Chin wappin chili

Chef Keky has a Gordon Ramsey talent, blending fresh ingredients and flavors that generate an amazing flavor bomb on the taste buds! Today's fantastic-ness was the chili! GIRL.... Hands down better than my own if I do say in a quiet voice.

The Hubs and I are big fans of Rogue beers. We found ourselves with some time to kill at lunchtime on a Saturday and decided to take a drive out to North Plains & give this Rogue location a try. There was maybe a handful of other couples in the place so it wasn't loud and the service was friendly and quick. I have a feeling this place really gets hopping on Friday & Saturday nights and I heard they often have live music. They have a variety of beers, both their own and other local breweries on tap along with some national brands (if you really want to drink a Coors Light for some reason...). The Hubs ordered their Club sandwich with was GIGANTIC and delicious. He upgraded his side to their onion rings which were beer-battered (I would hope so!) and were very good, too. Seriously, 2 people could easily share the Club Sandwich...it was cut in 4 sections and each section was a sandwich in and of itself with the amount of stuff it was loaded with. I ordered their Shroom City burger (1/3 lb) which was also very good and I had it with their regular fries which are skin-on fresh fries, Yum-O! They didn't ask how I wanted my burger cooked so I assumed it would come out medium and I didn't ask (I know some places just serve burgers medium)...it arrived medium-well so I think next time I will ask for medium or medium-rare if the server doesn't ask. It was still darn good, though...topped with plenty of perfectly cooked mushrooms, quality Swiss cheese and lettuce/tomato on a local sourdough bun (which did a great job holding up to all the toppings and stayed together). Not directly pub-related, but the town it's in is a nice little town with some beautiful huge murals painted on the sides/front of several of the buildings. We took the scenic route back to Portland, avoiding the highway, and it was a beautiful drive on a few winding roads...I definitely recommend taking a non-highway route to or from if you have the time to take the slower route.

Ouch. This place is not worth it. One waiter, one cook. Order at the bar. The place is filthy, we asked for a towel to wipe our own table. Our order hadn't been made after an hour, so we paid for our beer and left. Totally not a part of the Rogue Nation. FAKERS. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in a restaurant. EVER.

Great service and great food. Stopped here in the way to Astoria and it's just what we needed. Great dive place.

Exactly as mediocre as the beer Rogue makes. If that's your thing, then by all means.

Cool little dive with live music most nights. Escape hipster Portland metro with good beer and a garlic burger.

Service is sullen and indifferent - you may feel like you are bothering her when you order beer, but don't let that take away from your experience.

First and sadly, last place we would go…read more We recently visited Heater Allen in McMinnville for their Oktoberfest with six family members, excited to support a local spot that calls itself "kid friendly." Unfortunately, the way we were treated made us feel anything but welcome. Our 3-year-old was playing with the toy bin they provide for kids inside, while we were mainly gathered outside. Like any toddler, he made a mess, but I was mindful of it and cleaned up after him when asked. About 15-20 minutes later, I noticed the entire toy bin had been removed. When I asked the staff member (manager?) why, her response was curt and dismissive--essentially saying she was tired of cleaning up after kids. She even said she "had kids too," but the tone felt more like scolding than understanding. I explained that we come to places like this because they advertise themselves as family-friendly. Instead of hospitality, we were made to feel like a burden, as though children weren't actually welcome. The worst part was overhearing her continue to talk about us to others while we were still there. That crossed the line from unprofessional to just plain rude. We ended up leaving and taking our business elsewhere. For parents constantly searching for places to enjoy a beer while their kids have space to play, I can confidently say Heater Allen is not it. If you don't want children there, don't advertise as kid-friendly--it's misleading and creates an experience that feels hostile for families.

As a self proclaimed clam chowder connoisseur I take the hunt for delicious clam chowder throughout…read morethe PNW coastal area very seriously. Each beach town my husband I travel to, I spend far too much time reading reviews about clam chowder. If only I spent as much energy in other areas of my life as I do "internet-researching" clam chowder, who knows what I could accomplish. I must say that the clam chowder at Werner Beef & Brew is exactly what I have been hunting for. It is the perfect texture and consistency. It has a spectacular balance of clam to potato ratio, and the potatoes are cooked to perfection. They don't have too much bite, nor do they disintegrate into mush the moment they enter your mouth. The chowder itself was worth traveling from Rockaway to Tillamook for. It was even worth a more industrial view vs. an establishment with a more coastal and picturesque backdrop. The salad bar was on point. The variety of salad add-ins, dressings, and topping crunchy-bits were epic. It was a nice balance to the very rich perfect chowder I am already missing. I miss it. I miss the chowder. My husband also got the fish tacos, based on others' reviews and enjoyed every bite. I enjoyed their Dragon Fruit Cider, and he ordered one of their Meaty Bloody Mary's. If you are on the fence if you should order one, you should. You should get that bloody mary. The bloody mary then led us to purchase some of their salami and bologna. It was an elevated version of the sandwich meat my grandpa used with white bread, yellow mustard (off-brand), ice burg lettuce, and a slice of cheddar cheese. Mid-life has me craving nostalgia. It might be the hormone imbalance, but salami white bread sandwiches, here I come.

I have gotten the breakfast burrito when having breakfast and would characterize it as large, yet underwhelming in taste. None of the beers that i have tried are particularly memorable, but they are very drinkable. The service is courteous and they strive to keep the tables clean. The ordering here is done at the counter and I have found this to be a great way of taking orders in a casual establishment. This allows one to peruse the menu at a table at one's own speed, then walk up to the counter to ask any questions about the menu and then place the order. My experiences have been that the employee at the register has always been patient, informative and respectful. They bring your order to your table when it is ready. My experience is that they give you a conservative estimate of the time for preparing and the real time has been shorter. Note that I think they do a good job with turnaround times given how many customers are in the restaurant combined with their apparent significant take-out business. My dinner experiences have been very satisfying and that is what one would expect from a meat purveyor. However, they do not fumble the ball on the execution. Casual food, but tasty. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating: plenty of both. Part of the outside seating is heated and covered during much of the year. I have never been there when you could not choose a table. I think a great casual stop, and a unique one, when visiting the Tillamook area.
