    Shrimp Fried Rice
    Ashley M.

Unfortunately this dish was just a no for me all around. First the shrimp are very small and most importantly for me not deveined. I find that gross. The shrimp were cooked separately from the fried rice and not cooked together which while a little odd not really a big deal. The rice was extremely oily and had little flavor outside of the flavor of oil. This restaurant may have other dishes that are better but I honestly don't see myself ordering from them again.

    Garbage

Ordered via Uber - it took almost 2 hours and counting. (And apparently I'm being forced to do the minimum number of characters in order to post this review) kind of like the people that work there. *** update food arrived and it's trash. Chicken tastes like it was frozen and the rice is essentially raw .

Well I was disappointed! After driving past for about a year I decided to give it try. Big mistake!! It was early enough to have fresh hot food. Unfortunately it was not!! Rice and meat was cold. The rice was hard not appetizing at all. Shrimp, chicken and beef tasted old. So not pleased at all!!! I threw away $14 worth of food and I never waste money.

We tried this food truck because it had a 5 star review on google. We ordered online for pick up. Said it be ready in 15 min, took 45! The food boxes weren't even full. The shrimp were tiny in the fried rice. Looked like ramen noodle shrimp. Taste like was ok but food was cold. We ordered steamed rice as well, box was half way full and the rice was hard. Definitely not 5 stars. There were several people that were also complaining about the wait. Would not recommend at all.

The Rockstar Fried rice was great, and the cook was very welcoming. Flavor was blasting , much better than what I'm used to when I order fried rice. These guys know what they're doing! I will be coming back. THANKS ROCKSTAR,

    10/10 highly recommended. I'm hooked !

So good - so affordable and convenient! Just go... the fried rice is our family favorite - chicken, rice, or shrimp and add garlic butter.

Plano is close by and what I love about Yama in Plano is their specials. My work bestie and I love trying out their specials. We've tried so many great things on the menu. I strongly recommend the specials; whelk clam nigiri and soy butter rice octopus! They're giving "tenderism." An amazing classic is also the Teardrop roll. Salmon, tuna, yellowtail, with jalapeños and kizami. Chef's kiss. Melanie is also very kind and knows everyone as well. She's super well rounded. Food and service is great! Ambiance is also super chill especially if you're getting off a shift late at night!

Alaskan Roll: A classic roll that's perfect for salmon lovers. The price is standard for sushi in the area, and the portion size is generous. The roll was very fresh with great flavor. Eel Roll: This roll was good but definitely on the smaller side. However, it was still fresh, and the sauce was tasty. Chirashi: This dish was just okay. I'd recommend sticking to the rolls instead of the bowl. It came with one piece of each type of fish, almost like a sampler with a lot of rice.

HIDDEN GEM! This place is a sleeper hit waiting to blow up. i can't believe this place is in…read moreAddison. If this was located in downtown Dallas it would make way more sense. I've been to Michelin starred omakases (including tempura omakases) in Japan and New York, and this place honestly meets or comes extremely close to fitting the bill in terms of food and service. At the Michelin restaurants, you pay almost double the price for high quality ingredients, stellar service, ambiance, and a Japanese toilet :P For $100 pp for the tempura omakase at Takumi Hachi, you leave feeling full and satisfied, with a great selection of light and deliciously fried fritters. Each person gets a bowl of their divinely delicious tempura sauce with a generous amount of shaved daikon (not even lying when i say this is my favorite tempura sauce i've had, i could've just drank it on its own) and a selection of salts, with each course given a recommendation of which salt to use. In terms of ambiance: frankly speaking, if it was just the counter service omakase, i'd say it would feel more stuffy and unapproachable. But there is a general seating area that is not counter service where you can order off the menu for sushi, robata, and a la carte options. No dress code enforced or recommended, so you can be dining with all sorts of patrons with different sizes of families and children. whether or not this is your jam, it's still an extremely accessible place to dine for anyone and everyone. Reservations were incredibly easy to make (tempura omakase only From Sunday thru Thursday). Service was really kind and attentive, my husband's water literally never went below half empty. The only thing to take service to the next level is if they cleaned/wiped your plate/gave you a new plate between each course. American toilet. Lol. That's neither here nor there, but the bathroom is very clean lol! They were also sweet enough to read my reservation note for the occasion for dining and gifted us a delicious strawberry mousse, accompanied with a surprise tableside matcha to end the meal. I'm already looking forward to try their kaiseki set meal next time, and know that this place is a top contender to take my friends or loved ones for special occasions. I can't speak much for their sushi, but I added on some robata and grill menu items to the omakase and they were fantastic. Highly recommend the maitake mushroom tempura add on to your course. If you order ebi sushi, they offer to take the head once you're done eating the sushi and either put it in a miso soup or fry it for you, which i thought was a wonderful option. Also, we got tempura anago, something I've never had anywhere else, served two different ways. That alone was enough to make this experience stand out. For an experience like I had tonight, I felt as if the restaurant should be more full. Maybe because it is tucked away behind the other chain restaurants in Addison that are a little easier to see. Don't hesitate if you see the price tag, I definitely think you get a great value for food, service, and experience. We were there for two hours and enjoyed it very much. Thank goodness i don't have to drive all the way to downtown Dallas to enjoy some delicious Japanese food without the headache and hassle of finding parking and an accessible reservation.

The left side/entrance area does have a bleach/cleaner type smell but I didn't notice it further into the restaurant. We did the Kaiseki Omakase. Staff is super friendly and explained every step of the experience. Like all courses meals - smaller portions but overall left super full. The clay pot was actually a huge portion as both of us ended up getting two bowls worth. Pacing of the meal was solid, kept it moving but didn't feel rushed at all. We were celebrating a birthday and they gave us a sweet treat as well at the end which was so appreciated! Would definitely recommend for a special occasion
