We stopped in on a whim. We are just in town for the weekend. The atmosphere was great. Nice decor. Great look and feel. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Our waitress Courtney was knowledgabe and personable. The wait time from ordering until our food arrived was almost an hour. The only saving grace was the roasted garlic and bread basket. We had a wonderful experience. We did not have reservations, but we were able to be seated right away at a stainless steel counter. The food was wonderful as was the service. There isn't an extensive menu however they have a wide variety of food. I got a hamburger and it was cooked medium rare as requested. The french fries were the real deal. My boss had wanted to do something special for our office at Christmas this past year because another doctor had come on board and he wanted to celebrate that also. He chose well...he chose Romaine's. Let's start with the food. It's an american bistro with a twist. The selection in steaks and chicken along with seafood is varied and well balanced. They change the menu seasonal and is never boring and always with a surprise! The famous pizza is outstanding!! We sat in the wine room with a over 100 varieties of wine on one wall and at all prices. The waitstaff was exceptional and attentive to all our needs without being intrusive. With as many people in our party as we had, the waitstaff never seemed flustered or harried. They took their time with us and never rushed us. The appetizers and table bread were amazing as were the drinks which were strong and delicious. The wine was passed around and more ordered. yummmmm The decor is very upscale. Something you see more and more in the Worcester area thank God! I'm hoping we go back this Christmas. They made last years very memorable. read more

I went with a girlfriend for dinner on a Wednesday. I hadn't been here in a long time, it was her first visit. We split a mixed green salad to start, YUM!! For dinner we each had salmon with a tomato and cucumber salad. It was the best dinner I've had in a long time, and I go out a fair amount. We ate inside at a comfortable booth. Me and my family have been going here since we moved to northboro, and we LOVE it! The staff is friendly and very professional.they basically know our orders by heart and we are so glad to see their welcoming faces every time we go. The bread and garlic for the table is very good and we enjoy the hummus platter or the calamari as apps. I enjoy the tips and Fritz appetizer or the chicken tacos. We have been enjoying Romaine,s for many years and this Valentine's Day was no exception. We started with their special valentines cocktail and a improved old fashioned which were very good. Appetizers were crab cakes and fried Brussels that were quickly devoured. For mains we had salmon, cooked perfectly with Brussels slaw and red flannel hash and the brick chicken which never disappoints.. for dessert we had cinnamon bread pudding (yum) and fudge brownie with raspberry mousse, both a little dense. Pretty good spot. We dine here occasionally with friends or family if we want to stay local and casual, for food that is little better than chain restaurants. The prices are a little high for the quality of food. The service is good, they treat you like a customer. The servers don't leave a lasting impression. Really great restaurant. Minus a star because I was overcharged on my wine (was supposed to be $8 per glass as on the menu, was charged $12 per glass). We had the hummus for an appetizer and it was delicious (came with warm pitas). Both of us also loved Under the Brick Chicken. It did have a TON of fresh garlic, so if you're sensitive to garlic I wouldn't recommend it. The potatoes were AMAZING. Would love to go back if I am ever in town! read more

Have always loved it here however it used to have more of an "outdated" feel. It's been revamped and it is perfection in my eyes. The decor is amazing and the food has remained top notch. I just went for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was bright and lively while having a nice cozy feel at the same time. The starters were great-warm cornbread in a skillet with honey drizzle, gourmet chicken wings and hummus with soft warm seasoned pita. The entrees and dessert were also impressive. Went on Sunday at 6:30 the restaurant was less than 1/2 full. Service is so ssssllllooooowww. It took 15 min for someone to come over and take our drink order. The waitress kept apologizing for the slow service but didnt do anything about it. She did offer us free desserts because of the service but changed her mind and said she was only going to give us 1. Whole experience took almost 2 hrs for a Sunday night. Its to bad because the food was good but this was not the first time service was really slow. Because of this we wont be going back read more

Very pleased with my experience here. Food was very well done in most areas. Was a bit disappointed by the deviled eggs tough. In my experience making deviled eggs, they need to be over filled. These were very under filled so they were only using half an egg yolk for each half egg. Otherwise everything else was spot on. Since the updated renovations this year the place is nice, however, its reflected in your food and price now. As others have mentioned prices have increased and the portion are smaller than they used to be. Food quality and service is still great! Great choice for a date night. You can expect classic food with a southern twist and a relaxed yet upscale atmosphere. They feature a more formal sit down area as well as a bar area if your looking for something more laid back. A small and varied menu, to please any appetite. They serve complimentary bread with butter and roasted garlic for smearing - nice touch! I ordered the steak (which was cooked to a perfect medium rare temperature) and my companion ordered the burger. We both tried signature cocktails - the Louisiana purchase and the mojito. With tip we spent over 75 dollars so don't expect a cheap night out if you choose here. Will definitely be going back to try more food and beverage. read more

Tonight my husband and I went to Romaine's. We started with a delicious appetizer of Brussels sprouts with a new sour drink and a glass of Cabernet. The mood was set for a beautiful evening. Our waitress Lisa was very conscientious and attentive to our needs. Our entree of wood grilled pork chop was delicious and cooked to perfection! We ended our meal with a mouth watering apple tart for dessert which was topped with German chocolate cake ice cream prepared by by EJ who was very personable and knowledgeable. We we're fortunate to meet the manager Sara who was very attentive to all her guest and made us feel very welcome at Romaine. We will definitely be back and enjoy another well prepared and delicious meal. read more

We had dinner at Romaine's last night. The funny (as in odd) thing is that I did a Yelp search for a seafood restaurant in the Marlborough, MA area and Romaine's came up and had 4.5 stars. So, we gave it a shot. To be fair there are a handful of seafood dishes on the menu but not enough (in my opinion) to call it a seafood restaurant. It's complete name as shown on their sign is: "Romaine's Bar and Grill" and if I had known that we may have gone elsewhere. The service was terrific. The wine was marvelous. My wife had the seafood fettuccine and I had the brick pressed chicken. She liked hers very well and I thought mine was just okay. read more

Being an East Coast Urbanite I still have issues with restaurants in strip malls. We have family in Silicon Valley and some of the best Asian food i have ever had has been from places in strip malls off I-880 and I-680. Still I resisted trying Romaine's for several years. An upscale New American restaurant in a strip mall? I was also given bad information, many people I spoke with said that this was an "italian place". While they do have a brick oven and the pizza is incredible, this is not an Italian restaurant. Yes you can get pasta here but this is clearly a New American place. If you want to rate a fine dining place what should you order? Chicken, any good chef can transform chicken into something special. Romaine's features a Brick Pressed Chicken which piqued my curiosity. The chicken was crispy , perfectly seasoned and juicy. We also tried the Truffle Oil french fries, which were delicious and decadent. I had the best caesar salad in recent memory here. The Thai vanilla creme brulee was as good as the last one I had at Radius. So yeah good things do come in Strip Malls. * Brick Oven is open to the room. * Large comfortable room with clever seating arrangement. * Absolutely super kids menu that does not dumb things down. * Stellar deserts. * Wine list markup borders on criminal but they have some nice bottles. read more

The absolute ONLY reason why I have not given this restaurant 5 stars is due to the service, initially. The date we dined here was Saturday, October 22 which was my friend's birthday. Searching for nice restaurants in the Worcester area, I noticed the reviews & selected Romaine's. We were seated right away & given menus. Being that this was a special occasion & also in no rush we wanted to start the evening with cocktails. We waited& waited... 10minutes went by. Servers were walking back & forth catering to other tables . Not ours. Finally my gentleman friend got up & evidently spoke to a host or manager. Within minutes we were assigned a pleasant server. We ordered our drinks & from then on, all was wonderful. In the meantime we were served a bread basket along with roasted garlic & whipped sweet creamy butter - very nice. We decided to split a Caesar salad that was excellent. I ordered " under the brick chicken' which appeared to be recommended on yelp. My dining companion ordered a salmon dish. Both entrees were absolutely perfect in every way! I don't feel it could have been any better. Being that it was a birthday meal, my gentleman friend ordered dessert. Tahitian vanilla crème brulé.. it was served warm with a fresh strawberry garnish - a nice touch. He seemed to enjoy it. Coffee was fresh & made for a nice ending to what was a memorable meal. A bonus : the management apologized for our wait &gave us our drinks on the house. I believe they also did the same with the dessert. When in the area I will DEFINITELY return! read more
