was tasty with a generous portion of fish. The sauce was flavorful and complimented it well, but maybe was slightly heavy on the lemon and tomato. I also had some of my wife's sweet potato fries and they were wonderful as well with just the right amount of seasoning. Overall I really applaud the waiters and waitresses who are busting their behinds to ensure everyone has a good experience- they are the MVPs. read more

We've had two retirement events at Rockledge and both went extremely well. We had a cocktail/hors d'oeuvre style reception with a beer and wine bar for about 50 people. Guests were all impressed with the quality of the food and there was definitely enough for everyone. Bartenders were excellent and servers were attentive but not intrusive. Five-star dining at Rockledge Grill today! Gorgeous day on the deck with their famous view of the fairway. One of the Grill's banquet rooms was jammed with a large bridal shower, but our lunchtime service and food were not affected in the least. We had called ahead and were seated immediately outside with menus and silverware. Waitress brought water promptly and took our drink orders. We were not in a hurry and she gave us plenty of time. Husband ordered the Philly Cheese Steak with fries; I had the Rockledge Burger Sliders (technically an appetizer, but three perfectly cooked minis with cheese and bistro sauce were more than enough as an entrée).   Kitchen was turning out a LOT of great looking plates the whole time we were there, and the wait staff was hustling, friendly and efficient. No room for the Coconut Key Lime Pie special today, but we're looking forward to returning for a sunset dinner soon! read more

I've been to this location almost 20 times, and every time I've gotten another great meal. The recently reopened restaurant at Rockledge Golf Course is not up to par just yet. It is tastefully decorated and has a large outdoor seating area overlooking the golf course. Unfortunately it looks directly into the western setting sun so it is blindingly sunny at times and very hot on hot days despite having table umbrellas. Pick the right day and time, however, and it is one of the best outdoor venues in town! Inside, the air conditioning was blasting down on the tables to the point of being uncomfortable. However, it was a hot day and I'm sure the working staff liked it that way, and they are the ones who determine the settings. The system needs some sort of diffuser to keep the cold air from blowing directly on the dinners and their food. Our server was new and knew nothing, although she was pleasant. The menu didn't help much, not even listing the available sides to go with sandwiches. There was very limited fare for vegetarians or gluten frees. How about a veggie quesadilla? The prices are higher than in the old restaurant but that is no surprise .....somebody has to pay for the nice renovations! So it's a new venue that may not have found it's footing yet however it does have potential. Update: Still can't give it much better than three stars. Not much for vegetarians. Menu choices uninspiring. How about a good fish sandwich or Beyond Burger? read more

We had a private gathering at Rockledge this past weekend as a bereavement party. Rockledge was able to accommodate us with only a few days' notice and definitely got the job done. The renovations are gorgeous and really open the room up to the natural light, which was a welcome change from the reception in the church basement we had just attended. The buffet was filling and offered a good variety of options. The staff at the bar were happy to help and at least one person was almost always there, waiting to serve. The owner of Park Tavern and Beachland Tavern has (dare I say) another hit on his hands! I'd only been to Rockledge once or twice in the past and these guys did a bang up job renovating the inside and out. The deck looks fantastic but it was way too hot to have my lunch outside. I popped in on a Monday afternoon for lunch. It was hard to tell if it was open but I could spy a person sitting at the bar so in we went. I'm pretty sure my wife and I (age 50 and 47) were the youngest patrons in the joint. There were what appeared to be retirees enjoying a meal or a drink at that time. I mean hey, it's a work day at noon, who else is going to be lunching? They don't have a real website with a menu you can view and honestly I didn't want to take a pic of the menu, I was shy and didn't want to look like a jerk to the other patrons but I can say, it's pretty good. There was no indication that the menu I had was for lunch or dinner. I think it's for both. They have my beloved smoked kitchen sink wings (popular at the other 2 restaurants) and some similar menu items like mac and cheese. I dig me some sliders and they had 3 on the menu: crispy chicken ones, meatball ones and burgers. We went with "kitchen sink" chicken sliders and meatball sliders. They come 3 to an order at they're $11. I would love to see a mix and match slider situation (if you're reading this, please!!). They were both super tasty. I'm picky as heck about both chicken and meatballs and I thought they were great! Fries/sides of fries aren't on the menu but they're available in regular, sweet potato and waffle. We got waffle which were alright but mostly it was a pile of bits of waffle fries with 5 full waffle fries on top. The draft selection is where that 5th star is missing from this review. It was (and I am reluctant to use this word) basic. Maybe 6 beers on tap and the selection blows compared to Beachland tavern. Bud, Stella, Blue Moon. With Naughty Nurse being the exception, nothing was locally made (and I know that Naughty Nurse is really not made in CT anyway). I'm happy there's a nice spot where you can dine alfresco in town where you're not breathing in car exhaust, and you have a nice green and hilly view of the golf course. read more

A bit disappointed when I met friends for lunch. The turkey club could not be eaten. There was way too much turkey on it, rendering it so high I could not bite it. I went to a fundraiser and had a terrible experience with the bartender. I asked if someone could clean up the tables that were littered with chicken bones, half eaten food, and empty bottles and cans. She literally screamed at me that they were shorthanded and were doing all that they could. I tried to tell her that servers were returning to the kitchen empty handed, but she stormed off and left me standing at the bar. We spent a lot of money there, and her unprofessional behavior was completely unacceptable. I will never return there. read more

Absolutely love this golf course, but the restaurant was not my favorite. There were only 2 tables sat when my friends and I went, yet it took the waitress 20 mins to bring water, and she brought out the wrong drinks. When she brought out the food, most of the order was wrong, which was frustrating because we had been waiting a while for that little amount of people to be there. Once the food was right, it was very good. However, we asked for the check and my friend handed the waitress her credit card. She brought it back without the credit card and my friend asked where it was, and it took walking around the restaurant for the server to realize the credit card was just sitting in the machine. Such a great place!! Outdoor seating overlooks the golf course and displays gorgeous sunsets. Food is AMAZING. The infamous wings lived up to the hype. The kitchen sink smoked wings are the best wings I have ever had. We also had caprese salad, and oysters for apps. Main dish was shrimp scampi and was also so delicious. I would like to say that during a time when Restaurants are looking to reopen back up after a year of being closed and with restrictions because of covid, A group of Us , Hartford Employees, went out to meet after a hard year of Covid. Not only did we want to see each other after a year, but we wanted to support the Restaurant businesses that have suffered during Covid. About 12 of us went to Rockledge Grille in West Hartford CT . We were seated at an outdoor table. At no time after being seated did they, staff or Restaurant employees advise us that there was a 2 1/2 time limit at the table. Now get it the place wasn't packed , nor was the table reserved or had reserved indicators on the table. We spent well over $500 all together in food and drinks while there. We were asked to abruptly leave because of a 2 1/2 hour reserve time limit was up. We were in shock ,that as paying customers we were being told to leave because our time was up . We felt embarrassed and shocked by the hostess that came over to our table and told us to leave after just ordering food and drinks.We were forced to hurry up and finish our drinks and grab our food that was ordered ,in order to leave. The service was bad, waitress took for ever to come to our table, some of us had to go inside and order drinks. When waitress did come, she did not take orders right , orders were mixed up. It was a bit chilly outside every other table had out door standing fireplace burners for heat. Our tables the fireplace was not lit, when we asked the waitress, she did not listen even after she was asked to have it turned on. We were here to help support their business and have a good time. But instead made to leave after only bring there 2 1/2 hours arriving from about 4:30 pm and made to leave by 6:30. They could of easily made an effort to move us to a different part of the bar or outside patio area that was not being used. There was no line outside which would indicate that the Grille was packed with customers waiting outside to get inside. Again made to leave in the middle of our drinks and food was very poor service and not a welcoming feeling and therefore i would not recommend the Rockledge Grille as a friendly welcoming place for a group of people trying to meet with friends or love ones . You might get kicked out before you finally get comfortable to enjoy ur time there. Especially by a very cold and not so friendly hostess after just spending several hundred dollars while there. There are better more friendly businesses out there that could use your patronage and make you feel welcome. Not super impressed, but will give credit where credit is deserved. My party and I went for drinks and dessert. Drink menu wasn't anything to rave about, relatively limited I thought. And the crème brulee was a little subpar. The regular dinner menu did look really good though, and I saw a table order a reuben sandwich that I did instantly regret not order. Might go back for food if the opportunity comes around, but would not make my way back to Rocklege for just drinks and dessert. read more

Had lunch here recently. Eating outside in the summer here is nice, sweet view of the golf course. The waiter took the order. Brought the order. That's it. Didn't ask if we wanted coffee. Didn't bring check, I went inside to pay. I had cobb salad w grilled chicken. Chicken was great, cooked perfectly. The avocado tasted and looked like hard rubber. I never had avocado like that before. I'd imagine it's what the inside of a tennis ball tastes like. Maybe just bad batch of avocados, Idk. I've never felt comfortable sending food back, so whatever, I just enjoyed the view and the chicken part of the salad and paid the check. read more
