I have had good experiences with Roma in the past, however i just paid 24$ for a pizza that looked like it was cut by a 3 year old! It had pieces that were 1 inch triangle from terrible slicing. Also the barbecue sauce i received was watery and extremely overpoweringly tasting of garlic. Completely un acceptable for 24$ for a large! I called and proclaimed my concern and i was treated like a second class citizen and was told to leave by the manager. Worst 24$ spent! Will not be returning and cannot recommend. read more

I am so partial to Luca's pizza!! This is the real deal...best Za around!! As an aside, Roma's had been located in OOB a few years ago...it put all of the other pizza houses to shame (so I'm guessing they ran him out of town)! KBPT was fortunate to have Luca set up shop in town...grab some Ben & Jerrys for dessert, if you didn't take out...decent sized indoor eating area, smaller outdoor sitting area (mostly benches). I got a slice of the bbq chicken pizza & let me just say, it was delicious! The sauce wasn't too overwhelming & I actually enjoyed the crust. The pizza slices were cut well enough to fill you up but of course, my eyes were on a slice of cheese pizza for seconds. Both slices were great & filled me up! Funky spot on Ocean Ave hidden in a 2 story maze of restaurants & touristy shops.. We walked into a relatively less than charming room occupied by bench tables, facing a TV set on top of the soft drink machine... most of the diners were enjoying their pizza alfresco. We sat down inside watching a foreign language TV series which appeared to be a direct import from Italy,since there were no subtitles. A very pleasant server provided us with the menu listing approximately 19 different pizza combinations. Beer and wine were not available. Manning the pizza oven was a larger-than-life friendly & proud owner of Roma who introduced himself as "Luca".... He informed us that he was also the owner of a Mangiamo, a nearby recently opened Italian restaurant. Also on the wall were multiple pictures with Luca standing alongside George W Bush ... Luca indicated that he delivered pizzas to Walker Pt. I couldn't help but be impressed. If their pizza is good enough for two presidents it certainly is good enough for me. We opted for a large pizza with prosciutto and carmellized onions. There were 18 other additional pizza choices. Italian subs were also available. Our pizza arrived 15 minutes later which was the best thin crusted pizza that I've had in years... my palate was telling me that I had had a similar pizza once in Florence, Italy, not far from the Domo.... I'm not kidding. I was transported to Italy while eating pizza in this relatively unassuming very simple basic space somehow letting you get the "job" done without any other superfluous distractions .The ambience did what it just was meant to do.... provide you with an authentic pizza that cannot be beat.... yes, I'm giving Roma 5 stars... but realize that the rating is just for the pizza and nothing else.... oh yes, Luca you "own" part of the 5 stars....sorry I can't say the say the same for the ambience....foody snob that I am. read more

I've never felt compelled to write a yelp review until now, but theirs was the best penne vodka sauce I've had. Don't usually expect much of the pasta at a pizza place, but thus is not the case here. We've wanted to eat here for some time now, but this small pizza parlor never seemed to be open. Finally, we hit pay dirt and it was worth the wait. So here's the drill, as I understand it: He's open Friday, Saturday and (?) Sunday during the "off season". Maybe more often around Xmas, and all the time in the summer. The owner, chef is from Rome and the pizza reflects that heritage. Small place with about 8-10 tables. rustic but the pizza is superb. Sometimes, but unfortunately, not when we were there, apparently he makes great pasta. When available, he sells pizza by the slice, but only what pizza he's prepared and is out of the oven. Otherwise you can pretty much order what you like. Fairly priced for the large portions you get and extremely tasty as well. We had the square "Grandma's Pizza" (mozzarella, basil, garlic and marina sauce). HIs pizzas are juicy and saucy, which we like, on thin crust. In addition to truly memorable pizza, it's BYOB, a fact not lost on us, as we enjoyed a bottle of Ridge "Lytton Springs". Friendly service, large portions, more than fairly priced, A+. read more

Pizza is pretty good for the area, nothing spectacular. But definitely stay away from the chicken parm sub! It was literally sliced deli chicken covered in sauce and cheese. Couldn't take more than one bite it was that bad. Not sure if this reflects any of their other subs but safe to say we will be sticking to just pizza if we end up going back. read more

Found this hidden gem while searching the are for some good ol speghetti and meatballs. Hard to find in the port area. Apparently they are known for their pizza but we had to settle a pasta craving. This is by far THE BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD! During our summer vacation to old orchard beach, we used to eat there a few times during our stay. My family and I tried for the first time to check this place out after wanting to for a while, but when we went to give them a call for take out, they didn't answer the phone after NUMEROUS tries. Thinking that they were probably just busy, we drove over to place the take out order in person. Ugh, I signed up for a Yelp account to write this because I was aggravated enough to do so. First, this isn't my first time being disappointed by this place, but only because I check their hours and I'm told open at 4 pm and I get there and it's closed. Ok, fine. Nothing to write a yelp review about, but then my son and I went yesterday, at 5 pm, only ONE HOUR into being open for the day, and I ask for two slices of pepperoni pizza, and was told by the woman at the counter that they only have two slices of tomato and basil left. Wha? I can see Luca and another man in the back making pizzas and chatting so I figure "this is a pizzeria, right? There's a sign in the front that proclaims 'Pizza By The Slice'. It's called Roma Pizza, they must have pizzas coming." So I ask the woman, "Do you know when you'll have pepperoni pizzas coming?" And instead of saying, I dunno maybe something like "in fifteen minutes" or "I'll ask the chef who's standing right there" or "we just got suddenly barraged by calls for big orders and it's going to be a good hour" she just looks at me and shrugs and that's it. Are you kidding me? Oh my god, no wonder people complain about the staff. Absolutely ridiculous. My son loved those pizzas (whenever we happen to be there and it's open) but forget it. We are never coming back. Go to Ports of Italy, right over the Dock Square bridge in Lower Kennebunk. They have authentic, wood-fired pizza. Go to Alisson's and order some good pub pizza. Heck, if you're up for the drive, go to Wells and eat at the Seacoast Pizza and Pasta, they have good NY style pizza. Go anywhere but this mess. read more

We had two slices if pizza and both were served cold and the pizza itself was awful! The grease that just dripped off was disgusting! This is a one and done for us. We were the only ones eating there and now we know why. When we asked for a receipt and the owner wanted either our phone number or email to send it to us, they don't have a register,he uses his iPad for billing so that means every card that's swiped on his iPad.
