Bought a groupon for dinner and it was totally worth it. We ordered the fried calamari and mozzarella sticks for our appetizers. They were both very delicious and they serve nice portions. I reviewed the menu online and it had a dish I wanted to try however at the restaurant the menu no longer had the dish so I asked our waitress. She told me she would ask the cook in which she did and he was able to make something similar for me which was very tasty. Only complaint is that on the menu it says that you can choose from all the sides listed but when I tried to order rice and potatoes for the two sides of a entree the waitress said we couldn't get both it had to be one or the other and salad. Good food for the price and service was pretty attentive. Restaurant does look pretty dated though maybe some updates would help them bring more business in. read more

My wife , daughter and I went this past Saturday. Although it was busy we were seated right away in a booth. Even though the cushion was kind of lumpy I like sitting in booths. We ordered a NY Sirloin, Fish & Chips and Chicken Alfredo which arrived promptly. Everyone liked their meal. The fresh bread was delicious. The service was fine. It's kind of an old folks place that could use some updating but I've never had a bad meal here and I've also got take out pizza a few times which was good. 3 1/2 stars but I rounded up. read more

Everything about our dining was underwhelming, at best. We went for lunch, and the service was adequate, although our server couldn't answer a simple question about a menu item. The chicken piccata was average - good flavor but chicken itself was not great. And no capers in sight! The baked haddock arrived tasteless and seemingly undercooked. We sent it back, asking that it be cooked more. To her credit, our server did ask if we would like to order something different. We declined. The fish was returned still undercooked, and it became clear at that point that the fish was simply not fresh - it was mushy and tasteless. The assumed manager, who had come over and issued a rather terse apology, returned and told us that the fish was fully cooked, and that she would credit us for half of the charge for the meal, as half of it had been eaten! (Which was certainly not true - the fish had been somewhat "picked apart," in an effort to determine if there was any part of it that was in fact edible!) And wouldn't it have made much more sense to make every effort to ensure that we left satisfied, despite the unacceptable food? Apparently not. There are far too many other places to go to eat - if they are trying to ride on the coattails of "old tried and true," or a "beautiful view out the windows" it's not working! I come here a few times a month to sit down and also order takeout. This place has changed quite a bit over the years, and definitely for the better! Seems like they have a new chef, as food is fantastic. The mid-weekday $9.95 special is an awesome deal. Last night we ordered Veal Parmigiana and the Rib Eye. Both were huge and excellent overall. You can add on a salad for I think $1.50 and it is always fresh and how a tossed salad should be. They give you fresh Italian bread and dipping sauce...How can you beat this for $9.95? You can't! Yes, the place is a little older but in my opinion, a nice location...plenty of parking and a view of the Bradford trail/Merrimack is nice. Service is always top notch never once had sub par service, plenty of staff. So, overall I highly recommend! read more

Not sure what to say here. We came here one night for a birthday dinner for a friends dad and wow. There's about 17 of us, 2 of them ordered the ribeye medium rare and it was cOmpletely and totally raw. Like purple. Not once but twice. Not to mention one of the people who oRdered are 7 months pregnant :-) the servers are so nice but the kitchen needs a to go. is there a minus star? stopped there on 5/26 for a Seafoood Combo. Now I know that it is an Italian restaurant and you get what you paid for but in this case, I didn't either way. I found a brown scallop, the clams were mushy and oozing something black. Nevermind what the cole slaw looked like, if that is what it was. it was actually seethru yellow. Needless to say, after eating what I did, I was not feeling well the rest of the weekend. I was not able to bring it back because of how it affected me, so it ended up in the garbage. We have been going to The Roma now for many years and we generally have a good meal and decent service. Last night was no exception, I had a great prime rib and my husband had the 5 cheese ravioli and loved it. I enjoy that you can have soup or salad before your meal. The bread is good and the oil you dip it in is also quite good. My only compliant right now is that there are no official gluten free options on the men and gluten free pasta would be greatly appreciated. read more

Just went here for Easter Dinner and this being our first time here I have to say everything was great. The server was wonderful and he got my husband's order exactly the way he wanted it. My husband had the seafood festival and wanted it lightly cooked. It was perfect according to him. My son really enjoyed the chicken Alfredo and I had the chicken parmigiano. It was very good. The appetizers were also very good. You husband loved the mussels and there was so much he took some home. My son really enjoyed the mozzarella cheese sticks and we also had the potato skins. No sour cream so I was a little disappointed with that. They were a little dry. so I brought those home to. Overall I would have to say it was really good and I would recommend Roma ' s to all! Went to this place a couple of weeks ago for a rehearsal dinner have to say you couldn't tell from the outside that this place actually exists the place was completely dead for late afternoon on a Saturday the service was ok but the food was terrible I had the chicken parm and as an Italian this was a complete insult to my pallet. The chicken was cooked and served over COLD pasta and the sauce tasted like it came out of a jar! The whole thing was bland and has no flavor basically it would be better off in the trash. read more

I was driving by one Saturday night and whoa! All these people going into romas, parking lot and surrounding areas packed with cars, I'm thinking how have we not tried this place before? So, we went today in for lunch. They were clearly having some event but open for lunch. Waited to be seated, 1 waitress was standing there telling us someone will be with us and then....we stood there for awhile but I'm pretty patient in general so I let it be. Seated next to the window, which I was hoping for. Nice view of the river and downtown Haverhill, rain was letting up so it was becoming a nice sunny view. We ordered the fried mushrooms and French onion soup...MEH. They both needed more flavor. We make amazing fried mushrooms at home. I got the baked haddock, hubby got the chicken Marsala, my son got the tips. Tips were the best thing on the table. My broccoli was barely cooked and me being someone who loves mushy broccoli but will take whatever from a restaurat, they were barely steamed so I was pretty bummed. We had my son's graduation dinner there Saturday afternoon. There were 17 of us. The waiter was amazing. Our drinks were never empty, our food came hot and tasted awesome. No mistakes were made with the order. The prices here are so good. The staff was attentive, fun, and happy. Honestly, this is the best large family outing at a restaurant we have ever had. On a Thursday at noon I brought my daughter and teen granddaughter with me to my favorite restaurant in Haverhill. Because it was a sunny day we chose to sit outside. It was quiet, had a lovely breeze and no bugs not even flies We were surrounded by greenery and also enjoyed occasionally seeing people walking the boardwalk next to the restaurant. The menu is extensive, something for everyone. We began with Calamari and it was good! yum! They have the best coating for deep frying and they do it right. Of course we ordered the house salad and dressing, light and fresh. I chose Eggplant Parm Sub & fries. The sub was so good due to the sauce, and oh, the fries best ever, a golden crunchy delight. My daughter had Seafood Pie and she thoroughly enjoyed it, and my granddaughter had the Boardwalk Burger. I should have taken a photo of her plate, sorry, but it was right out of a magazine and she loved it. I recommend Roma because you get quality delicious food every time and the price is right. And equally important, the staff is friendly and makes the visit that more inviting. I am so glad they made it through the epidemic and I will certainly go back soon for my fave, Chicken Marsala. I haven't been to the Roma in years until today, and now I remember why. I just left a mercy meal with about 25 family members and friends. We were assigned one waitress who was not even remotely equipped to handle such a large party. At last count, she served the wrong meal to at least 8 people. She even went so far as cutting a slab of meat with a patron's used fork when he told her that he received chicken instead of the veal that he ordered. She then realized her mistake and gave the meal to its rightful owner, despite the fact that it had been contaminated with a dirty fork. Probably the worst part of the experience was dealing with the waitress's panting and profuse sweating. While I understand that she was running around, it was disgusting to feel and hear her breathing all over us! We will absolutely not be back. Sadly, you can't give zero stars. We went here for a fundraiser last night. You were supposed to be able to order dinner from 7-8. We were given menus but then sat for 20 minutes waiting for the waitress, or anyone at all, to come over. A few minutes before 8, the waitress and manager came over and said they weren't taking orders anymore. They said they couldn't walk around with trays during the comedy show that followed. Manager kept interrupting and talking over people. Way to listen to customers. When I grabbed the waitress and told her we had been sitting with our menus, waiting for 20 minutes to order, she interrupted and said she had 5 tables she was bringing food to. Uh, yes, it's a function! Then I proceeded to watch them bring food out to people for at least 30-45 minutes into the show! Wonderful for my husband whose blood sugar tanked during the next 3 hours that we needed to be there. Absolutely zero hospitality. I refused to spend another dime on alcohol from that point forward, so more money lost for them. Terrible way to run a business. Luckily, the person running the fundraiser said they'd probably never do it here again. read more

I went back here this past Friday for some karaoke, figured I'd be safe as I wasn't eating. I was treated to the delightful sight of drunks dry humping on the floor of the bar. Go back and read that again if you have too, I did a double take too when I saw it. There was a pool of urine on the floor of the men's room that when I told the bartender was there, he said he was too busy making drinks to clean it up. I got my one song in and left through the cloud of butt smoke the dry humpers and their friends had made in front of the door. This place is horrible as a restaurant by day and a sleaze attractant at night. Make sure you bring an extra pair of shoes if you use the bathroom. Now that they are bulldozing the old Woolworths, you might want to do Haverhill a favor and come across the river and take care of this blight as well. I wish I could give negative stars for this restaurant. My family has been going here since I was a little girl but the restaurant has gone downhill. Today we had a horrible waitress named Larissa. In the two hours we were at the restaurant, we saw her maybe 4 times. The best part was when Larissa spilled soup on my mom, the table, and the floor. After uttering a quick sorry, she then spilled soup on me and my husband. Accidents happen, I get that. However, she never cleaned up the floor or gave us extra napkins to help clean up. She even got the soup in my hair! A napkin would have been appreciated. The food is subpar, but it's really the service that is horrendous. From the minute we got there, our reservation wasn't found (despite my grandfather calling twice to confirm), and then we had Larissa's horrendous "service." I can tell you right now that I will never go back to this restaurant that time forgot. I'd suggest anywhere else before I'd give this as an option. Yuck. I grew up in Bradford and we almost never went to the Roma. Now I remember why. My sister got Fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli. She got nice big chunks of broccoli, but they were half brown! My mom and I got the chicken and artichoke. Again, I was happy to see nice big chunks of artichoke, but ended up picking the "fur" out. I noticed my mom doing the same. First time ever my family decides to go out for Easter. So, we made reservations at the Roma. Now, I arrived 15 mins early to make sure everything was all-set. The hostess was seating people in the order of the time they made the reservation not, who was there. So, we waited an extra 1/2 hour past our reservation time. Now, it was a limited menu, which is fine but, when three people order prime rib and they run out that is a problem. This was substituted with a steak, that was over cooked. They still charged for a prime rib. My father order a trio cutlet plate .. which was Pork, Chicken and Veal it was all chicken. Three others order seafood plate, it was frozen fish and NOT good. We did say something to the manager. He offered "free" desserts to three people. There was 10 other people at our table. This happens on a holiday. So, I guess next year we will eat at home. read more

They brought everything out together -- which could have been ok EXCEPT Hubby's chicken was undercooked. My meal was brought out in pieces. My dining partner and I went to the Roma on Oct 22. We were greeted at the door after a short wait by, I presume, the manger. We were given a choice of a table or booth. We chose the booth which was located next to a window with a view, We were then introduced to our waitress" Dianne" by a waitress in training, who served us coffee. I had the Saltinbocca with veal for $8.50 The food was very good and served hot. There was a mediun sized portion of veal and prosciutto.The angel hair pasta and sauce was cooked to perfection.The overall quantity was more than expected for a lunch menu. My dining partner had lemon pepper haddock for $7.95 which looked good and she said was very good. The quantity required a take home bag.. For desert I had tiramisi which was very good and my dining partner had grapenut custard which was also very good. The service we got from Dianne was very good, except for the delivery of the bill. There was a rather long wait from the time our dessert was finished till the bill came. read more
