The restaurant itself was very nice inside and the service was friendly and efficient. The salad bar was ample with three greens to choose, whole baby carrots and other items. Very disappointed in the quality of the fish. We had a crunch roll that was SO fishy tasting we couldn't eat it. The burrito roll had a nice concept but the final was not good. Fish was good, avocado fresh, but the rice was way way way too much. Exacuted much better with a smaller amount of rice around it all followed by the soypaper wrap. (It was about 3 " thick with rice! They had about 5 different sauces with no explanation as to how or what to put them on. Ginger was just this tiny bit, barely enough to share 2 ways. The wasabi, really no joke, was in a tear open packet like soy sauce. But no soy sauce included. I hope they pay attention to this and make changes before it's a loosening restaurant. Please taste your fish a couple times a day to be sure it taste fresh. Toss it if not up to quality. read more

Visiting friends and decided to order into the hotel vice going out. Not such a good idea. I normally give good reviews, but this place was not the best. Their sushi rolls were not rolled tight. They fell apart. They were not sliced evenly. The cucumber roll was so loose and not cut straight that it made me wonder who they hired. Definitely not impressed. We came to sushi shack looking for some good All you can eat sushi. We saw sushi shack did AYCE, so we gave it a shot. We came in on a Monday around 4pm. Lots of seating and they had some really good music playing. I love the aesthetics of the inside. I did see reviews of the the rude lady. I'm pretty sure she served us, but I think she did a really well job and was polite. She attended to us very well, and provided great hospitality. We did the AYCE dinner for $25 before tax. I think it was a pretty solid deal and the food was really good. The only downside was that the yellowtail roll had a wrap that was a little mushy/chewy, but other than that, the rolls were bursting with flavor. They have different kind of AYCE, where you provide what you need and they will bring it to table. I ordered spicy California roll, crunch roll and Parker roll. Went here for the first time last week and I am so glad I did! I have lived in Plano for so long and I can't believe I have never been here. This is a very reasonably priced sushi restaurant with a great all you can eat deal! I got full very fast but if you are hungry this is a great deal. The sushi was very fresh and tasty. The Sushimi is cut nice and thick. I also love that they offer free miso soup and salad. It is a small place but comfy. The only con I found was the server did not ask if I had ever been there and didn't explain how the all you can eat works. (They were speaking English as they discussed the situation, we could hear it all as they didn't mute themselves) I was told I needed to come pick up a cash refund. I explained we wouldn't be there today as we're all throwing up and one is "literally" stuck on the toilet. I was told to speak with the manager Ms. Lee tomorrow or Wednesday in person for my refund once feeling better. RUN FOR YOUR HEALTH! If I could give zero stars I would. Me and two friends got food poisoning tonight from this establishment m. We ordered at 4 and within 3 hours of eating we're all hurling and one has diarrhea. We called the store to let them know which items we believed were bad so they could check the stock and take it off the menu. Within a minute of being put on "hold" where we could hear them talking the hostess was told to tell us the food was fine and that they checked it, though they didn't. She then said the chef said everything was fine and they hadn't had any calls yet. She then proceeded to say we're having an allergic reaction. We've had these types of rolls before from other establishments with no issues. Now we are getting ready to head to urgent care for food poisoning as we're bloated, have thrown everything up including water. The hostess said we can post and call the health inspector after I threatened to call them because we were being dismissed. My 9 yr old and i love to try AYCE sushi places. This one cost 25$ for an adult for dinner and $12 for a kid 10 and under which is in line w other places like Tokyo One that we have tried. At sushi shack you get 3 rounds to order as much as you like which differs from others where u can get what u want buffet style. The service here was not very good. Took forever to get a waiter or waitress to come by each time to take our order, get a refill, took 2 times to ask for the check to get it. The food quality was also subpar. Not fresh tasting at all compared to even other AYCE sushi places. Of the ones we ordered (Hawaiian roll, Sunset roll, Rock n Roll, Shrimp Tempura roll, and just regular california roll) the Rock N Roll was my favorite but was just okay. The tuna on top of the hawaiian roll tasted less fresh that grocery store sushi. My son liked the sunset roll best but agreed it was not as good as the other places we've been to. We came by to celebrate my birthday because we know the food is always fresh. We had such a nice time, I love eating places that have dim lighting because it's so much more relaxing. The service was wonderful as well, everyone is so considerate. We ended up going past the last call for the lunch special so we decided to take the third round to go. Got this as a recommendation from a Facebook group Asian Hub dfw. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here! Everyone is very nice and attentive. I like the salad bar. Yes there's the 3 rounds of all you can eat sushi but also korean fried chicken tender and bentos. The chicken was really moist and crispy. I got sushi. It was really good! I enjoyed my 2 rolls. The salmon with cream cheese and avocado all melded well together. Usually rolls filled up fast but these were light and I was able to finish all of them. They are upfront about the rules for AYCE. Don't be wasteful, parties of 5+ have 18% gratuity automatically added. All the bad reviews made me sad for this place. I've been ordering from here for about 2 years, have dined in a few times, and have never had a bad experience. The same 2 ladies are basically always there and are always business-friendly. Be warned to others that they require 20% tip for a party of 5. I've worked in restaurants and it's 6 or up considered a party typically, so I questioned it nicely to the waitress. She told us back, " Oh only for today I was just told we're doing it 5 or more a party." Then, another lady came by to ask what is wrong? I can barely see the fish in it, plus the rolls weren't made properly, they are falling apart. The customer service is the worst part.
