We were blown away! We wanted to try a new spot for our 21st wedding anniversary dinner. We showed up right when they opened and immediately got a seat. The tables around us quickly filled up and the place was packed 15 minutes later with a line waiting for tables. Our server David was phenomenal and we were also visited by the general manager David who gave us some history on the establishment. They both made our dinner a true delight. If you like supporting a local family owned business this is a great one! The food was excellent and the prices were more than reasonable. The large portions meant we got to enjoy the meal for dinner the next day. We will definitely put this place on our restaurant rotation. I have not been to this location in over 10 yrs. I am a regular at the location in Sunset Beach. It really looked adorable inside. I love the chandelier and string lights. It was packed! Super busy night for a Sunday. The menu is exactly the same fortunately. The only difference is this location does not have a pizza oven! These service and food were great. We went there on Saturday night around 9:30. We put in our order quickly. There were two adults and three kids. When we got the food my daughter's pasta with red sauce hardly had any sauce. We asked the waiter for more sauce and he said the kitchen already closed. It was literally 9:58. I also asked to replace the shrimp with chicken and they charged me extra without mentioning they will. Additionally my girlfriend asked for something as a replacement and they charged us. I finally made it in here after a few failed attempts due to long wait times (it's a popular spot). I thought tonight would also be a bust since it took extra long to park and I had a tight window of time to order, eat and get my kid to Karate. I decided to post up at the bar with my 5 year old since it was full service and had available seating. I was told that kids meals and apps came out fairly quickly, so we ordered a Kids pasta dinner and a Parmesan Chicken app. The Kids meal came out in less than 5 min. Piping hot and delicious. It has a small candle on it and the lighting was dim. They have a small but impactful menu. The martini menu was amazingly diverse. They have plenty of appetizers, and all meals are served with salad and bread. The calamari appetizer was a bit chewy, but the breading was crisp and light. The salads were nice and fresh. I am in SHOCK at how this place can have such high reviews. This will be a food only review. Let's take it from the top. First the bread came out to start the night off. Butter was served from a package and the bread had a cheap, dry taste to it. Next came a salad and a soup. The salad was decent with hits of cucumber and red onion for some variety and the Italian wedding soup was good, albeit a bit salty. An appetizer was ordered for the table: bruschetta. What came was something that was a far cry from the expected. A toasted and warm slice of bread, pummeled with cheese, and peppered with sloppily cut tomatoes in uncomfortably large chunks. This what not bruschetta, but a horrible new creation that I can only hope never shows up in my future Then came the entrees. First up is the spaghetti and meatballs. Overly mushy spaghetti was served paired under a sauce that had not even whispers of taste along with being watery. The meatballs were the most offensive part of the dish. These were firm and tasteless, reminiscent of the meatballs found at the local grocery store. I was expecting a simple ground beef meatball soaked in sauce at the very least. The other entree was a fettuccine Alfredo. I had asked for extra Parmesan with this. To my absolute HORROR a jar of pre shaved "Parmesan" came out instead of the expected fresh grated stuff. The fettuccine befell much of the same as the spaghetti and meatballs, bland sauce and soggy noodles. We went on a Monday night at 5:00 pm when it opened. The place always fills up fast in fact there is usually a line to get in. We got lucky for party of six and 3 people were running late but the server was great and let us get seated immediately as there were a few open spots. Everyone liked there meals. We ordered Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken. And penne pasta with diablo sauce. Every time I have been to the restaurant the food is served piping hot which I really appreciate. They serve french bread and a salad with entrees. We really like Roman Cucina, the portions are big I took 1/2 of my pasta and salad home. It was my first time here and the atmosphere is amazing! It is very dim, but the lights inside are beautiful. The set-up is awesome!! Took my friend for her birthday with a party of 6 and they were able to accommodate us quickly, which was awesome! They brought this cute cup of ice cream for her birthday and a candle. This is my go to for Italian food. The customer service and food here is always bomb! When we were living in Tustin my husband and I would still drive to Fullerton to get our favorite pasta here. Our wedding rehearsal dinner was here as well with our group of friends. The portions are generous and the best part is it just tastes amazing. Decadent, rich, creamy sauces make my mouth water. I always have leftovers because of the big portions but what's great is its quality AND quantity. The owner Mike is such a cool guy. I was happy to support this restaurant during the pandemic by getting to go orders constantly because I was pregnant and hungry 90% of the time. Oh and the rotating cheesecake flavors?! Came back for a second date night and tried some different items. Went in without a reservation and the host told us it would be a 30-45 minute wait but it ended up being 20 minutes. It was quite busy despite it being a Wednesday night but nonetheless our food came out fast. They served us fresh and hot bread and followed that up with our appetizer and then a salad that comes with the entrée. I ordered the pesto and my boyfriend got the alfredo. I've been dining at Roman Cucina since they opened their doors in early 2000's! RC is one of my favorite downtown Fullerton spots and having moved farther away a few years ago, I always make it a point to stop in when I'm in town. I'm usually looking forward to the Caprese salad and the Lemon cream shrimp over pasta and the best Key Lime Martini in Fullerton! Unfortunately, as with many restaurants, portions have changed and prices have gone up. I notice it the most at Roman Cucina though. There were far more shrimp in my fav pasta dish and buffalo mozzarella and Basil in my fav salad (now it's all tomato). The flavors are still on point though! read more
