My dining partner and I went to the Roma on Oct 22. We were greeted at the door after a short wait by, I presume, the manger. We were given a choice of a table or booth. We chose the booth which was located next to a window with a view, We were then introduced to our waitress" Dianne" by a waitress in training, who served us coffee. I had the Saltinbocca with veal for $8.50 The food was very good and served hot. There was a mediun sized portion of veal and prosciutto.The angel hair pasta and sauce was cooked to perfection.The overall quantity was more than expected for a lunch menu. My dining partner had lemon pepper haddock for $7.95 which looked good and she said was very good. The quantity required a take home bag.. For desert I had tiramisi which was very good and my dining partner had grapenut custard which was also very good. The service we got from Dianne was very good, except for the delivery of the bill. A Friday afternoon, I wanted pizza and beer... Thought this restaurant might do it; however, the menu was quite varied and decided on a great sampler with a Rebel IPA. No regrets! The place was slow and nice early afternoon; it picked up tempo after 6pm. The server was very attentive and friendly at all times. I went to the Roma for my neighborhood holiday party, and admittedly my review is probably not as useful for that reason - we were a group of 35 rather then just a single table. That said, I had a wonderful time and my food was a lot better then I expected. It's location left me wondering how good this place could really be, but I was surprised. The waitstaff was very friendly and happy to grab drinks and chase me around the room to deliver them. I had the baked Haddock which was really good, actually others at the table were envious leading me to believe that not everything there is as good but one can only speak for themselves. Well seven of ( 4 adults and 3kids) went to Roma last night and unless we were in a time warp, this resturant was fantastic. Our two families had purchased two Groupons and they allowed us to use them together with no problem. I have to say that we purchased them prior to reading all the not so nice reviews, which only heightened my concern about going to Roma. We got there at 6:30pm and they were reasonably busy. Scott our waiter was very friendly and had only started 3 days ago. With that, he still know most of this large menu. What we enjoyed was we were never rushed and I know this is either good or bad to folks that want to eat and go. The point is he understood we were not in a rush and we felt like we were at home in this bright, and clean resturant. Now to the food. We were a picky group and Scott really had to deal with it and he did, with lots of help and a smile. We had 6 appetizers, mozzarella sticks, toasted ravioli, bruschetta, chicken wings and fried calamari and they were all very good. For entrees we had the Torta Del Seafood, filet minion, haddock florentine, chicken Marsala (which came with two large chicken breasts) which everyone thought were very good. The Torta Del seafood came with a lot of seafood in it. I thought it was going to be like a lobster pie with bread crumbs, but it was in a soup style bowl with a puff pastry on top. It was still very good and I should have read the menu more closely. One filet minon was not medium well and Scott gladly took it back and when it returned it was perfect. Point is this can happen and we understand this. If there was bad staff at Roma then we did not see it and they got rid of those people. The resturant we very clean and busy even at 8:30pm for dinner. I would say to people reading the reviews make your own decision and go back or try them for the first time. Five of us went to the Roma last night and we all had great food and service. We happened on the $9.99 night and couldn't believe the value of the meal. We had veal, chicken, fish and shrimp, wine, coffee and dessert.. No one complained about their food. Started with a salad or soup with great bread and dipping oil. The bill with tip came to $22 per person. Very good value for what we had. Would recommend. P.S. Wish I knew the name of our server. She really added to the dining experience. The Roma always ends up being our last minute go to place, mostly because of the reasonable prices and quick service. Our favorite meals are the Chicken Frangelico and Baked Ziti...however we always seem to find the chicken quality to be poor/tough...so we opt to get without the chicken when possible. read more

Have not been out to dinner for a long time, so decided to go to the roma.Never have i had a bad experience there from the hostess to the wait staff its always a pleasure,the food is exceptional. I hsd the prime rib king cut which is as good as i remembered it to be,my girlfriend had the chicken Alfredo which was excellent. We've been to Roma three times over the winter. It's a clean, well lighted place. The servers are pleasant and we've never had a bad experience. They do have an extensive menu with a number of red sauce italian entrees and a separate Greek menu (which we haven't tried). Husband likes to go there because early in the week every thing on the menu then (except drinks) is $10.00. He usually has the haddock which is a good value for the price. I've had their Italian entrees and have never cared for them. The sauce is way too thick and if it isn't canned, sure tastes like it is. All in all not too bad, but I can't recommend the Italian sauces. read more

Tonight was our second time here. Our first experience being mediocre due to fair service. However the food was great so we figured we would give it another try. Very glad we did, this time food and service were excellent. Our server Scott was very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. He made sure drinks were full and checked in to make sure we liked our meals. I wish more of the servers were as positive and caring as him. Ps...lobster casserole and filet were both delicious! I went for lunch yesterday for my father's 65 birthday. I got the special mushroom raviolis and they were amazing. My folks enjoyed their dishes and had plenty to box up for later. The bill for three of us came to under $30. It was a nice atmosphere and okay service. Often I have sat outside on the deck, it can be really nice as it is the only establishment that has deck seating on the Bradford side of the river. They specialize in Italian food and that is what I would suggest getting.... read more

I have to say, Roma had been a staple in MH family for years, you can't beat the Roma cutlet with angel hair pasta and a cold fresh salad, some times the portions are skimpily but throughout the years they have been solid. Great for lunch or dinner. If you do go for lunch get the Roma cutlet sub, and ask for garlic bread instead of a plain sub roll, to die for!! read more

Kay and I stopped here for lunch and we sat in a booth by the window overlooking the river. The restaurant is large, but still has that neighborhood appeal. Kay had the stuffed peppers and I had the steak tips. The meals had to be dinner size at lunch prices. We both loved our meals. My steak tips were so tender that they had to be tenderloin cuts of beef with no fat, not the cheaper cuts of beef usually used to make steak tips. read more

My Boyfriend and I went Friday night for dinner. It's been years since I've been and I liked it then. Needless to say but I will any way, We will not be back. The drink menu needs updating. They were 0/0 on the drinks I ordered. The waitress had to come back three time to tell me the bar was out of the alcohol needed for my drink. My boyfriends dinner was fine but mine was absolutely disgusting. I ordered the lobster casserole. Big mistake! The lobster was shriveled up and fishy tasting oh, and all claw. I declined another entree so the manager offered us desert. That would have been ok except for the fact there was two of us and we got one desert. The manager was nice enough but when I questioned her about the bill she acted like she did us a favor, she did not. The amount she said she took off was the groupon I had purchased. read more

Had my wedding there. We got the platinum package cause for the price it included a photographer, DJ, centerpieces and a cake as well as the room and the mea(we decided to go with Buffett style) Everything seemed great upon our first 2 meetings with Steve he spoke highly of the photographer and dj service they use so I took his word for it as he repeatedly told me he has been doing this for years... 14 days before he gets the final payment which was fine and here's where things went left.. the limo driver was Robert Michael's they were great... photographer Oral Willams nice guy not the great with the photography and the DJ didn't even follow our playlist but let me get back on track... we get to the Roma for our reception the elevator isn't working so that was fun as we had disabled people attending and they had to use the stairs. Meal time now I had paid for 83 and only 70 showed up so there was no reason to deny anyone anything my sister went to the buffet line with her 1 year old and asked for more chicken fingers as she was only gIven 2 and she was feeding him off her plate, she was told no they have to make sure there's enough for everyone, the fish was soggy the pasta dishes were alright. Service sucked waitresses never refilled water and were clearing plates before people were done some people didn't get cake served and they just looked miserable. Tried to talk to Steve a couple days after as I was finding things out and all he could give me was I was looKing at cameras I have 32 of them and I don't know what your talkiNb about... just don't do it read more

My first, and last I might add, experience at Roma was absolutely terrible. We had a group of 22 people, and had a reservation - not like we just came in expecting service. We had ONE waitress for the whole table. It took that woman about 45 minutes for us to get drinks, then another 45 to get our food (and the food was terrible). To me that is completely unacceptable and the management should have come by to say something. Surprisingly only 1 order got screwed up, but that took a good 15 minutes to rectify. When we finally were able to ask for the check (2 hours and 15 minutes later) she took 15 minutes to run the credit cards because the restaurant only had one credit card machine and it was probably using dial up with the amount of time it took to run them. Over all, my husband and I will never come back and will never recommend them to anyone. read more

As far as mercy meals go... You are wasting both your time and money if you choose the Roma. The service was fine and not the issue. Meals were just so so, but for double the price of the regular menu. In our case, we had 18 people (including two young children) and the large salad provided as a starter never made it around each of our two tables without becoming depleted. They did replenish each at a cost of an additional $7.95 a piece. What a nice gesture! Coffee urns were offered for each table but were never delivered. All in all, if you want to avoid added stress to an already trying day of saying goodbye to your loved one, don't go here. read more

A long time customer of the Roma, even had our 25 year anniversary party there 7 years ago. But I would be lying if I didn't admit it isn't the same place as it was years ago. Last night was the last straw! Entered the restaurant with my wife just after 5 PM for the $9.99 Tuesday night specials. Waited while the hostess took three phone calls in succession for take out orders. Listened while she explained to each caller all their options. Kind of ridiculous and certainly an omen of what was to come. After being seated we waited 10 minutes to have a waiter come over. The place was not busy at this time. The waiter took our order, came back with the drinks/salad/soup, and said our dinners would be along shortly.....the soup was delicious! As the restaurant got busy and packed, we noticed people coming in after us being served and getting their dinners fairly quickly....as we waited.....and waited..... After 45 minutes we asked a different waitress if our order was ever coming out. Our waiter never returned. We watched him running around busy with other customers! She said she would check on ours and we never saw her again, except running around taking care of her customers( which I don't blame her for). Finally at 630 we had had enough.....we stood up to leave.....I flagged down our waiter finally for the bill as I was willing to pay for what we had received.....he totaled it up and as he came over, he saw our empty table and asked if we had eaten yet! The look on his face was priceless! When I told him we hadn't seen him in over 45 minutes he was totally taken aback. the other customers around us were kinda worried at this point. So.....after so many years of enjoying the Roma, we have written off this place as worth going back to again. What a shame! read more

For my mom's birthday yesterday, she suggested that we go to the Roma. My sister and I as well as a few other family members and friends made reservations and brought my mom to the Roma for dinner. The waitress was nice but it was obvious that she had been crying and appeared very flustered. It wasn't until a few minutes later when we heard the nasty old hostess/ manager yelling at the waitresses that we understood why our waitress was so upset. Our waitress continued to be flustered for the rest of the meal, at some points just standing there staring at us like a deer in headlights and apologizing. After we had finished dinner, our waitress asked us if we wanted dessert or coffee, we told her no and after she had walked away, I excused myself to go secretly ask the waitress to bring a dessert for my mom's birthday so we could sing. I couldn't find her so I went to the front to ask the hostess/ manager. For five minutes she just ignored me while on a personal phone call, never even made eye contact with me. When she finally got off the phone, she just stared at me, didn't even ask if there was anything she could help me with. So I explained to her that I wanted to bring over a a dessert for my mom's birthday. She signed loudly, looked at her watch and then rolled her eyes and then YELLED to another waitress (loud enough that my mom could hear) that this girl wants a piece of cake for her mom's birthday. She told her to go find our waitress and then said nastily, "what is she fooling around in the kitchen???". The girl stormed off yelling "am I ever going to get to punch out tonight???" The hostess/ manager just walked away into the bar never saying anything to me, so I just stood there. When she finally came back, I said are we all set and she said "YUP, she's telling her". So I went back to my seat. After a minute, the waitress came back over (still crying) and said "so, it's um someone's birthday here?". It was so awkward but the surprise had already been ruined by the nasty old lady. I told our waitress, yes, please just bring any dessert. At this point, it wasn't even worth it, we just wanted to get out of there. She finally brought out a piece of cake and we sang happy birthday to my mom. We literally only had one bite each though because the nasty old hostess/manager and a few of the waitresses (not ours) were standing 10 feet in front of us staring at us while looking at their watches. They kept looking at us, talking to each other and throwing their arms up in the air, clearly upset that we were not yet finished. We left the rest of the cake and walked out but not before my sister told the hostess/manager how unpleasant she was and how she had ruined our dinner. She of course did not apologize but just told my sister that she had done nothing wrong. As we were leaving, our waitress came out the back to smoke, once again upset and apologized to us again. We told her that she was fine but that "lady" is extremely nasty and ruined my mom's birthday. Neither myself, my family, nor my friends will be returning to this place, largely due to the nasty old hostess/ manager. Based on the other reviews I have read here, it appears we are not the only ones. I cannot believe they are even still open with someone that vile working the front. read more

I went to the Roma with my sister. I ordered Veal Piccata. The dish that was served was veal with chopped tomatoes, onions, olives, and something that looked like bologna. It was obviously not Veal Piccata. When I told the waitress, she brought the cook out who told me that what he prepared was indeed Veal Picatta. I begged to differ and he said that was too bad because that' s how he makes Veal Picatta. I asked for the manager and no one came. As a matter of fact, I never saw another wait person, cook manager, owner, no one. After twenty minutes of un attention, I walked out. At least I didn't pay for the dish that I could not eat because it was not what I ordered. I haven't been back since. By the way there was not a lemon or a caper in the dish. read more

I had not eaten at Roma for many years because back in the 90's I had become fed up with the inattentive waitstaff. Yesterday afternoon at 4 PM I decided to give it a try because I had not eaten yet the whole day and the restaurant is very close-by. I ordered the NY sirloin steak, well done. Ten minutes later the waitress presented me a plate with TWO steaks plopped on it, stating, "the chef thought the steak was too small so he set you up!". Alarms immediately began sounding inside my head. I avoided the sizable gristle portion of the steak and cut into it, struggling to cut off a piece. It was VERY tough. Furthermore, the meat had been cooked nowhere near well done. Apparently I was provided with a double portion to compensate for a steak known to be of poor quality. The baked potato was small and did not taste fresh. I attempted to eat the steak because I was so hungry but after three bites, each chewed 20 times, I asked for another entrée, haddock Florentine. It was edible. This was a very poor dining experience. The waitress was fair at best, never offering to refill my drink. With so many restaurants in the area, I cannot imagine why anyone would go here. Every steak I've had at Longhorn for example, runs circles around the garbage I was served yesterday at Roma. I would like to rate this review zero stars but unfortunately I am forced to give it one star. AVOID. read more

We came here with a groupon. The service was decent and the food was good. We were so full. I recommend ordering the prime rib. You can never go wrong with prime rib! The atmosphere is really weird, but not enough for us to feel uncomfortable. Maybe what I'm trying to say is, it felt very run down?
