Came here after a horrendous experience at Larson VW of Tacoma. They did the work for a fair price, have real people to talk to who are knowledgeable and polite, picked up the car from my house and returned it, and fixed everything we asked for with no issues. Accurate quote over the phone, itemized carefully at my request. They treated me as well as my husband which is rarely the case in auto shops. Even included a cute little keychain and Brown Bear car wash voucher. Highly recommend and for all that's good and holy do NOT waste time at Larson. I wish I could give these THIEVES 0 stars. My mother had issues with her Ranger Rover. She took it in to a shop and received her codes. Unfortunately, this particular shop did not work on foreign vehicles. My mother chose Rolf's in Fife, due to the close proximity it was to her home. She called and made the appointment and also told them of the codes she had been given. Well, a guy named Leo or Louie told her that they needed to do their own reading, which I found unnecessary due to her having it done already. He charged my mother over $400 to only tell her the EXACT same codes she had already given them from the prior reading. He then told my mother it would be $4200 to fix the issues. I understand Range Rover service is expensive, but he proceeds to tell my mother to junk her vehicle and that it wasn't worth fixing. This is a company that works on Range Rovers and other imports so is he telling everyone to trash their vehicles when they have issues? Bottom line is this man charged my mother over $400 for doing NOTHING. It DOES NOT take 2 hours to hook up a reader to a vehicle to get the error codes. That was a bunch of crap. The company basically received over $400 for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! How many other women has this happened to? DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE UNLES YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY! My brother just happened to come home from the Air Force and took her vehicle in to Range Rover. They were booked out, but the guy told him of another shop that works on Range Rovers. We took her vehicle there and was able to get it fixed for $2400. It's running Great! read more

Zero stars, if possible! Short story: I have a BMW they tried to charge a total of almost $1,600 for a part that costs leas than $13 and less than fifteen minutes to diagnose AND install! Long story: I scheduled an appt with Cassandra for Lakewood's office and she asked me if Fife's location can get me in sooner if I'd like to go there. Sure. I asked her what they charge for finding out what's wrong with my car. She said $250 for 1.5 hour diagnostic. I asked if they apply that to the repair cost and she told me that they don't gauge people and if it's something they can repair within that amount of time then they don't charge extra for labor. Sounded reasonable. So, I knew what the problem was before I took it in and wanted to see if they'd be honest with me. I'm a female and recently had a different shop take advantage of that. Upon check-in I asked if they could look at a couple things if there was time. Louie, my point-of-contact, per Cassandra, explained to me that they will have to see because it could be something small or big creating a sound in my muffler. I waited for the 1.5 hours. I then get pics sent to me telling me that the problem is what I knew it to be. I needed the exhaust actuator pin BUT with possible muffler assembly. Louie proceeded to explain to me how they can only install BMW parts from the factory and I'm S.O.L., like him because BMW only sells the actuator pin with the muffler assembly. So the repair will cost $1,251 or $1,291. I was shocked so I don't recall if it was "51" or "91". I asked him how much like three times trying to digest what this guy is trying to gauge me for. I had found this problem online within like a minute and ordered the part, from Amazon, the week before for less than $13. I got to the muffler actuator by myself and just couldn't really fit under with my boobs and didn't jack the car up. I needed a little more leverage to line your pin up and couldn't from my angle. I tweaked the pin a bit but couldn't really get it right without that leverage. So... back to Louie! This guy!!! I told him I'm gonna call my hubby. I stepped out fuming and called my husband. Went back in and told Louie how we can order the part online for like $13 and asked him if they'd install it if I bring the part. Louie said "no" they can only install the BMW factory parts and unfortunately it's how BMW sells it. I then asked Louie to confirm that it took them the full 1.5 hours to figure that out and he said yes and that'll be $300. I started gathering my things and Louie told me he'd have them bring my car a out front for me. I said that'd be nice. I told Louie at that point how I knew what the problem was before I came in and how we had ordered the part for $13, blah blah blah. He said "I'm not sure what you're getting at". I said I'm pretty sure you know what im getting at. He said "sorry you feel that way". I said "sorry you act that way" and left. I drove two minutes to BMW , walked to service desk, and asked if they sell that actuator pin only with the muffler assembly and he said no they sell it by itself. He has one in stock for $13. I explained what Rolfs did to the fella without asking if he'd like to hear but I had to vent. I can't believe Rolfs wanted let's say on the low end, $1,251 plus the $300 for diagnostic for a part that costs less than $13!!! That should be criminal! I stopped by a shop on my way home and asked if they could pop the actuator pin in and they did without a charge. It was less than five minutes. read more

DO NOT USE THIS SHOP..Nickle and dime you to get your money!!!! I made the mistake of taking my BMW to this shop two times, the first time they didn't even fix what I asked them to fix so I ended up having to take it back and go without the car on a very busy holiday week!!!! The second time was the killer, my car that is.... took it in for an oil leak, was told it would be 600.00 to fix, the next day it went to 2000.00 which I was willing to pay to get my car fixed and quit leaking.... the next call I got was that my engine seized!!!!!! I now had a bill of 2000.00 to pay for a worthless car that was running fine when I dropped it off! So I'm not only out the 2000.00 but the cost of the car which was still around 7-10 grand!!! And....originally they billed me for the towing to get the car back to shop after their test drive. They did offer to put the exact same engine, known to have trouble back into my car for $21000.00....really! Wanted to talk to the owner, Mark multiple times and was informed repeatedly that he would be in and out to meetings all day...avoidance??? Coopers is a much better shop to do your repairs and if they screw up they will at least share the cost with you!!! If you value your car DO NOT use this shop. read more

Rolf's DOES NOT stand behind their work at all. I had them replace my ignition coil in cylinder #4. 17 months later it failed, they would not fix it at all. I've spend over $8000.00 in the past 2 years maintaining my 2010 BMW 328i. I've had every other ignition coil replaced, 6 months ago by Accuracy Automotive in Gig Harbor. They stand behind their work for 2 years! I will never return to Rolf's again, very poor customer service. AFTER RESPONSE FROM SHOP OWNER After your response I thought I'd add more information... Most reputable mechanic shops such as BMW Northwest, or Accuracy Automotive in Gig Harbor guarantee their work for 24 months. I called and talked to Peter after I had the OBD codes run on the car showing the ignition coil failure in cylinder #4. Peter stated that you stand behind your work for 3 years when the car is serviced every 6 months. I told him that I had receipts showing over $8000.00 in maintenance in the last 24 months. That I am still willing to show you today. That didn't matter. The reality is that you don't stand behind your work, and I shouldn't have to take my vehicle to you every 6 months if nothing is wrong. At the end of the day you have a flawed customer service approach. read more

Communication is key for me with auto shops. I was told to bring my car in and they could replace the window motor, which I knew was the problem. I drove the 45 min to get there because they were going to give me a loaner car and seemed so easy to work with. They did not tell me that they would charge over $200 to diagnose the problem! And they did not tell me they were doing a 50 point checkup that I didn't need to tell me what else was wrong with my car. The full estimate for that motor repair was $900 including an $80 freight charge for a part that fits in my hand. I asked if they could use a different company that offered free shipping and a lower price. I was told no. So, I paid $200 to get my door taken apart and put back together. Side note. In trying out the button on the way home, it used to do nothing now it screeches. So no, I won't recommend that shop. Communication is very weak. Charges very high. Good news. I called Classic Auto Body in Tacoma and they will look at my door for NO CHARGE and let me know what it will cost. So stay away from these guys. read more

Easy scheduling - they answer the phone quickly, provide options to meet my schedule and now offer online booking as well. 2. Transparency - they tell you and show you. After evaluating any needed repairs or maintenance, they send a report by email and text message that includes clear, well lit photos so you can see exactly what the mechanic is seeing. This is followed by a phone call to go over the report and answer questions. They also provide the costs up front without surprise add-ons at the end. 3. Fair pricing - Rolf's is not a discount mechanic shop where your car may sit for days waiting to be worked on. They are professionals who specialized in certain import brands. Their shop hourly rate isn't cheap, but it also is not overly expensive. Try comparing their rates to a car dealers shop. A few years back, my car had a check engine light appear just before an emissions test was required. Not only did they fix the problem, but they even took the car over to the emission test station for me. What a pleasant surprise to find that they not only fixed the problem, but even took care of making sure it passed the test. That's what customer-centered focus looks like. Recently, my older Mercedes needed a repair that was more than I wanted to spend on it, I decided it was time to get another car. When I told them about my decision, they were gracious and said they hope I would still consider them for my auto needs. Believe it or not, before shopping for the next car, I reviewed the list of brands that Rolf's services and made them my first choices. Was told 2 years ago My BMW was in urgent need of new brake pads. I wasn't ready to pay their $1900 just for new pads. Well, I got home and looked for myself. There was plenty of pad left. We took my husband's BMW to Rolf's because it would not start. We thought it might be a coding issue but they told us it was probably the ECU. They said they would get an ECU and try it. The car sat for an entire month before they even attempted to look for an ECU for the car (it is not a hard to find part). We ended up purchasing an ECU because it took so long and brought it to them. A couple of weeks went by with no update on the car so we called and were told it did not work. We were then told the ECU was fine and it was probably a wiring issue and they would try to figure out why it wouldn't start. The car sat there for FOUR MONTHS and they never tried to figure it out. They kept putting it off saying they were too busy and that it was a "project car". I don't understand what is so "project" about diagnosing and getting a car running! We got fed up with dealing with them and came and towed the car out of there. Then they had the balls to charge us over $700 for doing basically nothing. On pick up, we had to ask them for a receipt for payment and then what we got had no detail what-so-ever as to if they had done anything to the vehicle. We took the car to another shop and were told it was a bad crank position sensor, which is a common problem apparently, and they had the car running in about an hour for under $200 for parts and labor. Rolf's has poor communication. They never called to give us updates and when we called we either got the run around or our calls were never returned. They charged for work that was never done and were completely incapable of diagnosing a common problem that was fixed in an hour by another shop. WHAT A RIP OFF!!!!!!! Save yourself the trouble and take your vehicle somewhere else!!!! If I could leave a negative star rating I would. read more

It is ridiculous that every company cannot operate and function as efficiently and with such attention to detail as these guys and they do it with a very friendly manner and welcome you in like family. Everytime we go to the service department, we have been so well taken care of I didnt want to leave. We often work with John and have spoken to Ira a couple times. My husband wonders why I constantly need an oil change LOL. In all seriousness we would steal these guys if we still owned our company. It costs nothing to make people feel welcome, to use their name when they call and just make them feel like they are the only people around ... After always having our Mercedes C300 serviced at the local Mercedes dealership, over paying and receiving poor customer service, I finally had had enough and took the car into Rolf's based on a friends recommendation. I called the day before and was able to schedule next day service, something the dealer was never able to do. When I arrived at Rolf's, I was greeted by John who knew exactly why I was there from our conversation before. Not having to repeat issues over and over again to multiple reps was refreshing based on what I had previously experienced at dealership. Rolf's performed the repairs and I was out of the door in less than an hour. I would highly recommend Rolf's to anyone looking for quality work, fair price and excellent customer service. read more

Sad to say, I had a very bad experience with this company. I took my Porsche Macan in for new brakes. A few days after the service, I started experiencing some issues that felt like the tires were wobbling. When I called to share my issues, the lady was very offensive and pretty much stated that THEY DID EVERYTHING RIGHT and acted like I was trying to blame them for something they did wrong. That wasn't the case at all. When they put the tires back on my car, they didn't balance out the air in the tires which caused some driving challenges-simple fix right? The gal spoke to me as if I didn't know and understand the car that I'd been driving the past 4 years. She treated me horribly. So I took my car into Tacoma Porsche because after a few more days, it seemed like the car was now pulling to the right every time I pressed the brakes. I dared not take it back to Rolfs to deal with yet another poor experience. Chris at Tacoma Porsche told me that Rolfs installed AFTER MARKET BRAKE PADS which can be problematic sometimes; they are safe, but can cause issues and wear down faster than genuine pads. Here's the thing, I asked TWO people at Rolfs and I was told that they only used genuine Porsche parts because they were difficult to get them aftermarket. I even asked the guy who shuttled me to my office when I dropped off my car about the parts and he told my the same thing. To make matters worse, these brakes now squeal HORRIBLY when I compress the brakes. Lesson learned - only go to the dealership going forward. read more

Requested Rolf's do a pre-purchase inspection on a used Audi, easy enough to set up. They picked-up the car, did the inspection and then provided an inspection report. Kassandra even including "excerpts" from the Carfax report. Glowing report on they car, but ROLF's LEFT OUT one key detail - the vehicle had been in a previous accident. This really brings me to question the integrity of the company. read more

Outstanding customer service and top-notch reporting. Considered taking my Mercedes to the dealer and I was nervous taking it out of range, but I'm never stepping foot in a dealership for anything un-warranted ever again after coming to Rolf's. They made the whole process super easy and explained in easy-to-understand terms what was actually going on with the vehicle. Our car that wasn't starting got towed there and Rolf's kept their word and called as soon as the car arrived. About a day later I received a text and email with a multi-page detailed report with photos to prove what was wrong with the vehicle. They even laid out in three categories what immediately needed attention, what was less important, and what was OK/good on the vehicle. I had no worries at all trusting them with my vehicle and will continue to come in the future! Okay, so my first experience with Rolf's had a rough start. My driver's side window in my Mini Cooper quit working...it was stuck so that the door couldn't be closed properly. I checked around, and found that Rolf's was nearby and less expensive than the dealership. I figured I'd give them a try. The first time out, they fixed the regulator and the window worked again, but they out it back in a bit too low. I brought it back and they fixed that. Then, a month later, the window's motor quit (apparently a bad regulator puts strain on the motor). Back to the shop, but this time they fixed it for the cost of the parts (no labor) because of the hassle. Then I had to come back because the window was, again, a bit too low (lots of road noise when the window was "closed"). They fixed that for free. The upshot: if it's complicated, they may not get it the first time, but they will have a good attitude, they will fix it and the price will be fair. :) read more

The only place I will go to for my car! They will always go above and beyond for the customer. I called this morning to see if they could possibly fit me in, and the guy I talked to was so flexible with my schedule. He fit me in for when I asked for, and then I had to call 15 minutes before the appointment was supposed to start to cancel when the dealership I was picking up the part at didn't have it, the person who answered the phone was extremely understanding. I don't know too much about cars, so I know I have to be careful of who I take my car to so I don't get ripped off, but I never have to worry about that at Rolfs. They are trustworthy and I highly recommend them. read more

After I got my 2010 benz c class, I was looking for a place besides the dealer where I could have my services done for a reasonable price and i'm happy I found Rolfe in fife.
