This place might have the worst volume control of any restaurant. I've never had to scream so much for the person sitting next to me to hear me. The spritzs were great and the pizza was delicious. You really cannot beat the happy hour price. But it gets crazy busy at happy hour time and even though I made a reservation for 530, we didn't get seated till around 545, So we had to order two drinks each right away to still get happy hour prices. Order the Pepperoni ($18) and get the Broccoli Rabe ($16) for something a little different. These pies are super satisfying and really delicious. I'm a huge fan of Rosemary's breakfast on the weekdays and been going to it for years. It's sensational and (secret fact!) has a different menu from their weekend brunch. Was psyched about this pizza spot opening. We ordered the snap pea salad, which is no match for the new restaurant Bocce USQ's incredible snap salad. For $15, Rosemary's snap pea salad is okay, but mostly air, vinegar and some peas. We also ordered the margherita pizza and the clam pizza. Both crusts were stand-out delicious. The margherita was 4 stars, nothing spectacular, but solid cheese and tomatoes and a great ratio of both. However, I'd give the clam pizza 2 stars - it's loaded with thyme, which overpowers everything, had hardly any taste of the clams. Had lemon on it that gave it a sour aftertaste. Kind of a mess. Roeys was good. I needed to grab a quick dinner after finishing a lesson downtown and they looked inviting and comfortable on a Monday night. There weren't any tables but there was space at the bar in the back. I often dine alone and get work done so I wasn't trying to make any friends but the bartender was friendly and helpful. I ordered the entree salad and the focaccia and whatever orange wine they had open. She said she didn't have an orange but offered a very satisfactory rosé. Food came out very promptly and was good. Not blow your mind great, but I also didn't order anything wild. I would have liked the bread to be more exciting though, if I'm honest. I have fond memories of my first restaurant job and getting herb focaccia to take home with me. The chicken breast I added to my salad was well cooked and not dry which is always a pleasant surprise. The back bar did feel a little tertiary to the warmth I saw through the window, almost like I was grabbing a quick employee meal, so not great. It was mostly empty though. I think the people who had been sitting there when I arrived felt like I'd invaded their space since I was the only other one there. The restaurant is pretty loud so I understand why the waiter made a couple mistakes. We started with old fashioneds, a cranberry juice for our son and the Riviera salad. Orange juice was brought out along with the wrong salad. The waiter apologized and brought back the correct items. The cocktails and salad were delicious! My son and partner shared the margherita pizza and I ordered a cheeseless margherita with mushrooms. The pizza was very good and one is definitely enough for 2 adults to share especially if you start with a salad. Overall we loved our dinner here, but we weren't happy to discover our bill because they had charged us for the salad we never ordered plus the salad we did order. Saturday night in the West Village, I was craving some brick oven pizza but didn't want to deal with the bridge-and-tunnel riff raff mob at John's on Bleecker (which in my heart of hearts is what I really wanted). We were seated outside, where they have both a covered outdoor area and sidewalk tables with heating lamps. We started off our meal with a great bottle of Valpolicella from their selection, antipasti misti - delicious bread and funghi - mix of mushrooms with roasted garlic, amazing with bread mentioned previously. It was hard to choose main courses, but we decided it was a pizza night. We got: margherita, which had the right amount of great tomato sauce and mozzarella; fall market, which gave major breakfast vibes with the egg and pancetta (greatly appreciated vibes if you are wondering). Roey's has really cool retro and happy vibes and interiors, but the food was sorely lacking. I ordered the cacio e pepe sandwich which did not taste like cacio e pepe. It was mediocre pecorino on top of a tomato between two loaves of bread. I left hungry and dissatisfied. The pancake was okay but a bit bland. The service was terrible. The servers asked how the food was before we even started eating. When they gave us the wrong receipt, they were very displeased that we had brought it to their attention and they spent the next ten minutes sulking and fixing it. (We love covid cautious restaurants!!) Now about the food....UNREAL!! We ordered the focaccia to start and it was gone in seconds! Perfectly warm and just the right amount of rosemary and salt. For our main course we shared 2 orders of the Dutch pancake and 2 pizzas. -Dutch pancakes: HEAVEN. The pancake comes in a cute little cast iron and it's topped with fruit and comes with a side of maple syrup. The pancake is really just like a perfectly fluffy cake. I was so full but had to keep eating it. - Margherita Burrata pizza: we added prosciutto and it was so simple and perfect! Each slice was topped with burrata and prosciutto. The crust is perfect. -Black truffle pizza: this pizza was a special and it was indeed SPECIAL!! I've had my fair share of truffle pizzas and this has to be the best I've ever had. It was just the right amount of truffle and not overpowering at all. As well as it wasn't oily at all because they didn't use truffle oil. I don't remember exactly everything on the pizza but there's was a couple types of cheese and fondue topped with black truffle shavings. No crumbs left behind. Service was great. The delicate squash pizza is what makes this review a 4 instead of a 3. It literally was like fall in my mouth. The warmth of the squash and the flavors were so good paired with the honey they give you on the side. This pizza warms you up like no other (especially with wine on the side). They do have happy hour but annoyingly another spot in the city where the specials are "at the bar only" even if your sitting 2 feet away from the bar. The inside is super cute and cozy. We also got the cauliflower appetizer which was so good and light, much different from what I've had before and the Brussels sprouts which I could do without. We were served immediately and the food for sure did not disappoint. Let me start off by saying you must try the broccoli rabe pizza it was incredible. It paired very well with the super Tuscan wine on the menu. We also ordered the chicken parm which was definitely good but not great. The chicken was a little hard to cut but the flavor itself was great nonetheless.
