In June of 2005 we relocated from Novato, to Grass Valley California. Both my wife and I had just retired and it was our plan to retire to the foothills. We put our house on the market and it sold in the first weekend and the buyer wanted a 28 day close. To say that we weren't ready was an understatement. We had not even started to pack. We contacted Rocky's Moving and told Rocky of our problem. He was very understanding and said that he could move us out and into our new home and quoted a price that we felt was very reasonable. During our packing we found that we needed wardrobe boxes which we didn't have. We contacted Ricky and he supplied enough boxed for all our hanging clothes. On the day of the move Rocky and his crew arrived at the scheduled time and were very courteous and professional in packing our belongings, taking extra care with the more fragile of items. On the next day our belongings arrived at our new home and Rocky and crew started unloading and unpacking our furniture. They took extra care bringing items into the house so as not to damage either the furniture or the house. The whole process of moving was completed in a timely and proficient manner. We are very happy with Rocky's Moving and his crew for the friendly and professional way that they moved our belongings the 125+ miles from Novato to Grass Valley. ROCKSTARS! Rocky, Mike and their crew handle difficult moves at a fair price. 1000 lb. Spa We had an 8' x 8', 1000 lb spa delivered that had to be moved up-hill, three stories and lifted onto a deck. Three other companies came to reivew the project (spa companies and moving companies) and they all said this move simply could not be done. Rocky and Mike said we will figure it out! They calculated the move from the delivery truck offload to a fancy pully system that worked to move the spa safely up the hills over a long distance. They persistently committed themselves to this project working through the rain and into the night. This was a very difficult move; they impressed all of my family and the neighbors too! Oversized Furniture In another move, I had an 8' x 8', one-piece Asian bookcase that had to be moved outside uphill two flights then moved inside with barely a 1" clearance. In otherwords this was a heavy, delicate and precise move. Another moving company came to do the job; they complained the whole time and the move did not happen. I was referred to Rocky and Mike who came and jumped into the project with enthusiasm, humor, professionalism, efficiency and great carefulness. Pricing and execution were excellent. I appreciate the value added: they loaned us boxes, paper and wardrobes. (BTW, Rocky nailed the number of boxes we needed as well as his estimate to load the truck.), the disassembly/assembly of furniture, etc., their patience with my indecision as to the room in which to place the boxes as well as my failure to label the boxes by room. (I have never used professional movers, so my focus was finding what was in the boxes. I had assumed that everything would just be unloaded into the garage. There was one inexpensive heater got a ding/big dent. I have not found any other breakage or scratch. The crew worked really hard. I can't fathom how they do this day in day out. (Maybe they don't work quite that hard as we had a LOT of books and OVER LOADED boxes.) The crew never a complained to us. A gentle chiding maybe. I don't understand how they can be so cost effective. I speculate that it's related to experience and the number of years in business. I love that we could return all the materials to Rocky for future multiple reuses instead of trying to squeeze the materials into our recycling bin. read more

Rocky's Moving Company is AMAZING!!! We strongly recommend using Rocky for your move. Everything arrived in A+ condition. His team was efficient, helpful, and very understanding. They packed up our home and moved all of our stuff into our new place in one day. Not only were they careful with our furniture, but they also moved a few pieces into different places after we changed our minds to where things were to go. I don't know of another company that would have tolerated this. The best part of Rocky's Moving Company was that he kept the cost down by re-using cartons from previous moves. These cartons were in excellent, clean condition. He also supplied moving tape and packing paper free of charge! Not only were we able to have unlimited cartons delivered to our door, but we felt good about saving the environment from wasting boxes. In fact, after our move, we were able to return the boxes to Rocky, and he picked up everything free of charge. What more could we want? I have used Rocky's Moving Company twice and I can't say enough good things about Rocky and his team. I originally found Rocky because I needed to move a very valuable 1911 piano and a friend subsequently recommended him to me. We had two very difficult moves, the first coordinating and consolidating two homes and a huge storage container into one house and the second move to a home in Belvedere with very difficult stairs and access. They were both brutal moves and Rocky's team not only took care of my things in a very professional manner the guys were also extremely pleasant to work with. I then had to move a 9' by 4' piece of beveled, tempered glass down the same flight of stairs and when the glass delivery guy decided he couldn't handle the task I called Rocky. Rocky spent an entire day building a trough in order to get this very heavy glass dining room table top into our house. I don't think there is anything they can't handle. Unfortunately we will be looking at another move in a few years and of course Rocky will be my first call. read more

OK, FINALLY ! I should have done this review on May 12, 2017, when Rocky's Moving took us from our castle in Larkspur to a new palace near Sacramento. Notice the five stars? Oh, do. Rocky's Moving deserves 55 STARS, in my humble opinion. Hmmm. ME humble? Hah. But back to the point, when moving time rolls around again, you can be sure that Rocky's shall be the one whom I shall phone. These gentlemen were simply the tops, the bee's knees, the cat's meow, the doggie's bow wow. It just happens that I rarely, next to never, award five stars--uh, unless it's something that ** I ** do; in that case five stars are automatic. Anyhooooo, notwithstanding my usual hesitancy to do a five star rating, I happily am giving Rocky's the top score possible. When you consider having a moving experience, you WANT Rocky's, period. I saw a negative review a sec ago, and I'm shocked. I'm sorry that the writer was not enamored with My All-Time Favorite Movers; I'm sure his less than stellar experience was an anomaly. I've moved with Rocky's Moving Company four times over the past 5 years. I wouldn't move with anyone else. Often times, Rocky is the one that comes to estimate my move before the actual move date. Because of how often I move I've come to know a few things about him.. he's a Marin native and has been in the business for over 20 years. I trust him because he knows what he's doing. When I was first considering hiring a professional moving company, I wasn't sure that I could afford it after receiving quotes from a few big name companies. However, as a young single woman, I have found Rocky's prices to be extremely competitive. I own a few antiques, and his employees are especially careful with them. I have never had any damages of furniture. I like Rocky's Moving Company because it's also a family company. On my most recent move, Rocky's son was on the job! From 3rd story Victorian flat in San Francisco to a stop in Petaluma to drop a sofa, and then on to Occidental to 2 different buildings. So a crazy number of steep stairs with a lot of furniture and stuff. It also involved taking apart beds, sofa legs, and vintage armoire, even a door, and then putting back together after the move. Also safely rotated an antique square grand piano which probably weighs as much as a VW bug. Rocky also alerted me that you need a temporary parking permit from SFMTA to get parking spaces for the move. MTA did a good job too! This is the 3rd time we've used Rocky's, and the crew has always been fun to work with even though you are moving. I highly recommend them! read more

Rocky's just moved us yesterday for the second time! We moved into a temporary 3 (!) story tiny 2-bedroom from a 2,100 s.f. house. I was so worried about packing and storing half of our belongings for a family of 5. Rocky amazingly delivered the exact amount and type of boxes/tape we needed and arrived on-time for our move. I'm getting to this a bit late as we moved in late August but better late than never! These guys are amazing. We moved on the two hottest days of the year and it was miserable but these guys moved us carefully, efficiently, on budget and with huge smiles on there faces. I called Rocky's Moving last Friday morning to get a quote for moving a 7' x 7' Hot Tub (780 pounds). The day before, our contractor informed me that he thought the tub was too heavy to move for his crew, and I had an Electrical Contractor scheduled to come Friday afternoon to hook it up. Rocky came by that morning to inspect the site, offered a reasonable quote, and his 4 member crew moved the Hot Tub in 35 min that afternoon... with no issues.
