    Pizza Margherita

As someone with a deep love (and admittedly high standards) for New Haven-style pizza, Lil Frankie's absolutely lived up to the hype. The Margherita was exactly what I want in a great pizza perfectly charred crust, fresh tomato, just the right amount of cheese, and simple ingredients that really shined. After an already amazing week in NYC, this was the perfect cherry on top. Sometimes you just need a really good pizza to close out a really good week, and Lil Frankie's delivered.

What a fine Lil' spot! We enjoyed the neighborhood and the outdoor seating's atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The food was excellent, particularly the spaghetti limon, prepared and seasoned with precision. The chicken parmigiana was quite flavorful, and the spaghetti with red sauce on the plate was equally strong. The spaghetti limon actually paired with the chicken parm quite well too. We were pleased to choose Lil' Frankie's from the many New York Italian options. The spaghetti Limon actually paired with the chicken Parm quite well as well.

Lil Frankie's is the kind of place that reminds you how special truly authentic Italian food can be. Everything feels so clearly homemade, from the sauces to the pastas, and you can tell there's real care and tradition behind every dish. The pasta was incredible--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Each bite felt like it came straight from a family recipe that's been passed down for years. The pizza was also a standout--simple, delicious, and done really well without trying too hard. The whole experience just felt warm and genuine, like you're eating somewhere that really takes pride in what they serve. One thing to know before you go: it's cash only, so come prepared. Definitely a spot I'll be thinking about.

Awesome pizza! We had a wonderful experience here. Fast friendly service, an interesting cool ambiance (we sat in the back area). But the food really is awesome, the pizza is so delicious!

Such a good spot!! Cutest design, very tight/intimate seating but a great place to catch up and open so late!! Their spaghetti Limone is something special & their desserts are crazy!!! Very kind and attentive service- will definitely come back when looking for a late night dinner

It was 1am on new year's day and following an enthusiast celebration of 2026, my friends and I were in the lower east side and very hungry. Lo and behold, Lil Frankie's is open and closes their kitchen at 2am. When we arrived, the place was packed, but we were immediately seated. Also to note: the place is cash only and does have an atm with a $3 fee.   We were started with bread and olives which very swiftly disappeared. Very tasty - does the job after a big night of drinking. I got the lasagna and a side of spinach. So good. Thank god for Lil Frankie's. We did ask for more bread to dip into the lasagna sauce - wow. Although the kitchen had just closed, we were lucky to have gotten a serving of tiramisu to share which was the absolute perfect ending to the meal.   I don't know if it was because I was drunk, but this meal was godsent. Thank you for being open late and thank you for making such hearty, tasty food!

Food here was delicious for brunch. I love a good eggs Benedict. We did the 3-4-1 mimosa deal which was good value & the drinks were definitely strong enough. We did have some tall people in our party that couldn't fit in the booths though but the service eventually relocated us to the main dining area with more room under the tables. Would definitely recommend coming here for drunch.

Pros: 1) The service was good 2) The spaghetti limone is good and one of the best in the city 3) Free bread is always nice - plus it was also tasty Cons: 1) Cash only 2) Still taxed despite being cash only. Interesting. 3) ATM on site only dispenses cash in $50 increments. 4) I did not use the ATM for that reason but I'm sure it has a fee associated with it. 5) Bathroom smelled like pee 6) No coat or purse hook in the bathroom 7) The ATM is basically 10 inches away from the bathroom door, so if someone is using the ATM, there is no room to exit the bathroom so you wind up standing in the bathroom until the person leaves the ATM 8) Prices are average to high for pasta and drinks 9) Small space and feels crammed with tables 10) I do not recommend groups over 4 coming here due to the small size Like I said above, I do like the food but there's just some annoying aspects about coming here that make me second guess coming back.

I have been to this italian restaurant for years and the food never misses; it always tastes like the first time I got to experience their food. It's a tight, intimate restaurant and in the evening then dim the lights which create a very calm space. Depending on how busy it is, the service is generally great. This is a must late-night dinner spot and they open until 2am everyday, 4am (Fri-Sat). Highly recommend for a date night or in the mood for some Italian.

Lil Frankie's is always a hit! Pizza is made freshly, the tiramisu was by far the best tiramisu I ever had. Finally tried their cocktails and had a cranberry vodka and it was delicious !

BEST PANNA COTTA EVER. You should come here just for that honestly, that made our night you have no IDEA. We came to eat around 8 and it was definitely very busy but luckily got seated right away at a table. It is extremely tight inside and loud but the atmosphere is fun, chatty and low lights. Very cozy too with the picture frames all over the walls and everyone being so close to each other. Our pizza and pasta were sooo good too and the sauce you could tell was homemade. This place is great for a reason!

I've been eyeing Lil Frankie's for a while, and I am glad we finally came for my bday! Initial thoughts: - Cash Only - Great for groups - Can be as casual as you'd like, or as fancy as you'd like! The vibes were there for it all. Service: - It was a bit busy, but I will say this took longer than I thought. It took long to place an order and to get the check. - The funny thing is that once we ordered the food everything came at once which was a bit of a problem since our table for 4 was not big enough and did not fit everything. Food: - SO YUMMY! - Some of the highlights were the Calamari, Pizza salame picante , and Rigatoni w/ meatballs. Come hungry and come with friends!

You can either take the stairs or the elevator. If you opt for the elevator, there's complimentary wine set up that you serve yourself. This would be great if the elevator took longer, but you are already there before you can finish pouring. I like that they have couches for you to sit at while you wait for your table. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. The energy felt great here. We ordered the cast iron focaccia and Tuna Tonnato. The Focaccia is probably the best I've ever had. It was light and airy and not what a traditional focaccia would taste like. The crust had a nice crisp to it. It was brushed with olive oil and finished with salt. Just perfect and highly recommend. It came with a tomato chili sauce, which tasted good, but was not needed for this. We ordered the tuna to pair with the bread and it was a great combo. I ended up ordering the hangar steak and it was good. Full of flavor and the chimichurri sauce was a nice touch. Though, I would have like the taste of the beef to come out more. The marinade overpowered the meat IMO. My wife got the Rigatoni alla Gricia. I like the pasta and it was bouncy, but the dish was too salty though. We ended the night with the basque cheesecake and I have to say that it wasn't my favorite. The texture seemed off. Normally basque cheesecake is smooth and creamy, but this was a little lumpy like when you over cook eggs in a dessert. Overall, the service was great and the vibes of the restaurant was on point. The food didn't blow me out of the water, but it was good. I would come back here for the focaccia though.

There are numerous locations now in the city but this was my first time going and I was definitely eyeing it for awhile. They do weekday lunch specials of $14 pastas, boozey weekend brunches for around $24/25(not including food), and $12 Sunday dinner specials on entrees as well as happy hours on weekdays from 4-7pm that include: $7 snacks, $8 wine, $5 beer, $9 spritzes, and $9 wells. I happened to come in for Labor Day Brunch on Saturday. We both said we were going to do unlimited but honestly could only finish about a pitcher of mimosa and they only charged us for the one pitcher was the nice part. I went with Carbonara Pasta and my boyfriend had the egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich with fries. I'm not gonna lie, I've never gone to aycd brunch and have not finished my food but I could not finish my entree it was so massive and filling. I haven't had a pasta this rich in ages and it was so so good and I am all for not having those skimpy little portions. He couldn't finish his sandwich either. I tried one of the fries and it was nicely battered thick cut wedge fries. Maybe I haven't been eating out alot lately but I was legit impressed. The staff was wonderful and thoughtful. The cafe in itself is very cute and Italian with black and white marble in the bathrooms, white marble bar top, hanging plants, interesting light fixtures. I'm definitely going to make a point to come back soon.

This means those dishes aren't truly gluten free for people with celiac disease or anyone who has to avoid gluten. When I pointed that out to my server, he just gave me a blank stare. I tried to explain why labeling those items as gluten free is misleading, but he seemed completely disinterested, even annoyed, dismissed what I was saying, and simply responded that the pasta is gluten free. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.

The interior was completely packed, and the noise level was high enough for my smart watch to complain. To sample a bit of everything, we shared two orders of focaccia, four pastas, and one dessert. HOUSE-MADE FOCACCIA - 10 Super bouncy with a bit of chew, this was probably the best focaccia I've ever eaten. It came generously drizzled with olive oil and alongside chopped peppers drenched in even more olive oil, which added a nice little kick. We highly recommend starting with this. TAGLIATELLE - 27 Out of the four pastas, this was my absolute favorite. I love the thin yet chewy texture of the tagliatelle, and the bolognese sauce was rich and hearty. Finished with just the right amount of Parmigiano, both the pasta texture and sauce were sheer perfection. PICI 'CACIO E PEPE' - 23 This was such a simple pasta, yet so delicious. It was incredibly creamy and cheesy, with hints of fresh black pepper flavor that blew standard at-home black pepper grinders out of the water. Despite it being the simplest pasta of the night, I enjoyed it immensely. RIGATONI - 32 This pasta was simple yet slightly innovative, featuring sausage paired with a broccoli-based pesto. There was a slight bitterness that was polarizing among our group. While this wasn't my favorite pasta, I appreciated the creativity. PERCIATELLI NERO - 35 This dish packed in more components than just pasta and sauce: plenty of crab, tomatoes, and crispy breadcrumbs on top. However, the combination wasn't very memorable. None of the flavors really stood out, and it was my least favorite pasta of the night. OLIVE OIL CAKE - 14 Served with a pile of golden raisins and fancy whipped cream, this ended up being a bit of a miss. The raisins were a bit too sweet, and the cake's texture was uneven -- some bites were soft and moist, while others felt dry. A couple of others in my group also felt the same way. Overall, I'd give L'Artusi a 4.5/5; it was mostly hits with a couple of misses. The pasta portions are quite small. Since each dish is primarily carbs and sauce, I'd imagine you'll likely need an appetizer or a pasta and a half to leave full. It just didn't separate itself from some of the other really good Italian restaurants I've visited. Service was great, the atmosphere was nice, and overall we had a very enjoyable dinner.
