Maple roasted Carrots with harissa and yogurt
    Melissa M.

We stumbled upon Romaines tonight. The place has plenty of parking and amble seating. Even though it was a busy Friday night, and we didn't have a reservation, they were able to sit us right away. The place is very beautiful. They even have sound dampening on the ceiling to keep it from being too loud, which I appreciate. The service was impeccable. From the moment we walked in till we walked out the door we were taken care of. Not only by our server but also the hosts. Now the food. We had 2 apps. The calamari which I wouldn't get again. It was a bit chewy. Not terrible but I've had better and I prefer a red sauce and they served it with sweet chili. The second was maple roasted carrots with Harissa, yogurt and pistachios. It was good but I would like a little more nuts. Our Main dishes were the brick roasted chicken and the steak tips. I ordered the tips medium with double salad. They were perfect. The salad was arugula with blue cheese and onions which went amazingly with the beef. Hubby got the chicken it was served with roasted garlic and lemon sauce. Along with mashed potatoes and arugula. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The potatoes were very good as well. Overall this was a great place. I would say go give it a try. We decided on 4 stars because there was nothing that we have to come back for but it's a beautiful place that deserves a try.

Some friends and I went here recently for a dinner. The decor was pretty and it felt warm and welcoming. The food was good, but not great. You had to buy the bread basket if you wanted bread. I feel like giving your customers a few of the expected extras goes along way. The drinks were good and we did have a nice time. Our waitress was fine. So overall, I think I would return if friends wanted to go there. Some of the dishes we had were chicken piccata, shrimp Alfredo, salmon, and steak tacos. Nothing outstanding but all acceptable.

Special dessert tonight- cranberry apple pecan crisp with vanilla ice cream - YUM!

Romaine's is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. It has a warm vibe- great space and service. It's pretty large so they've been able to handle Covid well. The food is exceptional. The menu is big Emigh that there are plenty of options without being overwhelming. Each dish has something unique about it, and the dishes reflect all sorts of different cuisines. During our last recent visit we enjoyed the shrimp and calamari for appetizers, the jambalaya and the fish tacos for dinner, and the beignets for dessert.

I'm a sucker for a delicious bread basket.

It took me years of living here to try Romaine's and I was surprised at how delightful it was! The decor and lighting is beautiful - if you want cozy ambiance, they've got it. The food is great (see photos!), the sangria delicious, and the staff very welcoming and attentive. Can't wait to go back!

Another strip mall standout. Does not look like anything special from the outside, but had a fantastic experience here all around. Cocktails, food and service were incredible. They had a fresh swordfish special that sounded amazing, but I went with the haddock and so glad I did. It was perfectly cooked and served with a delicious creamy olive sauce. Deviled eggs were topped with pastrami and sriracha. Yum. The house sangria was white and the special cocktail was a blood orange margarita. The dessert list wasn't that appealing, but they did have some fun and fancy dessert cocktail choices.

Good food, friendly waitstaff. My friend and I enjoyed the Chicken Piccatta and the Salmon with Red Flannel Hash. Both were delicious!

We attended a private mid-week event, and despite the size of the group, the staff seemed to do a great job having drinks and food brought out to everyone in a timely manner. The staff was courteous, professional, and friendly - this place seems to be well managed and have a good understanding of what it means to be in the hospitality industry! First of all, the warm bread and butter basket served was a great first impression. Delicious dinner rolls served hot! Our starter salads, while not large and somewhat basic, were presented nicely in modern bowls and consisted of fresh, delicate greens, a few cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes. The entrees we selected from were okay. Unfortunately, all steaks for this event were served medium, and I found mine to be less tender than my desired medium rare. Surprisingly, the naturally sweet asparagus...my first of the season...was perfect and somehow managed to upstage buttery smooth mashed potatoes and beef! Similarly, the thick toothy al dente fettuccini was the highlight of the chicken parmesan entrees, as the house-made chicken parm couldn't stand up to the chicken parm my wife makes in our house.

Upon walking inside, you'll immediately feel like you've gone back in time. It gives off a very classic, old-fashioned diner feel, with booth seating and red stools along the counter. Important to note that this place is cash only. Lobster and other seafoods are advertised as their specialty both online and within the restaurant. I never had a lobster roll before, and unfortunately, this place made me think lobster rolls were mediocre and overrated (and then I had my life changed by lobster rolls from other places). FOOD: Lobster Roll (6 oz.) (2.75/5) - I opted for mine to be served warm with butter. It came with a side of slaw and very generous portion of onion rings and fries. The lobster roll itself was lukewarm and the melted butter came on the side in a small plastic cup. (I was expecting for the butter to be more incorporated.) The lobster sat on a small bed of cut lettuce. The lettuce wasn't of the freshest quality as some pieces tasted strangely bitter. The lobster was a tad rubbery, and everything was overall bland to me. I found myself reaching for the salt shaker more than would have wanted to. SERVICE: I believe a new hire was getting trained during my visit, so it was a bit clumsy. However, I found it rather charming. They are all very warm people, and you can tell that this is a family owned establishment, which is why I really wanted to like this place. TLDR// Unfortunately, did not have the greatest first lobster roll experience here. Hopefully, I went on an off day or I was better off ordering something else.

Did not take too long to see it on our table. OK. I do t usually say this but we were both impressed. The presentation, amount and taste. Off the charts. Well done. Drinks were timely well poured and tasty. On the second visit I was alone and again sat at the bar. It was mother's day so I expected it to be busy. Upon entering the establishment I was surprised to notice that it was pretty busy but the bar had only 4 patrons seated and even a few tables on the floor open. Outside looked full though. I sat at the back corner of the bar just down the bar from the servers well. There was a bartender there holding court, occasionally making drinks with and for the weight staff. He was joking around and telling tales that appeared to have kept the wait staff entertained. While there I saw no other bar staff tending to anyone except the staff entertainer at the service well though I was only 4 or 5 seats down they did not approach me, not even in passing. There was absolutely no acknowledge of my presence in the least. I finally stood and left the bar after about 25 minutes being ignored. As I was leaving I did ask the seating staff at the door if there was anyone working the bar and was told that there should be. I continued out the door annoyed and done with this establishment. I will stare that I am a member of the small local LGBTQ community and if this is this establishment's normal attitude and/or policy towards a small local community than I can not in good conscience recommend The Neighborhood Tavern in Northborough, MA to anyone. My rating is weighted heavily towards my second visit.
