The service here is amazing. But unfortunately, this weird sign made me feel kind of uncomfortable. It made me feel like this company is saying they don't make enough money to pay their workers the city of Austin's living wage. According to MIT research the All City living wage is $20.80 an hour. I understand the statement and how impactful gratuity can be to your employees, but it is also taxed at a higher rate. When workers have substandard wages in a high amount of tips and their tips aren't taxed sometimes they end up being left with a negative amount on their tax return. I just don't think the sign aligns with all of the other community work that this brand does nor would I consider them a small business is locally owned, but not only do they operate the store they have a wholesale department as well I would implore rockstar bagels to reconsider their wages And increase them to 2080 or take down the sign. read more

This is a place grab some bagels and more than likely go somewhere else to eat. It has a walk-up window in which you order from. There are a few seats around the building that you can sit on to eat. Since we are visiting my hubby and I sat and ate here but it seems like most people are locals and order food to go. We got our two usual orders: Lox on a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese, onion, and capers. The bagel was toasted so it was warm and soft with a little crisp. There was a ton of cream cheese, for us more than needed, salmon and carpers. It made me happy they didn't scrimp on the salmon. Then we usually get an everything with veggie cream cheese. This might be my favorite veggie cream cheese. It was so unique in taste and a new combination of veggie flavors. I don't know what there ingredients are but it amazing!!! The ingredients tied well with everything and was perfect for breakfast for ~$6. If you're coming to check them out be sure to grab a stamp card at the front when you're paying because you'll sure want to come back. I like a lot of things about this place - location is nice and chill though there's no indoor seating, you can stand around and eat a bagel real quick. Rockstar bagel was a basic favorite - bacon, egg, and cheese. Nothing was inspirational or even that good about this take on a bacon egg n cheese. Turkey Club was good. The bacon on both of my sandwiches was cooked nicely - it has this weird baked bacon texture to it, but it's good. I didn't think I'd like this one as much as I did. Another big thing here is that you aren't getting "beefy" big sandwiches here as you'd get in NYC. Just an expectation given the price and NYC inspirations, I guess. read more
