Delightfully impressed with this place! My husband and I were driving around looking for a local dinner spot and we are SO GLAD that we found this pizza spot! We ordered the Hawaiian pizza with easy sauce since we aren't too much into sauce (don't judge!) and I must say this one of the best pizzas we have ever had! The sauce has a hint of garlic so it gives it just the right amount of flavor. We met the owner, Rogelio, as we were waiting for our pizza and he was very kind and welcoming. I like that they sell pizza by the slice, as not many places in Allied Gardens do so, plus they have a daily special with a slice of pizza, side salad & a drink for $7.99! This place is a must try! This place was so amazing. We have tried so many different pizza places in San Diego and this was one of the best. I really think the sauce is the most important and this sauce did not disappoint. It was sweet, garlicky, and had a great basil flavor. We got the four cheese and loved it. The 18" would be good for 3 people (if you eat a lot of pizza like me and my husband) although it could probably feed 5 people just fine. Roger's can be found right next to the old Souplantation in this mini mall. We had the one slice of pizza, salad and soda, lunch special for $7.99. We had Mexican bottled sodas for a $1 more each. ( Why is that soda so much better?) The pizza was thin crusted and very tasty and the salad large enough not to be finished at lunch. Roger is onsite and friendly. There are a few tables to eat inside, nothing fancy, but very clean. Come by and try it. We buy local. read more

Obviously a family run restaurant. We were greeted as we came in and were asked if it was our first time there and it wasn't. It was lunchtime and the gentleman explained the lunch specials. They seem to be a New York style restaurant because of the pies on display for by the slice. The lunch specials include the pizza that they have by the slice. We got two one slice specials. One slice with a house salad and a drink, a veggie Stromboli, and onion rings. Everything was very good and fresh. For three people we paid less than $50. Oh this place is just wonderful! I was impressed with the superb customer service, they were patient and took time to explain what each special entailed that I requested. The food, wow. I miss food in Italy and this was the closest I've had in such a long time. We got one of the family meals that came with an 18" 1-topping pizza, 2-litter Coca Cola soda, large salad paired with a tasty homemade salad dressing, homemade garlic knots, and homemade lasagna for about $29 dollars. Ordered a party pizza after reading all the glowing reviews. The pizza was good. Bronx style crust. Fresh ingredients. Order called for one additional ingredient while requesting two be removed. Would seem a fair trade off. Unfortunately the business decided that there was a surcharge of $3.00 for the extra ingredient although I asked for them to keep two others. I've never seen a pizza shop do that. I appreciate the pizza but any business that puts pure profit over the customer has the wrong business model for sustainability. Won't be ordering from there again. Brothers Giant Pizza is as good if not better and they accommodate requests when it's fair. read more

I absolutely love this place and have since he was located in a gas station in Spring valley. We followed him to his location on Mission Gorge and are now delighted that he has made his new home in Rancho San Diego -- which is where we live. With regard to those complaining about the prices, I feel they are completely fair given cost of rent, labor, ingredients, and electricity. You can get an extra large 18 inch gourmet pizza and one of their fantastic salads for less than 50 bucks which will easily feed four people. That works out to about 12 bucks a person, which, given today's prices, is more than reasonable. And their pizzas are fantastic at least a few that we have tried - we have our favorites somwe've not tried them all. I also think they make fantastic torpedo and Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. And as for Roger ( I assume that is his name, since that's the name of the restaurant ) he is always friendly and his perseverance in keeping his restaurant going, I find to be very inspirational. His restaurant wouldn't still be here if he wasn't putting out a quality product. read more
