Really great little Cajun seafood place. Very reasonably priced . My wife and I got 2lbs of shrimp with potatoes and corn and a pitcher of beer for about $54... we also got an additional side of potatoes and corn for our little 15 month old. I love how late this place opens ! I always call for take out and they always have it ready for me within 10mins, they will give you a call if it's past 20mins. Simply delicious. I tried the shrimp and king crab. While the crab was a bit overcooked, it was still delicious. Shrimp was fresh and perfectly cooked. Their sauce has the right taste. They have several spice levels. Service was above average, and fast. I was checked on frequently. Price wise, it was a great value for the money. Highly recommended. I don't like to give bad reviews, but there were a few disappointing things about this place. All cards on the table, I love love love Boiling Crab, so this review does stack up to that standard. My friends and I came as a party of 8 at 7pm on Friday night. We called ahead to put our names down, so we had a table ready for us by 7 but this place is seriously understaffed. It took about 15 or so minutes for us to just decide to sit down because nobody would seat us. After we sat down, it probably took at least another 15 minutes for anyone to come by to take our order. The prices are comparable to Boiling Crab, maybe a little cheaper for the crab but the shrimp goes for $11/lb and the King Crab for $20/lb. There's also the option to get the headless shrimp for $13/lb, which I was told has 2 more shrimps than the regular option. I tried the pound of shrimp with the "Kick Me" sauce (medium spicy), chicken tenders, cajun fries, and a bit of the King crab. The fries and chicken tenders were good, the chicken comes with ranch and are huge pieces of fried chicken goodness. The cajun fries were fried well but barely seasoned. This seems to carry over to the sauce in the seafood because my shrimp bag barely had any flavor or seasoning. I'd recommend adding more spices and garlic to the sauce or something because it was rather bland. The crab legs on the other hand were extremely salty, but the flavor from the sauce was still missing. Eating here made me really miss Boiling Crab... Aside from the slow service and the missing kick from the sauce, I was satisfied by the end of the meal. Unfortunately, it didn't stand up to my expectations and I won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Honestly, this place could be better than Boiling Crab. I am so glad they opened in Riverside, no need for the 30 minute drive to satisfy my Boiling Crab craving! I am in love with their fries too, I think during my first week of visits I tried almost everything on the menu, and everything was AMAZING : ) The parking is spacious and the servers are very friendly and quick with the orders : ) You must try if you're visiting Riverside or are one of those UCR students that drive far just to get Boiling Crab. Amazing! I am still on cloud nine after tonight's dinner. I started going to The BC in Garden Grove about 10 years ago, the newer BC in Rowland Heights as well as The Claw in Garden Grove. I then moved to the IE about two years ago & decided to try Rockstar Shrimp instead of driving west, & I'm sooooo happy we did. Fresh big shrimp, cooked perfectly, & I loved the sauce! I actually prefer a thicker sauce, more garlic where BC is just too much butter and not enough Cajun seasoning for me. We will definitely be back, probably every day for the next week!!! read more

Not one to do this but I've tried many places similar & this one has to be definitely ZERO stars if it wasn't for Yelp. My boyfriend and I loved it! We were in Riverside dropping off an order to our customer, we so happen to stumble upon "The Rockstar Shrimp" so we decided to dine in. The waitress's there were so sweet and the service was GREAT. Our food came out about ten minutes after we ordered, we ordered a basket of cajan french fries, a 1/2 pound of shrimp, and a 1/2 pound of mussels. The waitress gave us a great portion of French fries, more than what we're suppose to get and as for the shrimp it was so delicious as well as the mussels . Great place to go eat sea food! read more

Don't get me wrong, the food is good (however, their rice could use some work) but the service here was subpar. Our server left before our meal was done and left our table with another server. Maybe he had somewhere to be? I don't know. Our new server didn't come back for our checks and when I took I it up to the register, she was on the phone and seemed like I was bothering her for trying to pay for my meal. Someone else in street clothes came in and hung out behind the counter chatting with the servers drinking his boba that made me jealous I didn't have one too. (That's beside the point and has nothing at all to do with my little rant) maybe he worked there too and was coming in to say hi to his coworkers on his day off? Again, I don't know. But at least do it on the other side of the counter or go around the corner where we can't see you or something. Our family seemed to enjoy the food regardless of the service anyhow. read more

Was wanting seafood and yelp led me here. Needless to say....i was impressed. Love the cajun spices and the everything cooked in a bag concept was something I had never had before. Had crab, red potatoes and corn and it was amazing. Dont wear anything you dont want to get spices on as you eat with your hands and it can get messy. Will be back!!! read more

Hmmm I didn't really like this place, nothing like boiling crab no booths no writing on the walls feels like I'm in a regular restaurant. We order the mix bag which was pretty cool to have it mix with calm,mussel,&shrimp. It was one pound but didn't feel like one pound.... we also add half a pound of sausage which was horrible! It had this really bad after taste... They have only one sauce to choose from and you can adjust the heat. We also got the fries... And no it was no good. What I hated the most was a cockroach appear on our table around our food good thing we didn't want to finish it no more. I came here thinking i would actually like the food and let me tell you boy was i wrong. I figured what could go wrong with white rice, fries, and some shrimp?! The rice was over cooked and sticky, the fries were also overcooked and almost burned, and the shrimp well...the spices didn't make the shrimp taste good at all. The spices clumped to the shrimp making it hard to eat and the shrimp were dirty. Gross!!! Is it bad i dont remember what the service was like considering i was so dissapointed about my food? This place is decent place to go if you want some Seafood. If you compare their sauce to boiling crab the flavoring is off by a bit but the spiciness is legit. The portions are about the same. The only reason I would ever come here again over boiling crab is the customer service and the distance. Other than that I would take boiling crab over this. read more

I guess its been about 2 years since I've been here, what a drastic difference. Such a big disappointment to what it used to be. Flavor of the shrimp is still okay but the sides are terrible (except for the fries). Ordered wings it was super dark, looked refried and they sprinkled a ton of sugar on there. THANKFULLY ONLY ordered a half a pound of "sausage" since their "sausage" was a steroid sized ball park hot dog that you can buy in a package at Stater Bros. for like a buck. Super salty and extra processed "sausage". Also, ordered a pitcher of beer and it only accommodated about a cup and 1/4 for 3 people. Prices went up to $11/lb for the shrimp. And the workers just don't really seem to care and check up on you. This used to be my go to shrimp joint in the IE. I've been dying to try this ever since I've been buying boba next door, but I'm always skeptical about my seafood cause apparently riverside doesn't look like a place close to the beach. I'd always go to crab hut down in SD on convoy, but I was desperate, so my friend and I gave this place a try and let me tell you.. It was okay, but its not as good as crab hut, kickin crab or boiling crab.. As I've said.. I'm really picky with my food. i ordered fries clams, fries, chk wings, and a pound of mussels with sausage and potatoes. First of all, the fries clams was really delicious! It's good when its freshly hot and ready for you. My friend didn't like it cause she thought the fried clams were going to be cooked.. The fried clams were actually still raw inside. Now, for the fries, those are a must cause with one order you can share it with atleast 4 people. It was only two of us, so we didn't finish all of it. After that we got the wings, the wings were untouched.. They weren't really that great because they tasted really plan without the ranch.. They should really fix those. Last but not least my 1 pound of mussels came. I was excited. When i opened it i was disgusted cause they looked really dirty. It seems like they do not clean their clams cause i found some hard seaweed in between the clams and i had to take it out myself. I also found a dead mini crab in one of the mussels stomach. ): ahh. I didn't mind ,but everytime I was going to eat one I had to make sure it was clean to eat. Next time I'm going to try clams or crawfish. I don't think I'll ever order the shrimp because they don't clean out the shrimps poop. I never eat shrimp unless its cleaned all the way. Like i said I'm really picky with my seafood. Oh amd the sauce, lets not forget the sauce now. I ordered the holy moly and it wasn't spicy at all, so I'll probably get like xtra xtra hot next time. The sauce needs for work because when I tasted it it tasted really bland. Wasn't sure if its cause I'm a smoker, but I don't have any problems at crab hut when I order spicy hot. First time trying cajun seafood. A lb of shrimp and a Lil mix of everything was $11. Cajun fries are $4, rice is $2. I would recommend the shrimp only bag since it came with a bit more than the Lil mix of everything. They charge 50 cents for cc transaction if you're under $15. It was really good!! The middle one wasn't that spicy... wish it was hotter. But it was kinda salty which I think that's what cajun tastes like. The shrimps are pretty big. read more
