This place is small, casual and a great place for cocktails, beer or wine. I love the casual ambiance, and the fact that they even let dogs in. The drinks are delicious (although a bit expensive) and stiff, and the wait staff and bartenders are very friendly. I really really want to love Rogers Park Social! I love the concept and I love the location. After multiple attempts, however, I have to admit to myself that they're just not meeting my expectations. Here's a few things that could be straightened to help RPS live up to its full potential: Cheese plate: terrible presentation. The size of the cheese portion is fine, but it looks ridiculous wrapped in plastic, and the tiny vending machine bag of smashed crackers is a joke. This looks like something you'd order on an airplane (and I'm talking Spirit). In my opinion, if you're going to do something, do it right. A small cutting board, better crackers, and just one tiny garnish like honey or jam would make this worthwhile. Bartenders: often rude. The first time I came here, I didn't know the ordering style, and I was yelled at by a bartender when I tried to order in the wrong place. Sorry! I've seen this happen to at least one person each time I come. They could try smiling or being polite to customers. Even when you do follow their rules, you might get eye rolls. "What do you want?" is not really customer service. Drinks: the cocktails are good, but the wait is excruciating. I go to plenty of craft cocktail bars, and I can't believe how long it takes to order, receive, and pay for a drink on a busy night here. Patrons: ok, I know this isn't the fault of the proprietors. However, when rating a bar, the crowd counts. From my experience, many people who come here take after the bartenders, and can be very rude and unwelcoming. Example: one crowded evening, I was walking through when a man reached out and accidentally elbowed me in the head. It was obviously an accident and not a problem, so I turned to him to smile and say "oh pardon me!" He made a threatening move at me like he was going to hit me, then turned to his companion and called me a bitch. Lovely! Oh, nearby bartender was oblivious to this situation that would have gotten out of hand if I hadn't quickly walked away. read more

Location wise, it's not for those looking to bar hop - there are only a handful of places nearby that are more bar than grill - but for locals looking for a casual and subdued night out it's rather ideal. Being a smaller establishment, Friday and Saturday nights will likely find patrons waiting longer for drinks than it takes to drink them. Seating is limited and prices are by no means modest; however, for a neighborhood bar it is ideal for locals. All I can say is I am glad I ran through the downpouring rain from Edgewater to Rogers Park for this place. I was meeting a friend for a "mom's night out" and thought it would be cool to venture out to the RP. I did my search on Yelp and discovered this place that had good reviews so I thought let's check it out! I was very impressed, It had this cool house party vibe to it and I went on a Sunday so it wasn't that packed-perfect! This was sorely needed in Rogers Park. The drinks are great, a little on the pricey side for this part of town but worth it,because they are really unique and well crafted. I can't believe this place is so close to me. I considered meeting my usual haunts in Edgewater but I really wanted to just try something new for once and I am so glad we did. And the music was not bad at all-I expected this divey bar type music that usually is not that great and mainstream,but they played pretty cool music including some indie international stuff which was from my part of the world (read:eastern european). This is my favorite bar in all of chicago. I come all the time and have yet to have a bad experience. The cocktails are fresh and fun, the atmospheric vibes are always good. And the best part- dogs are allowed! They even have dog treats by the entrance in case you need to make some new doggo frens while you are there. I recently hosted a bridal shower here in their side room and worked closely with Erik, one of the owners, to arrange the event. He was seriously the sweetest person to work with! He didn't even charge us to have our event there, and went out of his way to ensure that our party was special for everyone involved. I came in for one, but the selection is amazing, and the prices are more than reasonable, so I treated myself to a few. I was pleasantly surprised to walk in and see Wally juicing fresh fruit while the adorable Lionel is communicating with his patrons using sign language. The owner struck gold with this staff. They couldn't be any closer, unless they moved their bar, bottles, and beers to my living room. That's not why I love this place so much, though. The bartenders are so welcoming and are more than happy to suggest drinks based on your tastes and what you normally enjoy. The overall feel of the bar is very relaxed and comfortable. They display art from local artists, have signature cocktails designed by their bartenders so there is always something fresh and new to try and these cocktails don't cost an arm and a leg. Showed up on a Saturday afternoon, myself and my significant other were the only two patrons. Bartender was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks were phenomenal (mine had pop rocks on the rim). I don't like grapefruit, and I ended up with some kind of grapefruit vodka concoction. It was delicious. Like many other reviewers have stated, the drinks did take longer than I'm used to for preparation, but I also chalk that up to watching him use FRESH (like he sat their and squeezed the fruit) ingredients. I'll take quality over expediency any day. The space is mid-century/modern chic. The location is great! I walk by this place on a daily basis, I might have to stop in more often. The bartenders are friendly, and it is very convenient near the Morse red line stop. There is usually a food truck outside of it on the weekends, and the pizza man will usually walk in and sell pizza for 10 bucks! Be warned, however. This place gets PACKED during happy hour (5-7pm) and on the weekends. If you want to score a good seat, get there early. They do also reserve tables for larger parties. read more

A group of us came up here for a friend's birthday a few weeks ago. We loved it. They let her reserve a couch, so there was room for the 10 or so of us who were there. They had delicious cocktails. Things got SUPER busy later in the night and it was a little hard to get to the bar to get a drink. A few of us tried the margarita, which was really good (they add a shot in an inside out lime!) I came in on a Sunday afternoon with my sister for a drink before heading to the theater next door. Football was on the TV and there were quite a few patrons mingling, including a couple of dogs. Seems like a very welcoming spot with a lot of locals. We decided to take advantage of the make-your-own Bloody Mary bar, and it was an excellent choice as this was, hands down, the best Bloody Mary I have ever had. There are many craft vodkas to choose from. We went with the house vodka ($8), which the bartender said was excellent. He was not wrong. They offer a multitude of Bloody Mary mixers, ranging from vegetarian to spicy to some that are not vegetarian. I chose the Twisted Spoke and it was fantastic. There are many options to doctor up the mix, including Worcestershire sauce, many hot sauces, sea salt and ground pepper, and several brines (I chose pickle). Vegetable add-ons included different gourmet pickle spears (I recommend the spicy option), drunken cherry tomatoes, pickled okra and peppers, pearl onions, fresh artichoke and heart of palm. There's a platter with meat including salami and chorizo. Also big chunks of fresh delicious creamy cheese. And they had beef jerky sticks, which were homemade by another local purveyor. They were beyond fantastic. And of course there's fresh lemon and lime to finish off your creation. The bloodies come with a Miller High Life pony and some buttery popcorn. Did I mention the glass is rimmed with the most incredible blue cheese infused salt? There was so much to eat with this drink, it served as my lunch. And at $8, it was such a bargain. With friendly service, delicious drinks and an inviting atmosphere, Social is a greta place to hang out alone or with a group of your best friends. Feels dirty to not have reviewed Rogers Park Social yet. Came here for the first time the night after they opened, feel in love, and have never been disappointed yet. Perfect, chill, aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. The owners are super nice, the bartenders are prompt and friendly, the seating is diverse and comfortable. Weekdays are chill, weeknights are a perfect mix of active yet relaxing, while weekends are busy but the service and seating never suffers. The cocktail and beertail menu is insanely cheap (everything is under $10, I believe) and the beer menu has just enough on tap to stay interesting at excellent prices, as well. Wow! I love this place! It makes me want to move here permanently so it can be my local watering hole. When searching Yelp along the red line to find a bar to gather some graduate school friends, I found RPS. The reviews sounded great, so I messaged them to see if it would be a good place for my group. Erik, one of the owners, was a treat to work with! He made it so easy, so inviting and so fun. They put up a sign reserving a small section of the couch seating area for us. We ended up having nearly 25 people from our group come through the bar that night. The bartenders were so hospitable, friendly and helpful. The drinks were delicious! We even ordered in some food, which worked out really well. I did a lot of tasting of the menu that night and my favorite is the Alchemist (note that my current default drink is an old fashioned these days). After the group departed, there were 4 of us, and we each had a final alchemist and played a game. I would highly recommend Rogers Park Social whether you want a solo drink on your way out or on your way home for work, whether you are meeting a friend or two, or if you are looking to plan an inviting and fun small social gathering. I have a few more weeks in Chicago and I plan to be back at least once a week until I go home. read more

Definitely an amazing bar tucked away from the main road. The prices here are very reasonable. My favorite part is the atmosphere. It has a laid back style with a few televisions and different board games to play. So it's almost like being in your own living room with a bartender. I would say that RP social is hit or miss in terms of cocktails, with probably more misses than hits. I've tried several cocktails and there were only a few that were really solid and it is heavily dependent on the bartender making the cocktail. The negroni and the blueberry pisco sour were very strong drinks - balanced, sweet but strong. But most of the other cocktails in the menu were not as balanced. Some ingredient - the sourness or bitterness usually - were always overpowering the drink. I would recommend Ward Eight as an alternative to RP Social. It is near enough and I've never had a bad experience there. I do like that RP social allows you to bring your own food though. It's great to have your choice of good to complement the cocktails here. read more

It's poppin on a Monday night! They've got a girl singing and everything! There weren't any open spaces to sit as the place was pretty small. My friend and I stood for a few minutes, then we sat at the end of an already occupied table. We waited in an awkward line to get our drinks. We waited for about 20 minutes at least in that awkward line. There were 2 bartenders and it seemed like they put love in the drinks making them move slower. My Drew Cherrymore was good after I ate the cherry and let the lime sink in and the ice melt. My friend got a very interesting looking beer which he got 2 of so I'm assuming he liked it. The parking is minimal and the environment was a bit loud for my liking so I'm not sure I'll be back to this bar, however I had a decent experience overall. read more
