This review for February 18th. I will say I was originally annoyed because they were only accepting cash at the moment (I don't carry cash) and the young lady waited to tell me until after I placed my order. I wanted to try this place, so I went ahead and went around the corner to the nearest credit union to grab cash. I truly wanted to support this business, and I actually did enjoy what I ordered. Two piece catfish with three shrimp and a strawberry cinnamon roll cake. This meal came with three large sizes of shrimp and the fish was seasoned well and tasted great. To my surprise, I did not know that the cake was a cinnamon roll cake when looking at it, but it was also a nice portion for the dessert, and it was flavorful for sure. In the future on my next Dallas visit, I'll definitely be giving them another visit.

This place is tiny, so don't blink or you will miss it. I don't live in the area. On the way back home from being at the dealership in Arlington, I decided to stop since I was on 20 and as it was one of my Yelp bookmarks. It's to the left of the donut shop. I ordered the catfish 4 piece basket at $16+. It came with fries and a piece of bread. The fish and fries were cooked to order and well seasoned. To the gentleman in the back who prepared my order, you are appreciated. I have to be honest, I am usually focused on the food, but there are times when you simply have to look at other factors that go into the particular dining/ take out experience. The customer service needs improvement. Sometimes it doesn't matter how good the food is, if you don't get treated kindly/fairly in order to get the food, it can be a deal breaker. The young lady behind the register was talking to someone sitting at one of the tables. She clearly wasn't eating but having a conversation via speakerphone, making it a three way. I am a new customer and trying to ask questions and I pretty much had to compete with the threesome. Mind you, I am taking pictures and asking questions about food items and I said specifically said to the cashier, that I was doing a review on the establishment...maybe my work ethic only, but I definitely would have been on point. She could have cared less. An maybe this added to me being vexxed, but the lady that ordered right before me, asked about an extra sauce. She wanted another, and asked if there was a charge and the lady said, "No." She even went further to say, "You want some peppers?" I am not sure why her money was no good there but mine was. I went outside to get in my car to take a picture and noticed there was only 1 half full tartar sauce contained for 4 pieces of fish.....my head turned sideways. So, I walked back in and said, "Can I get another sauce, there is only one and I ordered a 4 piece?" Understanding it is a business to make money, I had $1.50 in my hand. The cashier held out her hand to take the money and I am like, "How much is it?" I'm like in my head, you gave that other lady sauce for free and you even offer her pickles but you don't even tell me how much each container is before putting your hand out? She says, $1 something..." I gave her a $1.25, she handed me 2 containers and I left. All I am saying is, if you have paying customers asking legitimate questions about the business, they come first before personal interaction. One tartar really isn't enough for 4 pieces of fish in my opinion and it does make a person feel some kind of way when they witness other customers getting additional sauces and peppers for free. I have tried other establishments who do add two sauces and pickles and peppers are included without having to ask.

Yum!! They use REAL catfish!! Food was seasoned so good! Made to order and everything was bomb! These chicken wings are hugeee! In house made sauces and make sure to tell them what spice level you want because they have levels 1-10! The pictures on Yelp made it look like you would be going into a bar like restaurant, but it's actually a really cozy to go kitchen! They treat you like your family so don't get too crazy with them, but I loved the warm welcome feeling when I got greeted and while ordering. I got their 10 wings and fries! Raspberry chipotle and pineapple mango habanero were the flavors I chose which were very delicious! I'm a big eater and surprisingly got full off of eating 8 wings! When I tell you these wings are huge they are huge! The discount on the catfish filet while ordering other food tempted me to try it out and it was nicely fried and flavored! Can't wait to come back! Thank you so much the awesome visit!!!

As another reviewer stated, please do not be fooled by the unassuming facade. This is a takeout spot (no indoor dining) with a solid menu of fish, wing and dessert options. Super cute family-owned vibe with owners' kids selling shaved ice to one side of the restaurant. I stuck to an order of wings and fish since it was my first time and I have to say, this is the BEST fish and the BEST wings I've had this close to my place. Wings were tasty, and JUICY (not fried so hard there's barely any meat) and the fish was light and I loved the flavor. They make everything fresh to order and you can taste it! Seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly, Rod and family are doing everything right.

My dad had been telling me about Rod's Kitchen for a minute.. Since I found myself on this side of town, I had to see what the hype was about! I'm glad I did! Every bite was a burst of savory goodness. Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was top-notch as well. Bri was very conversational and welcoming with all the patrons waiting on their orders.

So happy this place opened up, since this intersection primarily consists of fast food chains. Love supporting local businesses in Oak Cliff. The chicken tenders were huge, see pic. The walnut brownie was also humungous, will take a couple sessions to finish. The lady working was beyond friendly. Order in advance if you do not want to wait. Excited to try more items, the next time we visit.

Listen....I literally have had this spot bookmarked for over a year & we finally decided to head out that way. Since it was the weekend after the holiday, I called 2 confirm they were open. We set out & located em with no issues. We walked in & were greeted right away & able to browse the menu....we walked up 2 the counter & asked our questions & then placed an order....I swear ...e'erytime the lady gave us the total & my lady was getting ready 2 pay....my eyes & peeped something else behind the counter lol....they sell sno cones, homemade desserts, homemade "kool-aid " like drinks, kool-aid pickles & homemade pickles.....the phat kid in me had my eyes going like a kaleidoscope lol....we ordered the 8pc wing basket & I added a catfish filet, my lady got the "swamp thing" kool-aid drink. We paid & copped a squat & chit chatted it up. I will say, based off their availability...I'm guessing they real deal prep fresh daily...I appreciate & respect that!!! We wait 4 a minute 4 our food but was just chillen. I didn't really like the wait...but I respected the wait due to them having to take care of something important...so it was cool!! Both workers were very apologetic & cool AF!! We got our food...said our blessing & went in....the food was seasoned to perfection & the homemade tartar sauce had a lil kick but it had great flavor!! Yoooooo....the food was a plus & well worth the wait!! We'll definitely be back!!

They can't do all flats! Ridiculous. They are getting low stars for that and they gave me a half of piece of chicken in order. The chipotle raspberry taste great thought

The flavor is quite delicious and is combined of all the sauces together. This was definitely a good pick for me and my Mom to try. We both expressed our intention to return. My second son is not a huge fan of seafood and complained that the menu needed more non-seafood options. He had chicken strips. I had leftovers from my two pound seafood boil. After retrieving it from the refrigerator the next day, I noticed the "butter" had not solidified which is evidence that they serve oil instead of butter for dipping the crab and shrimp. Serve real BUTTER. No one wants oil.

I'm visiting from Ohio, and they wanted to make sure I experienced this hidden gem. From the outside, it's a quaint little house tucked along Belt Line Road, but the moment you walk through the doors, you're transported to what feels like a beautiful beach hut on a tropical island. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and unlike anything you'd expect. The food was absolutely phenomenal! We started with the Rockefeller Oysters and the Supreme Shrimp Nachos, and both were incredible. For my entrée, I had the blackened red snapper, and it was one of the freshest pieces of fish I've ever had--it honestly tasted like it had just been caught that morning. The service was just as impressive as the food. Every member of the staff was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely made us feel like family. Five-star service from beginning to end. The Cajun Kitchen has been here in the Red Bird area of Oak Cliff for 10 years and this was our first visit. Only open M - F from 11 - 5:30p, this is a busy place. Nearly everything is cooked to order. The Gumbo was terrific. I like mine with okra and peppers and onion that I can SEE and it didn't have that, but their smooth spicy dark roux was delicious. I counted 6 large perfectly cooked shrimp in my pint of Gumbo with some diced chicken and sliced sausage and little bits of ham. I also like garlic bread. But honestly, it's hard to be too picky with something this good! Pint - $10.99 Next time, I'll just get it to go and do what I want to it at home. Lol. We also had the posted special - the Catfish Special for $10.99 The Catfish is some of the best that I've had in awhile! The cornmeal is seasoned to perfection, then the fish is fried to perfection and gently cradled on a slice of wheat bread. Um hm. Wheat bread. OMG. Two perfect pieces were served with some AWESOME red beans and rice. I just wasn't feeling fries and a substitution was made for the most glorious red beans and rice! So very good. A can of soda or bottle of water is included. Whole pickled jalapeños are available for 59 cents each. Yes! Have to have some of those, too. I stuffed myself and then took the rest home. As did my husband. For whatever the dining room may have lacked in ambiance, it more than made up in a good time. The A/C was good, the tables were comfortable and the service was friendly, kind and helpful. There's plenty of parking. They have to go and pick up spaces for food out front. BTW There's both baked and fried fish and chicken which sounds amazing. I hope to try both!
