Very nice staff! Great value for a meal too!! We had breakfast for 4 people and the bill was about $35!! Crazy! The portions were not small either! I had scrambled eggs, home fries, and homemade corn beef hash. It was really good. It's a place you might drive by and never notice but it is worth checking out!!

In a state with plenty of delicious breakfast options, it can be hard to choose just one. Rodd's has quickly grown into a favorite of mine with just how QUICK everything is. For starters, you walk right in and pick your own table; no need to wait for someone to seat you. I have always been greeted right away, had my drink and breakfast order taken care of, and then received my food piping hot and delicious! The home fries are absolutely to die for, crispy and seasoned right off the griddle. The portions are generous and the food is clearly made fresh; no frozen food here! I will say I much prefer their breakfast options to lunch options, as I did find a chicken wrap I got here once to be quite bland. I truly can't rave enough about the speed of this place. I really hate waiting for over 20 mins just to get a table for breakfast, and this happens quite a lot at other comparable breakfast places around. Rodd's may look small on the outside, but there is plenty of seating on the inside and I've never had to wait. No hangriness here!!

Late review, we were in last Saturday, 8/22/15. 1st timers to Rodd's Restaurant. My wife ordered the Breakfast Club sandwich, I went with the Meat Lover's Omelet. We both thought our breakfasts were decent, although the home fries could've used a bit of seasoning, they were bland tasting. Service was very good, we certainly would come back in the future.

The outside of their flavorless burger is burnt and tough while the inside still had raw spots.

Went to Rodd's based on the reviews and how this restaurant has over 1 star is beyond me. This review isn't about the service, which was the saving grace, the complaint is about the food quality and the restaurant itself. I came on Saturday 13th at about 12:50pm. A little over an hour before business closing time, plenty of time to eat without rush. Sat down and noticed a few fruit flies or some sort of flying bugs doing their bug business around the table, ok maybe they're just looking for shelter in this cold day, right? Well I managed to kill a couple. Management maybe is used to hearing people clapping to kill the bugs because no one came to apologize for the nuisance. The menu itself had an amazing selection and I was eyeing the stuffed burgers they offer. I ordered the Mac and cheese stuffed burger, fries, coffee, and water. The bugs still flying around, some more clapping to kill another one, rinse and repeat once more till the order started to arrive. Everything got better after that, right? NO First to arrive was the water. I guess I can't complaint much about it, it's water. But it just tasted a bit off, maybe they don't use a filter for the water they serve for drinking, maybe they do have one but it definitely needs changing. Whatever, it's water. Next. Next item to arrive is the coffee. I drink my coffee black with no sugar, and this coffee was just AWFUL. This coffee tasted like it has been left sitting unattended and unchanged for a while. It was so bad I decided to drink the crappy water instead. Go figure. Bet it can't get worse than this once I get my burger. I was wrong again. Flying high and mighty, along with the bugs, was red flag number 3. The burger arrived and it managed to somehow be both overcooked AND undercooked. Right as I received it, I noticed the burnt, charred edge and sides, took a bite and had to pick out some of the STILL raw pieces near the middle. Another closer inspection and their version of "Mac and cheese stuffed burger" is just pasta mixed with whatever type of cheese that was, roll it into a ball and place it inside low quality meat. This burger had no flavor. Every bite had to be dipped in blue cheese just to taste some sort of passable flavor. The fries were half cooked fine and the other half was hard and dark from being fried too long. Those were also lathered in salt and pepper to get a hint of flavor. Decided picking out the raw parts of the burger wasn't worth the time anymore so I stopped eating just so at least I can finish my coffee but boy was I wrong yet again, MY COFFEE NOW HAD A FREAKING FLYING BUG IN IT! I've never felt so violated at a restaurant before, and I've been to Applebee's. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It was so bad, I had to create an account just so I can warn others to avoid this place like the plague. I will say my server were fast, attentive, and overall the best part of the visit. She deserves to work at a better place. It's not the servers' fault their boss doesn't care about the business. I paid and decided to have a much better meal across the street at Wings Over. And just so this review doesn't seem fake (I'd have a hard time believing some of the details myself too), I took some pictures. Never again. 1 star out of 5 because it can't get a lower rating.

First visit. Breakfast was great! I had the homemade corned beef hash with eggs ... yum! My wife had the ham scramble and really liked it. The coffee was also very good and tasty. This is a cozy little place with plenty of booths and a number of counter seats. The staff was very friendly and very efficient. One mjnus. The men's room was fairly clean but pretty grunge and probably has not been deep cleaned or updated in years. read more

Best. Bacon. Ever. Is that not enough for you?? GO!! Ok... I'll tell you more. Rodd's is a cute little diner, always packed on weekend mornings. They serve breakfast and lunch only, and close at 2pm every day. The food is good, service is fast and friendly. I love places where I can order a single pancake. The omelettes are good too, and the muffins are moist and delicious. read more

Been coming here for years, so much so that most of the waitstaff actually knows my order. All the workers here are super friendly and always fast. I've never been her for lunch, only breakfast, but I've never had a bad meal. read more

Definalty one of my favorite places. Have been going there for breakfast for at least 20 years. The same smiling waitresses have been there for years, and its nice when they all know your name and ask how your family is. Service is always fast and food is always good. We had breakfast yesterday, 10/21/2015, and were very satisfied. The service was fast and friendly, the food was perfectly cooked (we both had eggs over medium), and the portions were just right! The best part, the breakfast specials are very reasonably priced. We were visiting the area and would definitely return to Rodd's if we are in the area in the future. We had breakfast the previous day at the Applewood Restaurant, but we would recommend Rodd's over Applewood. read more

This is our go to breakfast place. Great food, friendly attentive staff. Love the breakfast sandwiches on a hard roll, biscuit and sausage gravy, pancakes. They've (somewhat recently) changed the breakfast potatoes, not my fav, anymore. Not sure if they've added ketchup or Tabasco, but I don't like either. Recently had lunch here for the first time and we were just as pleased with the food as we are with breakfast. Stuffed burger, turkey club, good fries. read more

Best place around for breakfast and very reasonably priced! Quality food that comes out super-fast! Great coffee with friendly staff (the kind that remember you and your name...) that are always quick to refill it! Kid friendly providing crayons and kid placemats for coloring! It's a diner so some of the complaints on here don't make sense. But it's a good diner, don't believe them. They have options and good options at that. Place is fairly busy, but service is quick. Had a Polish Breakfast and it was delicious. When going to a diner, you're looking for options, service and cheap. This checks them all. read more

This place not only exudes friendly, family atmosphere, it has the best breakfast my husband I have had, in a long time. The portion size is very filling. Cooked to perfection. The home fries were absolutely amazing. You don't wait to long for service or food. Seriously, if you want an absolutely delicious and filling breakfast....check this restaurant out. I have been in customer service for almost 40 years and these people know how to treat their customers!! read more

My first time. Went with a friend for breakfast at 8:45. Not busy. Our orders came at lightning speed all was great. The waitress was very nice,kept checking our coffee. We stayed just talking for over an hour, and no one rushed us out...it was great!! The best part though9which doesn't exactly speak to the service at Rodd's], but some one[unknown to us] paid our check!! read more

I have no idea where the low stars are coming from, but this place has a GREAT breakfast! I ordered the eggs benedict, which came with 2 eggs bene and home fries. I couldn't even finish it. I was really good. My fiance ordered chocolate chip pancakes. Everything the rest of our party ordered was great. Our food came out very quick, considering it was a busy Sunday morning, about 10-15 minutes. read more

I must confess. I made a huge mistake. I saw a line at Rodds, was hungary, so I made the mistake of going to Applewoods. NEVER AGAIN! Waited 45 min for our food and then it came out cold and my eggs weren't cooked the way i asked. Couldn't eat it ... Just paid the bill and went back to Rodds!! Again, at Rodds, the staff is great and the food is perfect!! Definitely well worth the wait!!! read more

Best place to go in the area, I usually go at least once a week! Hearty breakfast is usually the way to go (for the full experience) but the stuffed burgers are definitely another favorite (the breakfast burger is a bacon egg & cheese omelet inside of a huge hamburger) read more

I ordered scrambled eggs. They arrived overcooked, browned, flat like an omelet. When I ordered hash browns, waitress said they were patties. Like frozen patties? Not even home made? Coffee was fresh, wait staff nice. They charged me extra for Italian bread toast. Huh? read more

Idk how this place is still serving what they call "breakfast". Between the very poor cleanliness and bad service, I saw the gentleman cooking my food wasn't wearing a hair net and the hair on his face was almost as long as the hair on his head. Food didn't even look appetizing. Just look at how nasty the salt and pepper shakers are when you sit...in a booth that is sure to have crumbs all over it. Brought my girlfriend because I used to eat there when I was younger. Idk who they paid for a good health review but I assure you it's false information. Sorry but I'm just being honest. read more

Local diner with a great breakfast. Very good home made corned beef hash, eggs Benedict and my new passion, sausage gravy & biscuits. Never had it before I tried it there and I love it. Our quick service will have you in and out in no time or stay and enjoy the newspaper, TV or WI-FI. 5 different varieties of eggs benedict, home made sausage gravy over biscuits, huge omelets, Crepes plain, with fruit or stuffed. Home made soups. Daily specials Over 30 stuffed burgers on our menu. 8oz juicy burger stuffed with anything from cream cheese and jalapeños, bbq sauce, bacon, onion and cheddar cheese, buffalo chicken , even peanut butter to name a few. Fun, friendly staff that have been serving our customers for over 37 yrs!!

History

Established in 1988.

Rodd's was opened in 1988 By Rodd and Gina Legnani of Southington. Rodd a Mechanical Engineer and Gina was a student in The School of Radiology in NB. They still have most of the original staff. After they separated they stayed friends and worked together for the next 24 yrs. Due to a brain injury in 2012 Gina retired from her Xray career of 25 yrs and bought the Restaurant from Rodd, taking over the family business and keeping it going while helping Rodd rehab from his injury.

Meet the Business Owner: Gina L.

I am a 46 yr. old mother of 4. Two of my adult children work at the restaurant with me along with their careers in other professions. I am a recently retired X-ray tech, giving me more time to concentrate on the restaurant and my family. Although I always had my part in the business Rodd did most of the hands-on work, so some of this is new to me. I am always happy to learn something new and spend a lot of evening hrs. watching "Restaurant Impossible" I am an honest and loyal person dedicated to everyone and everything I care about. I love my staff and enjoy talking to my regular customers and meeting some new ones too.

A must try ! Service is always good we have always been able to get a seat and the staff always super friendly . Great service , They got us seated , ordered , served and out the door in about an 1hour . Overall 5/5 again great food , great service and great ambiance the whole place is always decorated and I loved the added lights over the ceiling !

We had a group of 6 so had a 20 minute wait, not sure if they take reservations. If we had a smaller group I think we would have been sat quicker. Sunday mornings they only serve breakfast. Lots of great choices on the menu. Everyone enjoyed what they'd gotten. Prices were somewhat inexpensive and they had some interesting options I'd like to have in the future. Absolutely will come back.

While my car was being serviced at a nearby dealership this morning, I had the pleasure of stopping by this charming diner for breakfast--and I'm so glad I did. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with no wait to be seated, which made for a relaxing start to the day. The breakfast menu was impressively full of classic favorites and a few unique options.
