This was my favorite Mexican restaurant as of a few years ago before I moved out of the area. I was excited to go back after having moved back close recently only to be underwhelmed. The trio fajitas comprised of 3 thin strips of steak, a few strips of what appeared and tasted like bland, unseasoned chicken and maybe 4 or 5 tough shrimp. All of this for the low low price of $34. To be fair, i did give them another chance about a month after, hoping that possibly this was an off night. Unfortunately, it appears that is what you get anytime... all the time. Very disappointed especially given the premium price. The staff are still very nice though which is good at least if you're wanting to try it. read more

I have been to Rodeo at least a handful of times before this time. Usually at least a year in between because every time I have come here it's just not been good. I didn't like the chips and salsa which is always a deal breaker at any Mexican restaurant. The food just wasn't that great and there are so many choices in the area to go to a place that isn't great. Okay so that's the past. Our family went today cause our kiddo got a free kids meal at school and wanted to go so we came. Best experience thus far, I've been coming here since at least 2016. I had the POLLO DEL MAR and it was amazing!! The tortilla seemed to be home made and omg so freaking good! Our waitress was kind and quick to service our needs. It was smokey for some reason but there were more people in this place that I've ever seen. Lots of kids from my son's school, good marketing tactic!! Love authentic music playing at Mexican restaurants. So all this to say if it's been a minute since you've tried this place definitely try it again. I'm doing 4 stars because I'm being skeptical. If I come again and it's as good I will give it a 5. read more

We have been here two times and both times have been lovely. They have great service, the food always comes pretty quickly, they also have frozen drinks which are delicious. They also give you a free queso with your chips and dip which is so nice. read more

My daughter and I ate here today on Cinco De Mayo, and there was only a 15-minute wait for a table. The waitress was friendly and quickly took our drink orders, water for my daughter and a Modelo Michelado especial for me, delivered in a frozen glass! Then she brought us chips, salsa, and a queso dip while we looked over the menu, the queso and salsa was delicious but not spicy. I ordered the California burrito, my daughter ordered carnitas, she nearly finished and was full. I finished half of the burrito and was full. I will definitely be back! read more

What a great little find out here in Basehor. Would not have stopped in if I hadn't seen the 4.5 stars on here. We just were passing through and didn't want to wait to eat. Outside did not look near as nice as the place going in. Big comfy booths on perimeter and tables with a cool looking bar with sports playing on TVs. Ordered the Fajita special and it was amazing and lots of food for the money. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, black beans were excellent. Everything was homemade from flour tortillas, corn tortillas, chips, and salsa. Husband had a taco, enchiladas and these were house made as well, the enchilada sauce and tortillas that is. We were very pleased with our impromptu lunch. The margaritas looked amazing in frosted glasses and large! We didn't try them but boy did I want one afterwards. Had a great family dinner at Radio. Small little place tucked into a strip mall, but once inside you feel like family. Met with so many baskets of chips, queso and salsa that we were actually half full before we ordered. Portions are HUGE including the margaritas and massive steins of modelo. They go all out on a bday too, with the full sombrero and sopapilla. The only miss was the homemade flour tortillas that crumbled and dissolved under the weight of our fish tacos, and with the massive fajita plate. Overall, worth the drive! read more

3 out of 5 meals were messed up and one of the successful meals was a kids burger so I can't compliment that in the slightest. the beef fajita salad was a plate of iceberg lettuce with a raw, singular tomato slice, one slice of raw green bell pepper, and two singular slices and rings of onions with a half a cup of beef with a side of cheese dip and guacamole. Definitely not worth money paid. the Chalupa was actually tostadas that were soggy and cold, and did not include all of the side dishes it advertised to come with The kids taco, was a beef burrito that of course our three year old threw a fit over because it wasn't a normal taco. service wise, the kids food came out last and even if you speak Spanish, the staff still got more than half of our requests wrong. Want to get way off the beaten path in the Greater Kansas City area for what I can only call some unique Mexican dining? No, WAY OFF the path. Yep, tiny little Basehor, Kansas, a town that's almost like a second thought. Something you drive through to get somewhere else, clearly commuter living, scattered country town that's trying to exercise some business muscle with franchises and local joints, and, well, not necessarily looking so impressive. But... people are here. Guessing cost of living is a lot lower that more metropolitan areas. I digress. Rodeo could probably be called unusual in that it's not one of the 100 or so more traditional street taco joints in KCK & KCMO. Nope, they're doing their own thing here and honestly, I have no idea what to call this food other than Mexican influenced. Lots of seafood, but unusual twists like my shrimp stuffed avocado that was deep fat fried into a round ball filled with cheese. Frankenfood of sorts, but that taste! Yep, whoever is in the kitchen has some magic. The fajitas come to your table almost on fire and sizzling enough to make a real show of it all. Eating with your eyes as well as taste buds? You're in for a treat. Portions, predictably, enormous, yet priced affordably. But wait, nope, Mexican grandmothers are not rolling over in their graves--those refried beans were just fine. Not easy for a place to be riding over 4 stars after this many Yelp reviews. The interior is nothing to write home about, but the service was spot on, food was out and on the table quickly and nothing amiss. Folks here were eating it up and loving it. My family has been raving about this place for months. I don't live in Kansas anymore and they took me on my last visit. I love fish and shrimp tacos so I opted for the fish tacos. They are served on corn tortillas and with a cabbage and cheese garnish and a tangy sauce. I will say, I didn't eat the tortillas, one because I tried to pic the taco up and the bottom fell out. Now upon further inspection of the second taco, they place two tortillas overlapping and that just doesn't work when trying to pic them up. However, I was very full off chips and eating the contents of the taco only was all I could handle anyway :) My mother and aunt got the fried avocado. I should have opted for it because it was SO good and that's the exact item my whole family had been talking about non stop. Next time I definitely will go for the deep fried avocado stuffed with shrimp!! read more
